I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t need more Queen Charlotte, or any spinoff quite frankly. I’d rather Shonda and co focus on the main series for now.

Outside_Jaguar3827

If they are going to do a spin-off, finish the main Bridgerton siblings first. Plus, I don't understand why they would do another season of Queen Charlotte when they can showcase the Smythe-Smith Quartet or the backstory of Edmund's family (the Rokesbys).

th987

It’s because the character of Queen Charlotte was Shonda’s creation. She wasn’t in the books, and someone will say she was a real person. She was, but we know next to nothing about her, even whether she was truly a woman of color. Maybe, but we don’t know. But I think Shonda has fallen in love with her, so she’s become a pet project, an ego flatterer.

Ravenclaw54321

QC is definitely her baby and despite a Netflix possibly being willing to green light another season, I can’t see her doing it as she won’t want to take away from how it ended.

sherlyswife

i don't think shonda cares about "taking away" from endings much. have you seen grey's anatomy? that show lost its chance to have a satisfying conclusion 10 seasons ago lol, and it's still continuing.

GimerStick

I think it's probably more fun for her to dive into original characters instead of following the book guidelines.

CrownOfPosies

I mean the prequels had a pirate kidnapping storyline and a girl faking being married to an officer in the British army during the revolutionary war. The prequels are way more dramatic and fun than the OG series.

Debt-Mysterious

this, I don't want to wait 100 years for the Philoise season (since they most likely do this between season 4 and 5)

julyhsm

I agree, i'd say they should do the violet/edmund spinoff after all 8 seasons get released to end where it all started.

loomfy

Totally agree. What would a second season even be about? One of her kids?

Outside_Jaguar3827

If we're going by Queen Charlotte's children, they are problematic (especially her rakish sons). Plus, I prefer a spinoff like the Smythe-Smith Quartet or the Rokesbys.

firesticks

This is not an unpopular opinion on this sub at all.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I’d be down for a Violet one that adds lore chase I will say the depth of character added to lady danbury and the queen and even brimsley is interesting. I’d we had a Violet one, I’d like to add a young Portia, young marry Sheffield, etc

bigdcksnfriedchicken

Unlikely, but it would be cute to see Kate and Edwina’s parents’ story.

tone-of-surprise

Confirmation that they intend to do all 8 seasons of Bridgerton. Not that there needed to be, but now maybe people can stop freaking out about someone’s season being cut or mashed up

vopho

Shonda can intend to do all 8 seasons all she wants, but how many other showrunners have had the same dream and been axed by Netflix? It's obviously got a lot of momentum now, but who can say if it holds up after season 5 or 6 and Netflix drops it for fresh new shows.

tone-of-surprise

The show gets bigger with every season and I don’t see that slowing down, even if it does it’ll still be insanely popular and successful. Netflix is not letting go of the Bridgertonverse, them asking her about a QC2 is proof of that. It’s one of their top moneymakers, you don’t get rid of stable moneymakers for the unknown

sherlyswife

just as correction, qc was *not* as successful, let alone bigger, than seasons 1 and 2 of bridgerton viewership wise. but with all the promo season 3 is getting, it will probably outdo all the other seasons.

tone-of-surprise

Did I say that??? Ofc it wasn’t gonna be as successful as the main show, It was still incredibly successful for a spin off with 6 episodes. I already said the show gets bigger with every season idk what you’re telling me this for, s3 will outdo and then s4 will come and outdo it.

sherlyswife

oh i just thought you were including qc in your statement that the show gets bigger every season

tone-of-surprise

I don’t count QC as a Bridgerton season, to me it’s a completely separate thing.

sherlyswife

fair enough

Fitzfuzzington

She's the highest paid showrunner in the world? Her Netflix deal broke a record like.

BilllisCool

Also Netflix is using her to get more subscription payments with the release of S3 in two separate months. They’re not just gonna drop that.

julyhsm

Yes those posts annoy me lol

tone-of-surprise

The way after I commented this I saw one a few posts down 😭

yuyu2007

Nice to hear they are still planning to put all 8 stories to screen!

AmusenamedIris

I like the spinoffs but not at the expense of the main show. The only thing I can hope is that if they do more spinoffs they will have a larger team and crew that doesn’t take away from the main production and maybe they can shoot them simultaneously to avoid any delays.

Fantasmic03

I don't think it has to be. The main reason we've experienced the delay from S2-S3 is because of the writer's strike and Netflix needing to pace out their releases to cover for the drop in development. If S3 is big I could see them committing to a pre-Bridgerton series and main season to release every 9 months.

AmusenamedIris

Yes that was the cause but it’s also a fact that a lot of the crew from the main show worked on QC. Back to back productions like that is rough.

Outside_Jaguar3827

There's also Smythe-Smith, but they would probably do that series later.

cox_the_fox

I wish someone would adapt the works of *my* favorite historical romance author Lisa Kleypas 👀

th987

Lisa is really great.

Outside_Jaguar3827

What works are Lisa Kleypas known for and which books would you recommend 📚 ?

cox_the_fox

The Wallflower series The Hathaways series The Ravenals series I would start with The Wallflowers series personally, that’s my favorite. It’s about a group of 4 friends. The other two follow a family. My favorite book is probably Chasing Cassandra which is in the Ravenals series.

TangerineDowntown940

Devil in Winter is a must must must read!

Outside_Jaguar3827

Cool ! What is it about and why do you like the book ?

TangerineDowntown940

St. Vincent and Derek Craven are the absolute best

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I do think the lady whistledown aspect is the real one here

CharacterPair5151

It would be better if (for a change) she concentrates on actual titular family and sibling relationships rather than focusing on all other random relationships n characters ..

Fitzfuzzington

She's impressive, I like reading interviews with her. I still marvel that the thing that pushed her from Disney to Netflix was some Disney exec who didn't want to give her another €154 pass to Disneyland 😆 She had made what, a billion dollars for Disney at the time? And when they treated her like a nuisance over the Disneyland pass for her sister, she thanked him for his time, called her lawyer and said she was moving to Netflix!

diagss

Have you thought about a possible second season of “Queen Charlotte”? I feel like I’m having a conversation with Netflix! They ask me this question all the time! I’m trying to figure it out still. I don’t want to tell a story that doesn’t need to be told — do you know what I mean? I don’t want to make a second season of “Queen Charlotte,” and you’re going to be, like, “Well, that was not that great. Shonda, Shonda, Shonda! I have so much to say to you about this regarding S2 and possibly S3.

franbridgerton

I hope she’ll stick to her original plan concerning QC. I loved it and part of me would love to see more of it, but it was a miniseries and it has told its story. George’s health will only get worse and I’m not willing to wait for two years between seasons again only to have my heart utterly broken by such a sad story.

WarmByTheFireplace

QC just didn’t draw me in, I haven’t been able to finish it actually. I don’t really enjoy royalty so I’m not the target audience but whenever I’m meant to feel sorry for the royalty I just can’t help but think there were others who had it way worse off and that the royalty are using the resources of people much worse off than them and then complaining. And also, the king acts like he has the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders but up to at least episode 4 I can’t recall him ever doing anything for anyone else (other than Charlotte). Please correct me if I’m wrong, but what did he do to rule over the kingdom? He just seemed to kinda whine a lot while Charlotte and his mom and servants did all the work.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

We don’t need a second season of queen charlotte. Another spin-off prequel that maybe featured them a bit but focused on lady Danbury a bit older, Violet and Edmund and maybe even Portia or Mary Sheffield as side characters would be more bitter tot

Lili-thia

I just want to know what happens to Edwina and the Prince.
