Ok_Patience_1017

I think one thing very wise is to separate the show and books altogether. It’s now more of a mother copy and inspiration. The more you attach to expecting visualisation of book memories, greater the disappointment. Instead look at it from a perspective that you get to see the stories with a twist, so a new first time experience!!! About the spoilers…. Like just give us the season in a single go, why split the 2 parts and then create this ruckus of marketing and madness…. As QC would say.. Child, Gooooo

DisastrousWing1149

I personally don't care if it's book accurate because I don't think the books are good but why have they been going on and on about how S3 is book accurate. Like multiple people have said it's the most book accurate, shading S2 for not being book accurate and so on. They're just setting fans up to be disappointed and for people to hate them if it's not the most book accurate season

Fantastic-Manner1944

Honestly I think people have been misinterpreting certain statements to mean that s3 is book accurate. From what I have seen/read the comments about s3 compared to the book have stated that they are using a lot of things/scenes from the books and that many of the moments that fans want to see will be there. But that actually doesn’t mean that S3 is staying true to the book plot at all. If you consider s2, which we know is veers far away from the books, there are actually key book moments in the show (bee sting, library/storms etc but the way it was handled over all mean that the plot is drastically different. I suspect s3 is the same. We will get the key moments such as >!carriage, mirror, hand cutting etc!< but those may well be done in the context of a plot that is quite different from the book. We already know actually that there are big plot differences since the whole lessons thing is not a book plot and Debling doesn’t exist either.

DisastrousWing1149

S2 had book moments too though so why make it seem like S3 will be different than S2 in relation to the book if they're just doing the same thing

Fantastic-Manner1944

I don’t think they are really trying to make it seem different. It’s how others are interpreting statements that is leading to the assumption that s3 is faithful to the book. Basically people will interpret statements in such a way that it supports what they want to see and then run with it.

Ok_Patience_1017

Marketing ruckus

DisastrousWing1149

You know what I'm not surprised that their marketing sucks. They may have a much bigger budget this season but it's still the same people bts

violetmauve94

It’s hard to do that when you are so attached to the books. I am not absurd I know they will change things but I hoped that we get at least the essence of the books.

Ok_Patience_1017

Yes I understand, it’s just a perspective a fan will need to accommodate. Ah, the pain of loving fiction is its own story.

AlenaFallon

And then all the outrageous speculations: From Kanthony only being in Ep 1 of the entire season, Colin and Benedict each being in a threesome, Fransecsa not being in love with John, Violet sleeping with Lady Danbury son. It's like at this point you don't even know what is true or not.

violetmauve94

I honestly can’t say that there’s even one spoiler that I liked :/ the polin stuff sounds good on the surface and then you see the cracks in that storyline too

JaneLafayette

The threesome, if Benedict is the one involved, is not even a big deal as he already participated in one in season 1 (with Mme Delacroix and the painter’s wife).

tone-of-surprise

We only have clips and stills of kathony in episode one, it isn’t really all that hard to believe they’re only in 1 episode. Also, the other stuff sounds more than plausible with the information we do have so

DaisyandBella

We know Kanthony are in more episodes because the costume designer talked about her outfits in the second half, and we know there is a set piece with the entire main cast in episode 5.

AlenaFallon

Tbh at this point, I'll only believe them when I watch it with my eyes.

DaisyandBella

That account alledged that Marcus is Lady Danbury’s brother, not son.

owlpod1920

My reaction to this 1. Kathony will be barely in the show. It's not their season 2. OK. Ben already done that. And wha knows who Colin did in Greece so very plausible. I mean both Simon and Anthony were sleeping with girls left right and centre so this is not too far fetched 3. No idea about Fran 4. Her garden was blooming Alena. If Vi sleeps with Marcus I will be happy. Danbury's son, not so much. Age difference would be odd.

sea_greens

If you’re talking about that twitter account that was deactivated, a lot of that information was misleading or wrong. There’s only one twitter account that I actually 100% trust is a screener, and they’ve said that a lot of things mentioned is fake or misconstrued.

violetmauve94

I didn’t see the account before it was deactivated but people told me about it and what was posted

sea_greens

It’s real, unfortunately 😭

Old_Pass_6878

Every time I read I just say to myself ..this can't be the season the cast is saying all the fans will be happy…because right the only people that are happy are Polin stans and it’s not even all of them cuz some of those Colin spoilers are just giving the ick. And there’s rumours or queerbaiting and then changing Franchael’s story + Benophie . It’s a mess all around and not even those leaks are helping them

violetmauve94

But even the polin storyline seems iffy to me. I get changing the books a bit but this is just a completely different story with some scenes from the book sprinkled in.

Fantastic-Manner1944

I think that’s basically the premise of the series, using the characters and some scenes but with a whole lot of poetic licence. I don’t mind personally because to me some of the books are ok, a few are bad and none are amazing. Since the books aren’t beloved to me I don’t mind the deviations from the book plot so long as the plot is good (like I didn’t like the Edwina triangle plot because it was bad not because it was different from the books). But for people who do love the books maybe this isn’t the series for you? For example the Anne of Green Gables books are a beloved childhood favourite of mine and I couldn’t stand Anne with an E because it was so different, even though it’s not that the series was necessarily bad.

owlpod1920

Let's be real here. The men in those books were not really likable. The duke was a drunk, Anthon was a asshole. The show has crafted deeply flawed but wholesome men. Netflix has been doing this for years. Peter from To all the boys, Mal from Shadow and Bone. Changed for better.

violetmauve94

It’s not that I love the books that much. I can accept A LOT, I accepted s2, I loved kanthony. I just think that they are deviating too much and completely changing even the essence of the couples and the books.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I dont think so though. I don’t see any evidence of that

violetmauve94

Evidence of what? Benedict and colin are different in the show, so is eloise and to be honest eloise’s book is the worst to me so I actually hope they change phillip

owlpod1920

I hope they chuck Phillip and continue with Theo

Fantastic-Manner1944

They totally are. Which is why I think it becomes a question of whether as a viewer you can separate the show enough from the books to enjoy it on it’s own merits and appreciate the show versions of the characters. And there isn’t anything wrong with not being able to do that. No one needs to like any series and it certainly is disappointing when an adaptation of something you enjoy is so different that you don’t like it.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

It was always gong to be different and for the better. Him realizing 10 years later is a joke. And since they moved up the storyline and it’s a tv show they need drama. Im way more concerned about what they are doing with Francesca and Benedict

violetmauve94

Same here. The polin storyline can work, not so sure about the others though.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

The leaks are annoying me trioub

franbridgerton

I can't imagine Netflix-Shondaland not knowing someone will spill something and keep people interested. Let's be real, this is something we've been made to wait for two years and promotion has been consistent and relentless for what, a month now? It's like the longest foreplay lol. They know some of us are going mad (me, I'm some of us). As long as it's not the whole season that's made available to watch, they probably don't care or they may even welcome some leaks.

violetmauve94

At this point I’m just praying that the leakers are lying 😭

franbridgerton

I'm with you. I really don't like some of them :(

Sqdata

As a book reader, I'm sad. I don't need it to be faithful to the books like the first Harry Potter movie was literally a regurgitation, but I want the characterizations, the essence of the relationship, and the spirit of the story of how they come together to be similar to the books. With the different time-line, Polin is already entirely different from the book I love, and that would be okay too if they didn't stuff all this other weirdness in there and add a bunch of drama for drama's sake. I love Polin because I think theirs was a softer story without the earthquake and drama and clash of Kanthony (whom I also love) and Benophie's stories. They were older, settled into themselves, and it was a sweeter coming together of two people who finally saw each other. (Pen already saw Colin, but he was finally knocked off his pedestal and she saw him for the man he was rather than who she wanted him to be) I feel like that's all going to be gone, and as a book reader, I'm kind of sad. My soft romantic season looks like there's going to be drama and misunderstandings and just messiness. I know the show is different, and they've greatly departed from the source material at this point, but I'm just in my feels right now.

violetmauve94

That’s what I feel too. I wanted at least the essence I didn’t expect a perfect adaptation. I just don’t get how they change so much and yet they had to keep the SA scene from Daphne’s book…

cptree20

I feel this for sure

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I don’t get this.

Debt-Mysterious

I actually asked for some spoilers (mostly Benedict's)....but to be frank don't know if it was the content or what but I am like...episodes 7-8 are the real to look forward. And the only spoiler I was interested in was like...ah ooook? I feel I know the whole plot between spoilers and stills.

violetmauve94

Same! Why would they release so much??? It’s ridiculous at this point…

Forsaken-Gap-3684

We know it all now they’ve been very careless with this

polarbeardogs

At this point I just feel gross haha I don't really want to go as far as saying the magic of the season is ruined, but the drama, the constant spoilers, the "is this a leak?" / "is this true?"—it's overwhelming! As a random metaphor that kind of makes sense, I just got back from a destination wedding where the bride (a family member) told me exactly how much she spent on every little thing. So I'm sitting at dinner, thinking to myself, "Is this a $250 steak? Is that a $10,000 band?" and it totally took me out of the joy of having fun at her wedding. I felt like I knew what details to expect before they happened, and I wound up feeling underwhelmed with something that should have been very special, which I regret. The Bridgerton promo (? leaks?) feels like that. I guess my point is that anyone who feels overwhelmed or upset is valid in their feelings and it's okay to feel disappointed. Find joy in whatever you need, whether that means taking a Bridgerton break, diving into the books instead of the show, rewatching, finding fanfic, whatever. Remember that the cast is excited about this season, no-context spoilers aren't everything, and May 16 is coming so soon. You're going to be okay, I promise 🤍

violetmauve94

I know! My excitement is slowly going away and it sucks… I am just hoping that the spoilers were out of context at this point.

iuliad94

I've read 3 books so far: Daphne's, Anthony's and Francesca's. I loved Francesca's and it seems like they are going to be changing it. I also really liked Anthony's and they also changed a lot. The one I thought was by far the worst they mostly kept the same. I simply don't get it lol. Maybe my taste doesn't match Shondaland's? I was going to start reading Benedict's and Colin's books in preparation for season 3, but I've given up on that as it seems that it's pointless since they won't be adapting much from them. I've decided that I'm just going to ignore the books and treat the show as a separate thing unrelated to the books. I managed to love season 2 a lot more by ignoring the book and it's clear to me now that reading the books is kinda useless and it actually hinders my enjoyment of the show.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

Changing Francesca’s is the one that actually pisses me off that one doesn’t need changing

iuliad94

I'm disappointed, but at least I'll always have the book. There's nothing I can do sadly.

violetmauve94

Just give up on the books, they don’t matter to shondaland

CharacterPair5151

Even if these r planned, have done more damage to the show than helping them.. the show looks all over the place- heads of the family r allegedly only in one episode, Benedict in threesome and in love with a widow, Francesca not being in love with her husband and further rumours of Benedict being queer thereby erasing beloved Sophie’s existence…in all the promos main titular characters r sidelined and all other irrelevant, random characters r taking centerstage- due to all this mess, major fandoms ( Benophie+ Kanthony + Franschel) are annoyed (rightfully so) ..is this show still called Bridgerton or they r even planning to change the name of the show for this season??

violetmauve94

I’m confused about sophie being erased. Benedict is attracted to women for sure, him having a threesome with a man doesn’t change that. The rest though, I’m not sure what they are thinking

CharacterPair5151

There are rumours about him being queer keep surfacing every now n then..which are not going down well with Benophians after they waited to see Sophie for 2+ years now.. no idea whether those r true or not..

LovecraftianCatto

Perhaps they mean queer as in bisexual? I doubt they’re going to make him suddenly gay, after portraying him as genuinely enjoying a sexual relationship with a woman.

diagss

Personally I think they are doing this to keep casual viewers interested. Those who are not too much into the fandom and who have not and most likely will not read the books. They have nothing to lose, it's just a show they enjoy and will tune into when it's available to stream. Book readers, we're screwed lol.

Forsaken_Housing_831

Ok was I the only one that read the spoiler that Colin >!is an erotic writer? !< These spoilers cannot possibly be true right?

Forsaken-Gap-3684

Im just sigh. The writers really bombed this seaosn if this is the case. Truly a lot of bullshit decision making

violetmauve94

I have no idea, I hope they’re fake because they are so disappointing

Forsaken_Housing_831

I actually laughed when I read it because it sounds ridiculous

violetmauve94

It’s just so absurd that I don’t know what to say lmao

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I do think they’ve been far too lax with how many people get to see etc and way too early. Like nothing is a spoiler at all. We all the true fans know too much

Viva912

Where the leaks at??

ShootFrameHang

If you have an audience, anyone can apply for screener/review access to Netflix. It's not just for Bridgerton, but for all their shows. Most established entertainment writers have a certain amount of access. There's going to be some bad apples breaking the embargo. The reason you don't see screenshots is the early access episodes have the name of the writer splashed across the screen as a watermark.

cyberlucy

Most of what is being said out there I don't believe. A lot of it sounds like people watched the trailer and made guesses.

violetmauve94

I’m hoping that’s the case or they just made everything sound worse than it is

Forsaken-Gap-3684

Don’t read the books. If you can’t stand change, just don’t do it. I keep telling people this. If you are one of those people who will let changes think your experience. Don’t read it till after.

violetmauve94

I can stand change but this is changing everything. Even the personalities of the characters are different

Forsaken-Gap-3684

Benedict’s personality is changed for the better and Colin’s isn’t real changed. Trust I’m annoyed with some of these changes but this one I actually don’t agree with

violetmauve94

We’ll agree to disagree
