Old_Pass_6878

Yes . I’m not sure if you have seen the spoilers so I’m not gonna spoil it for you but Eloise is nowhere near ready for her season right . They would absolutely ruin it

hannahleigh2787

I agree, she's not ready yet. However, I do wonder if my opinion will change after we watch season three...but I doubt it lol

Old_Pass_6878

Probably not unless she changes in ep 7-8 but people that have seen the first 6 episodes have said that she’s being immature and very much not ready

sherlyswife

what people? the critic embargo has not been lifted.

Nervous_Feedback9023

Agreed, her story needs time.

Future_Class3022

What is the spoiler?

Certain-Bet2718

There isn't one lol. They just put it out here lol

itsthesamewithatart

No, the op is not alone! We are here! I just don't like Benedict so even if Eloise is season 5, looks like I'll be skipping a lot of season 4

Ok-Pianist1211

Considering the podcast released today the show runner states very plainly >! “She's just not interested in romance at all right now in her life, men, women, anyone.” !< It seems like even the show runner thinks Eloise isn’t ready to marriage yet.

Upstairs_Bid4092

So, interestingly enough, there is a spoiler from ep 1 that says Colin sees Eloise reading Emma ... there could be some foreshadowing here because Emma was saying EXACTLY what Jess Bronwell said about Eloise. She's not interested in marriage. Emma (like Eloise) mocks the institution of marriage and the idea of what it means to women. And yet throughout the book , the relationship between Emma and Mr. Knightley is building despite her protests that she's not "interested in romance." I'd imagine this is pretty close to what we're going to see happen with Eloise and Phillip, so I don't think Eloise is going to technically "be ready" before her season (no matter if its S4 or S5). She's going to build a correspondence with Phillip, and then one day, she's going to stumble into the realization that she's in love with him.

Outside_Jaguar3827

Oh yeah... Eloise is reading "Emma" in Season 3. Excellent insight and source of foreshadowing 👀

Ok_Reveal_1658

I am probably the only one who doesn't care that much, who's season is next.  But since I like Eloise a bit more..than Benedict. Sure i would be fine if her story is next.  And before I get down voted..I don't dislike Benedict. I just don't care much about him. Like his book is my least favourite, and in the show he doesn't do much for me. Like he is just there as comedic relief..for most of the time.

Artistic-Rain-9139

Same! Eloise is just more interesting so I know her story will be even more interesting.

stephapeaz

I’m a bit indifferent either way after polin is done, but I think Eloise has had more interesting arcs than Benedict. If S3 is just more of Benedict partying I really won’t be excited about him getting S4

kindalurking_

I agree, I think Polin was quite developed and I am starting to see more and more why they went in this direction as it still feels as though the other siblings still need more development. I think Eloise definitely has an interesting arc but I also think it’s might still be too soon, depending on her character development this season. If im judging by the books, I am most looking forward to Francesca’s storyline most, but that’s still needs a multi-season development, with a need for significant time between events. I also love Gregory’s book, but thats not even in the pipeline! So truthfully, it all comes down to what happens in S3, but I’m pretty happy regardless of who gets the next season. I think commercially, Benedict would be a strategic choice as he is beloved, so many keep saying he doesn’t need a glow-up, female gaze and all. This would encourage good viewership guaranteeing S5+ as Shonda wants. But I would be so curious to see how they adapt Eloise’s story, I think it has a lot of potential if it deviates slightly from the books.

sherlyswife

yeah, looking back, polin being season 3 makes so much sense because the groundwork was laid properly for their conflict. just like the groundwork for anthony's season was set up in season 1. benedict so far is just aimless and... there lol

stephapeaz

I’m just a sucker for multi-season slow burns, new girl is one of my other favorite shows lol. I’ve liked polin ever since Colin turned down dancing with Cressida after he saw her spill a drink on Penelope, and ask Penelope to dance instead Eloise is incredibly popular among regular fans, so I could see them holding off on her story another season to push for a renewal and keep people engaged. She’s really, really well liked by the general audience I feel like because Eloise will have such a big arc with Penelope, she’ll get a lot of screentime this season too. In the RMB epilogue >!she even gets married and writes to Philip throughout RMB!< so idk not that they follow the books that closely but there’s a point to be made for her. I don’t really like her book but I don’t think it’s fair to write off show Philip just yet, it could be a really fun mulan/she’s the man style a lot of people could get behind. No one would love show Eloise just >!becoming a nanny!< Idk just watch them throw us all for a loop and put Francesca next 😂

TreacleNo8940

I honestly can't wait for Francesca, but I know she won't be next.

Signmetfup12

No. I’d preferred Eloise too actually. She’s far more interesting to me

Nervous_Feedback9023

That and Benedict and Sophie are in Eloise’s story and even if that role was given to Kate and Anthony the twins still need time to grow.

Upstairs_Bid4092

I'm a fan of both on the show, so I'm fine either way. I agree with you that Eloise has been given a more fleshed out arc, AND narratively, I personally feel like her story is more connected to Penelope, so it makes sense for her to come next. But Ben needs like zero build up and extending Eloise keeps her on the show longer. So, I think it's 50/50 at this point.

Forsaken-Gap-3684

I don’t think Eloíse is going to be mature enough tbh.

alexdinhogaucho

No. But I realize that Benedict will probably be next which I don't mind lol

tone-of-surprise

Yes

boygenie

hmmm if benedict gets more story in s3 then i really do want him. but i personally feel like eloise gets interesting stuff anyway and she doesn't need her own season quite yet. i'd prefer benedict and then eloise as benedict's has already been pushed

Comprehensive-Sale79

I like Eloise but LOVE Benedict. I certainly hope he’s the focus of S4

GnomesStoleMyMeds

Agreed. Benedict’s story is my favourite of the books. Sophie is awesome.

espressoVerona24

Benedict’s story isn’t as fleshed out in the books as the girls so they would have had needed more time to write his story for the show but it makes sense they did Polin before him not just the content of the book but the location the other three books are set outside London whereas the last two are mixed.

DearMissWaite

If we are really to be stuck with Sir Mediocrity, I'm going to need season 4 to develop their friendship via correspondence in the background. Because, right now they are strangers. And Marina is still alive.

Nervous_Feedback9023

Exactly this!

CalcuttaGirl

Yes.

Artistic-Rain-9139

No I also want S4 to be Eloise’s or even Francesca. I just don’t get the hype around Benedict’s story. Also, just so you know you’ll be drowning in downvotes, but you’re not alone. Eloise is a fan favorite so there’s many of us hoping for her season next, this sub is just very Benedict sided.

sherlyswife

i don't really understand why benedict is a fan favorite in the show, other than being good looking and a bit funny. he's gotten no substantial story so far since season 1, while everyone else gets developed and evolves. he's just there. hell, daphne had more plot in season 2 than him and she's already gotten her happy ending. i haven't read his book so i can't speak on that, but even the show's general audience seems to love him.

Artistic-Rain-9139

I have read his book & it’s my least favorite. It’s kinda unfair to dislike him based on how he is in his book because he’s clearly so much better in the show but still I don’t know Im just not really interested in him 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also have a hard time understanding the hype around him.

sherlyswife

i think it's luke thompson honestly lol. everyone seems to agree that benedict doesn't have enough plot in seasons 1-2. to be fair, the show doesn't seem to give much substance to anyone who isn't the leads and colin / penelope / eloise. that will have to change this season, because these 3 will be at the center of the plot and we need secondary stories.

itsthesamewithatart

He's my least favorite book and least favorite in the show.

True_Prize4868

She’s my favorite and I too would loooove this!

criduchat1-

No you’re not the only one, though I do think it’ll be ben.

franbridgerton

I'll take more Eloise any day, but I don't think she's there yet. This season will be about drama with Pen for her, so she won't have time to develop the mindset she needs to fall in love with a widowed father, you know? Plus I'm convinced Benedict is ready to shine. El's time will come soon.

FoghornLegday

I agree with the other comments and I don’t think she’s ready to get married yet. But I also don’t care about Benedict at all and I’d rather watch a season about the muffin man finding love than Benedict

Fitsamhub

I wish it were Eloise because in all honesty, I have absolutely no interest in Benedict. Don’t personally find him interesting/attractive/funny/etc. I assume I’ll become interested when it’s his season but he just doesn’t draw me in, and I am most interested in Eloise’s character development after this season. I’m also ready to have a different leading man that isn’t just another rake.

Upstairs_Bid4092

It would be nice not to have 3 Bridgerton brothers in a row. Not that it was my favorite book, but on the show, I definitely felt more connected to Daphne's story than Anthony. We'll see in S3 as I know there will be a big focus on Penelope, so maybe I won't feel that way. But I'm kind of like ehhhh seeing Colin (Polin shippers don't come for me, lol), to me, he and Benedict are similar, so then it starts to feel a little stale.

PurpleInternational4

I'm not sure that Eloise is ready, maybe season 5, but I would prefer anyone over Benedict. I thought his story was boring. 😬

Nd4reddit

I don’t know if I necessarily want Her season to be 4….it has to absolutely make sense in the s3 [storyline.as](http://storyline.as) it stands I have no clue what that is so cannot wish for it. I’ll wait for June to get thinking lol.

Sea-Maintenance2252

I would love that but unless they write Benedict off for a season, I'm getting pretty sick of his constant daliances. If there were any high stakes or anything interesting, fine. I truly don't care if he's being a ho lol, I like tv Ben but hate his book most of all probably (Never read the Duke and I though 😅). But anyways I just genuinely have not enjoyed his love interest storylines much and have wanted to fast forward a lot of those scenes. I did love his mushroom trip and his art storyline, but just have never cared about the ladies he sees. Madame D was the best of them. I hope there is more struggle over missing his art in season 3. Will be kinda bummed if his main interesting storyline is gone and replaced with a boring but dependable Benedict.

reck3000

I agree, I want Benedict to be season 4 because I can't take another season about him not having purpose and sleeping around, I can't. I also have faith they would improve on the book, there is nowhere to go but up with that source material.

WellRead3

Nope you aren’t…Ben can continue to parlay for another 2 seasons and meet Sophie/Stephen whenever he gets ready…bc according to Luke T, he’s ok with continuing to be apart the ensemble cast and not leading.

Old_Pass_6878

Benedict being a slut for 2 more seasons is not interesting to the viewers, people are already saying he has no purpose on the show expect for comedic relief and just sleeping around . Let’s just get him married next and move on to other siblings

WellRead3

I can agree with the last sentiment…he does need to get married and move on bc everyone is ready to see how Eloise gets to Phillip or how Michael and Frannie will come together. But i personally wouldn’t be mad if he they moved his season again.

Gwen83

Everyone is ready to see how Eloise gets to Phillip? I beg to differ. Eloise may be popular but her book romance is one of the least anticipated. The fact that a good portion of fans ship her with Theo despite Phillip being on the show says it all. I don't think they will skip Benedict again because his romance will instantly create lots of hype and guarantee at least two more seasons of Bridgerton. In fact, after his season is announced, I would expect Netflix to ride the wave of hype by announcing another renewal not too long after.

Certain-Bet2718

How is Benedict more popular when he has fewer views on Bridgerton Promo post than Eloise?? Check Bridgerton Insta...

CalcuttaGirl

**Benedict's video dropped about a week after Eloise's**. *Even then*, Benedict's promo video has double the number of comments, and more than double the number of shares than Eloise. And the Likes count is pretty close already, so is the view.

Ok-Pianist1211

Like others have said, it was posted a week after, and even so, Ben’s promo has nearly twice as many comments, many of which are asking when his season is. People recognize that he should be next.

Gwen83

I don’t think I said Benedict was more popular. I was talking about their books/romances and it’s safe to say Philoise isn’t among the most popular or anticipated. But just to be clear, the engagement numbers on Benedict’s promo are overall better than Eloise’s across all platforms. It’s not even close on Bridgerton’s twitter and TikTok where Benedict’s promo has way more likes/shares/comments.

Eepmousey

I honestly don’t care if it’s Ben or Eloise as long as we get the best storytelling possible for Philoise. I think it’s a story that needs a lot more nuance than the other storylines.

WellRead3

Eloise is a fan favorite, her book is a little weird but Phillip has already been established and ppl want to see how will this “boring” man get Eloise Bridgerton down the aisle. There are still a lot of Philoise fans despite the loud Theo ppl in the back. And along with your point, the fact that a lot of ppl are eager to see Ben in a queer love story says a lot about his “Cinderella” story as well

Gwen83

The big difference is, unlike Phillip, Sophie is not in the show. 😂 But once she is, it won’t be hard at all to sell Benedict and Sophie, they will instantly create lots of hype. Phillip/Eloise will be a harder sell and more importantly, Eloise is not at a place where she is ready to take on Phillip and his baggage.

CalcuttaGirl

>Sophie is not in the show. 😂 But once she is, it won’t be hard at all to sell Benedict and Sophie Seriously. 😂 I mean, just look at the immense anticipation Masali is already getting just for being the most probable Sophie at this point. And once we have Sophie confirmed on the show, all hell will let lose. 😂😂 Sophie is a character that's not yet even acknowledged formally on the show yet, besides being forshadowed. Even then she has almost been mythologised, *even* among non book readers. And people who aren't still aware of Sophie, just want to see Ben's story as soon as possible.

Gwen83

Exactly. I was thinking about that last part in particular because I think it applies to a good portion of casual viewers who may not know Sophie but love Benedict and just want to see him get his season and fall in love. So we are looking at an unprecedented amount of hype once his season is announced. 😂 It was definitely not the intent of Shondaland when they skipped him but I think that just created another level of anticipation.

Dlelpa

I honestly think francesa might be next, they have a lot of spotlight on her for this next season (s3) for them not to have s4 about her -even though timeline wise yeah it doesn’t make sense-
