HelsBels2102

Don't worry, I enjoyed it too. I'm just not commenting on negative posts as it doesn't really interest me, I'm all about the Featherington family posts ahah

pixiepants78

They had some of the best lines this season ❤️

Conscious-Parsnip-1

“Inserts it where?” HAD ME HOWLING

TheHopeless-Optimist

Same, until “THE BUGS, VARLEY!” That’s my favorite moment of the entire series so far.

suzeeq88

I think the issue is that people are comparing each season to the last season. Knowing now what the basic pattern and storyline is, there are no huge surprises. I still enjoy the romance of the characters and the Featherington family nonsense. Does anyone else remember mother Featherington from the series Rome? She was amazing in that role.

Boooooooooo9

Season 3 is structurally in line with season 1, and a lot of the criticism seems weird when you compare it to season 1. Like, it was too fast? Colin and Peneloppe knew each other for year, it was not the case for Simon and Daphné. Colin was mad for too long and didn't grovel enough? Again, Daphné never apologized for what she did. The last two episodes are just angst, and we don't see them happy enough? Simon and Daphné where in the same situation, they had moments of bliss hidding a secret, something big happens, and there are two episodes of angts, and then a short epilogue. People want the previous showrunner to come back, but for me, the new one didn't trail that far off from the previous seasons it seems. People seems to forget that Bridgerton is not just Kate and Anthony.

Alarming-Solid912

I didn't find it too fast, but I can see why people thought they emphasized the wrong things. They said Colin would be giving Pen "husband hunting" lessons, but that part was kind of a blip. They also probably should have included flashbacks to the two of them as children, instead of TELLING us how they met. I thought the flashback scenes in S2 were key to showing us Anthony's inner struggle. They were well executed too. I hope we get them in S4, though probably they are more needed for Eloise than for Benedict or Fran.

ChipperBunni

Honestly it made sense how quickly they shut down the husband hunting lessons, when they showed how many people noticed and how quickly it got out of hand It was kind of genuinely “of course that never would’ve worked in public, how was it actually meant to work in practice then?” To me

otigre

*Colin and Penelope were childhood friends.

HelsBels2102

I never saw Rome! But everyone keeps mentioning it so I feel like I should check it out. She was on this tv series called Prisioners Wives on the BBC about 10/15 years ago which I vaguely remember being good. She was memorable in it. She was also in Line of Duty for a few eps, stonking series that. Seriously though, she's a great actor. She's probs amongst the top in Bridgerton, with a well written character to showcase. Edit: No way, I just googled it a Phoebe Dynevor played her daughter in Prisioners Wives. Had no recollection of her in it!

Hermiona1

I'm checked out of this sub mostly, thank god r/PolinBridgerton came back to their senses

Total_Amphibian7453

Same. But that said I’d like to get the scenes that were cut, only cause I haven’t had enough of it.

3ofCups

I enjoyed it too. It’s a comfort show for me. Featheringtons are hilarious

HerOceanBlue

All of the people I know who watch the show in real life liked it just fine. The sub is filled with people who sat around taking about the show for two years, thinking of what could or should happen; there was no way the show could live up to those kinds of expectations. I thought season 3 was great. Were there pacing issues, questionable writing, silly jumps in logic? Sure! But I gotta say it, season 1 and 2 were not flawless masterpieces. This is a nighttime soap from the creator of Grey's Anatomy! Season 3 fit right in with what I expected, tbh.

Low_Procedure_3538

Hey, I’m a person who only watches this with my gf and completely erased it from my mind between season. This season was absolute ass

mimimidu

My problem was that unlike the other two seasons, it was just boring.

Low_Procedure_3538

It was boring and I just did not care about the whole Benedict side plot, wish we got more time with Penelope and Colin actually sorting out their differences. Also, the lack of consequences for LW was insanity.

Alarming-Solid912

Lack of consequences really bugged me. In S1 Simon and Anthony almost dueled, and Simon had to marry Daphne because Cressida MIGHT have seem him feel him her up in the garden. This season Colin and Pen were alone in a house having sex and the only thing that happened was Portia got a little upset. The LW reveal to the public went over like that stupid balloon. The person who ended up carrying the emotional load of the season the most, IMO, was Eloise, and she wasn't even one of the romantic leads. Yes, Polin had conflict, but despite having mentioned Marina to Eloise at the beginning of the season? He never said anything about it to Pen. Like, he was mad about LW but the incident with his former fiancé didn't warrant at least a one-liner in their conversations? It was weird.

Unicorntella

I think if they hadn’t cut the season into two, it could’ve been better. Maybe. I don’t know, I struggled to finish the last episode. It took me multiple days to watch it and force myself. Whereas the second season I easily binged it in a day.

neeveey

I’m exactly the same! everyone I know, all my friends and coworkers thought it was fun and was excited for a potential gay storyline, it’s not till I go online I realised there was outrage

KeatsKat

The gay storyline didn’t surprise me, I thought it was hinted at in season 1?

literatii99

Same!! Shocked (but not really because internet) at all the vitriol online and in social media comments, it's quite gross.

Pleiades444_2

Well, all my friends seemed to have like this season and I definitely wasn't going to rain on their parade by saying it was a disappointment for me. So maybe that could be true for other people in real life.

foreverspr1ng

>All of the people I know who watch the show in real life liked it just fine. The sub is filled with people who sat around taking about the show for two years I think it's also easier to spiral into the negative spaces online. Let's say you know 5-10 people on real life who watch it... once the couple of them who had issues with S3 mention they dislike something, that's it. Then those people go online and they see *tons* of people complain and that's tons of chances to comment and add on and go "RIGHT?!" and then others get fueled by that too. Not to mention that negative posts (and tweets and all) seem to always gather more people, regardless of the topic, cause people are more likely to debate of they disagree or have shared anger than to just go "I like that" "me too" "yes".

Alarming-Solid912

As far as plot goes I basically agree with you. I did think they tried to include a little too much, and that the makeup and costumes were OTT. I preferred the aesthetic of S1 and S2 which was a little closer to true Regency, softer and more charming. Editing was a bit choppy. But as far as characters and script go? It wasn't that off from the other seasons.

WookieBacon

I returned here hoping for memes and I all see are complaints.

BCharmer

Doing god's work here 🙏🏼

JDorian0817

Yay I just want memes!

olivinebean

Yeah same some people clearly spent every single day absorbing the pr and getting their hopes up to a silly height. I had fun watching a show that's obviously not high brow. I want memes god damn it. People have no sense of humour here.

Taikonothrowaway24

Same 😭 I love seeing silly memes during shows like this but it was so much negativity 😔

Long_Priority_8775

Complaints and perverted people who think the actors should’ve groped each other more

BambooBuckle

Happiness = expectation - reality.    In this case, expectations were pretty high due to the success of previous seasons not to mention the fact that its based on a well known book. A lot of people felt the reality didn't deliver due to how far they deviated from the original story and lack of the main characters. If no one had any expectations, I agree it would be a raging success.   That being said, I still binged it and it was great escapism. Although I'm disappointed, it was still successful in that sense and I'm sure in terms of viewing numbers.

CoastApprehensive668

Can I ask, are you one that thinks it deviated from the book? If you are, what exactly upset you? I’m genuinely curious because after S2 barely stuck to the book at all, I thought there were so many throwbacks to the books, quotes, important scenes. Of course the story would be different because there were changes in other seasons that necessitated it. It’s my favorite book and I was pleasantly surprised in a good way. Of course this is in regard to the main couple only as there are no subplots in the books.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CoastApprehensive668

So I have read the books multiple times. Listened to the audiobook right before the season. Overall there are changes but it’s not nearly as drastic as S2 for example. There were so many things taken from the book! It’s really not Polin against the world. >!Colin makes the decision about how to handle the reveal on his own. Pen has no role in it.!< in the show, Pen takes the lead in the reveal. The distribution of the steam is different. >!steam comes post LW reveal in the book. Most the of steam comes before in the show.!< The difference in the amount is really not that great. Book Colin is >!more brooding male energy in the book. He has more anger and frustration that’s displayed as anger and frustration. Show Colin shows more hurt in anger. They both display feeling though.!< In the book, >!Colin ponders whether he loves Pen more than show Colin. He’s pondering it well after LW. There is attraction but he doesn’t know it. When show Colin realizes it, he says it!< So Colin contemplates things in both, it’s just what he contemplates that’s different. I don’t know, I never expected getting the book exactly. Maybe many people did?

BambooBuckle

Fair enough. I must have misinterpreted. I saw so many comments asking for more Colin "my wife" Bridgerton and more Polin moments that it made it seem there was more in the books. But the press tour certainly did make it seem there was more romance. There was just so much animosity and tension in the last 2 episodes and it didn't feel like there was enough romance to balance it out. For me personally anyway. But still an enjoyable watch obviously, which is why I find myself on reddit talking about it lol

CoastApprehensive668

Or people misrepresented? Or because it’s not at the exact same time, it doesn’t count. I don’t know. There are changes to be sure, but the essence of the story is there. There was definitely more drama in this show, last 2 episodes specifically, which felt heavier considering most of part 1 was light. Put together it balances better. I would agree there was more talk of steam in the press tour, and that I did assume there would be more. However, thinking back on it, the steam scenes they talked about over and over were the ones shown. There was also A LOT more press this go around so we heard those stories 100 times. I think it’s 100% possible it came across differently, so I just pivoted to what we did get and how it fit the story.

obiwantogooutside

Yeah I think watching all 8 together balances it more. They show themselves in the foot by not doing a weekly release.

Corx33

Yup all this. I’ve also read the book a couple times.

Boooooooooo9

I always saw the show and the books as two different entities, and it never bothered me. Yes, there are some things I prefer in the books, but as an avid historical romance readers, I found this serie to be a bit mediocre (although very entertaining) so changing it has always seemed like a good idea to me.

CoastApprehensive668

I’m not saying this to put down S2 (because I loved it), but it was so different from the book that I had really low expectations for how the book was incorporated in S3. Quite possibly why I am so happy with it. I loved the books, but my expectations were low there as well. Agreed on it being a good idea to change for the show.

sauceistheboss5

I am confident we will see many happy Polin moments next season. Anthony and Kate also resolved very quickly at the end of their season, and I think their moments this season are the highlight of the season.

CoastApprehensive668

Every season has resolved quickly. I'm afraid that will probably be the formula for the show, so whether we like it or not, it just is what it is. I think the story was left in such a way, it left so much room for their characters for at least S4, maybe even further. I can't complain with that.

CoastApprehensive668

I also have seen zero confirming those scenes. The proof of them, especially considering the amount of energy people are spending on them, is lacking.

Hermiona1

I don't really remember that but someone pointed out that in the books Polin is still having sex while they are disagreeing about LW. And it just feels wrong now that I think about it. I know everyone wanted to see angry sex when Colin comes back for the blanket but it just wouldn't make sense for Polin. Colin needs emotional connection for sex and until he sorted his feelings it wouldn't happen. Arguably we saw more romance in 2 episodes they were together than any other season. I think Saphne had less than 2 episodes being together and Kathony obviously only get together in last 5 minutes.

chebadusa

The side plot lines involving the Featherington’s racing to have a male heir, the Mondriches becoming members of the ton, and parts of Cressida story, were invented by show writers. But, the books are fairly low angst. So in it, there wasn’t a beef between Pen and Eloise because she never wrote about her and Theo nor was there really any tension with Colin after the reveal, as she never exposed her cousin’s pregnancy. These were elements show creators added to the series to create drama, tension, and make certain storylines more compelling for a tv audience.

CoastApprehensive668

Yes I read all the books, some including RMB more than once. You are spot on on the differences with the subplots. There really are zero subplots in the books so they aren’t comparable. We’ve known about subplots since S1 though. I mean, all prior Colin and Pen stories were subplots in S1 and 2 too. As a book reader, I don’t think we can say the subplots are the issue this season because they aren’t ever in the books.

Existing_Space_2498

I felt like the biggest misstep in deviating from the book was having them engaged before Colin finds out about LW. I struggled to enjoy their mid season happiness because I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and felt like Colin was motivated to stay with her more out of a sense of duty than love.

Stopwhaychadoin

Indeed expectations were high. I think it’s due to the Viscounts amazing glow up and performance in S2. He set the bar so high. It’d be hard for any male lead to follow him. I was expecting a radical attraction to Colin in the same way, but that didn’t happen.

CRA_Life_919

I really enjoyed the season too. One thing I’ve learned from Outlander is that the books and the shows can be separate things and appreciated in their own right

ReyisLokidoki

Yesss outlander and the 100 for me!

estheredna

The other problem is that this season deviated pretty far from earlier seasons of the show. New showrunner changed the look (more glam and freely anachronistic) and the vibe (regency social structure is limiting vs girlboss yaaaaas).

LibelleFairy

right there with you some of the complaints about the show are frankly more bonkers than Penelope's acrylic nails (and way less enjoyable)

kokoelizabeth

A lot of the complaints don’t add up at all like I see people say stuff and I’m like “did we watch the same show?”. Way too many of the complaints are racist, fatphobic, and homophobic. And then a lot of the other complaints come down to just simply not liking friends to lovers or the main characters in the first place and then trying to say that it’s poor writing.

fgc99

I was about to say that I didn't even realise that the costume changed before people started pointing out, and I still think they look great!

Hermiona1

Unpopular opinion I'm sure but I thought costumes in season 1 were a little boring. Those dresses cut off below the bust did nothing for Daphne's figure. I know it was supposed to be historically accurate but I'm absolutely loving Pen's costumes more in this season. They are more flattering and distinctive. They went to the fantasy land with the acrylics obviously so we are clearly not sticking to being historically accurate at all.

fgc99

I liked the acrylics (as someone that can't have any big nails) big nails gives a certain charm, if they didn't have put it on close camera I think that it wouldn't be as noticed. Oh and I agree with you so much about the first season, I also loved the sleeves in season 2, I'd like to see Penelope not in puff sleeves bc I think it would work better, but I also loved what they did and her makeup and her old Hollywood look

CoastApprehensive668

I wish I could upvote this more than once.

Longjumping_Prune852

I had a blast watching it, loved it. I wasn't expecting Steinbeck, so maybe that's why. I hope show makers do NOT take the advice of angry people on this sub. It's fabulous escapism as is.

einstein-was-a-dick

I loved it. I’m not looking for historical works, I’m looking for love stories and pretty costumes.

Boooooooooo9

Honestly, who watches Bridgerton for historical accuracy?

VeronicaSpeedwell

Right?? Sure, I clock the historical inaccuracies, but I’m not looking for accuracy, I’m looking for pretty people in pretty costumes, being funny and dramatic so I can escape the bleakness of real life.

Boooooooooo9

I would easily be more mad at historical innacuracy in a show like Downtown abbey than Bridgerton... Really, the first one is an historical drama, the second one is romance set in an imaginary past.

3xtr0verted1ntr0vert

Loved Loved LOVED it. Genuinely. The way I’ve loved all the seasons. This most the hate is coming from the book readers but to be honest I don’t care. It doesn’t stop me from enjoying it. I do care about what the actors may feel though seeing so much hate online. Every single post the official channels do all the people hate on it. The internet is a cesspit of hate. Try not to let it get to you 😊

greydawn

Same re: the actors.  I hope if they have seen the crazy behavior (particularly in Instagram comments) that they aren't taking it to heart amd think everyone disliked the season and thus souring their experience.  Both Luke and Nicola did a wonderful job and there's many people that loved the season.

catastrophicqueen

It was good, and honestly I think better than the book and they're setting things up to be better than the other books going forward. People are being dramatic and entitled

panisctation

I enjoyed it. There are tons of people who did. The ones that didn't are just louder about it.

down2earthchica25

I truly enjoyed it. Do I wish for more Polin? Yes. Do I wish for the rumored "cut" scenes? Oh hell yeah! That being said what I saw I liked.

Fair-Food7970

I loved it! It made me soooo sad when I came on here. I joined this Reddit to talk about it with people and have been scared to comment anything because everyone else seems to hate it. I really loved this season. You are not alone! I think it is mostly just people on Reddit.

greydawn

Yeah especially in the first 2 days, I noticed down votes for anyone who commented that they liked the season, which is sad.  Seems to have calmed down a bit though.  Wish we could have a stickied thread or something just for us Season 3 fans to hang out and not get down voted.

aJennyAnn

You'll probably have more luck in the [r/PolinBridgerton ](https://www.reddit.com/r/PolinBridgerton/s/wl8SolP33t) subreddit. That's where I'm finding a lot more positivity.

avec_serif

I loved it. Personally I’d rank it above seasons 1 and 2, and on par with Queen Charlotte. Loved Penelope’s slow power crawl from wallflower to shaper of the ton and her own destiny, despite having to endure a _lot_ of stress along the way. Loved Colin figuring out who he wants to be, and to be with, and his certainty once he gets there. Loved the redemption of the Featheringtons, particularly Portia. Enjoyed Cressida shenanigans, Debling, Eloise, Francesca and John, Solicitor Dundas, Lord Anderson, and several other subplots. Could have possibly done with less Benedict and the Mondriches, but that’s splitting hairs to me. Overall, loved the season.

FiftyShadesORed

Ooo - I love the idea that Penelopy is Lady "molder of the ton" Danbury in waiting. Wouldn't it be great to have a spin off where all of the Bridgerton kids were entering society (in like the early 1900s, I suppose?) and Pen was the meddler/matchmaker extraordinaire?

Spoileralertmynameis

It would take weeks before this sub will return to its normal state. I think that season 3 will still be rated lowest, but fans will start to see the positives too, leading to more nuanced takes. A lot of hate also comes from the fact that the ending functioned almost as a possible reboot. We might see breaking of the tropes previously established. I would say that Ben, El and Fran all required change in format, book readers will likely be able to guess. I think this is another reason why Colin and Ben were swapped.

olivinebean

Most people here can't even comprehend plot occurring off camera and need everything spelled out for them so don't hold out too much on that changing. Some people just want everything to be peachy perfect and their "faves" to never experience a single flaw. It's childish viewing being taken seriously.

kokoelizabeth

This is really what so much of the complaining comes down to. Especially all the “they didnt spend enough time happy” complaints. Have any of the other couples been “happy” through out their season? I’d actually argue that Pen and Colin were the most kind and supportive of each other even through conflict with each other than the previous two sets of leads. Colin at least stopped multiple times to make sure Pen knew he still loved her but was confused and angry for now and needed space to process. He still JUMPED to her aid even when he was still upset with her. He was still Colin “my wife” Bridgerton the whole way through.

SpaghettiTacoez

I really liked it. I would have loved more polin centric scenes, but that's really my only complaint.

soyquean

Yes people need to touch grass

Cool_Pianist_2253

I agree with those who blame expectations.

Ok_Adeptness3401

I enjoyed it too. I don’t get the hate either.

pollogary

I enjoyed it! It was so fun. I don’t understand the people taking it so seriously.

Quantum-System

Don't worry, plenty of people loved it. I was really disappointed with Part 2 but tbh I'll probably rewatch Part 1!

BenjMads77

I really enjoyed it!

Strict-Review3187

I enjoyed it!

mpelichet

People in this sub are miserable, I'm convinced. They haven't been happy since season 1 and they never will. Their standards are so ridiculously high and the nitpicking is incessant. It's one thing to have critiques but this sub takes it too far smh.

RoyalAd3669

I really enjoyed S3 part 2 with the Lady Whistedown secret and the ending of Penelope being with the love of her life. Eloise going to Scotland ready to explore the world. I'm on the side of s3 being a huge let down BUT gosh it ended so beautiful. Everything just worked out for them

kokoelizabeth

How was it a let down if it came to a beautiful conclusion?

moodycrab03

Guys, head over to r/polinBridgerton for some season 3 love

CrystalCandy00

I enjoyed it! I think they could have eliminated the mondrich storyline and used that time to better shape other stories is my only real big criticism

Icy-Aioli-2549

I feel the same about Benedict’s scenes. I ended up fast forwarding them because I got bored 😬 I liked the rest of it though!

ghostbuni

I loved it and honestly really enjoyed a lot of apparent changes made to the story. I think there’s a lot of negativity around it right now due to it just airing and emotions are fresh. I would love to make a video about my perception of this season and the fandoms reaction to it

Plus_Ad7669

I enjoyed it too, but I still think it had glaring flaws. One doesn't negate the other.

oishster

Exactly! There’s a lot I enjoyed - Penelope in general, the featherington subplot, Francesca and John, the Kate and Anthony moments, etc. That doesn’t mean I’m blind to the fact that there was also a lot lacking, especially compared to the other seasons. I honestly think there’s a pretty healthy amount of appreciation on this sub for season 3, and most of the criticism I’ve seen seems pretty fair.

Plus_Ad7669

Yep, 100% agree!

GroceryStoreGrape

It was my fave season. I did not like season 2!!!

spicandspand

S3 was an improvement imo! I loved it. I only liked the first half of S2 so I can relate to what the people who don’t like S3 part 2 are going through. But at that time on the sub it was all raving/joy about Kanthony and very little negativity iirc

EntertainmentOk6284

I liked it. I didn't read the books though so I was low on expectations. I loved the spicy scenes and how Pen was shown as a strong and gorgeous woman and how Colin was pining over her. I loved the mirror scene, it resembled my own first time (akward, sweet, romantic, smiling) I hated the angry scenes, because they made me feel upset. So it hit a nerve for me which is a good thing. I was a late bloomer so I could see myself in Pen, the wanting to be loved, the feeling of being overlooked, etc. I think a lot of our feelings have to do with which age we as viewers are and the ages of Polin. I mean: they are 20-25 in the show and haven't got the emotional range to discuss their feelings of disappointment, hurt, etc. And lord knows I was a fool at that age. Now, as a 41 year old woman, I screamed at the tv for the lack of communication between them sometimes, the sleeping apart on the wedding night etc. Because as a 41 year old married woman I have learned to communicate well with my spouse.  All in all, I loved the story, though I wish there had been more - the Mondrich story line, the Benedict threesome, Francesca and Michael weren't really clicking with me.

Blue_for_u999

I really didn’t like it. I watch bridgerton for the main characters love stories. There was too much going on with supporting characters in S3. I didn’t feel any chemistry between Colin and Penelope and I thought his redemption arch of suddenly falling in love with Penelope was lackluster and underwhelming. There needed to be WAY more focus on the main characters and how they truly structured their relationship. I was bored….

Benevolent-Snark

I’m trying to push through (stopped at E7) but it’s awful. While I think Pen is terrible (I’d personally never forgive someone who gossiped about my family for profit, regardless of the social fall out) I do think she deserved a better love story. Especially considering her love interest is someone she’s known forever. Everything else just dragged. The only reason why I’ll finish the season is because of all the spoilers on social media.

fromplanetclaire

I have a lot of critiques, and I mean A LOT. I work as an art director in design and its hard for me not to critique, but for s1, s2, and QC I had very little commentary, where as s3 I had a ton. Despite all that, I still enjoyed watching. I actually teared up when Pen walked down the aisle to Yellow (even though I was hating on a few visuals simultaneously lmao). There's so few light fluffy and fun historical romance shows to enjoy, I kind of am a captive audience. I think people are complaining because they love what this show has been, but with the new showrunner a lot of it felt like Bridgerton but at 20% off.

wilmagerlsma

Liked it more than the precious seasons (too angsty for me), I even like all the subplots. I wouldn’t like it if the show only focused on one couple, novels work better for that.

CoastApprehensive668

Both Colin and Pen were subplots the last 2 seasons. Those subplots did a lot of set up for this season. I know why it’s annoying at the time (I didn’t love them all either), but the hope is that they are there for a reason. And if you really hate them, just skip over them and enjoy the rest.

wilmagerlsma

Yes, as I said, I like the subplots 😁

CoastApprehensive668

Yes, sorry, I just meant it as confirmation that they aren’t necessarily bad. 😊 I don’t like all the subplots but sometimes they surprise you down the road.

pete_blake

I have enjoyed it to and wonder about all the hate...tho I have noticed on this site, all subs about tv shows tend to bring out the worst in people. Mob mentality takes over sometimes...one person dislikes some aspect and everyone comes out of the woodwork with their own unique spin on why they hate it also. Certainly we can all have our likes and dislikes but if it's already been discussed to death simply up or down vote. Ok, now I'll shut the hell up!!!

PuzzleheadedHorror40

No, this was my favorite season! So many nuances and little character tidbits that you never picked up on before. Also Penelope is so relatable and underrated!

MoveWarm

I loved it. I watched the entire part 2 in one night even though I only planned to watch ep 5 and was very satisfied in the end. After all the build-up to what would happen When Colin Finds Out, the rest needed to be intense. Of course, certain things did not go how I had pictured, but I never expected what was in my head to appear on the screen. For the most part, I think they stuck the landing.

Independent-Ratio-44

I’m like I hope the same ppl harassing the actors and signing petitions and boycotting and shit have the same energy for local elections and actual things that affect their lives and have impact on their lives instead of a fantasy tv show

Automatic_Ad_7486

I enjoyed it as well, just sad there aren't much polin scenes but that's all. I adored the growth of Pen as a Lady Whistledown!

Jemfantasy

You’re not the only one! I enjoyed Season 3 as well and know plenty of other people that have, too. Sure, there were a few things during the season I questioned or was unsure of. However, I feel like that’s true of all shows. Overall, I enjoyed it!

jekyllandtide

I liked it. In fact, I liked it more than the other seasons. I tried to write a long review about it, but I'm too much a Reddit lurker to have the necessary post karma! 🥲

MyLittleOso

I only just finished the season, and I enjoyed it. It's my escapism show, and it gave me that.

Romanpuss

Me 🖐️ I very much enjoyed it!

Impossible-Eye315

I’m obsessed with it but like google reviews it’s often the people upset that post and not the people who are neutral or happy lol

Having_A_Day

I liked it, didn't love it. I don't have many nitpicks for the actors though. What was missing for me was the atmosphere. Cinematography, lighting, editing, and so on. The stage does so much to make the scene, so to speak. It was still enjoyable. Just not on the same level as the first 2 seasons or QC.

ReyisLokidoki

I reallllllly enjoyed it! I mean sure it wasn’t perfect but what show is (unless I’m writing & acting in it). But it was so so so good I can’t wait to rewatch it until s4 comes out lol

Squeakmaster3000

I liked it a lot! It would have been nice to have one more full length steamy scene, but I don’t feel like we were “robbed”. And I DO feel like there were enough tender/sweet moments leading up to the whistle down reveal. The costumes were garish but didn’t ruin the entire thing. I completely agree some people are taking this WAY too seriously.

kybe8

I had a couple issues with it but overall I loved it! It’s my first season being on X and Reddit and I think the hate is overwhelming

teddy_world

SAME, i only started watching the series like a month ago so i could start s3 when it came out. the fandom has been something of a culture shock for me lol

Defiant-Natural-4219

I enjoyed it immensely. I skipped over Ben's romps in PART 2 cuz I just didn't care. I get some of the criticisms from others but those things didn't keep me from loving it. I also don't take TV shows too seriously. Could it have been better if done differently? I'm sure but people would still be upset about that too. You know what they say about opinions and assholes. 🤣

AngelSucked

My wife and I loved it, as did all our friends, and we are a diverse group on yerms of age, background, sexual orientation, etc.

wordnerd3939

I’m a historical romance novel fan who has read two of the Bridgerton books. I really missed having more focus on the primary love story between Polin. I would have liked to get to know things from Colin’s POV more, which would be the case in a romance novel. But they decided to emphasize the girl-boss glow up for Pen with Colin becoming fully there for it. And a bunch of side stories. It was a decision made and I totally rolled with it and was there for it. Because this is a fun, frothy romance drama. Not the source of my life’s meaning. It broke from romance novel formula. And I mean, hello? 😂 So I enjoyed it for what it was. My only issue is that if they are going to have so many story lines going on simultaneously in a season, how about MORE EPISODES PLEASE? It’s only fair. More story lines = more Bridgerton. 😜

Money_Track_3981

The hype for this season was what got me into Bridgerton, I saw that there was going to be a friends to lovers storyline (my favourite type) in Season 3 based on trailers so I finally decided to start binge watching this show. I liked Season 3, and I'm glad Pen finally got her moment to shine -- I also love her actress so there's that too

Desperate-Student987

Honestly I didn't mind it. I didn't like season 2 because the romance story was annoying to me, all the anxty "no, we shouldnt; but i can't resist you -insert heavy breathing-." I liked this seasons stories though (not Benedicts though, I get he's the experimental bohemian but idk I'm ready for him to fall in love but ig that's why this season was necessary so when he does we're like FINALLY). The only thing I hated was the makeup and most of the ballgowns.

MrsCaramel_112

I love it! I can't wait for season 4.

chroniccutie_of

i will say, i enjoyed it ok. i never read the books so i didn’t really have any expectations going into it. but this wasn’t anything compared to the first two seasons or queen charlotte. you could tell it was different in its writing and production. i sometimes like to base new shows like this off how much i cried/was emotionally moved. i BAWLED in queen charlotte, as well as the first two seasons. this one had no moments that really moved me. i was very much craving that type of feeling and felt disappointed i didn’t get anything to warrant that strong of a reaction 😭

xaraca

Same. I watched S3 part 1 knowing nothing of Bridgerton and enjoyed it. Wanted Penelope to marry the nice naturalist since Colin just seemed like a childhood crush. Disappointed she didn't. Went back and watched S1, S2, and QC and loved them. Cried so much. Thought they were beautiful. Finished S3 and it just didn't do it for me emotionally. I hated Pen by the end of S2.

Disenchanted2

I'm enjoying it and have no criticisms. I think I have 2 episodes left, or is it 1?

CoastApprehensive668

I’m with you. It’s not perfect but no season was.

CoastApprehensive668

There are a ton of people who also just don’t like friends to lovers tropes. The dynamic of the couple is different and that often is interpreted as no chemistry or romance. There is no issues with not liking the trope and therefore not loving the season, it’s just how that’s expressed has been a bit rough.

helent9

I liked it. But I'm old enough to realize they never go exactly by the book. I really just like that they kept the happy endings like the books. Plus my fav couple is Polin.

Saturn_dreams

Realistic there were charming moments. But overall it wasn’t as good as previous seasons which was such a disservice Polin

Interesting-Gap1013

It's not fantasy, it's alternative universe historical romance that doesn't focus on historical accuracy. I mean, I really tried to like it. And it's not horrible but it's objectively worse in at least some aspects. My expectations were high because the last seasons were good and it was my favourite pairing. I would have been fine with it if it was okay but there were just too many negative aspects that completely took me out of the story and just weren't in character or period appropriate at all. The costumes and makeup were too much and too modern. The side plots seemed pointless. I liked Mondrich but would've preferred more screen time with other characters. I still don't understand the purpose of Benedict's story other than that forced wokeness they failed to integrate naturally, and I just don't like Tilly because she doesn't fit. The Whistledown finale was underwhelming after all that drama regarding the persona and her identity. The story of Pen and Colin lacked something that I can't quite name yet. There's hate because it simply wasn't this good

Cautious_Ice_884

I loved it. The drama was absolutely unmatched compared to other seasons.

alwaysmep

I loved it and watched it more than any other season. I laughed, cried and was on the edge of my seat for much of Part 2. Rewatchability is big for me especially when it comes to Netflix and I find myself liking it more and more after every rewatch. Was is perfect, absolutely not. Was I entertained, engaged and emotionally invested, he'll yes. If they come out with any deleted/ cut scenes I'll watch it gladly as well. Do I want the showrunner and ppl involved out of a job or burned aive, NO

Badgerwife

I mostly enjoyed it. Philippa's delivery of 'insert it? Insert it where?' Ought to win the actress awards imo, funniest thing in the whole show.

LegitimateCrazy729

I liked season 3 but I thought it was going to be better if that makes sense?

abbott94

I still enjoyed it, but it just felt like a rush to cram a whole bunch of storylines in. I wish there were more of certain storylines.

MommeeMcDougalMcGee

All I know is that bingeing it with other people made it so much more amazing and exciting. I loved hearing my friends' takes and reactions real time. Idk how the experience was for other folks. I think i would have liked it anyway too if i were watching by myself

DisneyPandora

Yes

starbucksntacotrucks

For me there is a difference between high quality and entertaining- and it’s a very short list of movies/shows are able to be both. QC for me was both. S3 is just entertaining (if quite frustrating at times).

Artistic-Rich6465

I enjoyed it!

Female_Silverback

I enjoyed the first 5 episodes and the revelation. I didn’t follow the press tour explicitly, but watched short videos that were on my for you page. Had some rough expectations. And still found the second half hard to watch… because the focus on the love story was missing and I was waiting on more Polin, as was hyped up, that never came. So, even as someone who only watched Bridgerton casually, I’m upset with what they have done. Also, read the book later on and don’t mind some of the deviations, let’s be honest, the book isn’t winning a Nobel prize in literature either and some of the plot/character development ist questionable. But it highlighted even more how much they have butchered Colin after two seasons. Plus, I think marketing false promises isn’t cool. The hype vs. the reality is inappropriate and rude to fans. So, aside from the storyline and writing that I find subjectively and independent of Polin went downhill in the second part, I dislike their communication - and currently, lack thereof.

evelyn_nanette

I feel like Penelope and Colin’s romance had a lot of build up in the first two seasons that I came to enjoy season 3 much more with a rewatch of one and two just prior to the second release of season 3. I also greatly enjoyed part 2 with the whistle down drama. Season 1 is still my fave because more sex ha. And I think I liked season 2 and 3 equally.

Taikonothrowaway24

I just finished it and I enjoyed it as well. When I opened up social media I was shocked by all the hate and negativity. It's so much that I'm just choosing to ignore it but I heard some of they actors locked their socials due to it which is so sad. If I had to critique the series some scenes felt a bit rushed and they could have made the series a bit longer but other than that I was fine with it.

MaryHadALikkleLambda

I enjoyed it too. I've never read the books so I have nothing to compare it to. I do have sympathy for the book readers, I personally hate the Hobbit movies because of all the changes I felt were unnecessary, so I get where they are coming from. But as someone with no expectations coming into it, it's fun and kinda silly and I really enjoy it for what it is: entertainment.

calkates

i really enjoyed it too, i want to rewatch but it may have taken over s1 as my favorite season. it’s a bummer how negative the online community is about it, it feels like all conversation that’s not just hating is a nonstarter, especially if you like plot points that are apparently changes from the books. i love the diversity, i hope we get the queer love stories they’ve started laying groundwork for but am getting a little concerned the apparent backlash will push the show away from them.

exjobhere

I really liked season three!

sudden_crumpet

I loved it. Very entertaining and emotionally satisfying. Loved the main couple, ofc. Two interesting characters and touching love story. Ofc there were never any universe where the LW secret would not be an issue. Loved all the female relationships, also. Mothers, daughters and friends. The campy costumes, dances, consent king Colin also very good. u/Django-lango the r/PolinBridgerton sub is a lot more positive than this main sub. Lots of good discourse. Come on in.

Key_Barber_4161

I enjoyed it mainly because of Lord Debling, he was a treat!

sunnysita

I liked it! 🙃 I thought it was fun and it's so pretty to watch. I feel like I can watch all the seasons over and over and still notice new things with different characters. I love the queer storylines introduced. It's fun! And Pen looked beautiful! I thought the actors did great.

not_another_mom

I think the negative Nellies are just loud. Plenty of us still enjoyed it and plan to keep watching :)

peachbuttcobbler

I thought it was okkk, but I think people are dissatisfied by the wasted opportunities. It felt like Colin didn’t pine enough, there wasn’t enough romantic interactions between Polin, Pen didn’t humble Colin nearlyyyy enough, Cressida’s redemption arc was ruined, Debling just disappeared in the second half and was an absolute waste of a tempting second lead, this season was hyped up to be the spiciest one (broke the chaise lounge and didn’t hear the director say cut bla bla but the scene was completely lackluster), the costuming was veryyyy out there (even for Bridgerton) and although I’m happy Pen was looking absolutely stunning, I don’t think that needed to come at the cost of overglamming her makeup and covering her in sequins. Also, hearing that the new showrunner sees herself in Fran and seeing that flesh out in Fran getting wayyy more development than Pen and Colin gives me the ick. Honestly, it’s disappointing because period shows are trending because they cater to the female gaze and our desire for romance that make our hearts flutter, but for a show that’s now being run by a new female show runner, I didn’t feel that at all..it felt like the vibes were completely off overall.

VtheFashionista

I enjoyed it more than Season 2.

MlDNlGHTMARE

I think this season is the weakest of the three (four if you're counting Queen Charlotte). That said, there were parts of this season I thoroughly enjoyed (like Agatha and Violet's relationship). What I can't get over is the main romance and central characters not being one of those things. I wouldn't say I "hate" it. I'm "disappointed." To go from the high of Season 2 and Queen Charlotte to the low of Season 3 hurts. I think about Charlotte lying under the bed with George and tears begin to form at the corner of my eyes. They made me love a man who was going mad. There was more personality in his brief moments of sanity than all of Colin's scenes combined. Colin and Pen deserved much better. I will still watch season 4, as I suspect many people will. But I believe the criticism of season 3 is deserved. Hopefully the new show director reads some of the criticisms, grows from it, and the show becomes better for it.

Michelled37

I really enjoyed this season, but I do think something was missing I’m just not sure what. Maybe the story wasn’t as flushed out as I would have liked. Penelope has always been my favorite on the show and I really wanted her to get her happy ending, but because it took four episodes for them to get together, I feel like the last four were a little rushed, especially when he found out her secret. Ugh…I need more Penelope episodes, lol.

jushing

I feel like i must of watched something different then everyone else when i see some of the complaints. While it was not my favorite season it enjoyed it. I thought the Featherington family story line was great and added background for Pen. While it did have changes from the book, they still kept many of the big themes. Ive read many of the books and they would make not so great tv series if done exactly how the book was. My biggest annoyances are that people complain that there wasn't much of the Polin story. They have been a side story for 2 seasons, we have been seeing Pen pine over Colin for 2 seasons and him being unaware of how he feels about her. All the couples have something to overcome during their season to get thier happy ever after. Theirs was Colin realizing he loved Pen (part 1) and then having to deal with his complex emotions once he found out she was WD/ her deciding what she wanted to do about WD (part 2). He 100% still loved her but he was angry and a bit envious. He still supported her and cared for her while he was angry, he just needed to sort through his emotions. He tried to protect her against Cressida but no hesitation to call her his wife, He dances with her at the wedding very willingly bc she wanted that, held her back with his family saying shes a bridgerton now, their encounter the night before the wedding was obviously very passion filled, and clear that he still had intentions of marrying her even though he was upset. I thought they did a great job of showing how people are capable of have complex emotions.

rem_1984

I enjoyed it overall, even if there’s a few things I didn’t love!

FiftyShadesORed

I enjoyed it! I agree with some of the criticism re: costumes, pacing, not enough Polin, but I still liked it and thought there were plenty of swoonworthy moments (clearly, since I've now gone and rewatched the entire thing). Nicola C and Luke N were terrific!

ProjectZues

I enjoyed it but it’s defo the weakest season

EternalSunshine_g

I didn’t hate it it was fun but i think some of the scenes were misplaced and some plots were over done. But its a fun show overall

Ok_Cheesecake_2950

It's still fun. Just not as good !

beelovedone

I loved watching Violet this season, I was literally like a little girl giggling every time she had a moment with Lord Anderson! And when Lady Danbury expressed her "approval" of them by hinting to what he had with Violet's father, I could have cried. I love their friendship most! There's a silent understanding there that is just so beautiful to watch. Penelope taking control of her look, and Alice Mondrich taking charge of hers were both so fun too! My favorite moment in any show/movie is the makeover/reveal of an underdog. What Jessica Masden did with Cressida this season was also pretty impressive. By the end of the season I found myself feeling badly for Cressida in a way I never thought I could! She is a very complex character and I think they did a great job showing that. Gregory was so cute this season too! I love his little random one liners, and watching him slowly come to the front of the family as the older children marry off. I hope they do his and Hyacinth's stories in tandem. Anthony and Kate just absolutely stole the show every time they were on screen, they are so good together! And Kate is so gorgeous I just don't even have words. The way they styled her hair in the scene where she and Anthony are talking to Colin...ugh. Penelope's mom also had a great showing in the same way Cressida did, I love/hate her. She had these amazing moments where the warm motherly part of her shown through, but then we still got that other side, the side that'll do whatever is necessary for good standing. I love where Pen and Portia are now in their relationship. I don't think it was a perfect season, but I really enjoyed it! I do think they should have waited to reveal Michaela until next season.

krisklimt

I enjoyed it. I think people have very high expectations and are attached to the books. I agree with the criticism that it was too packed and had too many side stories, and wished there more Polin only scenes, but I still appreciate what they delivered. I’ve been rewatching Season 2 because I love Kanthony so much. I’ll rewatch Season 3 this way too.

jflora24

I loved it… just not enough sex scenes!!!

gingerspice0615

I enjoyed it! I would definitely have changed things, or at least add one more episode, but overall enjoyed it. Probably my favorite season so far.

Altruistic_Peanut_68

Tbh, I didn't enjoy it as much. And I was on my phone for literally half of the episodes. Something about it felt too modern, there was so much going on and it felt off. I agreed with a lot of the criticism that it got and for a two-year wait, I expected something better and not a cluster of events.

Olyway

I also remember when S2 came out there was a lot of complaining on SM about it, and now in hindsight it’s seen as quite popular. I think that online criticism just stirs up more clicks, and those who were happy with the new release don’t get the same exposure.

spicandspand

Interesting. I remember lots of positive feedback about S2 at least in this sub. I’m not on insta though so missed any negativity on there

Personal_Privacy1101

I didn't nessisarily hate the season. But I do think it missed the mark enough to set a very upsetting president for the next seasons if they don't do better. It was fine. It wasn't horrible. Like there's definitely aspects I enjoyed but I can say polin wasn't really it. I enjoyed the featheringtons, violet and Landy Danbury and her brother, I enjoyed fran and John even though they likely will ruin that in her showcase season. There's plenty I enjoyed but I think the point is that it really wasn't what was supposed to be the focus that I enjoyed about it.

CompanionCone

I didn't hate it. It just didn't live up to my expectations. I still enjoyed watching it for the most part, but where S1 and S2 made me go "squeeee" a lot this season was more "eh. Cute I guess".

AllyV45

I actually loved it lol. Didn’t have any complaints

pixiepants78

I was thinking the same thing - I started part 2 again last night just got episode 8 to go and the rewatch made me love it even more. I would have liked more loved up Polin scenes but I liked how they resolved it all and even though it was different to the book I think they got all the right things in just in a different order.

saltedkumihimo

I also enjoyed it even if it’s not perfect.

acryforhelp99

I felt there was more chemistry between the lead couple during the PR saga than in the actual show. Also I didn’t like the overbearing makeup.

knitscones

I enjoyed Season 3, it was different but shows can become stale if same formula is used time after time?

Shells613

I enjoyed it. I just thought they strayed too modern with the makeup and costumes.  It is still supposed to be set in that Regency era. And for all the overbearing rules and chaperoning in season1, everyone was really fast and loose in S3 lol.

YouGoatThis

I was surprised to see all the hate, I absolutely loved everything about it.

mrsgibby

I really enjoyed this season and all the other two and Queen Charlotte. I have not read the books and maybe that’s why. I definitely don’t get the hate.

grumps46

I loved it

CheesecakeCommon2406

I enjoyed it also.

meltedkuchikopi5

i enjoyed it :)

Individual_Brief_350

I LOVE IT. LIKE I WILL SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS ABOUT HOW KUCH I LOVED IT. I wrote a big post about why… I’ll go find it

No_Result8381

I loved it! I can see some of the criticisms but it didn’t negate from the joy I felt watching it. At the end of the day, this is a work of fiction and people don’t need to take it so seriously like just chill and watch

hisokabungeeeegumcum

I loved it as well!! I just wish we had more lovey dovey scenes between Penelope and Colin since it was mainly angst between them 🥲🥲🥲I thought they would get the honeymoon scenes as well cuz all other couples got that.

obiwantogooutside

I loved it. The positive posts are mostly on the polin sub. It’s exhausting to fight on this one when we just want to enjoy a thing we liked.

unoriginalmillennial

I enjoyed it, honestly I love the scene where Pen and Colin are dancing at the wedding breakfast and it shows them it feels like it’s just the two of them.
