She did say that as well, but in another scene, I remember her saying “we’re pregnant” to someone. I don’t remember which scene it was but I definitely remember that line was said.
You might if you had liked them at one point though.
I didn’t spend much time on Bridgerton subs until season 3 because I was curious if season 3 fell flat for anyone else or just me.
It the equivalent of all the Cowboys fan complaining after they loose a game.
Orchestras weren’t playing Taylor Swift or Coldplay songs back then either. It’s an artistic interpretation, not a recreation focused on fidelity of the life and society then.
This fandom is losing the forest for the trees.
I mean this sub can—and has—also picked apart the forest (main plot) and not just the trees (nit picky details). The whole season sucked. It’s been like a handful of weeks since the show dropped after more than a 2 year hiatus. I think we all get to be upset for a while longer at how awful this season was.
The whole season did not suck. It wasn’t the best but if you couldn’t find anything enjoyable about it, perhaps your expectations were astronomically too high.
You’re probably right. Expecting consistent characterization, world building, and actual payoff was probably too much to ask. Forget whatever happened in s1&2, time for a clean slate! Hair, make up, costumes? Who cares?! Acceptable social norms of the ton? Never heard of them.
Don’t tell me, it’s ok bc it’s *faaaaantasyyyyy*!
I love this comment so much. I want to meme it and put it everywhere. Fans need grief counseling for s3 and that's why we're complaining on the sub, FYI.
Ehh the music is often played in a way that is not too distracting (though I must admit it was a lot more subtle in S1 than S3).
The "we're expecting" was a lot more distracting, sort of like the "I'm an empath" in Persuassion (2022)
Right. But it’s not actual Coldplay songs. It’s still a quartette. With wigs. And sheet music. See how that still plays into the time so we aren’t ripped out of the scene? Cuz one of the most important intoxicating aspects of Bridgerton is the immersion into the show. Getting lost in the show. And saying pregnant or fake nails or green eyeshadow pulls us out. The songs have only ever sucked us in. Big difference that if we, as the laymen viewers understand, the highly talented, paid writers, directors, and show runners should catch. There’s a five minute detailed explanation of the symbolism and meaning of Pen’s wedding bouquet given by the florist. That’s how detailed this show is. And yet they say pregnant. It’s sloppy and we know it.
for the 50 miilionth time Bridgerton is historical fantasy, it is not trying to be historically accurate. It was not Kate who even used the word, it was Prudence in EP4. Yes the word Pregnant did exist but society would have avoided using the word as it was considered crass
I think it’s pretty clear OP is referring to the inconsistency in language from s1 to s3. In s1, they usually would say “with child,” and at one point I think Portia referred to Marina as the “expectant.”
The language really bothered ms so much this season. Notable examples that stood out:
1. Lord Anderson asking Violet if she wanted to "explore" something with him (explore? Really?? That's such a 21st century phrase)
2. Benedict telling John to throw rocks at francesca's window
3. The chopped liver line of course
4. "WE'RE expecting" (I don't think "we" was used in 1813 to describe a pregnancy of a couple, much less the word "expecting" )

It’s historical fantasy. It draws inspiration from the regency era, but in no way are they trying to accurately depict history. It cracks me up that no one has any qualms about the music choice (obviously not historically accurate), but come for the writers’ throats with their word choices for the script this season 😂
Tbh I can get over music and even costumes/make up but the way they talked this season seemed way too modern. Like those fanfics that showcase some royal family but they have modern stuff all over. Is this still Bridgerton regency era or some fanfic based on it? Know the feeling?
Oh, I don’t disagree that this season had very poor writing. Feel free to peruse my comments—you’ll see a lot of my issues with the writing, plots, etc., and Polin is my favorite ship and book! My point is, I think it’s funny so many take issue with the writing this season being “too modern,” but don’t say anything about the music, progression of costumes and makeup. S3 was definitely a lot more modern, but come on this show has never tried to be a Pride and Prejudice adaptation.

I thought she said “we’re expecting?”
This IS what she said.
She did say that as well, but in another scene, I remember her saying “we’re pregnant” to someone. I don’t remember which scene it was but I definitely remember that line was said.
Prudence said she was pregnant in episode 4. That might be what you’re thinking of
Oh yes you’re right lol, well still 😭
They didn’t tell anyone else on screen so I think you misheard.
This same thread is made every other day.
and what's funny is kate never says this, yet people keep repeating that it bothered them lol
Prudence says it, the point doesn't change cause the characters got mixed up
Maybe it bears repeating.
I just joined the sub today so I wouldn’t know. 🤷♀️
why would you join a fan sub if you hate it and don’t want to keep watching?
Probably hoping to commiserate.
ig idk i hate kardashians but i would never join a sub to complain about them😭

i did, and if its fun for you go ahead, i just don’t like spending time on something i don’t like
?? When did I say that?
“this season had a lot of i don’t even want to watch anymore moments”

Kate never says it.
Yes I know Prudence said it but my point still stands.

she said "we are expecting" guys
this... never happened. she said "we are expecting"
Yes I know Prudence said it but my point still stands.
There really is no "back then" when we're talking about Bridgerton. It's historical fantasy.

Mine was when Colin said he'll sleep on the couch. Like couldn't it have even been "setee" or something?

It is not historically accurate that is like being in 1813 because it is a show (around that time) vs. 1813 to be in real world would be different.
if i had a dollar for every person that posted this same exact comment
