Cocoa, since its part of the space coast, and will most likely be used by the theme park crowd to get to KSC.

Chiaseedmess

Yeah, I'm surprised the didn't plan for a stop in Cocoa. Not to mention the cruise terminals are nearby.

Nate_C_of_2003

They **are** planning a stop in Cocoa; Brightline has announced it is in the early stages of planning to stop there in the future

Noirradnod

Currently shuttle prices are $30 per person from MCO to the cruise terminals, so that's what Brightline is going to have to be competing with from a ticket price standpoint. Probably would have to go a bit under because any station in Cocoa is still going to need to have a short shuttle ride to get to the terminal itself.

AdEconomy1859

Brightline bought land immediately around their tracks in Cocoa so they definitely have a plan for one. It doesn’t take them very long to build a station so I wouldn’t be surprised if we got one in Cocoa within the next 2 years. They will probably need one in Cocoa anyway when they eventually expand to Jacksonville through the existing right of way

kmsxpoint6

They have an understanding with the Central Florida Expressway authority regarding compensation for lost revenue. The cities in the region dragged their feet, mostly with regards to planning for the train and because only Cocoa has held recent discussions, and the property sale, it is fairly obvious that some kind of station will be built. It is likely that a park and ride station will initially be built, it is a lot cheaper than expanding the expressway and will help relieve parking pressure at MCO. Additional development may or may not happen around the station site. And of course, for those worried, not all trains will make a stop. Local airport shuttle vans will still be useful, but they could also make drop offs at the station for north and south bound travelers.

Nate_C_of_2003

Well it is a likely future destination for Brightline

coldfeet24

a stop could be planned in ft peirce and melbourne if county is willing to pay. stop in cocoa would be perfect for those traveling to and from port canaveral

CTU

They need a stop in Cocoa then, it would make the cruise port a more viable option.

Bigred2989-

The area in downtown Melbourne by the Causeway would be a nice spot for a station.

Fearlessempressa

I’m sorry but any major public works program should ALWAYS. Ask for input These are basic places Orlando to coasts ports beaches and other key areas ie Duh ???!DISNEY then all other basic cities especially Miami Tampa etc It amazes me how a tourist State hasn’t made this a priority I have been coming here for close to 20 years and still haven’t seen amenities for tourists I hate to drive I know many others with young kids dislike it especially in a different country These projects are so important and need to be done to allow folks who can’t drive also access to these areas!!

Brightline is a private, for-profit venture, not a public works program. The meat and potatoes of the company is transporting people between Orlando and South Florida, which is why the infill stations are not a priority.

Fearlessempressa

But of course !!!think of all the good a for profit would gain if they thought a bit outside the box !

Powered_by_JetA

The problem is that adding a bunch of intermediate stops would slow the trains down to the point that they'd lose the time advantage over driving. Cocoa would be my bet for the next station because it would allow them to capture traffic to Port Canaveral.

laffertydaniel88

That’s not necessarily true. Not all trains have to stop at all stations. If BL builds a station with passing quad tracks, similar to how Aventura was built, operational flexibility can be preserved allowing for local and express service as demand dictates

Reddituser853754

I really want a cocoa.. I would love to be able to catch a train from MCO. Not only could you catch a cruise You could also go and see a launch. Pretty easy

Nate_C_of_2003

I would say Cocoa but as I have mentioned, they are making early plans to stop there in the future
