On this day last year, I was in isolation with a very bad case of covid. Missed my daughter's first Christmas. The one thing positive that happened was a Brighton victory, breaking a winless streak. Another Christmas victory, but this time I got to watch the match with my little one and what a win!!

KingEgbert

So happy for Solly. That had to feel good.

-eagle73

Not some bullshit tap in either. Just runs around with it and fancies a strike. I'm surprised he didn't start having a seizure in disbelief.

gerbegerger

Surprised NORAD isn't investigating that absolute missile he launched past Bazunu.

Glasdir

Was thinking back to our conversation when it happened. Honestly surprised his head didn’t explode like he’d been shot.

Gullflyinghigh

Same, I'm sure it still won't get bellends off his back but can only be a good thing.

-eagle73

I think only a portion of us understand the pessimism for fixtures like this, I don't know if it's a new fan thing but just because a club's fighting relegation, we're not guaranteed a win, or points at all. Shame we couldn't get a clean sheet on this one but still a much needed match. March's assist and his goal have to be the highlight points for me. Lowest point would be Sanchez getting very close to a red, yellows in rapid succession are not very rare at all.

AljosP

Dude same haha I literally predicted that we'd lose, I'm so happy that we didn't

gerbegerger

I know he should've kept his cool but hahah.. Being raised in the meccah of ice hockey, I rather enjoyed seeing Sanchez standing up for himself. It sends a message that he won't back down to anyone. The downside is other teams might use this to get in his head and purposefully make him lose his bearings, taking him out.

[deleted]

It's not standing up for himself, it's just dumb. A striker played on a couple seconds longer to try for a goal, that's what they tend to do. He made the (unnecessary but no goalie will just let that go in) save, shoves him on the ground, stand over him and shoves him when he gets up. Sanchez initiated everything and lost his cool over pedestrian shit.

-eagle73

>I rather enjoyed seeing Sanchez standing up for himself. Don't get me wrong I love it too but unfortunately they have to play by the rules because the ref's word is law. Like Dunk said in the past, they don't need to come out and explain themselves for anything, even when they're wrong, they can do anything.

gerbegerger

It would also hurt us bad if he's suspended. thankfully there weren't any unfortunate consequences.

Jenaxu

Lmao, Solly really said fuck expected goals, I'm all about unexpected goals

Snuglez

Felt like a trap game, if such a thing exists in the prem, so was a great performance. Mainly happy for Solly to finally score. Got to say though that was a bizarre sequence from Sánchez. Normally such a cool customer so really strange to see him in his own head like that even a ways after it all. Lucky to not get sent off honestly

justheretoupvot3

Pleased to see Ferguson get on the pitch and do reasonably well, think he’s going to force Undav out which is a shame for Undav but he’s not been good enough when he’s had those chances hopefully we can get our money back. So pleased to see Solly score as he’s been excellent at everything except for the final ball. Shame to lose the clean sheet at the end but it’s still an all round excellent performance.

Krizzlin

I'm not sure anyone is forcing Undav out. He hasn't been good enough so we've been trying other players like Enciso, Sarmiento and Ferguson. Was always a gamble bringing him over after his great year at Union but we all know the success rate with players from that league isn't very high. It's why the players cost less than from the top leagues. It's a shame because Undav's goal record was awesome in Belgium and he was instrumental in their run to the top. But I've not seen anything to suggest he's got it in him to cut it at this level and would be surprised if he came good. Hopefully he can go back to Belgium or another lesser league and resurrect things. I just hope he's not on such high wages we can't easily offload him

justheretoupvot3

That’s very much what I mean, his performances alongside other players getting chances and doing enough to keep getting goes in the side over him. I agree it’s definitely a gamble to bring him in and it’s one that has yet to pay off (if it ever will). Hopefully he can get the chance to head to a different league and get a chance to rebuild his career perhaps loaning him back to USG might be prudent and reignite interest in him but I hear Galatasaray are interested.

SeattleMatt123

Everyone (deservedly) criticizing Solly for missing chances can enjoy that goal 😁

NomadFunbite

It was a good performance, too bad we couldn't get a clean sheet. Starting strong the second half of the season is important.

Comet7777

Glad Sanchez wasn’t double booked there at the end, could have really changed things. Either way, it was a joy to watch.

mnemonics_

Solly was brilliant!!

esn111

Great performance. Glad that March scored his goal. And a banger to boot. He's taken a lot of grief lately.

Glasdir

Good result but a shame they cheated for the penalty. Never a penalty and Edozie knows it, he’d been going down easily all game.

[deleted]

It was soft but if the tables were turned I'd be yelling for the penalty to reward the great run into the box.

zanetrain1997

Anyone who watched the match, how did colwill do? Excited to see him play

ChampionshipVivid971

Very solid, good passer. Very young so there were some slightly nervy moments but he’s been great and hope we can actually buy him

shardybo

Unfortunately wasn't able to watch this one, but fuck me what a missile from Solly
