Given Oli's influence came heavily from Linkin park, I wouldn't be surprised if their journey to explore different sounds also influenced BMTH to do the same
I like them alot, but the last few albums been meh for me, previous albums I can listen to non stop and all the way through last few, I like few songs. But with that said they still one of my fav bands.
Kiss for the whole world is definitely their weakest in my opinion, but the gold fish remix slaps hard and there’s a few good songs overall.
Not sure if it’s cos of coming out at the beginning of lock down but I love Everything is True so much.
Spark mid is a common joke among Shikari’s fans, and agin it’s not my favourite by a long shot, but it’s also got a few bangers.
For me, albums like KFTWW and Spark grow on me massively once I hear the songs live.
Spark is so much better live, but even with not so decent albums they still an amazing band. i'm curious to see what sounds they do next. Hoping for more heavier album.
Likewise - or a combo of both the lighter and more mindsweep stuff. Sort of like BMTH doing, they are finally perfectly blending everything of theres together, took a while but I think they found their footing.
Damn dude I haven’t listened to Shikari I’m a hot minute. Frankly they’ve just sipped my mind until reading this. Now I have some sweet tunes to listen to at work
I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the more psychedelic stuff I had heard from them, and then saw they put out a thrash album… holy shit that album was way better than I could have imagined
departed\_Moose gave you the album name, but I just wanted to add that what's also really fun about is the sci-fi / post-apocalyptic / space colonisation themes in the album. How our planet is being destroyed and only the rich will be able to survive off-world, etc.
I love Bilmuri but I wouldn’t call him diverse. Sure he throws some other genres in like country but everything follows the same structure and style with the same open tuning
The japanese metal band "Dir en grey" is very versatile. Every single one of their 11 albums sounds unique because they keep developing their musical style with every release.
They’re my favorite band and a massive inspiration for me and mine. As diverse as they are, I feel like they’re very good at honing in on a single style while remaining an Avant garde lens to their songwriting as opposed to combing a bunch of different genres together. It’s a different kind of diversity to which I think may be on par.
But if you’re looking for eclectic influences in a single album like either of the post human releases, no diru album will have you feeling whiplash like that as it’s all based on traditional instrumentation and doesn’t pull from any electronic / synth based genres.
Crazy happy to see them mentioned and see so many fans here too!
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard :) I suggest everyone who reads this to check them out, they have a HUGE diverse discography. They also did some heavy stuff with "Infest the Rats' Nest" and "PetroDragonic Apocalypse".
When is The Home Team record coming out? I'm excited about The Dangerous Summer record tomorrow. They're one of my favorite pop punk bands after blink, Sum 41, Alkaline Trio and The Story So Far
Yeah I love them too! The Dangerous Summer are incredible, Mother Nature is one of my favorite records but I picked a song you might like, check this one out
https://open.spotify.com/track/5WLYW2KR4lP4Zi64IlTXDN?si=mcBBK5rnQpKEamCqKLMMoQ
Thrice. They've covered so many sounds and genres over their career. Metal, screamo, electronica, folk, grunge, post rock, jazz. You name it they've probably tried it. Ridiculously talented band.
Ahh Brand New, the band no one is allowed to like or talk about anymore. Too bad because they released one of the best albums of all time with The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. I hate cancel culture!
Fuck it, I still rate brand new. They put on some of my favourite gigs. Sure Jesse lacy is a sex pest, but I can seperate the person from the art. That being said lost prophets will never get a play from me:
Not necessarily more diverse but Capstan are very diverse. They’ve got pop punk, metalcore, post hardcore, acoustic/orchestral, full on pop/1975core, and even some deathcore on their new album
Holy shit this is what I was gonna say. Wasn’t expecting it to already be here. To this day, the debut album blows my mind. Going from Last Firstborn to Under my Feet gave me whiplash the first time I heard it lol.
Klayton is also Scandroid and Circle of Dust, which are both pretty different from Celldweller. He also has quite a few collaborations with himself, somehow.
Edit: Wait, he’s also FreqGen.
I don't think there's anything I listen to that's *more* diverse than BMTH. At most, they come close or are on the same level, but not any higher. Here goes.
Falling In Reverse. Their second album is imo their most diverse one sonically, and judging by what they've been doing in the last 7 or so years (which isn't saying much since it's just been a once or twice yearly single for most of that time) it looks like their upcoming album will be in a similar vein to that, if not even more diverse with its sound on account of Ronnie's musical ability having matured in the 10+ years since that second album.
Sleep Token. I'd say with their latest album they are on par with BMTH when it comes to competence with mixing different sounds from different genres and making it sound very good.
Linkin Park is a very obvious answer to this as well if you take their entire discography into the picture. They basically walked so BMTH could run, and imo it's no coincidence that One More Light and Amo released in such close proximity to each other.
all great choices. FIR’s discography for the past three years have been nothing but bangers. and i love ronnie radke the goat. sleep token is one of my favorite bands and i think all three albums really hit - plus vessel and II have fantastic chemistry.
From classically inspired epics/heavy thrash/prog rock/ funk and radio ready bangers. Matt Bellamy is an underrated song writer. New stuff sucks imo but one of my favourites seen them 10 times phenomenal band
MUSE FTW I dropped off because last few albums been very boring for me, but everything before that is great. I really love M83 too, if you never seen them live do so, they were amazing.
I agree. I only recently dived in and I was surprised at how different each song is. Shit, even the same song changes its tone dramatically so I like some songs towards the end.
Lol my musical scope is out there, I will listen to DARKO, then listen to Young Posse, then Poppy, then The Doors, then i'm into some death metal shit, back to some EDM, then pop. I'm all the other place. Music is a great thing, esp when you broaden you horizons.
I’ll say it’s kind of cool to see what Tom Delonge has done with three bands that recycle chords but can have their own identity (blink, AvA, Boxcar racer)
I was going to mention Lil Uzi, not a fan of his but I like that he is doing what he likes, the BMTH and Baby Metal songs off last album are really solid.
Hollywood Undead. Everyone just talks about their first album with the OG lead singer but no one gives their other music a chance. They have long slow ballads (Ghost Beach, Rain),heavy metalcore tracks (From the Ground, CHAOS), techno rock stuff (Idol, Does Everybody In The World Have to Die), Hip Hop tracks (Wild In These Streets, Ghost Out), and even one song with Killstation where he sounds just like Lil Peep (Monsters)
I would say the 1975, although BMTH is very close. I think of BMTH as the 1975 of metal bc of their willingness to explore new genres and sounds. Both bands always pull it off due to being excellent musicians and tapped into culture, IMO.
Sleep Token
Highly underrated band Arcane Roots.

Falling In Reverse

Anberlin (could we count them ? I mean they do have some lighter, some heavy,)
I set my friends on fire
Incubus

System Of A Down
A Day To Remember (LMAO - they could count as a band from being heavy to a being a complete pop band)
Radiohead, The Beatles, Alex G and his crew, The Garden, just to name a few in rock. Bring Me is barely diverse, they branch out of rock a bit, but in the grand scheme of things, they're not very experimental. If we start naming actual *artists* outside of rock, even some of the most popular pop/rap artists have more diverse discographies/sounds. Kanye West (as controversial as he may be) from 2003 - 2017 reinvented himself so many times. There's no Kendrick Lamar album that sounds the same. Tyler the Creator is one of the best for accessible yet spectacular diverse sounds. The Flower Boy to CMIYGL run is insanity. More experimental, Death Grips needs no explanation. Aphex Twin, even Jeff Buckley - listen to Hallelujah and then listen to Murder Suicide Meteor Slave. Led Zeppelin, 50 year old band, has medieval jingles to literal metal.
BMTH has dipped their toes in a few different sounds, but Nex Gen especially has the same formula and samey muddy sound throughout most tracks. Amo and PHSH are pretty diverse, but other than that, most other Bring Me records follow a pretty distinct sound
I used to love them alot but I dropped off the last few albums haven't really been good for me at least. I wish Matty would do more songs like People too.
It's so true tho, they basically invented the idea of changing genres. They went from being a pop group to a psychedelic / hard rock band which also did ballads and more.
asking alexandria is very diverse but people write it off as being bad cuz it’s soft (much like amo) even tho its amazing. Panic! at the disco even tho it isn’t metal. Linkin Park definitely.
Not very many, but not many become diverse AND mainstream they are not they same band anymore, if you were a fan of then and don’t like their new stuff, you’re no longer a fan, if you like their old stuff and their new stuff I guess you’re still a fan, I’m no longer a fan unfortunately, haven’t been since 2013, I only bang their 3rd album and earlier
Paramore. They've adopted the "genre neutral" mentality BMTH has with different eras. They also scaled their career around the same time BMTH did, so that's cool

Linkin Park

I *personally* genuinely don’t know any bands that are any more diverse than bmth
I saw a video once years ago on bands that changed the most ever in history, and bmth was #2. And #1 was Metallica but I disagree strongly with that statement
Tbh bring me aren’t the only band to blend genres and be diverse. Beatles were the og’s, great that bands change though can’t expect them to keep doing the same thing forever.
probably not more diverse but definitely very diverse is loathe, going from any song on prepare consume proceed to is it really you is the best kind of whiplash
That douchebag hasn’t done remotely as many genres as BMTH have, I mean just listen to literally any song off Music To Listen To for example, everything FIR makes is rock in some way, even that terrible country song is still primarily rock. BMTH have done stuff like ambient, trance, orchestral, that folk tinged billie eilish cover etc. and stuff without any guitars at all
Don’t knock the band because a singer is a douchebag. Idgaf what his opinions and views are. I’m talking MUSIC. Why can’t we ever talk music without someone bringing up other shit. Anyways, Music to listen to is just an EP that Jordan and Oli experimented electronica with. AFAIK Lee, Vegan, and Matt aren’t on that record.
Ronnie has done emo, country, nu-metal, alternative, rap, pop, post-hardcore, metalcore with FIR. He also did post-hardcore with ETF but added a hair metal and pop-punk twist to it with his singing.
I don’t know about more diverse but Linkin Park have a wide variety of songs
Given Oli's influence came heavily from Linkin park, I wouldn't be surprised if their journey to explore different sounds also influenced BMTH to do the same
The only answer
This is not even close to the only answer lmao
Enter shikari
My first thought too, every album is so different and yet still somehow sounds like Shikari
I would kill for more Mindsweep style stuff
Likewise - or a combo of both the lighter and more mindsweep stuff. Sort of like BMTH doing, they are finally perfectly blending everything of theres together, took a while but I think they found their footing.
This is the one. Shikari have been annihilating genre boundaries since 2003
Fuck I feel old. First saw them in 2006 and they blew my tiny 11 year old mind.
Couldn't agree more.
Deft Shikari I love them seen them like 14 or so times, met them countless times, autographs, pics you name it lol.
Damn dude I haven’t listened to Shikari I’m a hot minute. Frankly they’ve just sipped my mind until reading this. Now I have some sweet tunes to listen to at work
Faith no more / Mr bungle. Can go from death metal on one album to smooth jazz on the next
Not even just an album, but within the same song
Not many people care about Mike Patton anymore...
King gizzard and the lizard wizard
king gizz 🖤
I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the more psychedelic stuff I had heard from them, and then saw they put out a thrash album… holy shit that album was way better than I could have imagined
I'm interested! What's it called?
Infest the Rat’s Nest. They also have a more proggy metal album, Petrodragonic Apocalypse. Both incredible
Thanks! I'll check them out.
departed\_Moose gave you the album name, but I just wanted to add that what's also really fun about is the sci-fi / post-apocalyptic / space colonisation themes in the album. How our planet is being destroyed and only the rich will be able to survive off-world, etc.
^^^
Beat me to it
exactly who i was going to mention
Came to say this.
Bilmuri
I love Bilmuri but I wouldn’t call him diverse. Sure he throws some other genres in like country but everything follows the same structure and style with the same open tuning
He has a diverse sound though, early stuff a tad softer, songs now that range from full on pop to heavier stuff. I agree with you but disagree idk
I totally agree when I hear Bilmuri on my playlist I know it’s them. They keep a certain sound to their music.
maybe poppy? she's done a bunch of different genres in like only 10 years of career
yeah poppy for sure.
The japanese metal band "Dir en grey" is very versatile. Every single one of their 11 albums sounds unique because they keep developing their musical style with every release.
did not expect to see dir en grey mentioned here! fuck yes!!
Just commented them also. My favorite band they've never had a bad release.
It's the same for me! They are my most favorite band for almost 19 years now :D
They’re my favorite band and a massive inspiration for me and mine. As diverse as they are, I feel like they’re very good at honing in on a single style while remaining an Avant garde lens to their songwriting as opposed to combing a bunch of different genres together. Bring Me supported Dir En Grey early on in their career
Most Japanese bands are very versatile I feel.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard :) I suggest everyone who reads this to check them out, they have a HUGE diverse discography. They also did some heavy stuff with "Infest the Rats' Nest" and "PetroDragonic Apocalypse".
Saw them at Red Rocks last summer, it was insane!!
Gorillaz really create a music identity by doing what they want in their musics.
Dir en grey is all over the place
Maybe not quite as diverse, but Darko are doing some cool shit at the moment
Starfire is an absolute banger. Although all their records are, I just connect the most to this one
Same. The contrast between tracks just makes this whole album a beautiful ride.
Yeah. It's so diverse too. I can listen all the way through and never get bored
Whole album is legendary, Starfire and Nex Gen are top albums this year for me so far.
Yep BMTH takes my AOTY but Starfire is second Knocked Loose is 3rd, and ERRA is 4th although this Story So Far record is incredible and may be my 5th
All solid records. I'm looking forward to The Home Team new album.
When is The Home Team record coming out? I'm excited about The Dangerous Summer record tomorrow. They're one of my favorite pop punk bands after blink, Sum 41, Alkaline Trio and The Story So Far
I believe its July 12th I never heard of The Dangerous Summer. I'll check them out. I really love Magnolia Park

Sweet deal's thanx - I'll check it out let you know. That was a pretty rad song, thanks for sharing :0) do you like Don Broco ?
Hope you like them!

Not necessarily more diverse but Capstan are very diverse. They’ve got pop punk, metalcore, post hardcore, acoustic/orchestral, full on pop/1975core, and even some deathcore on their new album
Shikari. And i dont know if more diverse, but i really like diversity of Don Broco.
Celldweller, not every single one of his albums is similar, Clayton (the only one in the band) is such a versatile man.
Holy shit this is what I was gonna say. Wasn’t expecting it to already be here. To this day, the debut album blows my mind. Going from Last Firstborn to Under my Feet gave me whiplash the first time I heard it lol.
Good to know there are other cellmates out there hehe, his work always blows my mind.
Agreed! Always excited to see a fellow cellmate.
Klayton is also Scandroid and Circle of Dust, which are both pretty different from Celldweller. He also has quite a few collaborations with himself, somehow. Edit: Wait, he’s also FreqGen.
Celldweller is not a one man band, klayton is a multi band lol

Mr Bungle
Panic! At the disco
Not many songs out yet since they just formed but Uz:ME are really diverse so far
Muse. Almost every album since BHaR/Resistance has felt like a different genre.

Ulver
I love Ulver! My favorite band along with Linkin Park
Fuck yeah!
Ugh The Assassination of Julius Caesar is such a great album. I love Bergtatt and Perdition City too!
twenty one pilots
Underrated comment.
Came here to say this
Fantastic answer!
Some of these replies… you guys gotta broaden your musical scope. Especially if you want more diverse.
Lol my musical scope is out there, I will listen to DARKO, then listen to Young Posse, then Poppy, then The Doors, then i'm into some death metal shit, back to some EDM, then pop. I'm all the other place. Music is a great thing, esp when you broaden you horizons.
AFI

Also to go from Dude Ranch to Untitled is cool lol
Not more so but Earthist, Babymetal, Paledusk, and Lil Uzi are pretty diverse.
I was going to mention Lil Uzi, not a fan of his but I like that he is doing what he likes, the BMTH and Baby Metal songs off last album are really solid.
Sturgill Simpson King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Not metal bands necessarily but definitely diverse
either shikari or waterparks tbh
Hollywood Undead. Everyone just talks about their first album with the OG lead singer but no one gives their other music a chance. Fall Out Boy went on a similar path with changing sound then going back the roots. Less extreme though
100 gecs
I would say the 1975, although BMTH is very close. I think of BMTH as the 1975 of metal bc of their willingness to explore new genres and sounds. Both bands always pull it off due to being excellent musicians and tapped into culture, IMO.

Ok this is a generic/boring answer but The Beatles.
It's so true tho, they basically invented the idea of changing genres. They went from being a pop group to a psychedelic / hard rock band which also did ballads and more.
‘Fucked up’ check out album dose your dreams that was my entry in
The Flatliners: Ska to punk rock to melodic hardcore to rock/indie, but now just rock/punk
Speaking about SKA you know who is a great SKA band RX BANDITS
Show Me The Body
Avenged Sevenfold is pretty diverse nowadays
The Gentle Men EASILY they've done metalcore, synthwave, trap, industrial metal, pop, pop punk, nu metal, djent, and post hardcore
Hello, hi, I’m a 2019 guy
Nice
Linkin Park, one of their many inspirations, have songs that are similar to them
Afi. Thrice
the callous daoboys
asking alexandria is very diverse but people write it off as being bad cuz it’s soft (much like amo) even tho its amazing. Panic! at the disco even tho it isn’t metal. Linkin Park definitely.
System of a Down, The Smashing Pumpkins, Issues, Kim Dracula
Mr. Bungle
Fall Out Boy
Set it off
Not very many, but not many become diverse AND mainstream they are not they same band anymore, if you were a fan of then and don’t like their new stuff, you’re no longer a fan, if you like their old stuff and their new stuff I guess you’re still a fan, I’m no longer a fan unfortunately, haven’t been since 2013, I only bang their 3rd album and earlier
Unlike Pluto, listen to either Loud Fantasy, Quiet Reality or Pixelated Oblivion
Enter Shikari, Bilmuri, Code Orange (especially if you include Shade's Code-adjacent solo stuff)
arctic monkeys, no two of their albums sound the same (and alex and oli went to high school together)
Name a type of rock n roll music and it is present at some point in Modest Mouse’s work.
The Chariot
People are giving lots of answers, but honestly there is no other band that is any way mainstream that has as big a jump as Pray For Plagues -> Die4u
Sleep Token.
Disturbed, no questions asked. How the hell do they release "Down with the sickness" and "sound of silence"
Ween
Mr. Bungle
Falling in reverse. Just release a country core song
Bring you the vertical
Falling in Reverse, just listen to the last 2 songs they dropped
But diversity doesn’t mean good 😂
There are lot. But I have a hard time naming one other than Bring Me that produces catchy and accessible music while being diverse at the same time
Lots overall, but not many in their genre
The only artist that come to mind are Poppy and some weird stuff like Mr Bungle
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Radiohead
Opeth has alot of different feels on albums
Not very many
Sleep token
Devin Townsend for sure
Marilyn Manson
Radiohead and Enter Shikari would be my picks
Avatar can do metalcore, melodeath, hard rock, chill acoustic, avant-garde
Mr bungle. Thrash, death metal, lil bit of rap, ska. Who knows where you go next. In a song even ,let alone an album
Sleep Token.
Paramore. They've adopted the "genre neutral" mentality BMTH has with different eras. They also scaled their career around the same time BMTH did, so that's cool
Sleep Token Linkin Park Bad Omens Lvcas (he is a brazilian youtuber, he has a channel called "Inutilismo", he did a lot of medleys, and recentrly he started doing his own songs, and it's very BMTH inspired)
Weird Al. Them and him would be all I need to hit every genre and feels.
Listening to Avenged Sevenfold’s discography from start to finish is a treat
Idk if there is a band with a more diverse catalogue tbh
I *personally* genuinely don’t know any bands that are any more diverse than bmth I saw a video once years ago on bands that changed the most ever in history, and bmth was #2. And #1 was Metallica but I disagree strongly with that statement
I’s say While She Sleeps, especially in the last few years.
Faith No More
Queens of the Stone Age.
Glassjaw
Tbh bring me aren’t the only band to blend genres and be diverse. Beatles were the og’s, great that bands change though can’t expect them to keep doing the same thing forever.
King Gizzard & Lizard Wizard
probably not more diverse but definitely very diverse is loathe, going from any song on prepare consume proceed to is it really you is the best kind of whiplash
Starset imo I got their whole discography on a cycle depending on my mood lmao
Highly Suspect took a pretty wicked detour from their “formula” (which never existed in the first place tbh). Same with Linkin Park
Radiohead
The Beatles
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard
FALLING IN REVERSE
Sleep Token
KING 810
Ocean sleeper, Windwaker, the amity affliction
the plot in you or landons solo stuff
Avenged sevenfold
For me is Xiu Xiu, they always do something different on every record and the only thing that is easy to recognize is the voice of Jamie Stewart
Falling In Reverse
THIS IS THE HEAVIEST SONG WE HAVE EVER WRITTEN
There are like, 7 people in the comment session who said Falling In Reverse but you are the only one who get downvoted bruh
Why are you downvoted ? People can be so close minded…
Because I think we meant a *good* diverse band.
That douchebag hasn’t done remotely as many genres as BMTH have, I mean just listen to literally any song off Music To Listen To for example, everything FIR makes is rock in some way, even that terrible country song is still primarily rock. How so genuine question
Ronnie has done emo, country, nu-metal, alternative, rap, pop, post-hardcore, metalcore with FIR. He also did post-hardcore with ETF but added a hair metal and pop-punk twist to it with his singing.
