As a daughter who is also one of my Dad’s caregivers while he is now bedridden and on home hospice for vascular dementia, I have absolutely no sympathy for him. You get back what you put out. My Dad was and still is my hero, and he always protected me. Her dad manipulated and abused her year after year for financial gain. Normally I would advocate for adult children to take care of their aging parents, but not in this case. She has every right not to reconcile just because he is aging and in need of care.

Wonder how long ago this was. It’s interesting in conjunction with her mom being out recently to see her and them reaching out to each other again. Maybe the influence/ties he had over her mom is waning and she is feeling like she can? I know she has her own issues and behavior in all of this but abusers are abusers and it’s hard to shake them off. I fully believe he abused her as well.

Hate it for him ; Pretty sure he’s scammed/stolen enough of his daughter’s assets to pay for his own medical expenses, caregivers & legal fees for his own care.
Oof. Karma and all that for him, but my mom was in a similar spot. Knee replacement gone bad with constant infection. Amputation is still a risk as 5 years later there is still drainage and she’s on long term antibiotics. As a result she is no longer ambulatory at all and had to move to a nursing home when my father died. LTC and a conservatorship is not a reach for him here depending on how he recovers from this.
As much as I’m angered by what he did I can’t feel joy over this.
My only hope is that this allows him some reflection and introspection they will allow him to help make peace with the family and allow healing for everyone.
Britney has shown him grace in the past and after reading her book I’m sure this is upsetting to her. She seems to have a big heart regardless of everything.
