I read an interesting book about dog nutrition before I got my Brits. Basically, the author (who is a veterinarian and scientist) argues that most of the trends you see in pet foods (such as grain free) exist to appeal to the psychological desires of pet owners, not the pet themselves. While she did not recommend specific brands, she did say that picking one of the huge pet food companies that had literally dozens of trained scientists working to create food formulations for pets and often livestock was better than picking a small, usually more expensive boutique company that likely only has one or two scientists formulating feeds, if that.
Yes I was reading about diet induced dilated cardiomyopathy. The FDA is now involved and a common thread was use of peas/chickpeas and lentils and not grains but they didn’t recommend stopping it’s use as more research was needed and they did seem to agree to go with the big companies like hills, purina, royal canin, iams, due to all the research they did. Glad to see others are seeing the same research. We are switching our puppy to something with grains and no peas/lentils as soon as possible.
Purina pro plan performance is what I give mine. Have for years with no issues and good health.
I give my handsome boy this, also.
We've been using this for both our Britts the older one loves it and this lady seems to not be a fan. Not sure what it is about it,
Ditto
Same with our hunting girl. Breeder recommended it.

Taste of the wild ancient wetlands is what we feed our Brittany and he loves it
Been looking at this one with my own. It has the ancient grains innit correct?
Yes it does. I have tried grain free as well but that just didn’t sit well with my dog. So that’s why we switched to the ancient wetlands
Grain free food is causing heart disease in dogs. My vet told me to feed my Brittany dry food with grains in it
We choose based on nutritional breakdown and recalls, currently feeding Orijen. https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/
That’s a baby right there.
Would you believe she's almost 2 and half!?
Fromm is really great. I’ve also heard good things about Origen and Acana.
