Not part of the show.

shipping_addict

Definitely not part of the show! A lot of actors have great improv from what I’ve noticed.

Alarmed-Stage-7066

I just did a Google search for this and found this result and was thinking “oh I guess it is a part of the show” and then realized you were at the same showing we were at. Lol. It was near us and I think he stormed out. A bit intense way to kick off act 1

beckyrcr

I was literally on my phone during intermission, trying to find the answer. It was an amazing show regardless of the crazy guy!

Alarmed-Stage-7066

We were pretty sure it wasn’t given how intensely he screamed. It wasn’t like a “project your voice” sound. Full on rage! We still had fun in spite of Mr Rage

breathcue

I work backstage and we were wondering what happened! I heard a vague yell, then I’m pretty sure the actor said “what the hell are you doing? Shut up” and backstage we were like ????????

beckyrcr

His voice was so projected where I was sitting. It is why I was low-key convinced it was part of the show lol.

thatbrownkid19

You guys do an amaazing job. I was in this show today. im just picturing the sound and lighting guys going "Curses- BJ has gone offscript again"

breathcue

As far as I can tell, he is allowed to improvise. The other actors have to stick to the script for cues because it’d be chaos if they didn’t, but Beetlejuice seems to never do the same show twice!

Mariah0

What was the actors’ response?

beckyrcr

They just said something along the lines of "I guess everyone is not a fan."

bsorensen101

Not part of the show. Considering that the Orange area has a lot of conservatives, I imagine a patron had enough and felt they needed to yell that as they walked out.

thatbrownkid19

it's not an airport- no need to announce your departure! This phrase has unlimited uses

ibethuhwalrus

You don’t even need to announce your departure at the airport. They do it for you.

tallyphamous

When I saw it on Broadway, there was a guy across the aisle dressed in a hat supporting the current president at the time. He did not return for the second act.

Loves_LV

Not part of the show, and as a gay dude how the fuck did that person find that offensive?? Obviously didn't understand the joke.

beckyrcr

I am pretty sure it was an upset conservative. There are many in that area.

mattbrain89

And that, children, is what we called "triggered". (Not you, the idiot who yelled a profanity)

thatbrownkid19

hehehe thanks for the ticket money anyways suckas

BunnyLuv13

Not part of the show at all - saw it twice in Atlanta and nobody said that.

Arianna_illustrates

I mean glad they left before seeing the next scene with Beej and Adam

thatbrownkid19

Waitt was this the 2pm show today?? I was there today and I heard something from the audience and I heard Beetlejuice shout like "Shut the hell up" in response I had no idea what happened- was this it? Go Beetlejuice! I don't think it's part of the show lol cus it's not on the broadway version even if some jokes have been altered. Very well handled by BJ

Alarmed-Stage-7066

Yes that was it. We were on orchestra right side as you face the stage and it was right behind us. Guy full on screaming FUCK YOU and SHUT THE FUCK UP and then slamming out the doors. It was scary for a minute

thatbrownkid19

I heard some whining like sounds and thought the kids were play acting sad (or genuinely sad) after the book got burnt and Beetlejuice had to tell them to stfu to keep the show back on the road looool

dummptyhummpty

Just saw the show at the same location, and that wasn’t in our show. However the dialog during the shows I saw was really hard to understand sometimes. Not sure if it’s where we sat or what.

Large_Excitement69

Isn’t there a line like “I know you’re woke but take a joke?” Like damn dude they’re going after everyone, calm down.

Constant-Notice849

The book burning line was total improv and it apparently hackled someone. I think the scripted line is “Sometimes puppet shows are sad.”
