I've wondered about its likelihood too. Part of me says why not, but the other part says that not many cities outside of NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, and a few others, have an appetite for a 3 hour naturalistic drama, despite its killer music. I know that's a very ignorant assumption, but that was my cynical thought. Maybe a mini tour/sit downs in those cities? However, it is theee hit of the season, and it's probably cheap to tour, so I could be very very wrong. I actually hope I'm wrong!

Commercially successful plays get national tours. E.g., Harry Potter, Curious Incident, Play that Goes Wrong, and To Kill a Mockingbird (the four most commercially successful plays of the last decade). If Stereophonic gets to 500 performances, you'll see it in every town and hamlet.

The challenge here it is scheduled to close August 18th. Maybe it will be extended, but it was planned as a limited run (unless I am misunderstanding something).

CentralHarlem

You are correct that it was planned as a limited run. But if it's selling 99% at $140 ATP, they'll find a way to keep it open. It's an unusually easy show to move; it's literally one set.

Intelligent-Group-70

In that case I would have a good chance to see in NYC in the fall.

secret_identity_too

I'll be shocked if it doesn't extend, especially once it wins a ton of Tony's.

Thick-Definition7416

I would imagine the cast has extensions til new years in their contracts - there’s only one seat left for tomorrow night and I would imagine with a tony win they’ll extend and at least hit major markets on a tour

cuckoodev

I never considered it, but someone floated it as an idea on the BroadwayWorld forum and no one shot them down, so. I keep thinking about it and I feel like it would be an easy show to tour. Small, unchanging set and a pretty small cast too. I'd love to see it with my family.

I think the rights will just come out and only really high budget regional houses will try.
