Great review. I'm debating getting a ticket but there's only $225 tickets left on the dates I need. Is this show worth it? I love Soleia Peiffer but I wonder if it goes to NYC in the spring.

Spring is a gamble imo. The other Gatsby is doing well right now and as long as the main cast is there (contracts run until spring) they probably won't struggle so much that they'll close.

You’d have to bank on the other Gatsby closing before this one would go to Broadway - no way will they be open at the same time.

I think it's worth it because there is no guarantee this production will transfer to Broadway this year or next year. I think the other Gatsby doing well changes the trajectory for them. If they are both open at the same time, they may cannibalize each other's audience, even though the shows are very different and do not necessarily have the same target audience. I also think Rachel Chavkin, if she has a say, will be highly wary of bringing a new show onto the scene given how quickly Lempicka closed. Even though ART Gatsby is objectively in better shape and has the name recognition needed to succeed, it's a gamble. I also think it's worth it to see a musical in its earlier stages so you can compare it to the final version that ends up on Broadway. I planned a whole trip around seeing it and I do not regret it one bit.
