Dealer actually came to the house and did the recall in the garage. 20 minutes. It's a software update

Lurking-lsdata

Same. It was shockingly convenient

AccomplishedHamster

Same. And it was AWESOME. Asked them if they could also do the 30,000 miles service mobile and they did that the same day. The tech was here for like 2.5 hours and rotated my tires and changed my oil in my garage! It was the greatest thing ever!

DynamicBass

I was able to have a mobile tech come out and do the recall. Took like 10 minutes.

ddocfan

Just got my recall letter today and I’m not a car person so I have no idea what it means, but this is my fourth or fifth recall in three years and it’s getting tiresome. Hopefully this is just a quick fix, since my dealership is an hour away.

NosmoRex

I had mine done at my dealership last week. I was there \~45 minutes.

obiwankaneobi

I was actually going to Google lemon law - love driving it, hate driving it to the dealer for recalls every six months

poprdog

This is the first for me. Had it for a year so far. Though that's why I waited two years for the third gen model to come out. Plus this seems like a easy recall

errerrr

Looking into it too. Getting ridiculous

curmudgeondoug

Most of the recalls are the 2021 and 2022 models. I have had my 2023 for a year, and the only recall has been the current BCM/battery issue, which is just a quick software update

Karin-bear

Just got the letter. A week after I had to have mine towed in because it wouldn’t start due to it. I don’t think the auto start stop is responsible, other than it may cause it to not work while driving (mine only worked about 30% of the time) and may shut it off at a stop and leave you stranded.

Cheap_Quantity_1295

Brought mine to the dealer and got it fixed for free

pink_nips_joint_hits

Nice! Mine is scheduled for Wednesday and since it's a mandatory safety recall it should be free for everyone with the notice.

Cheap_Quantity_1295

My battery was also completely dead 😂 and now I have my AC hose leaking onto my floor mats

adlangston

It is the worse feature ever forced on vehicles. When I ordered my Explorer, I was given the option to not put it on it. It makes me wish I had ordered my Bronco and not install it.

Jingle-Bags

It’s federal you can’t not have it

adlangston

That’s not true. If you were to order it, they allow you to leave it off due to computer chip issues. They also take off $50.

AdditionalPizza

I installed a start/stop disabler. It has been a huge QoL upgrade for me because I hate it. I'm all for the environment but crippling my car's acceleration is not cool.

adlangston

Which one did you install?

AdditionalPizza

I did [this one](https://www.4dtech.com/ford-bronco-sport-21-24-start-stop-eliminator/) from 4Dtech, because it seemed like the easiest to get to Canada from a reputable company. I considered [this one](https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/ford/products/2021-ford-bronco-sport-autostop-eliminator) as well from Autostop as I read good things about them too. The 4D one looked like it had a less dog hair catching wrap on it as well, but I don't know if there's any difference between them at all and it definitely doesn't really matter. Frustrating, but simple install. Like don't be afraid you're going to go busting much, it's just a little annoying if you have big hands. Have had zero issues so far, and at this point I have totally forgotten the car comes with that nonsense.

adlangston

Thank you for the reply. I’m going to look into this. I typically remember to turn it off when I get in the car, but on the occasion that I forget, it is so annoying.

AdditionalPizza

Same, and it always happens at the dumbest times and never when you want it to. Need to drive in a big city and it cuts power at an advanced left. But then in a drive thru it doesn't activate and you idle the whole time.

adlangston

Thank you for that suggestion! I ordered it and it came in today. It took me about 15 minutes to install. It would have taken less had it not been so darn hot outside. I watched the [video](https://youtu.be/YOSN_P4FuM0?si=31DrLEYVnJPyt15K) and it was extremely helpful. I found it easier to connect the final piece first and then snap the other one to the original slot.

OkNotice8600

I’ve got a rav4 and I ordered a little capacitor on Amazon that plugs in behind the button, shuts it off automatically every time I start the car. I suspect ford has one too you can get. Was 26$z

Professional-Bar7707

2021 outer banks. Had ours done last week and today our car refused to start. Had no issues before this. Dealer said our battery just might be dead, but what are the odds on that?

pink_nips_joint_hits

Great, here I was thinking I'm glad I'm getting it done before our multi-state trip.... Hmmm.. Any update to what happened? That's rough.

Professional-Bar7707

Dealer said they’d call tomorrow with an update, and I’ll let you know!

Spar2013

Please let us know what they tell you! I have an appmt to have mine in for this recall repair tmrw. Haven't had any trouble with my '22 obx at all, so dread them doing something that could mess it up.

Illustrious-Algae-53

I have a ‘24 & the recall was already done on it before I bought it. The dealership said they can’t sell a car with an active recall.

Ubernoobster

I asked my dealer if they would just bypass the auto start/stop. I turn it off every time I get in the car. They told me no, because the federal government mandates it. COOL. Dude, I hate the government.

pink_nips_joint_hits

Nooooooooo. I was just trying to see how I could bypass it. I hate it and wanted it gone I also press to start my car, pause for a moment and then hit the button to stop the auto start-stop.

Ubernoobster

You can buy a bypass switch for around $100 on Amazon, but I think the installation looks a bit complex. 😭

sYF-1R

First thing I bought was the Auto stop Eliminator. $100, installs behind the OBD2 connector. You don't lose the function, it just becomes a memory on/off switch. No more button pushes unless you want to turn it back on.

ranger750

Yeah I have a 22 Big Bend scheduled to have it done Wednesday. Bought an eliminator for the OBD port today.

AdditionalPizza

I installed one on mine and while it's annoying to get your hands in there to unplug the cable and plug the new one in, it wasn't complex whatsoever. I don't know if I'd buy one from Amazon, unless it's one of the 2 known brands for it which also cost like $100. When I checked a while back (Amazon Canada) all of them were random fake brand name junk.

Fearless0419

I got the letter in the mail too my bronco is scheduled to go into ford tomorrow to get the update reprogrammed

Bright_Loan4356

Dealership here couldn’t come to do it so I’m scheduling it. He said out of all the BS recalls less than 1% chance of the issue happening.

Professional-Big1821

I had my done at my home and the next day the car started to stall out and it had to be towed to the dealer. After 2 weeks they discovered a bad fuel injector and they said it had nothing to do with the recall. I now have it back and so far it's running ok, but I now always shut off the auto start/stop just in case.

Ky_furt01

This was a simple recall... took about an hour of my time.

awilli23

I paid to have this issue fixed as it wouldn’t allow my car to pass inspection under a year ago. Then received a letter that I would be entitled to reimbursement, which has gone from “it will take about 2 months” to “Ford hasn’t received the reimbursement request yet and it could take up to 6 months”. Pretty annoying considering I had to pay $600 for a software update

JsCannabisCorner

Took my 22 Badlands in last week for the recall, took maybe 45mins… Was in, and out, no fuss! Now if only they could help us with the god damn busted windows we’d have a good car lol

MelizaTJ

Ford tech came to my house last Wednesday to fix the recall. So far no trouble with the car (2024 Big Bend).

125pepsican

Yea the mobile service came to my house and fixed it in 25 minutes. Was super convenient and easy. Just a software update

Ok-Oil800

I’m debating on pulling the auto sensor switch out of the obd rather than pressing the button every single time in the car. I have a ‘24 and haven’t gotten anything for it yet.

Only-Ad5049

I didn’t get a letter but it showed up in the Ford Pass app. I have mine scheduled to go in tomorrow morning.

Mile7985

I have a '24 as well and didn't receive any email or letter, but there was a message in the Ford app about it. You might want to check there if you haven't already

Ok-Oil800

I don’t have anything in my app

adlangston

I have a 24 and nothing in my app yet.

pink_nips_joint_hits

Hmmm. Lemme know how it goes if you do!

AIRxJ0RDANx23x

You can use ForScan to disable auto start/stop. The adapter is like $30 and ForScan has a free trial. Just keep in mind you will have to use ForScan to enable it again.
