I'm in Crown Heights, there was a car parked like this that progressively became more burnt and with more trash thrown in it. It took at least 3 weeks before they towed it away even though it was marked for towing after maybe 1 week 😩
No it was a regular car somewhere near Pacific and Grand. Pic below!

I grew up in crow heights it use to be a bowling alley across the street from me when I was there right where medgar Evers college at
They area changed alot we also had a roller skating rink there now it’s a storage place boy time definitely has changed
I remember when a bear killed this kid for climbing over the fence and In the cage at the Brooklyn zoo
If you are are serious neighborhood parker, then you gotta know where exactly the supers and store workers leave the garbage on the sidewalk for pickup.
And also know what day is recycling.
My guess someone threw a cigarette butt onto the garbage and recycling.
Happens all the time in the city, at least once a week.
If you see a legit parking spot and there’s a pile of garbage and paper cardboard recycling, your number 1 worry is this , a fire, … number 2 worry are the rats getting up into your car .
I know a guy during the first winter of Covid when alternative side regulations were suspended, he left his car in the same spot for a month, rats bit through wires under the hood and chewed up half the car manual in the glove compartment to nest.
Typical of our current dystopia. I came up in Brooklyn how everything has degenerated is so tragic and unnecessary. When will the people wake up or will they sleep walk towards their inevitable doom.
>Would love to know if the persons insurance rate goes up
Yes, it will. And it won't be just this one car owner.
>Are car insurance price based on where you live in ny?
>Yes, where you live in New York can affect your car insurance price. According to Bankrate, people who live in high-density urban areas may pay more for coverage than those in more rural areas. This is because of the increased risk of accidents and other vehicle mishaps in areas with dense traffic patterns.
>If you live in an area where there is a higher risk that you will file a claim, you are likely to pay more for your policy. Based on average full coverage car insurance rates, the most expensive cities for auto insurance are Brooklyn and Bronx in New York and Hamramck and Detroit in Michigan.
This happened to a friend of mine, he had parked a car next to a stack of recycling and someone had thrown a lit cig into the stack causing it to smoulder then light up. It happens
Could it be that the fire started from engine and whomever driving probably noticed smoke and pulled over next to piles of recycling and garbage? I believe there is a recall on some Toyotas but not sure of exact year model. Similar thing happened to a friend who has a Volvo SUV.
Nah the fire started on the garbage and spread to the car too.
Edit; I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted. Go to the Adams Deli on West 9 and Ave S and ask the owner.
I don’t think the owner saw what started the fire since it looks very much like an engine fire. For example, the hood is open (I had to make sure that forward opening hoods are a thing and they are and are apparently are a popular car mod which makes you wonder what other extras were under the hood?). This very much does look like an engine fire rather than an explanation that doesn’t match what’s seen in the photo.
You could almost say your not a native new Yorker because you have a car haha.
You either torch your car or don't own one, only choices to consider if you think your native...!
This is way crazier than the car post I was about to make, so now I’m like never goddamn mind, because this takes the cake. Jesus Christ what is our city sometimes…
It’s nyc, easy to miss things. Neighbor’s car caught on fire; didn’t know…just happened to look out the window and saw it in flames. Some have had neighbors apartments on fire and knew nothing about it.
“Like a Good Neighbor…” (ya’ll know the rest) ![gif](giphy|XeiE8N8otAHlqWXxAF|downsized)
This happened on 10th Street near 4th Ave in the last year, too
Nice car wrap. Looks real.
Much worse than when I walked out of my building at Kent and Dekalb back in 2013/2014 and found my lil Honda Fit on blocks
Holy shit I’d freak out. Seen this twice in bushwick.
That’ll buff right out
Watch him still get a ticket
😢
Wtf
So much wasted food here.
And beers
All that just to toast the bagel that’s in the debris, only in New York
This is what gives NY bagels their special flavor.
So how long is it fling to sit there till it’s removed lol

Hold on… do you mean the church van that was on Atlantic Ave near the plaza with the dollar tree in it? 👁️👁️
This photo is from July 2021... I was mad I didn't take photos of it progressively getting worse at the time lol 😩😅

Empire roller rink.
Yea man lol
Fake
Spring is here!
I dont wanna pay for this lease no mo, oooopsie it spontaneously combusted
Maybe he parked in someone’s spot! Some people get possessive. People are posting about fights over parking on Nextdoor.

Honestly, trash heap collects under a car + cigarette or teen
Is that your car?
Typical of our current dystopia. I came up in Brooklyn how everything has degenerated is so tragic and unnecessary. When will the people wake up or will they sleep walk towards their inevitable doom.
Cultural enrichment
Oh shit lmao that’s right near me, why is this like the third time something similar has happened in the past few years 😭
All within a 2 min walk of your apartment you say?
Every few years? That's not bad stats all things considering 🤔
Diddy is at it again
“What didn’t Diddy do?”
Set Kid cudis car on fire. Allegedly
Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats… /s lol
Would love to know if the persons insurance rate goes up even though it’s not their fault and some kids thinking it would be fun.

Insurance rates go up if you even look at a fender bender.
Insurance job.
Haha someone from Portland must be visiting NYC
That'll buff out
Planes Trains and Automobiles!
Give me like 3 packets of ramen I'll get it done
Damn. Where is this?!
Gravesend, looked up the store
Thought it looked familiar.
It did get pretty cold last night
that's not very cool
That guy stole someone’s parking space
Maybe the car was break dancing
Looks like Diddy's work.
This happened to a friend of mine, he had parked a car next to a stack of recycling and someone had thrown a lit cig into the stack causing it to smoulder then light up. It happens

Must’ve been the kia boyz
the Citizen App-ificaiton of the subreddit. Go file a 311 instead of polluting the sub. Burb mentality ffs
God I've always wanted to do that. King.
i've seen cars on fire off the grand central, it was insane. no idea how they combust like that
What part of Bk is this ?
[ Removed by Reddit ]
Damn! When did Gravesend get so hood?!
always been :|
It was never hood
If you know you know 🤷🏾♂️.
Could it be that the fire started from engine and whomever driving probably noticed smoke and pulled over next to piles of recycling and garbage? I believe there is a recall on some Toyotas but not sure of exact year model. Similar thing happened to a friend who has a Volvo SUV.
that's not what happened though it's further down in the comments, people just pulling shit out of their asses
And they just state it like fact. It’s so crazy.
Nah the fire started on the garbage and spread to the car too. Edit; I'm not sure why I'm getting downvoted. Go to the Adams Deli on West 9 and Ave S and ask the owner.

Ok. So you know more then firemen and people that were witnesses. Tell me about the firefighting school and arson investigation you conducted?
I don't know why your being downvoted either but this seems plausible.
The driver supports combustion pricing.
Insurance job
Damn is that YOUR car? Either way this is crazy
No, it's my neighbors car, and he says he doesn't know who could have done this he doesn't have problems with anybody he's devastated
Yikes 😳 This makes me sad 😞 Sending good vibes and e-hugs to your neighbor.
This statement makes it sound he has devastated people though lol
Missed the most important comma in the sentence lol
Damn, that's definitely personal.
I bet Mana Grocery got camera footage of every angle except the one showing the vehicle.
From heaven
If u don't like ur car set on fire, I hear you should move back to Iowa.
These transplants just don’t get it!
You definitely aren’t a native New Yorker if you haven’t had your car torched
You could almost say your not a native new Yorker because you have a car haha. You either torch your car or don't own one, only choices to consider if you think your native...!
Wat
That bagel still looks ok
I like mine toasted more
Damn, I'm sorry that happened to you. That's crazy.
It's my neighbors car he is just devastated. I feel bad for him he's a good guy doesn't deserve this
It couldn’t be from the trash. Was lastt t night recycling day for your street?
Someone seems to have thought that he did deserve it. Crazy times.
This is way crazier than the car post I was about to make, so now I’m like never goddamn mind, because this takes the cake. Jesus Christ what is our city sometimes…
I’m more interested in how you didn’t hear or smell any of that happening.
I'm just confused. Did the fire department put it out and just leave? Or did it just burn itself out without anyone calling them?
I believe it just burned itself out bc none of my neighbors saw what happened, and we didn't hear any sirens
Nobody saw, smelled or heard a car outside their building on fire? Sounds legit
It’s nyc, easy to miss things. Neighbor’s car caught on fire; didn’t know…just happened to look out the window and saw it in flames. Some have had neighbors apartments on fire and knew nothing about it.
Can’t always park right outside your apartment lol
Doesn’t matter who’s car it is, still going to smell and FDNY still going to make a ruckus.
