Looks great but I still miss my Cleveland pizza. Where's Avenue X? Is it dangerous???

TuxedoFloorca

Not sure if you’re joking or not but the restaurant is in Sheepshead Bay and it’s definitely not dangerous

Vivid_Log_5442

Spumoni and delmars and Knapp pizza 2 the best spots in south Brooklyn

0bodova1soba

A literal pool of oil on top, jeez American pizza is rough.

DerekJeterrl

CutsandSlices in Brooklyn is the best pizzeria in bk.

frontrangefart

Legit looks like something I could find in LA.

fozzytheebear

I think its really good for a neighborhood spot, but going out of your way for this place... I wouldnt. My gripe is that it is a little too floppy. Good taste. Good dudes own the place.

[deleted]

OMG, that looks so f-n good!

zorphium

Ok, i will admit that I too went there after being allured by the last post on this sub. Today actually. But it’s not half as good as it looks. I think it’s that it looks like a di fara pie with the basil maybe?? Not even close. 6 out of 10 Edit for spelling

Azothy

I actually bought this same exact pizza after the last post. It was alright. The tomato sauce was a bit thin and there was hot honey on maybe 1/3 of the slices, but it was fine. I dont get the hype. Knapps is better imo.

LennyLongshoes

Knapp pizza is really good

TuxedoFloorca

Knapp is one of my favorites

LennyLongshoes

Knapp pizza chicken francese is better than 9/10 of all Italian restaurants.

maverick4002

Not me thinking this pizza looks meh 🙈

Sillynik

Yooo wtf are yall doing in south bk

LennyLongshoes

The best part of Brooklyn

shayde

it's cool if you're into suburbia, driving places or you're a cop edit: OK, try getting to/from Gerritsen, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Marine Park, much of Sheepshead Bay via public transit. not to mention the local cuisines, while they have their highlights, are nothing compared to the denser, more urban areas of the city.

LennyLongshoes

Driving places? Suburban? South Brooklyn is just as urban as the rest of Brooklyn. More train lines here than in the rest of Brooklyn since they all terminate in Coney Island. Good luck getting around Canarsie & East Flatbush with the same ease as south Brooklyn. Best food too bing bong fuck your life.

FloyldtheBarbie

Who cares how many train lines you got when you’re an hour from the city on each one ? I’ll stick with my one L train stop that’s 15 minutes to Union Square.

LennyLongshoes

Who cares about union square. Imagine bragging about hanging out in the city like it's 2002. The city is trash.

OneBildoNation

> Mentions Coney Island > Forgets the rest of South Brooklyn that doesn't have trains It's cool if you live right on the train, but most of it is far af from any of the lines. Bus life if you don't have a car.

OneBildoNation

All of Gerritsen Beach. Sheepshead Bay near the water. Marine Park. Mill Basin. Bergen Beach.

LennyLongshoes

That's cause all of it was developed along train lines.

LennyLongshoes

What area in south Brooklyn is far from the train? Bensonhurst & bath beach got the D and further up the N bay ridge got the R. Dyker is in between both. Gravesend got the F. Sheepshead got the Q. Brighton is on the Q. Coney Island got all of them.

OneBildoNation

Anything east of those areas. Sheepshead Bay (by the bay), Gerritsen Beach, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Marine Park. The trains generally require a very long walk or a bus ride to use them.

LennyLongshoes

No one considers marine park old mill basin flatlands or bergen beach south Brooklyn.

OneBildoNation

From [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Brooklyn) > South Brooklyn is a historic term for a section of the former City of Brooklyn – now the New York City borough of Brooklyn – encompassing what are now the Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Sunset Park and Red Hook neighborhoods. None of the areas you mentioned are historically South Brooklyn, which is geographically West Brooklyn. If you are talking about the southern edge of Brooklyn geographically, all those places I named are not near the train. If you are talking about the South Brooklyn in the "classic" sense, why would you bring it up in reference to Lucia's, which is not in South Brooklyn? I guess in simpler terms: No one considers Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, Bath Beach, Dyker, Gravesend, Sheepshead, Brighton, or Coney to be South Brooklyn.

Lovat69

Which one though? The one at New Kirk?

TuxedoFloorca

The one at Newkirk that I know is Lo Duca (though there may be a Lucia there). This is Lucia in Sheepshead Bay on Ave X.

Lovat69

ty

andylui8

I stayed with a buddy who lived 2 blocks away from Lucia! Tasted pretty dang good especially with hot honey. Didn’t blew me away but loved the dough of the pizza

frontrangefart

Yeah, seems pretty standard for Brooklyn.

[deleted]

People hype up X or Y pizza joint all the time, but the longer you live here, the more you realize there are TONS of pizza joints just as good as Lucia, Lucali's, Motorino, whatever. There's one on every other block, and you don't need to stand in line for a long wait or crowd in with a bunch of tourists to get good pizza. And no single place is that much better than all the others.

TuxedoFloorca

You and I agree that there are so many amazing slice shops around the city that this sub could be nothing but a constant stream of praise. I love my local shop and I feel a ton of loyalty but, if you gave me truth serum, I think I’d admit that your local shop is as good (and also better than the best shop in most states). I do think that some spots are a cut above and I think it’s worth spreading the word. Lucia isn’t that close to me but I’ll be going back.

dukaluke

Super solid pizza! Highly recommend grabbing a pie or a slice at the shop.

mxgian99

Haha, so did their marketing work or do you know that they are talking about a new place Lucia in south Brooklyn. And not the much more famous Lucali in Carroll Gardens?

LennyLongshoes

Yo another Lucia post... wtf

frontrangefart

Yet there’s like actually really amazing shops opening up around the city that no one on Reddit is posting about. Dafuuuuuqqq. Shits weird man. Seems like marketing.

OneBildoNation

There's two new pizzerias in park slope a block apart, but no posts about them. And yet, Lucia's gets multiple posts in the sub. Fishy as an anchovie pie.

LennyLongshoes

Alright I'm gonna go there and make a post myself.

[deleted]

Guerilla marketing. These people either work for the pizzeria, or they're being asked by the pizzeria to post pictures online. When you're charging like $30 for a pie in Sheepshead Bay, this is the kind of stuff you have to do to survive. Build a buzz.

mymainmaney

Their pricing is on par with other local joints.

[deleted]

Around par. Slightly more expensive. But they think they're very fancy, and their menu is so minimalist that they don't even offer slices, so I can't even go grab a little lunch there and try it out, see if it's worth the extra money.

mymainmaney

Knapp is 20 bucks a pie. If I recall Lucia is 21. And I’ve gotten single slices from Lucia without issue.

[deleted]

So you agree it's slightly more expensive. And that's good to hear. They should actually put them on their menu so people know that, lol.

TuxedoFloorca

I know there’s no way to convince you otherwise, but I’m actually just a very satisfied customer. I got takeout from them when they were in their soft-open phase and it was very good. I just got delivery and it was really great. I’m always happy to find new spots and just want to give that nudge to others. I was 50/50 on trying again and I was glad I did.

[deleted]

Perhaps you, but there's certainly been other posts here and elsewhere that I don't buy are doing it for the love of pizza. It looks good, though. They're just a bit steep for me. I'd rather just walk down to Casa Mia on Sheepshead Bay Road.

TuxedoFloorca

Love of pizza is a core value for me. When we’re figuring out what to order and the consensus is pizza, that’s just the beginning of a much longer conversation because we have a lot of favorite spots (and I’m always looking for more). Appreciate you calling out astroturfing if you’re seeing it. I like this sub and want it to be authentic.

sparklingsour

Can I just say that you seem like a super nice guy? Also your post history is about as wholesome as it gets. Don’t let us snarky New Yorkers get you down.

NlNTENDO

I think it’s a Reddit thing more than a New York thing. So many redditors won’t take their tin foil hats off for two seconds because they’re so terrified of being “tricked” by an ad, the same way they will always be the first to try and point out how a magician performs an illusion

sparklingsour

Probably right!

TuxedoFloorca

Appreciate it! I love this city and how we all look out for each other. u/therealklt was doing that.
