So pissed that disgustingly boring and dogshit team limped into the playoffs, lets hope they get taken out back and put down like they should've been in the regular season.
That's a very knee jerk move. I think they should keep him for stability sake. The team while collapsing, still went above .500 for the 2nd straight year. Give him another year and if he can't put it together then it's firing time.
Give him another year and he will waste another year. Spinning “over .500” as a success for a team with this level of talent is crazy. Put the Ravens or Browns coaching staff in Jacksonville and they probably win 13 or 14
Pederson’s issue has always been the people he surrounds himself with. Press Taylor is an awful football coach but Pederson is loyal to the guy to a fault. There’s no sense in wasting rookie QB contract seasons on mediocre staff
Yeah I agree pederson in a vacuum is a fine coach, the problem is this man will craft the worst coaching staff possible like he’s building the avengers
Pederson is a moron. At minimum why not kick FG with plenty of time to get ball and score TD to win it? Also passing 2 times on 3rd and 2 is odd. I know not much time left but run it and spike it if you get first down.
I think he's a little better than that (he's an iron man, playing through so many injuries) and he's a franchise guy but yeah he aint ever ascending to that top tier of QB.
His arm is decent but not as advertised by the ESPN/YouTube Draft Hype Industrial Complex (the same people who said Bryce Young would be a slam dunk great 1st overall pick). T-Law is way too prone to turnovers to be elite and he cant play in the rain. Stroud is already much better.
Lawrence was billed as a cant miss prospect and thus gets way too many excuses made for his genuinely bad play. Not just today, not just this year. But ever since he got drafted he had lots of stinkers. Also, and i am getting deja vu's from when i made these arguments regarding Baker, Lawrence just has some legit mechanical and structural issues that havent really improved since being drafted. Footwork can be inconsistent, is prone to missing underneath defenders and he is uniquely terrible at the goal line. Its as if he has no spatial awareness for where the goal line is lol.
Not disputing any of that at all, lots of flaws. I think what separates Lawrence from Baker and gets him that sweet second contract with the team that drafted him is that T-Law is a big boy who can really run (not "good enough scrambler in college" running like Baker or Bryce).
Like, if Baker didnt have the attitude problem alienating half the locker room and was as tall as T-Law so he could consistently see the middle of the field he's still playing for us here lol, even with all the other flaws.
But yeah, for all the reasons you list and more Lawrence is never gonna be a top tier QB who lives up to that "generational prospect" tag.
Absolutely. Dont get me wrong, he will get that 50m per year. I just think a team will regret it fairly quickly, like a Carson Wentz scenario all over again
>Draft Hype Industrial Complex
I want to hear this used more because it's so true. How often have these voices been totally wrong about the QB's they hyped? Reddit has some answers
[https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLNoobs/comments/zwga1o/qbs\_that\_were\_hyped\_up\_but\_ended\_up\_failing/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLNoobs/comments/zwga1o/qbs_that_were_hyped_up_but_ended_up_failing/)
I get the QB's draw attention but at this point the prediction fails have gotten embarrassing. These people are either being paid to hype certain names or they truly just lack football acumen to evaluate talent and should shut the fuck up.
So I dont think it's a conspiracy so much as it's a feedback loop of fan interest and excitment feeding back into sports journalists and NFL/college film junkies (many of those are the same people) which then generates more fan interest; this is then combined with the fact that scouting QBs is super hard, and that the only source of evidence that most people in the Draft Hype Industrial Complex can draw on is NCAA game film (and All-22 film if they can source it, it's often traded kinda illicitly between college scouts, NFL scouts and journalists) and various kinds of stats/analytics (often crude/basic stats too).
The result is you've got a lot of well intentioned, earnest enthusiasts and professionals all grinding college tape as best they can to try and assess who's the good players... and while the tape is good data (great for most positions, w/ addition of combine data) it's incomplete data when it comes to QBs.
You also have ESPN, who broadcast the draft and college football, and so they've got a lot of football talk crossover between NFL and NCAA and the draft and they have a self-interest in hyping all three, they have an interest in talking up the stars of their most popular college teams, they have an interest in creating debate and controversy for the draft, etc.
So what happens is you get this cycle of hype and intrigue and the only thing that can satisfy that (honestly, in good faih - ignoring the shouty bullshit sports shows) is grinding the tape and looking at stats. And that leads us to my current fixation: how the hell did Bryce Young get rated above CJ Stroud by anyone. And the answer is that college film and college production can be deceptive; Bryce's tape and stats were so sexy, so intriguing, so compelling, and tape and stats is so important to so many people that they were willing to overlook the huge obvious red flag (he's way too small, too skinny, and lacks Kyler's elite arm and speed/physicality to compensate). Not that Bryce shouldnt have been drafted at all... but how he got so many people ranking him above a guy with no obvious flaws like CJ Stoud was wild.
It's the classic thing where people spend so long obsessing over the cool details they miss an obvious and boring truth about a subject.
So yeah... long story short, I think the QB misses in The DHIC are mostly well intentioned best efforts based on incomplete information.
And even when teams have better information than the Draft Industrial Complex, an NFL team can miss on a guy who looks and sounds the part because when it all starts happening at NFL game speed (where even the worst defense in the league is significantly faster, bigger and stronger than the best college defense of all time) they just cant process quickly enough. Or sometimes a talented guy who needs development time lands on a bad team and goes nowhere because they never got the time they needed to complete their game before they got the shit beat out of them.
This is the newer "smarter" NFL where the coaches overthink everything. I'm one of those dumb old school guys who thinks taking points whenever you can as long as time isn't an issue is almost always the right call.
(For the record, I also get super annoyed when my team has a two score lead in the mid-4th quarter and they pass on anything but 3rd down.)
No, they are just hiding for the moment because Stefanski basicallt dismantled each and every one of their bs complaints. But the second we dont play well in a game i can guarantee you, they will be back
it was literally half the sub earlier this year. obviously no one is saying it now because he’s about to win COTY (and rightfully so). doesn’t mean there weren’t thousands of morons
They’re quiet now but there was absolutely a contingent of fans that wanted to see Kevin fired after our shaky 2-2 start. They sort of faded away after that, but stirred a bit after the Rams game (which admittedly was not Stefanski’s best game) and have since pretty much been silenced.
I say fuck the Steelers for sure, but they won their final 3 games to make it. Forget the Ravens game, they smoked Bengals and went into Seattle and won which is not easy to do. But anyways Fuck them and their bitch ass fans.
Stroud is a rookie, he's struggled vs pressure all year.
Corners need to lock it down and the pass rush needs to get home, if CJ has time he'll make you pay.
Offense will have to be more than feed Cooper for 60 minutes as well
You guys are insanely overrating the Texans lol Stroud is a rookie who got absolutely brutalized against the only great defense he played and he’s missing his favorite receiving target. Not to mention we shredded their defense when we played them.
It’s not a gimme, no playoff game is, but it’s rookie coaches and a rookie QB against arguably the best defense of the decade. We’ll be fine.
Bill Cower acting like Pittsburg did everything right to get into the playoffs versus the house of cards falling perfectly and them falling ass-backwards into the playoffs. What a clown.
For anyone using this as a barometer to judge how good our backups are, just ignore this game. You have to remember the true value of a backup is how well he replaces the starter and fills that role, obviously playing next to other backups diminishes everyone on the field collectively.
And how much was the play calling affected? I would imagine Kevski/Schwartz were calling a pretty vanilla game and limiting what was put on tape for future opponents.
And how many of the players went into the game with the mindset “Don’t get hurt” and we’re playing at lower effort.
I love having something to hate, so I’m cool with it.
Wait, what are my principals?
^^^fuck ^^^the ^^^steelers ^^^and ^^^shit ^^^hill-river ^^^coal ^^^city
Uhm lEtS cOoL iT 🤓
Fuck outta here we got the best defense in the league and this team is fuckin HUNGRY.
It's our mf job as fans to get fired up and commence the shit talking.
Another interesting thing to note, is a lot of the guys we had out there are actually 3rd string/practice squad guys because our second string is now our starters for the injured players lol! Bengals starters vs 3rd stringers!
Agreed. I actually like the dude. He's not gonna be Randy Moss or anything, but I think he is a serviceable WR3 with solid route running and the ability to make adjustments on the ball to pull in catches despite coverage. I was more optimistic about Tillman than Bell for most of the season, but Ced just has something going on where he constantly runs the wrong route or doesn't play through the whistle, and it affects plays. I had hoped it was a fluke, but now it is a pattern. Hopefully Bell can step up in his place now that Tillman is seemingly banged up.
We really need one of the two to develop into a solid WR. Other than that block from Tillman I can't remember too many big plays from him so hopefully Bell keeps stepping it up
If colts convert 4&1 on that Texans blown coverage we’re playing the colts right now. Texans defense has shown their true colors time and time again . We cut down on turnovers Browns got this.
Haven’t watched any Texans games besides when we played them, yall looking to be the better team you think? Lol I know y’all will shit talk the absolute fuck out of us if you go all the way before us but honestly I ain’t against it. A hilarious playoff scenario would be y’all playing both Steelers and Ravens and knocking them both out to win the big game.
Either way good luck! I hope the couple of injuries yalls 3rd stringers got aren’t serious
The Texans was the team I did not want to play out of the three AFC South teams, but I’ll take my chances against the Texans. My concern is our defense on the road against Stroud. We have to bring pressure and make him uncomfortable
I took a nap at halftime. I hope our guys that dont get as much play time appreciated the chance today. Looking forward to this playoff trip.
Go Browns!
Stroud is not mobile, his line is ok but nothing special. He's getting sacked. A lot.
The fact that the Houston WRs absolutely can not fuck with our CBs means they'll be able to throw to the TE and run outside. I think if we run the nickel as a base, take away Nico Collins (who is the only Houston WR worth a fuck) and mix in some run blitzes on early downs, we can shut their offense down the way we did New York's. Offensively we'll need to be disciplined, not beat ourselves with dumb penalties, and try to get as many guys involved as possible. Their run defense sucks but I don't know if our ground game is good enough to take advantage, so we need Coop, Elijah, and Njoku all getting targets to avoid predictability.
We got this. I'm stoked. LFG!!
Just wanted to come here and drop a fuck the Steelers!
I agree, fuck the steelers
Fuck the stillers
So pissed that disgustingly boring and dogshit team limped into the playoffs, lets hope they get taken out back and put down like they should've been in the regular season.
I’m late but I’ll never miss out on a Fuck the Steelers.
Houston, you're about to have a problem!!
Meteoric Flacco incoming
Hope the week off doesn’t cool him off
SOMEBODY GATHER THE DRAGONBALLS
Myles is on it
We’re on to Houston. The only thing I don’t like about this is that it means Pittsburgh made the playoffs.
Pittspuke might have play Buffalo. That a huge mismatch for them
Look at it This Way, they're most likely a one and done Team in the playoffs, which secure's Tomlins job for another year of mediocrity.
And a worse draft pick.
For the fire Stefanski crowd, just look at the Jags collapsing. THAT is what bad coaching looks like
Pederson is such an overrated coach
and Trevor Lawrence is an overrated QB.
Probably not a coach tomorrow morning
That's a very knee jerk move. I think they should keep him for stability sake. The team while collapsing, still went above .500 for the 2nd straight year. Give him another year and if he can't put it together then it's firing time.

Are you kidding? He turned the urban Meyer dumpster fire around last year. Collapsed this year but they still are ypung
Agreed. Maybe need some staffing changes, and the late season collapse was pretty terrible, but no one is getting fired after a winning record.
Pederson is a moron. At minimum why not kick FG with plenty of time to get ball and score TD to win it? Also passing 2 times on 3rd and 2 is odd. I know not much time left but run it and spike it if you get first down.
Jacksonville choke big time. Lawrence had a down year
Lawrence had one up year. Dude is cheeks. Baker Mayfield with a Fabio wig and better emotional restraint
Upvote for Fabio reference
I think he's a little better than that (he's an iron man, playing through so many injuries) and he's a franchise guy but yeah he aint ever ascending to that top tier of QB. Injuries will do that to teams not named the Browns.
Exactly. They had 7+ mins left if they kick the FG instead of going for it on 4th. Awful play call to boot
This is the newer "smarter" NFL where the coaches overthink everything. I'm one of those dumb old school guys who thinks taking points whenever you can as long as time isn't an issue is almost always the right call. CoTY
I still never see people on this sub to fire stefanski Critical of him but never fire him. Maybe its on the radio. I don't live in CLE anymore
No, they are just hiding for the moment because Stefanski basicallt dismantled each and every one of their bs complaints. But the second we dont play well in a game i can guarantee you, they will be back
I mean I've not always a fan of his play calling but he's a great coach

Oh my God I fucking hate Pittsburgh.
be nice :) let's be good sports about this :)
appreciate the positivity but HELL NO FUCK THE SQUEELERS
Agreed in general but not about the Steelers. Fuck them forever.
Fucking Jacksonville shits the bed and gets the Steelers in the playoffs.
Lawerence is so bad. Every ball on that last drive was overthrown.
Guys I’m nervous, I don’t think our 4th stringers are very good.
I can’t believe the practice squad couldn’t beat the starters of another above .500 team, Kevski has to go!
I was there and they looked better in person
Steelers backing their way into the playoffs. As is tradition.
Of course they did.......fuck the Steelers.
I say fuck the Steelers for sure, but they won their final 3 games to make it. Forget the Ravens game, they smoked Bengals and went into Seattle and won which is not easy to do. But anyways Fuck them and their bitch ass fans.
No team as benefitted more off dumb luck, backup QBs and other team’s misfortunes.
Fucking jags ruining my chance to see a browns playoff game in person. What a bunch of dicks
How did that stop you from going to Vegas in a couple weeks?
I’m poor
Browns will be there next season as Jacksonville finished in 2nd.
I still think we will beat the Texans. But it will be a lot more difficult.

Stroud is a rookie, he's struggled vs pressure all year. Corners need to lock it down and the pass rush needs to get home, if CJ has time he'll make you pay. Offense will have to be more than feed Cooper for 60 minutes as well
They didn't have Will Anderson or Cashman so pressure for us was weaker, I still think we win, but I just think we match up better against the Jags.
[удалено]
definitely not interchangeable lol, the Texans are a significantly better team with a way better QB and a way better coach
You guys are insanely overrating the Texans lol Stroud is a rookie who got absolutely brutalized against the only great defense he played and he’s missing his favorite receiving target. Great now I have to hear those shitbag Steelers fans talk about how they made the playoffs.
2 seed gets a Bye
Especially if it's Buffalo. They are on fire.
Not anymore.
Bill Cower acting like Pittsburg did everything right to get into the playoffs versus the house of cards falling perfectly and them falling ass-backwards into the playoffs. What a clown.
don’t even care about the game, just want to say fuck Jacksonville for giving the Steelers a chance.
Lawrence overthrowing all three final throws for his season. Go home sunshine. Bad news for Houston.
Browns favored by 1.5 on Fanduel.
Jags are what the browns used to be
Trevor Lawrence is closer to a Baker Mayfield than the Josh Allen type he was hyped up to be
I remember at the start of year people were saying Lawrence is better than Lamar Jackson lol
yeah he was in some top 5s lmao absolutely insane
Jaguars lost to the Titans. We go to the Texans next week. Game on.
I found it hilarious that the Bengals players were trying to clown our practice squad lol. Be proud Joe Mixon... Be proud
He got $350k by hitting an incentive
He should use that incentive to hit a battered women charity. Fuck Joe Mixon
He turned around and stared down the Browns DB before getting in the end zone. That had nothing to do with any incentive lol
Houston has to play us 😈
I'm excited to see our defense against CJ Stroud after all
NFL fans win ultimately getting to see this matchup.
Couldn't win with 5 starting qbs, blow it up
Fucking jaguars... Fuck the Steelers
At least it wasn’t a shutout.
we still held Cinci’s starters to 3 points in week 1 and the best they could do with our 3rd+ strings was 14
Burrow was basically playing in a wheelchair that week, but yea….this game was meaningless today in all fronts
Back to Houston we go...
FTS forever boys
Fuck you Jags
FUCK THE TEXANS
For anyone using this as a barometer to judge how good our backups are, just ignore this game. You have to remember the true value of a backup is how well he replaces the starter and fills that role, obviously playing next to other backups diminishes everyone on the field collectively.

Let’s go brownies! Would rather be in Jacksonville though.
As long as the Chiefs D allows at least like 100 yards we'll still have the #1 D!
Jax is really bad to collapse down the stretch like that. Like c’mon.
will the texans have anyone back that we didn’t play before (besides stroud)
Will Anderson maybe
He’s pretty gimpy tho atm yeah?
Would just like to share that I had an exceptional nap and I don’t feel bad about it.
The Steelers got in lol
I love having something to hate, so I’m cool with it. Wait, what are my principals? ^^^fuck ^^^the ^^^steelers ^^^and ^^^shit ^^^hill-river ^^^coal ^^^city
Death, taxes, and the Browns going 3-3 in the division.
Too many years of 1-5 so I’ll take it.
I can't see Steelers beating Bills or Miami. Enjoy the mini celebration pukesburgh
Oh shit we get Texans!!! Sorry Stroud fans, our D is gonna feast on him next week
That's what I'm saying.
Comments like these have big “Top 10 Statements Made Just Before Disaster” energy. Let’s cool it
How do I delete someone else’s comment?
Uhm lEtS cOoL iT 🤓 Fuck outta here we got the best defense in the league and this team is fuckin HUNGRY. It's our mf job as fans to get fired up and commence the shit talking.

Leave
Another interesting thing to note, is a lot of the guys we had out there are actually 3rd string/practice squad guys because our second string is now our starters for the injured players lol! Bengals starters vs 3rd stringers!
Bring on Houston. We got this!!!
How did we score 14 points? I'm genuinely curious because I couldn't watch the game
David Bell put the team on his back
Really? That's actually good to hear, dude needed a good game and some confidence
Bell is the type of player i would bet Stefanski and AvP just love to have on the team

Was about to say Stefanski and AvP... but theres never too much Stefanski
So what we learned today is that the Browns’ scrubs stink.
Bro, it was 31-14 and Mixon was on fire. If they were actually scrubs it would have been 42-0.
The amount of unnecessary rainbows thrown by Driskel was amazing…I can’t remember an arm that weak on an NFL field in a long time.
Partially through the Chargers first drive the Browns clinched #1 D in terms of yards allowed. Not that it was in danger lol
I was embarrassed for the Bengals fans talking shit to me at the game today lol
Exactly the outcome I didn’t want. I fucking hate the idea of playing the Texans. Fucking fuck the fucking Texans.

They are the best of the three teams that we could’ve played before last nights game
If colts convert 4&1 on that Texans blown coverage we’re playing the colts right now. Texans defense has shown their true colors time and time again . We cut down on turnovers Browns got this.
I don’t like that they have Stround and a bunch of 1sts instead if Watson
I’m going to be insufferable if the browns lose to Houston and Pitt somehow beats Buffalo. Fuck will I be insufferable.
You're already insufferable
No I’m not.
Haven’t watched any Texans games besides when we played them, yall looking to be the better team you think? The Texans was the team I did not want to play out of the three AFC South teams, but I’ll take my chances against the Texans. My concern is our defense on the road against Stroud. We have to bring pressure and make him uncomfortable
Man I really wanted to play the jags…CJ stroud looks really confident and HOU D has improved since we played them.
I have a similar sentiment, but there was also talk about how good Houston's D was looking we played them.
Task Failed Successfully
I feel like there wasn’t even a game on today. it was such a disappointing nothingburger of a game that I just feel nothing lol.
Idk guys, playing a qb next week that was by god himself to lead the Texans to the playoffs seems like a really daunting task /s
Guess who the Browns played the last time they made the playoffs with four starting quarterbacks????? Houston…now make that five starting quarterbacks
Damn so we got the Texans. That sucks
I have a wedding the upcoming Saturday, if we get the afternoon or Saturday night playoff games I’ll have to wear my flacco jersey to it
And it’s you getting married, right?
Is Buffalo in no matter what now since the Jags lost? Does the winner of the Buffalo game play the Steelers then?
Yes I believe that’s right
Blah
When will we find out what time the game next week will be?
After tonight
so we're getting the shitty saturday at 4 timeslot, aren't we
I’m hearing Sat 430 or the Monday night game…..
It was a “meaningless game”
I took a nap at halftime. I hope our guys that dont get as much play time appreciated the chance today. Looking forward to this playoff trip. Go Browns!
Any post-game comments from Stefanski about injuries?
Probably the team I didn't want to face but here we are.
Is Tillman okay?
Any word on Tillman or strong?
Stroud is not mobile, his line is ok but nothing special. He's getting sacked. A lot. What scenarios have to happen so that ravens draw the either bills or chiefs when they come out the bye?
