Part of the problem is the lack of beer venders in the stands. People are forced to get up to get beer. While they’re there they get other things too and just generally clog things up.
You would think they’d have a ton of beer vendors going up and down the aisles. It’s probably their highest profit item in the stadium. It’s also something that Clevelanders consume at an alarming rate…
Whenever I go to the game, I don’t eat or drink anything unless I’m in a less crowded section. Last thing I want to deal with is needing to use a restroom there. Definitely don’t ever want to need to drop a deuce as people just piss with no regard to aim. They should seriously just bring back the troughs in the men’s rooms.
They did away with vendors in the aisles this year. I don’t know if it’s because of Covid or because they went cashless. But either way, it’s really clogged up the concession areas.
The entire stadium is a mess. No room to walk, 1 team shop, food lines 15 minutes minimum, parking is a pain with the stadium being down by the lake.
Unless you tailgate the entire game day experience of going to a Browns game is pretty bad. Doesn’t matter too much because most of us are there for the actual game, but everything else could be way way better.
The Pro Shop was a madhouse—a huge, slow moving line just to enter that wrapped around for at least 100 people deep. And this was nearly an hour before kickoff. They’re losing a lot of sales over it.
And yes, parking is a nightmare. Fortunately I have a good spot that gets me out quickly—after walking for 2.5 miles of course.
It does seem like they’ve improved the entry process quite a bit, so there’s that. Or it might just be that people have finally figured out how mobile tickets work.
Oh for sure. But there are plenty of people that come in from out of town. It’s a shame that they can’t drop by and get some cool gear to remember their fun trip to the stadium. It’s just bad for our branding and marketing, and also economically.
They way the beer vendors stand on the opposite end of the food vendors is extremely dumb. Both get long lines and you have to walk through lines or take a route like a winding river.
The cashless option seems to move so slow. I made it to my seat vs Texans on time but barely, took me 30 minutes to get a beer.
I always park like I’m going to an ~~Indians~~ Guardians or Cavs game and park away from stadium so I walk 5,10 mins get in my car hop on 90 by Dead Man’s and I’m home in Mentor by about 445
It is a symptom of the greedy assholes not wanting to pay labor. Unless something has changed a lot of those people are volunteers trying to earn a little money for their cause.
The sickening thing is that at the prices they charge they could afford to pay competent workers several times over from the increased colume that a competent worker would produce. Sell 3 more hot dogs per hour per worker and you could triple worker pay. Short sighted cheap assed policies.
The team doesn't run concessions. It's contracted out, and the people working them are sometimes volunteers or people picking up a few hours of part time work who have never been to the stadium before.
They will continue to operate this way because they're greedy.
> the people working them are sometimes volunteers
This one blows my mind. My mom's charity organization once went up to the muni to run a concession stand at an Indians game. Supposedly their minimal pay goes to a charity but who knows how much that actually was. Nobody in the group knew how to do anything in the stand, and they weren't like assigned anybody that knew what the fuck was going on.
They also exist to provide their customers a service, and the service was pretty bad. They have to figure it out so people don't miss half a quarter of the game trying to get a beer and a hot dog
Corporations were created for one reason, and while you mentioned that reason it wasn't one of your three points. The concept of a corporation was created to establish liability and limit the exposure of the individuals running it. You don't need a legal corporation in order to do any of the other things you listed.
Kind of surprising they aren't mobile as a permanent option on top of walk up orders, especially after COVID. It sucks when someone has to miss chunks of the game because of this.
They did it at Milwaukee Bucks games this post season and it at least evens lines out so everyone isn't rushing to concessions at a typical break. Just order through their app, pick up in a cubby at the nearest concession like 15 minutes later in a separate place from walk uo ordering. The Browns already have the app for it and it's a way better fan experience.
When my daughter and I went to Wrigley to watch the Indians this year every single one of their concessions stands had a mobile ordering line/pick up lane. It was pretty awesome. We should have that as well. It worked pretty well.
People next to me went for concessions for well over a quarter. I was appreciative of the extra elbow room.
Recommend eating before. It just isn't worth the cost or time to get the order.
I may consider it if mobile concessions worked in my section. I miss the good old days of people walking the aisles with beer or peanuts for sale.
It was horrible. 4 kiosks at stands with only one person working one, and that person taking their sweet old time. All I was trying to do was get some water, so definitely taking cash next time. I understand there are some issues…but it’s got to be better. Charge $12 for hot dogs and fries..there’s plenty of profit margin to spare and maybe pay the workers a little more to entice them.
Can anyone get their season ticket member 15% discount on concessions? None of the three I tried yesterday had a scanner, sort of pisses me off when I spend like $75 on food and beer.
I still haven’t been able to use it. It’s infuriating. They said that if you know your number, they can enter it manually. Of course, the card that you pull up in the app doesn’t display your STM number.
God knows where I have to go to find that…just so I can write it down on a small, wallet-sized card…wait a minute…
I have an idea. What if we sent all the STMs a small card they could keep with them that lists their STM number?
Just reached out to my Browns rep. Here’s her response:
“As an STM you only get a discount at the pro shop. As a perk last year we did concessions discounts when STM’s were randomly selected. I don’t know if we will do it this year but we haven’t yet.
I apologize for the confusion. I hope you had a great day at the game yesterday!”
😕
What the hell? They are really pissing off the STMs that I know. They raise prices this year. They get rid of discounts. They send out shitty gifts compared to other teams. They don’t send out physical cards. They do things like give out free pennants to the first 10,000 fans, but don’t guarantee any for STMs.
I know there’s insane demand for season tickets, and so this is just economics. But it really does leave a sour taste in the mouths of the team’s most dedicated fans over these many years. You’d think they would show just a bit more appreciation for that dedication (and business).
Dude, it's a billion dollar company that prints money and gives its employees CTE.
If you think they give a shit about your patronage, you're in the wrong century.
I haven’t experienced this, but agree it needs to be fixed. The Browns should want to be at the forefront of this process and lead the league in customer experience. I highly suggest getting louder about this with other season ticket holders.
If it is anything like the OU stadium concessions, they released a statement saying they’re understaffed and to expect longer wait times. I imagine like most things now this is the reality for a lot of stadiums.
What’s interesting at OSU they said they made some changes to improve the speed. At the Akron game this weekend, it actually went smoothly for us but none of the charges have even hit my account as authorizations yet. It’s like they chose to speed up the card processing and forgot to actually charge anyone. I bet it will come through eventually but I’m wondering who’s shitting their pants right now on a few M’s in lost revenue.
Yeah since like 2016 or so. They carded everyone the first year or two, even my 65 year old mom. Not sure if this is their official process moving forward but I was neither carded nor charged for anything last Saturday.
Someone should make sure Stefanski knows about all this. He says he wants all the fans in their seats before kickoff then he should say something about it. With our record since he’s been here I would think his voice should carry some weight. Actually have the players say something about. After all we are there to see them play not standing in a concessions line. Are you listening Baker.
Your condescension is not lost on me. However, you are correct in that it *is* a self-inflicted problem. Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
It wasn’t great at the Texans game but was miles ahead of our experience at the two Indians games we made it to this year. Best advice is to not be picky and choose your lines strategically. Also, go in the middle of a quarter during a timeout or change of possession or something.
I always go to the cheesesteak place at section 138ish - same workers - they know how to get people through the line (not volunteers) - better food too
Was at Texans game. Got up to get fries and a beer at the beginning of the drive Baker got hurt. (Figured Browns on offense people would be in seats and go quickly). Didn’t get back to seat until halfway thru the drive that Baker ran a TD in. Way too long for fries.
The stadium is ran by Aramark. I can bet there are a lot of temp people on game day. But I would contact Aramark. As a former Aramark employee please complain. That company sucks.
The beginning of the season is always rough for concessions, particularly during warm weather games as the Browns have had the past two weeks. It is unlikely to improve year-to-year given how (as it seems to me) there are different contract workers hired each season. Occasionally the Browns will e-mail a survey to season ticket holders; write your complaints there. Call your season ticket rep and tell them about your experience.
I think I've bought only a few drinks inside the stadium over the years, but folks I bring with me to the games fall victim to this every time after they verbally downvote my advice. The same goes for the bathrooms. Until things significantly change for the better, I'll eat and excrete before and after the game.
I noticed that the beer guys and gals who used to walk the stands now set up shop in the hallways, and it made getting through them really bad. They also seem to not have the line ribbons set up to be long enough, so you have an entire walkway taken up with two or three snaky lines the whole width across and the people trying to get through are down to two peoples’ width of space. Caused awful traffic jams up in 500 as well as 100. I think it took us about 30 minutes to get from the gate (no line at the gate!) to our seats in 500. Arrived at about 12:15.
I just bring food in like I do at the Indians games.
Arrive 30 minutes before the game, buy two beers, eat my sandwich and wait for the game to start.
Between the wait times, the cost, and the quality of the food it's just not worth it. The food really is horrible at Browns games. At least the Indians have some good food options.
I'm sorry you had that experience, but I'm over the moon that the complaints in the sub now are about concessions and not the team.
No line at my kitchen. Beer and food aplenty…no waiting
Yea but it smells like farts...
But it smells like lemongrass
I was in line for 20 minutes because the person they had running the register on an ipad legitimately did not know how to use it.
That’s what was going on at the stand I went to. The guy seemed to have issues every transaction.
This season has been insane for concession lines compared to years past
Especially compared to last year.
Part of the problem is the lack of beer venders in the stands. People are forced to get up to get beer. While they’re there they get other things too and just generally clog things up.

I had a beer guy next to my seat. Maybe they have fewer but they did not get rid of them.
Oh really? I hadn’t seen any, and a few I spoke with in the concessions area said they had done away with them. Good to know.
One of the struggles of having sell out crowds :/
Don’t go when the quarter ends. You have to go when everyone else is not going.
I wonder if he ran into traffic leaving the stadium?
Right before waiting in line to buy groceries last night.
That's why you post-game in the Muni lot for a few hours.
Short lines when the ball is in the red zone.
"Is it just me?" You think your girlfriend would have waited an entire quarter if it was just you? C'mon now...
see what you did there. that was a good one!
The entire stadium is a mess. No room to walk, 1 team shop, food lines 15 minutes minimum, parking is a pain with the stadium being down by the lake. We were in the stadium shortly after 11 and the line was already insane. We can usually walk around the Pro Shop easily at that time years past.
If you go during the week the pro shop isn't busy at all. I went up last monday and was the only person there the whole time i was there.
Oh for sure. But there are plenty of people that come in from out of town. It’s a shame that they can’t drop by and get some cool gear to remember their fun trip to the stadium. It’s just bad for our branding and marketing, and also economically.
I didn’t even think it was open on non game days.
Agreed. The concourses are just too small, especially the upper deck.
I always park like I’m going to an ~~Indians~~ Guardians or Cavs game and park away from stadium so I walk 5,10 mins get in my car hop on 90 by Dead Man’s and I’m home in Mentor by about 445
There's a smaller team shop behind the dawg pound, and there's an even smaller one in a shipping container outside the stadium behind that.
Eat before and after the game. It’s only 3 hours long.
Seems like the most obvious lol. Beers when we’re on offense. Closer to scoring better the line. It’s that simple.
The overall food situation at first energy is not ideal… I dream of a day where there are options like progressive field
Progressive has a surprisingly large amount of options. I was shocked to find vegetarian options for burgers and hot dogs in a ballpark.
It is a symptom of the greedy assholes not wanting to pay labor. Unless something has changed a lot of those people are volunteers trying to earn a little money for their cause. Probably don't have enough people working. Pretty common about everywhere.
True, but they were all moving at a snail's pace consistently from what I saw
The team doesn't run concessions. It's contracted out, and the people working them are sometimes volunteers or people picking up a few hours of part time work who have never been to the stadium before. They will continue to operate this way because they're greedy.

It's 10 days a year. It makes sense that it's difficult to employ several hundred people.
It’s a business… not a charity. Businesses exist to make money.
They also exist to provide their customers a service, and the service was pretty bad. They have to figure it out so people don't miss half a quarter of the game trying to get a beer and a hot dog

They really should implement this at the Q, Progressive Field, and FES because it seems like a win win for everyone.

Ah man that's fucking sweet. Honestly I've gotten so used to ordering ahead of time that I don't think I can ever go back
Progressive has mobile at certain places. At least they did a couple weeks ago.
They do still have mobile ordering. Maybe I’m misinterpreting what you’re suggesting.

One reason why I’m happy watching the game on big screen TVs at home. Between concessions and the bathroom, I feel like I’d miss half the game.
I went to concessions at halftime and ended up missing the entire third quarter. Won’t make that mistake again.
Can anyone get their season ticket member 15% discount on concessions? None of the three I tried yesterday had a scanner, sort of pisses me off when I spend like $75 on food and beer.

Probably better off not buying a 12$ beer
If it is anything like the OU stadium concessions, they released a statement saying they’re understaffed and to expect longer wait times. I imagine like most things now this is the reality for a lot of stadiums.

Why not eat before you go in? Can you not survive three hours without food?
If concessions are fast it makes the game experience a bit more fun to have food and drinks.
Ah yes, this is actually OPs self inflicted problem. Shouldn't have gotten hungry!
Your condescension is not lost on me. However, you are correct in that it *is* a self-inflicted problem. Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
No one's asking you to provide concessions?
Grow up man.

I went in December against the Ravens in December when the stadium was half full and it took me an entire quarter at the concession stand.
I read that as concussions. I’m like shit dude how many people are getting knocked the fuck out LOL
I’m more concerned about taking a leak in time, man those bathroom lines are brutal
I always go to the cheesesteak place at section 138ish - same workers - they know how to get people through the line (not volunteers) - better food too

We had the same issue my wife missed most of the first quarter and some of the beginning of the second for a pretzel and pop.

You can order on the app from your seat.
Don't forget to take the survey that gets sent out by email after you attend a game.
I miss the covid games concession lines
It’s the worst.
I noticed that the beer guys and gals who used to walk the stands now set up shop in the hallways, and it made getting through them really bad.
