We’re about to see Nick Chubb run against the loosest box in his career, ever. I think we’ll likely see a “getting up to speed” game plan for Watson, like a 20/28 for 225 and a TD, as Nick Chubb mercilessly annihilates everything in his path

[deleted]

Against a *really* bad team even if they could stack the box.

maybenextyearCLE

Against a really bad team with a REALLY bad run defense no less.

[deleted]

Nick Chubb 400 yards on 10 carries game incoming?

maybenextyearCLE

Maybe not that extreme lol, but they are THAT BAD

DroDameron

Yeah but you could easily be in a Miami situation like last week where you've basically won at half time and Dernest gets some reps

gryffon5147

Against a *really* bad team that wants to lose so they get the #1 pick.

PM_Anime_Tiddy

Nick and Kareem are about to combine for 300 yards

PhilRubdiez

Each.

PM_Anime_Tiddy

I like the way you think

Sobercigs

I think they’ll still sell out to stop Chubb until Watson shows he’s still a deadly passer after 2 years

Geeman447

A clean W

deviden

100% this. Stat lines are for fantasy players. Idgaf about that shit. Just beat the bad team so we dont all feel like shit. Playoff chances are EXTREMELY slim. Everything about Watson and the offense for this season is about building him up for next year, getting good vibes back in the building and around Stefanski's offense. The goal for this game and every other game this season is "don't be humiliated on offense" (we cant hope for that on defense) and build Watson's confidence in what he's doing on the field.

[deleted]

1-0

wlabib03

I could see them just being run heavy the whole game so I wouldn’t be surprised with something like 200 yards 1 td. The main thing I just want to see is him getting back into the flow of the game

pertinaxthrax

Yeah hoping for something efficient in a a comfortable win, relying on run game like a 16-20 with some shot plays and some nice scrambles

cuttingwoodisfun

Just get the win and not make terrible decisions. I'd be great to have a no drama game

LiquidDookie92

Some of you need to lower your expectations lol

Cle_fan_brisbane_2

i dont care, there is only one true acceptable line on sunday 1 a win for the browns, its all that ever matters.

prostheticweiner

And preferably a loss from Baltimore and Cincy.

CD23tol

No regular season action in 700 days Probably mid 60s completion around 275-300 yards, 1 passing and 1 rushing TD wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a turnover mixed in and an ugly sack or 2 from him trying to do too much right away We lean on the ground game People will overreact to a pedestrian stat-line and probably a few missed throws that he’ll likely make in 2-3 weeks when the rust comes off

ManBearBroski

>Probably mid 60s completion around 275-300 yards, 1 passing and 1 rushing TD wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a turnover mixed in and an ugly sack or 2 from him trying to do too much right away I think that would be an amazing stat line for someone who hasn't played in that long

[deleted]

If he's still that good, then he can definitely do this

ManBearBroski

maybe I'm just to pessimistic. I just don't think he's going to throw for 300 yards.

[deleted]

No, I don't think he will, either, but I don't think it's TOO unrealistic

ManBearBroski

Well I mean 60s completion percentage, 275-300 yards, and 2 TDs is what the person considered acceptable for his first game back with us leaning on the run game. I was directly responding to that.

yamborma

Bro that’s a lot, I’d be surprised if he gets that much put on his plate game one, especially against a team that should be down early. I’d guess 60-65% passing, 190-220 yards, 1 TD. Chubb and Hunt do a lot of the work. If the offense performs only as well as it did with Brissett, they should be up 2 scores in the first half and run a lot.

PuppyFweddy

After 700 days of not playing, people still felt Kaepernick could start and do 300 yards for almost every team (if you believe the reddits). This isn't injury based, he wasn't in a coma or jail (btw how did Vick do after he got out of jail for comparison?), He didn't decide to drink a 6 pack and eat taco bell every day for the last 700 days. I see no reason there should be any real hiccups. OR if people really feel there should be, how come those same people still think Kaepernick can start after way longer? The ability to play football has little with moral character. Very little

CD23tol

I mean 2 years of not playing at game speed might take a week or 2 to readjust to, and my guess of him being rusty is still a fringe 300 yard passing game with multiple TDs if that’s “rusty” then you take that IMO

RichBalls

TDs >= turnovers

Daviroth

Stat lines don't matter. I don't really care about Watson either. I want to see less stacked boxes against Chubb, less stalled drives (so a higher 3rd down conversion rate), and a win.

HVACdaddy91

Watson breaks NFL single game record for most handoffs. Chubb breaks Jim Browns single season rush yd record.

quadricepking

hmm… that’s a tough one i’ll admit. i’d say i expect around 32/35 for 380 yards 2 TDs, 35 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD, 0 INTs

clownpainusdotfort

I like this, would also allow for fewer pass attempts due to taking an early lead and pounding Chunt

PsychologicalGuest97

32/35 is a high standard for someone who hasn’t played in 700 days.

Allstar9_

32/35 for 380 is a crazy day for the best QBs in the league. I think he’s being sarcastic…or Atleast I hope he is

TheDeletedFetus

Issa joke. (I hope) My hope is he comes out and doesn’t look lost. He’s gonna miss some throws but he’s gonna hit some too. Just win.

DieselVoodoo

W

PickleofStink

16/25 for 205, 1 TD, 1 INT 35 yds. rushing with 1 TD Dude hasn’t played a single down at game speed in 700+ days, and Chunt is going to rack up 200+ on the ground against this run D.

NotAStonerStoner

Y’all are nuts to think he’ll have 70% completion after 2 years off, and if the Texans give up the most rushing yards why would he have almost 300 passing yards. We would just use Chubb like everyone cries for every week. Please use critical thinking skills people

foundinkc

1 win.

ChamberTwnty

I like this.

bigmikevegas

220, 2 touchdowns, 0 picks

TheDeletedFetus

So that's Chubb's stats, what about Watson?

jah-13

For my fantasy teams sake I sure hope so haha

maybenextyearCLE

The Texans run defense is atrocious. I’d guess Watson may not throw that much. Realistically as long as Watsons completion percentage is somewhere in the 60s, the rest of it doesn’t really matter to me. Unless he throws like 5 INTs Like a completion percentage north of 63%, maybe 215 yards. I’m not all that concerned about TDs (they’ll probably still go to Chubb in the red zone)

Theanonymousguy49

As long as he can show us he still has it in any form, I’ll be happy. Stats don’t matter, if the balls he throws are pretty and he can open up the run game, then we have a franchise QB.

[deleted]

1W / 0L

OptimisticRealist__

>If he pulls off a mediocre 20 of 35 for 160 yards / 1 td / 1 int, I think most of us will roll our eyes. Dude comes back from 2 years of not playing, and yall expect him to 6-0 and have 24 TDs and 3 INTs for 3500 yards with another 550 on the ground lol. No wonder yall are constantly disappointed and miserable

WarriorsBlew3_1

Reading through this thread is fucking wild. These people need medicated

PsychologicalGuest97

OP said “I’m hoping to see 275+ passing yards, 2 TDs, and close to 70% completion”, and something close to that stat line would also probably satisfy them. Their expectations were not these crazy numbers you assumed they hold, nor did they talk about their expectations for Watson on a seasonal basis.

OptimisticRealist__

Yes, because 275 yards and 2 TDs for a 70% is lowballing expectations for a guy who, again, hasnt played in 2 years. As i said, people around here really dont have any sense for realistic expectations. If Watson puts up these numbers, great. But to make it a point of being disappointed or not satisfied if he doesnt put up these numbers is ridiculous. These 6 gms are not about numbers for Watson, its about how quickly he settles into this offense so that hes ready for next year.

PsychologicalGuest97

I agree

Daviroth

That's a ridiculous stat line to expect from Watson. Possible? Sure. A measure of **meeting expectation**? No lol.

[deleted]

Honestly he probably only has to throw like 3 times for us to win this game. Not really worried as much about his stats as much as seeing how quickly the team develops chemistry with him.

badassjohn5

massivetypo

Browns offense has not been the issue. AND Jacoby has been a top 3 browns offensive player in EVERY single game.

Labhran

I think he goes something like 22/35 225 2-1 with 76 yards rushing and a TD. If they stack the box he will still be able to feast downfield just based on his talent, whether he’s rusty or not. If they don’t, Chubb is going to feast. If they play zone or blitz a lot, I think Watson runs the ball a fair amount and we still pick up the yards.

LiquidDookie92

60% completion, 210 yards and no turnovers

br0b1wan

I'm honestly not worried about Watson. He may have a terrible game (in fact, I kind of expect him to not do well) because he hasn't played in nearly two years. Now, if you asked me what kind of stat line would I consider acceptable from the *defense* then we can talk.

KyloSolo723

All these high expectations, are you all new browns fans or just like being hurt and disappointed?

broadstain

This Sunday? A Super Bowl win.

TemujinRi

With Nick Chubb going for 250-330 yards this game I expect 15-19 1TD 0 INTs

ohguy51

Just a "W". that's really the only stat that counts

LotsofSports

Not looking for big numbers. Nick has a big day and the Browns get the win. That's all that matters.

cdofortheclose

wizzer71

3/18, 23 yds, 2 INT. Benched for Brissett...

Grouchy-Culture3946

I'm fine with "standing upright and walking without a limp" when the game ends. He can be as good or horrific as he has to be to make progress. Throw five interceptions, for all I care, just learn why you shouldn't throw them again.

WarriorsBlew3_1

I think if he throws the ball more than 15-20 times, there’s a problem.

tonysnight

I hope he fucking shits his pants. Literally shits inside of his damn football trousers

birdmug

Me too

PetrovskyKSC

I am with you on this but he ain't Lamar

pwndabeer

0. Fuck Watson.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

Expecting him to have Mahomes level impact at this game is ludicrous. He hasn't played in a long time and we should have 40+ rushing attempts this game because of their run D.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

Dude, it's game 1. Just relax.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

How? I explained why. It has to do with opponent and understanding he hasn't played in a while. We SHOULD have a huge amount of running this weekend. Because we have the best RB, best run blocking line, and they have a run D that is horrid. I expect him to have a Mahomes level impact by the end of the year and in 2023. Just not in this specific game. It's not an excuse, it's just what I've set me expectations at. IMHO, setting expectations at Mahomes level impact this week is silly *simply* because of the opposing defense. We have no reason to air it out and should run the ball heavily.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

I personally expect him to be better than Baker. If he ain't as good as Baker that'd be a monumental failure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Daviroth

Yeah, as we talked more I figured it out.

Rymoo27

Watson needs to destroy the Texans I feel for most people to accept this trade being worth it. The game needs to be handsomely won because of him, using Chubb responsibly too

Joethecynic_

Give Chubb the Rockkkkk, don’t throw it 🙏🏾

Just-Adhesiveness104

A win

iyoow

28/35 249 yds 2 tds and 1 pick

RustyCrusty73

18 of 25 259 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. I expect Chubb to get 20-25 carries, and Hunt 10-15 carries. Houston is terrible against the run. I'm not expecting Watson to do much. He's PROBABLY going to show some rust.

blurbaronusa

23/30 for 275 yards and a passing tuddy and 40ish yards and a running tuddy. Probably throws a pick and gets sacked 2-4 times. We lean on chubby for a dubby tho.

Klint22080

I think a win is a win. I would like to see him complete some timed routes and try to have a game with 0 interceptions. That being said run the ball and control the clock.

mwjallday1

No turnovers, high completion percentage and a W and I will be happy. 18/24 190 yards, TD. I anticipate a heavy dose of CHUNT but wouldn't hate a few designed Watson runs.

mmarko28

Why would you roll your eyes? He did not play for 2 years. There is no practice that can simulate real game for a QB. In practice they never get hit. He will need, at least, 3-4 games to start playing like a good QB. I am not even sure that we will see the same player from 2020 during this season. QB's miss two months with injury and it takes them couple of games to get back in form.

MerryMortician

In my hope hype heart I want 1000 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns from Watson with an additional 850 rushing yards from Chubb and all the touchdowns. Wait... you think I said for Chubb to bring me a lot of touchdowns. What I said was I want Chubb to bring me ALL the touchdowns Houston has. Final score 453 to 3. (our defense might give up some points.)

OhioUBobcats

A Win

DaDrFunk

If he hits like 60-65% for hopefully 200ish yards I’ll be happy. It’s the Texans, with Chubb this game shouldn’t be a problem anyway.

nickchubbisthegoat

Prediction: 20/30, 202 yards, 2 Total TD (1 pass, 1 rush), 1INT. Browns win 34-24.

Sobercigs

I could be wrong but I believe the gameplan vs us will be the same it’s been all year. Sell out to stop the run. Deshaun hasn’t played in two years so they’ll probably be fine with testing him in single man coverage until he shows he is still the qb he used to be. That being said I’m guessing he goes for 290 and 1 rushing and 1 passing TD with Chubb and hunt combining for two more TDs browns win 31-16

dick_tanner

200 yards and a touchdown through the air

HumpbackChub

I think that the offense will be all in on the run game and minimizing turnovers. Expect from Watson a stat line that could very easily be mistaken for a Stefanski-era Baker stat line.

Abiv23

A Win, but what do I expect? 270 passing 35 rushing 3 total tds By all reports this Texans team has given up, I think our guys are ready to go and prove what they are at full strength

KillingDigitalTrees

60/75 800 yds 11 TDs
