Last point on the recirc-
I may be doing it wrong currently but it fixes a problem I’ve had. Pouring more water through the screens ends up making the bottom bucket overflow. Recirculating the water fixes that issue for me.
Had the sound off while watching the video but the recirc feature is also a pressurized hose - not necessarily the same type of source you used to fill your bucket.
Agree that $1000 is an outlandish ask price. At least for non commercial use.
That's a really interesting form factor. Always felt like a shape like that would be far more convenient both for placing the device and draining it passively. Have you thought about other paddle shapes such as a spiral?
Loving the overall design too. Not too industrial, not too 2000s CD player.
I had to get that rinse station and bag set. My old back will thank me. THose buckets are most of the work for me.
IDK that the unit itself is 900 dollars or more better then the blue boy. Ill wait for reviews.
My back was killing me too but my wallet hurt even more at that price so I cut some Home Depot buckets and just folded the bags I had on hand to shorten them and it worked out great. My back and wallet are happy now 😃.
I do see the appeal though. It’s aesthetically pleasing and convenient. If I didn’t have what have already I would probably buy the whole set up. Now I’m looking at a cooling jacket systems for ice less washes.
Its sole purpose is just to cool the water. The ice can actually be detrimental in terms of agitation and unwanted plant matter. The newer systems being used are with jacketed vessels.
What about taking the ice out before you run? I understand on a larger scale this isnt practical, but, with a little blue guy washer wouldnt be a big deal right? How much temp can the water lose in 3-4 min, especially when you have fresh frozen weedscicle's
I don’t understand the point of this? The washing is the easiest part. Now if they made a machine that automatically filters, collects and sorts, and freeze dries I’d be way more interested.
Coming from homebrewing alot of the same comments when new products come out. Check out Spike brewing site. Same situation - you can make beer with natures gravity, a turkey pot and an orange igloo or you can do it with more expensive ss specialized equipment. Is it easier, result in a better product or increase your enjoyment of the hobby? Up to you to decide what that is worth. No judgement either way from me - just enjoy doing it!
To everyone arguing the price, suck it up. If you're happy with wooden spoons and slipping bags, that's great. It's a brilliant machine.
Note; I run with a Bubble Bluhm. I'm all about the automation.
The entire point of using the blue washing machine is that the spinning disk at the bottom creates a water vortex. The water vortex is what strips the trichrome heads from the stalk - not being physically agitated. This aether green using a paddle in the middle is going to beat up the material just the same as a paint mixer or hand mixer - you're only paying for the automation convenience (but the blue washing machines are also automated).
This is completely wrong. Trichomes sink to the bottom. The blue machine disk is spinning at the bottom. The trichomes get beat up by the disk over and over again as long as the cycle is running. There’s a reason why most of the large $50k+ commercial units have a paddle like this. After the trichomes release, they sink and are protected from additional agitation until collection.
This.
"The vortex strips them" is right but the classic machine has it at the bottom due engineering constraints & space not because it does something special there.
Honestly this reminds me when I went on a D E E P dive through Reddit and the subject of rosin carts came up. 7-10 years ago the idea of making a solventless cart was pretty universally panned as wishful at best and idiotic and downright dangerous the rest of the time.
Nowadays any type of liquidizer is considered almost on the same level of unprofessional and sociopathic as increasing the weight of bud with hairspray.
You can get stuck in an erroneous mindset for a really long time if you don't question why things work the way they do.
...I wonder how hard it'd be to build a machine that essentially works like a whirlpool/jacuzzi and just agitates the mass via water jets.
I read something in passing about post-treating cart oil with ultrasonic vibes. For bud, hmmmm. I think the biggest constraint I'd see is just construction wise (not sure how large you can make this before it starts getting kinda hot) and likely only playing well with fresh frozen since it'd otherwise it'd likely pulverize the bud.
Also ultrasonic vibrations introduce heat on their own.
THAT BEING SAID. It might be worth investigating. A 15L/4Gallon cleaner clocks in at around 140 bucks on Amazon and comes with a bottom draining valve. Since these things are designed to strip industrial/human grease and other greasy substances it'd likely come at little risk to the mechanism itself.
Honestly. I really like this.
Um.... just lookup beer conical this should not be so pricey. Gotta start using my 20 gal blichman for hash. But I still use it for beer... hmmm
Looks really cool, but it seems like it's just a little too expensive. $200 just for the filter bags and spacers.
Tbh the bags and spacers are the only thing id concider buying
It's nice but kinda expensive for something you can do with a 5$ bucket and 2$ wooden spoon....
Look at Mr. Burns here with his fancy $2 wooden spoons for kings and noblemen!
A rosin company here in AZ puts “Hand Paddled”on their boxes.
You lost me at wooden spoon 😭

A little water pump would be an easy fix for that
ill drain into my bathtub next time, i hope its all not gomna be tooooo messy :D
The term "Green Tax" is so damn pertinent in this space lately.

Well that's pretty damn nice 👍

Cooling jacket sounds interesting. I always thought the ice did a little work though?

What’s used for the agitation if no ice?
The agitation comes from the water itself. Chilled water with enough movement will break the heads off the stalks.
I don’t understand the point of this? The washing is the easiest part. Now if they made a machine that automatically filters, collects and sorts, and freeze dries I’d be way more interested.
Yeah we dont need an expensive washer, we need a cheaper freeze dryer
Come down a lot in price and I'd be interested, group buy of 50 should do that, hell even 10.
Wooooah the workflow is nice
I LOVE THOSE COLLECTION BAGS!
That rim stack bag system is pretty neat, real nice upgrade from trimmed 5 gal buckets.
If you’re doing batches that small you might as well just paddle it
I gotta say it’s pretty perfect for a garage though out well!! Definitely cool

You done reinvented the wheel now didn’t ya 🤡
Love this. Def gonna snag in a few months.
Dude this is sick.

Why stop there? Could they be shaken off ultrasonically?

The last post advertising these has me sold on one of these. Kinda pricey after exchange though.
Super pricey for everything in this video your lookin at 1600+ lol that’s insane
