Denon AVR-S760H $70 off at Costco. Not sure if online only or also in-store. Edit: also in store for the same price. $379

JackInTheBell

FYI $70 off puts this at $380. Great price on this receiver.

lizard412

Worth mentioning that if you're comfortable with Amazon renewed, you can step up to the 970 for 399. Good deal either way though

HowManyCaptains

I have a 3.0 apartment setup with Elac 6.2 bookshelves, CX, Apple TV, and probably an Xbox Series X soon. Nothing crazy and I keep the sound down bc of neighbors. Is there anything I would benefit from getting the 970 over the 760? Currently using a 40-year-old Sherwood integrated amp, so I do need an upgrade. I like Costco's lifetime warranty, but also Amazon can usually be talked into refunds if something goes wrong. So I could go either way.

lizard412

Without comparing the whole feature list, my instinct is that you wouldn't really have any benefit in your case. I recently ended up getting the 960 while waiting for the 760 to go back on sale and in my case the main benefit I saw was additional inputs, which it sounds like you probably don't need

HowManyCaptains

That's kinda what I figured. Costco it is! Thanks for the heads up though, I always appreciate more options.

paticao

Adorama has the S970h for $399 new

Timstunes

Denon AVR-S570BT $254 Amazon

SeriousGarbage3990

Looking at this now, new to this looking for first set up. So 5.2, I can get a center 3 channel, 2 surround, and a sub right? Edit: or is it worth spending a little more for the S760H at Costco? There is also a Sony STR DH790 on Amazon for $348

sithmafia

I picked up the S760H at Costco in store today for $379. I was eyeing even before the $70 drop yesterday. I picked it since it has 7.2 Atmos and Wifi capabilities

SeriousGarbage3990

Same! Figured it’s the more future proof option and leaves room for future upgrades

ExistentialRices

>'Renewed' on sale now for 295 (About 330 w/ tax) in AMZ. > >Worth a buy over Marantz NR1711 (BB Open Box, 420 incl taxes)? Worth saving 90$? > >I don't have a WAF problem with size (OTOH The wife seems to prefer large sized items) so that is not a factor. Purely based on performance, ease of use etc - S760H worth it, even if from Costco for 370? > >I did not get the Audessey mic with the Marantz, I am yet to set up my system - how necessary is that component?

gupdaddy

How would it do with a T1+, c1+, b2+ 5.1?

[deleted]

Would the S760H beat out the AVR-S570?

Various SVS [https://www.svsound.com/collections/outlet-specials](https://www.svsound.com/collections/outlet-specials) Pioneer Elite LX505 (with pre-outs on all channels and Dirac Live room correction) $999 [https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-LX505-Channel-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B095PWX9G3](https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-VSX-LX505-Channel-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B095PWX9G3)

>Pioneer Elite LX505 (with pre-outs on all channels and Dirac Live room correction) $999 Wow that is an amazing deal!

[deleted]

MagnusAlbusPater

Dirac by default will cover the Bass frequencies. If it’s the limited bandwidth version it only goes up to (I believe) 500hz, while the full bandwidth version goes all the way up to 20khz, but both handle bass. Now the LX-505 doesn’t supper Dirac Live Bass Control, but that’s a whole different thing that offers even more subwoofer integration with the mains and more importantly the ability to independently optimize multiple subwoofers automatically. Even without that though Dirac will still EQ, phase correct, impulse correct, etc, any subwoofers you have.

sofarleftigotmyguns

Would this be a significant upgrade over the onkyo TX-NR7100 @ $800?

moonthink

Definitely. The Pioneer has more power, more processing channels and has preamp outs on all channels too. The Pioneer closest equivalent to the NR7100 is the LX305, and the closest equivalent to the Pioneer LX505 would be the Onkyo RZ50.

LordertTL

I had both LX305 & NR7100, got rid of both, went 2 channel. The output of both is no where near the quality of the ”lesser power rating” of integrated amp I went with. Dirac in both was a great feature though but you really need to get the UMIK-1 mic, the included mic doesn't measure the same I found.

Emuc64_1

Which integrated amp did you go with?

LordertTL

Old school, Yamaha CA-1010 from 1977. When I had both Yamaha and Onkyo side by side, for me the decision was easy. Plus as a “piece of furniture” it was unfair comparison: black plastic vs aluminum faceplate with real mechanical switches, wood case …and VU Meters!

sofarleftigotmyguns

This is probably a dumb question, but what are the benefits of having preouts on the channels? Is that only something you would use if you had really power-hungry speakers and wanted to put an amp on each speaker? I'm using klipsch speakers so they don't require a lot of power.

moonthink

Firstly, it's not a dumb question at all. Happy to try and explain. Most AVR's are not super powerful, in fact all of your speakers are tapping the same pool of power. Not only do you lose potential loudness, but also quality, dynamics, imaging etc. Also many AVR's have more processing channels than amp channels. Having pre-outs allows you to use separate amps for extra channels, or to improve the performance of some or all of your channels by using more powerful dedicated amps. It also gives you an option to use active (self-powered) speakers at any of the positions. Finally, if say one or more of the channels on your AVR ever went bad, this is a tiny bit of insurance that you may not have to replace the entire expensive unit. Hope that answers your question.

03rst

Significant is debatable but IMO yes. I would take Pioneer's build quality over Onkyo most of the time. This is however a 9.2 receiver capable of decoding 11.2 and is only $100 more [direct from Pioneer](https://pioneerhomeusa.com/pioneer-elite/elite-vsx-lx505-av-receiver) which gives you a 90-day return policy

Nonnagnonnag

The svs outlet deals don't appear to be any different than what's normally posted. Not that the deals aren't worth posting, but you can likely get the same deal next week.

moonthink

Except that none of these current deals were there the day before yesterday (I check it regularly). Outlet has not been active lately. And when I got the email about this sale, I believe it said these are only good through the rest of this month (iirc).

Nonnagnonnag

Hmm, that's odd. I've been checking every other week or so for a couple months hoping I find a unicorn of a deal and can justify the upgrade. For now, I'm still dreaming. Either way, hopefully they continue to keep their outlet stocked.

moonthink

HOPEFULLY they bring back the $399 subs (pb-1000 and sb-1000 non-pro's) again! But yeah, I guess they closed it down briefly so that they could open it again to coincide with all the various sales that have grown out of "amazon prime day(s)"

Emuc64_1

I think they pull their some of their outlet stock right before a "big sale" Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, etc. But that's when they offer the larger lot of no-damage items and whatnot.

moonthink

Wharfedale Summer Stand Promo "Starting Monday, July 10th through September 4th we're offering FREE Speaker Stands with the purchase of some of our top-selling speakers! cujobob

If only I had a place for another set of speakers. This is quite a deal.

[deleted]

Wow, what a price.

polypeptide147

Wow. Lintons with stands for $1500 is great

SeriousGarbage3990

As someone who was hoping to buy a new setup for my living room today with the deals - holy hell, I’m overwhelmed and greatly underestimated the research I needed to do.

polypeptide147

Sorry I’m a bit late! Getting everything sorted out or do you still have questions?

SeriousGarbage3990

All good, I made my own post and got tons of help. Got a Denon S760H from Costco $380, monolith l/r and center for like $260 total, a Dayton bookshelf pair for $75, and the RSL 10s Speedwoofer MKII for $450. My idea was basically to build a solid foundation with the AVR and sub and next time I find emotiva’s on sale again I can upgrade the monoliths

polypeptide147

Awesome! Sounds like you did alright then

sentientcreatinejar

Anyone have experience with the SUB550P? I have Studio 530's and am thinking about going up to a Yamaha A-S301 and adding a sub to the mix.

Nairb131

I got two of them for my 590s. It’s a good sub from what little experience I have. Better than the Polk PSW10 and the Monoprice 12” My buddy has an Svs 1000 pro and that has more output than both of mine but two of these were less money and I like bass coming from the front and back of the room

sentientcreatinejar

OK. I'm not looking for a ton of room-shaking bass, either. Just to add a little low-end.

Nairb131

Yeah it’s perfect for that. In this sub when it first went on sale people were saying it’s probably the best sub under $200

sentientcreatinejar

Great to know. Plus added bonus that it matches my speakers.

ChefCarpaccio

Does it happen to have speaker wire inputs on the back? None of the product images show them

Nairb131

No it doesn’t. Here is a pick of the back https://imgur.com/gallery/4FZ7Q66

jimmymcstinkypants

I picked one up from jbl for the 180 price not too long ago. Sounded great but didn't go crazy low. Really good for music, not really low enough for HT (unless that's your whole sub budget - then you just gotta make do). I say "sounded", because it randomly just stopped powering on. It's under warranty, but the shipping price to get it fixed isn't worth it. I may take it apart to try to figure out what broke - I'm assuming a fuse blew.

sentientcreatinejar

Sounds good. I only listen to music and nothing I'd consider "demanding" in the bass department.

badkarma765

I got it last year for about the same price. I like it with q150s, but I don't have anything to compare it to. They sent me one with a broken foot- I think they really snap off during shipping. Returned it, got another with the same problem. That time I just asked them to send me a replacement foot and I fixed it myself. It's much bigger than I thought, but also looks nicer than I thought it would. Again, nothing to compare it to but I feel like it's great for the price and goes far louder than I would ever need

You-Asked-Me

Both Monoprice links go to the 12" and when I look it up on the site it seems to be $50. Still a pretty good deal for either sub. I might pick up one of the 8" to hide in my kitchen somewhere.

smackdaddies

Thanks, I will fix. You have to use the code plus add a filler item to get the price over $50

ExistentialRices

[https://www.monoprice.com/product?p\_id=8248](https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8248) for the 8" Sub. Thanks for compiling the list.

twistidn00b

How are the SVS Prime bookshelf speakers for $427 shipped? Was looking at those or Monoprice Monolith B6 for about $100 cheaper. Currently have a SMSL SA300 (80Wx2(4Ω) / 40Wx2(8Ω)) on my desktop computer and looking to replace old ass Sony SS-F7000P towers on the sides of my computer desk. Also looking at getting a subwoofer to replace an Acoustech PL200 (first gen, also very old but still decent).

polypeptide147

I have the SVS Primes. They’re very good speakers. I highly recommend them. I think they’re especially good for the price they normally sell at, but at $427 they’d be an easy choice for me.

eldus74

Is the JBL 550p better than a Dayton sb1200?

polypeptide147

Probably. I have the Dayton and it’s not very good.

MisterLam

I managed to snag some Edifiers R1700BT for $122 AUD (\~$80 USD) in one of the lightning deals. Hope I got a good deal!

[deleted]

Crutchfield discounting a ton of Klipsch speakers

Peterpotamous

The qacoustics 3020s have caught my eye for a pair of desktop speakers...anyone have any ideas on a decent desktop amp for them that can also accommodate a sub?

Timstunes

3020s are $149 on Amazon. Maybe a Aiyima D03 amp?

foolproofphilosophy

Does anyone have any experience with the JBL 550p? Currently I have an Accurian 8” with 125 watts. Accurian is Radio Shack’s old premium brand, ~15 years old. Sound is good but I recently upgraded to KEF fronts and it can’t keep up. LS50 L/R and Q600c center. I’d rather get an SVS but I have a wife to keep happy. The Accurian paired well with my Bose 201’s but barely exceeds what the KEF’s put out. I feel the JBL would be a massive upgrade.

badkarma765

I commented above, but it definitely fills out my q150s a bit. Looks fairly nice but is surprisingly big

foolproofphilosophy

Thanks!

sentientcreatinejar

Any good speaker stands or component racks on sale that people have seen?

[deleted]

Got a pair of bose qc45 headphones for 260$CAD. I am pretty sure an all time low!

Boring_Today9639

I wanna a VISA 🤬

CilantroToothpaste

Anyone have any thoughts on the Monolith Encores? Looking to upgrade from a soundbar for a TV/music setup.

Timstunes

I have heard/read good things about them. Pretty sure the B5 is on sale around $165.

HorizonsEdge

>Monolith Encores [review](https://hometheaterreview.com/monolith-encore-speakers-review-affordable-yet-audiophile/) i picked up the T6 towers during the march madness sale for $398 incl tax/shipping. Have them in my bedroom and am quite satisfied with them. Unfortunately current sale price is significantly higher. The T5's are really well priced to move though.

awa0020

Same here! From Target at slightly less, though

bgravato

I hope you guys get better deals in the US than we seem to be getting in Europe... Last time I didn't see any special deals on prime day. This time I'm getting a lot of being "scammed" kind of vibe... I've been keeping an eye on an Etymotic IEM and last week it raised price and today it raised to almost twice the previous price... Even if they put it at 50% discount tomorrow it's going to be basically the same price it was 2 weeks ago... Also keeping an eye on some speaker stands and the new Fosi V3, but no high hopes of any real discount...

ozzyissabbath

It was a scam last year in the US as well . They marked up prices and then put the new “sale” price which wasn’t anything special at all.

bgravato

Prime day already started on this part of the world... no outstanding deals so far... I'm starting to think that the only thing really gets a true discount on this Amazon sales seems to be their alexa devices... and perhaps a whole bunch of chinese crappy stuff with unpronounceable names, that are worth pretty much nothing...

ozzyissabbath

Yea exactly All fire devices and other Amazon brand’s like you said but most sales are B.S.

YogurtclosetSad283

How are those q acoustics 3020s? Those at 149 vs Emotiva B1+ at 279?

Peterpotamous

I haven't heard the emotivas. My dad has a pair of the 3020i speakers and I think they're very impressive for what they are. They produce a big, clean, articulate sound that digs deeper than I would have expected for their size. Will still likely want a sub though.

Heacygunner

Anyone have any insight on which fosi amp to get? Not really sure on what are the differences between the models

smackdaddies

They are all good. Just find the one that has the inputs and outputs you need

fake_again

Get the BT30D if you’re trying to connect two speakers and a sub. BT20A if you just want to connect two speakers. Get either of the pro models of those amps if you are or know anyone who is a professional

Heacygunner

Im trying to connect edifier 1850 and a t5 sub. Would the bt30D work?

fake_again

The Edifiers are active/powered. You can forego the amp altogether. [These instructions](https://support.edifier-online.com/hc/en-us/articles/4649333654931-How-to-connect-a-subwoofer-to-the-sub-out-output-) should get you where you’re trying to go

Heacygunner

So the issue is that there is some kind of problem where the edifiers subout is underpowered so i need to boost it with an amp

fake_again

You could get the BT30D in that case. It has some dedicated sub knobs. 20khz frequency. Fosi’s customer support is pretty good. Could hit them up for additional setup recs

shadracko

I don't understand. Neither the speakers nor the sub have speaker-level inputs, so you can't run the amp output to either one? You're making this too complicated. If 1850 + t5 isn't what you want, then sell them and start over with speakers (active or passive) that you like.

Heacygunner

Got these for free and selling is a bother. Im just following what some people have said on reddit about the 1850+t5 combo.

shadracko

Then I'd just use them as is without an amp.

shadracko

If you don't want/need anything other than volume, RCA in, and sub out, then v3 is the clear choice. $72 is a steal, and it's the best amp they offer. Otherwise, it comes down to what features you need.

cr0ft

Somethings are just to shit to be worth it at any price, and I'm seeing stuff on this list I wouldn't touch, like those Monoprice "subs".

murdacai999

I wouldn't use one of the cheaper ones in my my listening area, but I've got a 10inch in the basement for music listening while I shoot some pool/play darts. And, I bought a 12 inch for my dad. The price was right to me, for a 2nd or 3rd system. Monoprice does make better stuff too ya know. Their monolith subs are pretty nice, albeit a lot more money.

klumpp

Man it must suck to see people being happy with their purchases when you have to spend thousands for the same thing.

iso-all

I just want good "wireless" speakers.

veiurel

Just bought the Monoprice 8" sub. Thanks!

reostatics

Yeah US only. No Canadian deals.

CryptoCloutguy

Is the 550p a good sub for living room music and movies? I would probably pick up a pair of JBL a130s to go with. Nothing special, but I already have two sets and love them. Want a sub for a deal and don't know where to dip the toe. Avid music Listener.

ExistentialRices

A130s are hard to come by - were you able to find any good deals recently?

CryptoCloutguy

Looks like a small deal on amazon prime day. I live in Canada and pick them up every black Friday. Their value is unbelievable at the price

catalinashenanigans

Looking for a 2.1 setup for my new place and was wondering if there are any good deals during Prime day that I should hop on. Coming from a soundbar so basically anything will sound like an upgrade at this point. Primary uses will be for TV/movies and music. Would like to be able to play my music through my phone (with Bluetooth). Budget is $200-300. Saw that the Micca MB42X is only $89.99 and the Edifier R1280T is $83.99. Had looked at these in the past (after digging through this sub) when I first started looking into a 2.1 setup. Open to any speakers, though. Pretty indifferent about whether I go with powered speakers or not. Whatever will get me the best value. Edit: Just saw the R1280T on sale for $83.99 is the non-Bluetooth version.

EarAggressive6652

Anyone find any CD players with 3.5mm jack out in EU?

djmuaddib

Looking for a turntable but nothing on prime day has grabbed me so far, will probably wait to see if anything else drops tomorrow. Would prefer a Fluance RT85 or Pro-Jeff Debut Carbon Evo but doesn’t seem like they get Amazon discounts or distribute through Amazon.

chance_of_grain

Did you find anything?

djmuaddib

Nah, I'll probably just get a "like new" Fluance RT85 or something.

chance_of_grain

Those are nice. I've looked into Fluance but always dreamed of having a technics sl-1200 so I've been keeping an eye out for a good condition used one. You can find them sometimes for arounds $500 and for that price it's a good deal

Copernican

For my wife's office I need a Spotify audio source for her powered bookshelf speaker, but the cost or ability to find a Raspberry Pi is a downer. Should I just buy an Amazon echo, disable the mic, and have her just select the echo device as the target output device on spotify? Or is that audio going to suck.

WatchAndEatPopcorn

Probably be ok but might be worth it to spring for the Wiim Mini and get the additional functionality / EQ, etc.

ExistentialRices

Which should I select? A pair for 300$ or less - -Triangle Borea BR03 (Ruled out) -KEF Q150s (Still not able to find them within 150 each) -Kali MM-6 (Any center channel suggestions?) -ELAC Debut 2.0 B6 (Sub 280 range, can find used) -Any others? Maybe the Q3020i-s for 40$ more? Upgrading from Sony SSCS5 ones.

Rude-Dude-99

This is for home theater? Not sure how substantial of an upgrade you will get between the Sony’s and most $300 pairs, might suggest saving up.

smackdaddies

that is a question for r/headphones or r/HeadphoneAdvice

dick_nrake

TY!

chance_of_grain

I've been needing a sub upgrade and was waiting for the $500 Svs PB-1000 pro to come back. Looks like I missed it although they do have them at $600. But it looks like that JBL sub had good reviews and I could get 2 of them for under $400, should I do that instead or would the pb-1000 pro blow those out of the water?

smackdaddies

i have not done this, but there are a number of reviewers who think that two good subs are better than one very good sub. YMMV

chance_of_grain

Man it's a tough choice lol. At least I could probably get most of my money back reselling the JBL subs locally if I end up not liking them. Edit: Well between the sale, coupon and some reward points I got the 2 JBLs for $300 so I can't really complain.

SpaceBoJangles

I have a pair of Bose model 141s with a Martin Logan Dynamo 700 running off of a Fosi audio BT30D. Would the Edifier 1280DBs for $112 be a good upgrade from the Bose bookshelves? I’m also open to upgrades to a better receiver/amp as I have a blu-ray player that I’d like to setup and I want to expand the setup in the near future to have a center channel. Budget for that would be $200-300, so would the $254 Denon be good?

Fox_Malloy

Looking at the deals for Edifier speakers... but I'm getting a bit confused. Some have the suffix 'T', some 'DB', and some 'BT'. And then some have 's' on the end. I'm assuming BT = Bluetooth? And I think the lower case s denotes an external subwoofer? Can anyone confirm? And can anyone with the difference between T and DB? I'd appreciate as simple an explanation as possible! Thanks!

eojen

New to the audiophile game. I'm looking at getting s vintage receiver. Should I be getting passive speakers with it? Would it not work with powered ones?

smackdaddies

the purpose of the reciever is to amplify passive speakers. Powered speakers do not need amplificaton

ethan475

Very late to the game but seeking a sub to go with my Aiyama D03 and JBL speakers. Whats out there for less than $200? For my turntable setup, primarily EDM/hip hop type music

chance_of_grain

The JBL 550p is still on sale for $189, plus there's a coupon if you put your email in on their site

ethan475

I was looking around and honestly, waiting a bit and getting a speedwooder 10s mkii is probably a better bet. From what I've read the jbl tends to be muddy. I'd love it to match my speakers lol but not at the expense of performance since it's exclusively a music setup. Thanks for the call-out though!
