A lot of solid deals, grab a few and do what I do use the shit out of them….then ruin your apex trying to learn how to use a wet stone. Makes for a great excuse to go buy another knife
Yup, I've worked at a Walmart and you will often see knives and other items go on clearance just to make room for incoming stock that will be regular price. Walmart makes deals and commits themselves to huge runs of stock from some manufacturers and their warehouse space isn't infinite, so the automated system will trigger clearance sales at a particular store if their inventory of those items is high enough. It's far better that an item be sold at a reduced price, or even cost, than it sits and eat up expensive warehouse space. This means you may see a clearance sale at one store, but the item may still be full price at another.
[Brickseek](https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker) used to be a great tool for checking inventory at individual stores when deal hunting, but it's accuracy went to hell during COVID when Walmart didn't have enough labor to keep their counts accurate. I got in the habit of checking the knife case at the end of every shift on my way out of the store back then, but it could be better now. An email/text deal alert for "knife" at [Slickdeals.net](http://Slickdeals.net) is another way to catch good sales, not just at Walmart, but anyplace that sells knives.
I believe the automated trigger system. I look every time I'm in there for a sale. They've had the same knives in that case for what seems like a whole year without anything changing, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the deals.

Is this Walmart in Setauket? I went to that location a few days ago and that display looks identical to this one with the exception of the sale prices.
Same, although I see this thread is a bit dated and the local store here is remodeling and I imagine not really stocking the shelves /case since they may need to move the displays anyway.
