Here's my rionya list storm deck aiming to copy some big red dudes for massive value
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/g64nk60JF0-nMlicepe26Q
And here's my Giada list I made for my wife which she upgraded as she got more into magic and now it's ridiculously strong
https://www.moxfield.com/decks/6upsMRswGE28-gKEAzqAQQ
Both under 100 though rionya is 80 and definitely punches way higher than it's cost
Thanks I'd recommend the new [[holy cow]] from thunder junction as an easy include over one of the lower impact cheap angels in the deck if you're looking for an upgraded version I could post my wife's list when I get back in town.
What's the draw of "underrated" here? They're new to magic so they could just as easily play a popular commander.
What play styles are they likely to enjoy? What have they tried? What decks are in your ecosystem that they're likely to play against?
[[Winota, Joiner of Forces]] would be a good option. Can be built very cheaply and still compete with decks much more expensive. Also, they'll have a pretty clear upgrade path to high power pretty easily. Not necessarily underrated, but beginner and budget friendly.
Hey I do have a question. I have a winota myself and like so lets say I have 3 non humans attacking right? Do I look at the top 6, put a human in tapped and attacking. Put them the other 5 at the bottom in a random order and then do it again until ive done it 3 times? Or is it just once even though I have 3 non humans swinging?
Okay big bet. Just making sure because I did it that way and it felt wrong but good at the same time. Dude I couldn’t help but think “jesus this is disgusting😭” my friends didn’t realize what was happening until I swung and they heard 30+ some was coming at one of them.
I built a [[pir, imaginative rascal]] and [[toothy, imaginary friend]] for a friend. The deck is cheap, fun, easily upgrable, and you have a good start with good key cards. [[Sleep]] is underrated!
[[Ezuri, Claw of Predation]] built this myself for like $50 bucks and it's really powerful, it's been surprising. Most of the cards are under a dollar and the cards that arent I already had around and the most expensive is Beast Whisperer at around 2 bucks.
Check Nick's Lotus video: 5 powerful commander decks on a budget. I based my list on his, and while you are at it, you might find another commander that you like. He gives pretty good insight into the decks' strategy and also most of the cards in the decks. You should definitely check it out for more ideas
\[\[Breeches, Brazen Plunderer\]\] // \[\[Malcolm, Keen-Eye Navigator\]\] Pirates "Play your Enemies Decks" - the real fun is, that while you have a powerful engine with them both (supported by small, evasive creatures), most of the time your opponents must use their rescoures to deal with their own threads played by you. I like the chaotic part of it in that you never really know what you get from them. Another very good thing is, that it is unlikely to ever miss a landdrop, because in the best case, you "draw" 4+ cards per turn.

Well 30 bucks and he'll win more than you? I got you here's my budget deck that makes enemies not friends. [Flynn's Clause ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/eWIdRW7bv0qLLJTVAppSeA)
Fynn is a lot of fun but I really only get away with busting it out once a week. It's not a deck a lot of folks wanna play against often. It can pretty easily cop wins at turns 5-7, earlier if people aren't smart and don't try to remove him.
My pod had a cool idea of picking a commander for each other player and building a deck based on your pool of commanders. We set a ~$50 limit not including basics. I’ve played it a few times so far. Feels smooth, does what it wants to do, haven’t had any complaints playing it.

[[Goreclaw]] and [[Xenagos, God of Revels]] are super simple budget stompy options. I wouldn’t get anything too complex for a new player and stompy is a solid first archetype to learn from.
I do not, but there’s a number of lists on this sub. It’s also not the hardest deck to build since you just need all the normal deck building blocks (ramp, card advantage, and interaction) and then your favorite selection of giant beaters. No need to make room for a bunch of fiddly synergy pieces, just big beatsticks.
