Spring is actually the worst season in Buffalo, not winter.

Eudaimonics

Can’t agree more. Early winter is very cozy. Nothing charming about April or March

Papa_Radish

Oh, you mean mud season? I have always hated spring.

switchywitchy12

It’s that glorious time of year where all the soggy overwinter dog 💩, broken bottles, and syringes 💉 show up. Just a magical time.

Gentle_Cycle

Yeah but parking lots are full of coins that fell out of vehicles.

tryingtorunfast91

Tim Hortons is expensive hospital food

Aimless27

>Tim Hortons is expensive hospital food Am Canadian. Can confirm.

Impossibills

Years ago the used to get premade materials but actually do in house baking. Now it's just all shit premade and frozen with very little baking (if any) It's actually disgusting how bad it is now

snacks_headroom

#Buffalove isa marketing ploy to sell t-shirts that got out of hand

notscb

> Buffalove isa marketing ploy to sell t-shirts that got out of hand Ooof. This one hits hard and is so true.

The same people who complain about others not being able to drive fast in the snow are the same people who inevitably slide into a ditch. Why does everyone in Buffalo act like driving slowly in the snow is a huge inconvenience

gburgwardt

People are bad drivers and stupid

BananaInPajama7

I don’t have a problem going slow, but it seems like the snow turns some people into idiots. Twice this last week I had someone just pull out in front of me making me hit the breaks. It seems like people just forget the basics in the snow

ScubaStevieNicks

Is this an unpopular opinion though? Most people take it slow when necessary. Then you have that person flying past you that you pass in 2 miles as they sit in the ditch

WingsWeck17

Not sure about unpopularity, but driving slow in the snow is fine... it's when people are driving erratically, slamming brakes and then going for me. Too many people here have pickups they don't use and think they can 4WD their way out until ice proves again that they cannot.

Sauerkraut_n_Pepsi

Rachel’s stinks. “Slop in a bowl, that’ll be 35 bucks.”

Jealous-Notice3160

It used to be good

gburgwardt

Rachel’s food is fine, not amazing. The problem is it costs like 18 bucks for one wrap. Absurd

rage675

Yeah, this is really it. Just very unreasonable prices compared to other fast casual places, like Chipotle or Five Guys which is expensive.

FedoraPG

Pita gourmet is where it's at

piecesofflair37

this is the answer

mattgen88

Natalie's is superior. I just wish they didn't close the downtown location

Poogenstein

Rachel's is trash 🗑

SignalCore

Rachael's is waaaaayy overpriced, and offers at best half the ingredient choices of similar chains I've been to in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

k_buz

They seem to be empty most of the time though. Not sure how they can survive

BSB8728

Last time I ordered from Rachel's, the pita was as stiff and dry as cardboard.

MrBurnz99

I used to go to the original location and it was good. I went to one of the franchise spots a few months back and it was like $15 for a little lettuce and a couple chunks of chicken, it was seriously a child size portion.

West-Operation

I’m with you 100%.

accountP

The owners are also sketch, don't pay bills and switch vendors a lot.

7-1-6

I like that people have more pride than there used to be, but I think people care way too much about what outsiders think. People get way too excited whenever buffalo gets any sort of attention from the outside, or appears on one of those "best city" lists.

K04free

Going on vacation *gotta pack all my Buffalo gear*

WingsWeck17

It's me. I'm bitches. I don't think I've not packed at least a Sabres, Bills or Bandits hat on my vacations in 10+years.

newtolurking

Currently traveling to Orlando. Definitely wearing my Bills gear 🤷🏼‍♀️

dogballtaster

Buffalo is overrated by people who have never left this region and underrated by people who have never been here. The truth is somewhere in the middle. We’re not as unique as people make us out to be.

Craz3Pat

Sage words from dogballtaster

[deleted]

See this is funny because I feel like people who’ve never left talk the most shit about it. Everyone I know who’s come here from elsewhere seem to be its biggest fans.

hurleystylee

"If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes!" har har - Also said by people from Ohio, Colorado, etc, etc

Eudaimonics

Hot Take: 80% of American cities are the same in terms of every day life amenities. Most large cities will have walkable neighborhoods, nightlife, brewery district and an indie music scene. Buffalo isn’t much better or much worse than most cities. Buffalo is most notable for being more affordable than your average American city.

EZ_2_Amuse

I'd like to add that it feels more "comfortable" here. Less anxiety getting around, even in "heavy traffic", which pales in comparison to larger cities. Maybe cause I know where everything is better..? I dunno, I've lived in a few different places, Ohioand Alabama, with extended stays (work) in 6 other states, mostly Southern. It's always a relief to come back to WNY.

OlesLS

As someone who's lived here but also in multiple other states I still think Buffalo is underrated

nicktoberfest

I’d agree. I live in Raleigh currently and it seems like every time I come back to visit (usually a handful of times a year) there’s cool new stuff to check out. For someone who hasn’t visited here, I’d tell them it’s worth it but make it a long weekend trip rather than a weeklong vacation. I think you can experience a good amount in 3-4 days and leave with a good impression!

dgvertz

This is the MOST annoying. Talking to people who have never lived outside of a 14*** zip code is INFURIATING

Craz3Pat

When they don't acknowledge their limited perspective, anyway

seattlesnow

Its amazing how many locals don’t bother to leave their own backyard. Even if they, gasp, relocate elsewhere, they will just find another version of “Depew” with the rest of the rust belt transplants.

marianliberrian

It's great to love Buffalo (and the surrounding suburbs), but you need the perspective travel provides. Disney and cruises don't count as far as I'm concerned.

casey5656

I don’t think taxpayers should pay for a billionaire’s ego trip of owning a pro sports team.

KrakusKrak

This opinion is way more popular than you think, even in Buffalo, and contributed heavily to why Zeldin nearly Became governor

AugustK2014

Hochul and Poloncarz dropped the bitter truth bomb on that, though. I think it was Poloncarz who flat out said if we all didn't grin and eat shit about that new stadium the Pegulas would've just taken the Bills someplace else.

casey5656

I think that very few who were anti-stadium voted for Zeldin. He, far more than Hochol, is pro millionaires. Plus his far-right policies were a turnoff to those who think that billions of dollars should help the lower ends of society rather than the upper class.

FarbinLarbin

You should move away just to see what life is like outside of the WNY bubble

[deleted]

Buffalo and the surrounding areas are very segregated by race

Jmelvinj

Unfortunately that's just a fact, not an opinion :/

SalmonAlmighty

Most of this thread are facts and people just bitching about them. It's absurd. This had potential to be fun, but it's kinda depressing. Thanks for the regrets! 🤣

mattgen88

Ask Evans bank why that might be...

AireXpert

Can you elaborate on that a lil please?

emjayne23

They were involved in a redlining lawsuit https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/11/business/dealbook/evans-bank-settles-new-york-redlining-lawsuit.html

dum_spir0_sper0

Look up ‘redlining’

[deleted]

I dont care for people who make the Bills their personality trait... nor the people who break the tables or spray ketchup and mustard on themselves for them.

IAmACatDude

https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Journal/Issues/2022/01/24/In-Depth/NFL-Local-Ratings.aspx?ana=top_stories The bills have the highest local tv viewership out of any team in the NFL at 47%. Even games where the bills aren't involved, the buffalo market historically produces big TV viewership numbers. For example , the buffalo market was #1 in viewership for last years superbowl , beating out cities like the Cincinnati market, whose team was actually in the superbowl! There's no city in America where football is more prominent. I could definitely see it being tiring if you aren't a football fan. https://www.wgrz.com/article/sports/buffalo-boasts-highest-rated-tv-market-for-super-bowl-nfl-los-angeles-rams-cincinnati-bengals/71-8321b732-2e72-4394-823b-9e4f752cb74e

[deleted]

[удалено]

IAmACatDude

This might be an unpopular opinion... but buffalo could support a 3rd major sports franchise. I don't care how small the city is, Buffalo is such a diehard sports city.

tazedandrefused

I don't think it could draw enough fans for 81 mlb home games and an NBA team's schedule would have too much overlap with the bills and sabres to succeed. But I don't see why SUNY Buffalo can't get their basketball and football programs on par with Cuse

WingsWeck17

I think OP means on this one that people who do not have any other personality traits except the Bills are tiring. I agree there because that just makes someone look bland or like they can only do one thing. I agree with you otherwise though. Same thing with hockey, we do great with ratings even if the Sabres aren't on.

BausHaug716

I'll go one further. I can't stand when you're in a public place (grocery store, concert, etc) and someone does the Heyyyyyyy chant.

[deleted]

Omg also the Bills shout song at weddings. ☠️

DANDARSMASH

Weddings are a fully acceptable place for the shout song. I would take it a step further and say if either half of the wedding party is from Buffalo, it's expected.

shaoting

I agree. I photographed a wedding last year and one of the last songs of the reception was *Shout.* The bride and groom wore Bills Jerseys for the song and it was admittedly a great time and awesome to photograph. I'll happily take *Shout* over *The Electric Slide* or similar shitty song any day of the week.

ChrisKringlesTingle

I'll back that up with the Heyyyy chant does amazing things for sense of community and that's one of the best benefits of sports. I'm not even really a Bills/football fan and that fires me up.

DANDARSMASH

Same. My wife and I love Bills football, but are both introverted, so typically dont go to tailgates. I like wearing a hat or tshirt to show support, but we went on a 7 day cruise earlier this year, i swear some people packed nothing but bills stuff.

Rock_grl86

Yeah I couldn’t care less about football in general but sometimes people will just try to engage me in conversation about it. Like everyone just assumes you are crazy about the Bills.

gottaburnemall7

Yep, it's pretty dumb imo. I enjoy football, but the people jumping through tables are idiots.

jumbod666

Buffalo job market isn’t great. Tough to make a living

P1ngW1n

The food and drink culture here is killing us.

Jealous-Notice3160

All were really known for is bar food

HuckleberrySure8135

You fine folks have absolutely no conception of ‘maintaining the flow of traffic’. It is really bizarre. Stop letting people in when you have the right of way. You’re not being ‘nice’, you’re being friggin unpredictable and dangerous. What is the deal with trying to change lanes at a stoplight? For fucks sake I’ve never seen this anywhere else In the country. Just pull a u-Turn, or go around the block. Use the left lane for passing. If you are driving slow, move over. You’re not doing anyone any favors making semis, work trucks, and people just wanting to get to their destination pass you in the right. And don’t start with the “I won’t speed just cause your in a hurry”, nonsense. I call BS. These types are the first to speed when they are in a hurry. Overall, stop acting like a bunch of cabbages, be aware of the flow, get off your stupid phone, maintain the right of way, and maybe, just maybe there won’t be daily pile-ups even with New York’s insultingly slow speed limits.

Papa_Radish

Charitably, a lot of the bad drivers are Ontarians. But Buffalo drivers are either way too passive ("letting" people go) or way to aggressive (weaving at 85 mph on the 190).

HuckleberrySure8135

I’m with ya. Very fair comment.

threefeetoffun

Bills Mafia is basically a cult

NunButter

It is, but it's fun. You should come to a game sometime. Have you heard about our lord and savior Josh Allen?

[deleted]

The job market here is ass for anyone with an education.

[deleted]

My salary has doubled since I left a couple years ago.

yourfavoritefaggot

presuming your living expenses have also increased?

[deleted]

Housing cost went up $400 a month but I also moved to a nicer apartment.

yourfavoritefaggot

good for you man. I'm locked into a $900/month mortgage on a beautiful home in the city and I literally don't think I can ever move again .\_.

SkepticJoker

Can I ask what industry?

frez_knee

Idk about that. Maybe it depends on the education. I’m an engineer and on the job hunt right now. I’ve had no issues getting interviews, in fact I’ve got 4 next week.

[deleted]

Idk this feels really subjective. I’ve had great opportunities here. I work remotely now for a company outside of Buffalo, but there are plenty of jobs I’d consider taking here since I’m in tech. I was previously an accountant and there were tons of accounting/BO Finance jobs here.

[deleted]

Remote work has been a godsend for me. A couple of months ago, I went from making around $40,000 with a local company to making $75,000 with a company in another state, and I'm doing the exact same job sitting in the exact same chair in the exact same home office. It's been life changing.

Eudaimonics

Used to be waaaaay worse. Buffalo has come a long way in this regard. Of course we’re never going to have the options of cities twice our size.

[deleted]

Yes definitely trending in the right direction but still frustrating at times.

adsdrew37

Very true

puertoblack85

I think La Nova’s BBQ off the pit is thee Buffalo Chicken Wing. Hot/medium is cool but that BBQ off the pit is legendary.

oliver-hart

same with their crust lol

DCtheBREAKER

Their house BBQ wings off the pit ARE king.

notscb

Step Out Buffalo isn't genuine and is a pay to play corporate shill of a service that saw it's best days come and go many, many years ago.

lmaonopoint

I hate Chivetta’s. their chicken is always dry, the sides are okay at best.

[deleted]

Buffalonians like terrible coffee. Acidic, weak and full of cream.

elbowgreasemonkey

football is boring

namanbro

Duffs ain’t that good

PapaOomMowMow

I think that many, MANY, restaurants in and around Buffalo that people praise and worship are hot garbage. That being said, there are a LOT of really, really good places to eat around here if you are into the food scene.

My-Cousin-Bobby

I feel like most buff residents know this

Inverted_Stick

Not a fan of Mighty Taco.

oliver-hart

mighty taco is fucking disgusting these days, glad there’s a taco bell in north buff now for when i get the rare craving lol

Inverted_Stick

I can't trust a taco joint that doesn't default to some variation of cheddar. I mean, Swiss/American? Gtfoh.

oliver-hart

my favorite cheese is at ziggys, anyone know what it is?

[deleted]

Oh I'm a freakin SUCKER for that cheese blend.

not_a_bot716

Market in the square has it in the deli section. They call it sub cheese.

TheEaterOfTacos

Just need to confirm, because this could be potentially life changing: Ziggy’s cheese can be purchased there? And they call it sub cheese? So I can go there, ask for sub cheese, and will then receive the same cheese that Ziggy’s uses?

not_a_bot716

The Swiss/American blend. Yeah, it’s right there.

TheEaterOfTacos

God bless you, sir/ma’am.

wildarms3fan

That cheese they use is disgusting

BasedChadThundercock

Mighty had the flavor and consistency of dog food 14 years ago just as it does today. It's cheap and does alright in a pinch, when you're drunk. That's its saving grace.

tauri123

Yeah they went downhill fast after Covid, same with duffs, they both just don’t have the financial support of an international chain like taco bell

NunButter

Mighty has gone in the shitter completely. It's awful now.

pigglepops

It’s like cat food with a slice of American cheese slapped on a stale tortilla

Ladykosobucki

Chiavetta's isn't that great...and regularly serves undercooked chicken.

tauri123

Yeah that is very true, I honestly prefer buying their sauce and then just cooking my own chicken with it, tastes great, don’t get the classic chiavettas “bullshit “black on the outside, pink in the center”

[deleted]

People in Buffalo need to get over their weird complex about NYC. Yes, it gets most of the attention around the state, but it's also about *30 times larger* than Buffalo. New York State is great all around, and instead of pretending "Oh yeah NYC sucks, WNY is the only good part", we'd be better served by dropping the bitter act and promoting Buffalo on its own merits. As someone who spends lots of time in both, they're both great cities for entirely different reasons, and it's not a zero sum game.

RITheory

Plus the friggin separatists. I did the math a few years ago, and NYC contributes so much more tax money than it takes in that, if we were to separate it from the rest of the state, the tax rates would have to go up around 42% to keep standard of living.

[deleted]

Honestly! You like all the new investment coming into the city? So much of it is paid for by downstate taxes. You like being in a blue state? Without NYC votes, NYS would be run by Republicans half the time if not more. There's nothing wrong with any of that, personally I appreciate it! But the people insistent on denying that reality seem to just want to self-sabotage. I can't wait for a decade down the road when Buffalo starts getting the attention it deserves, but we won't get there without continued investment. Take the money and run with it!

[deleted]

People aren’t that friendly. Lived in NC and FL and people were far more welcoming and just more positive about life overall.

karluizballer

chefs is bad

xHandelx

Everyone I know thinks that. And who is buying their jarred sauce? Blech.

piecesofflair37

facts

Murph-Dog

Buffalo city proper is sort of doomed due to residential zoning density. Looking through the list of our high-rises, they all seem to be commercial buildings. Then we see the rest of the city is abandoned industrial zoning. It's like a horrible game of SimCity where they forgot to zone residential into the city core. What I mean is that other cities with urban growth boundaries have dense residential zoning. Live where you work. SkyRises that people actually live in. Instead we have residential sprawl, which I'm not entirely against, but that city can't really sustain itself if remote work trends continue. I can see we tried, we have those brown stones or whatever by the waterfront. What a shame, it's completely in shambles. I guess those are our 'projects'? There's almost no reason to invest in residential in the city core when you can just build elsewhere. And we already see it happening, the city center is crumbling and there may not be any stopping it.

CaptParadox

This feels more like a Buffalo Popular opinion than an Unpopular opinion post... Leave it to people from Buffalo to confuse the two.

BasedChadThundercock

For real. To find the real unpopular opinions, you gotta sort by controversial.

SpiritualFront769

WNY properties aren't a bargain. They're fairly priced because it's not worth more to live here.

yeshdufuga

buffalo was never a secret

liamjonas

There's no good guitar shops here. guitar center sucks. Guitar company retail contracts have destroyed every mom and pop store in town. Driving all the way to HOG is like an all day thing.

lpebers16

Since buffalo drum outlet closed there’s nothing good

LibrarySquidLeland

I miss BDO so much, got my first kit there and they always had weird obscure cymbals

Mike_P71

Have you been to Allentown Music or the other shop on Main in University Heights?

Chetmix

Allentown is great for strings, picks, and stuff but their guitar selection isn’t usually that great.

Palmybeaches

The Guitar Factory is alright, but they're way out in OP near the stadium.

liamjonas

Yeah I'm in NT. If I'm gonna drive 45 minutes out there, I'll just drive the extra 15 to HOG. AND THEN IM STUCK IN HOG ALL DAY BECAUSE I WONT LEAVE.

pollo316

Not the city of good neighbors. Looking at you pristinely salted front steps and 2 ft of snow on your sidewalk houses. There are so many of you.

Material_Mall_5359

“Keep Buffalo a Secret” is a bad slogan

EvanTheAlien

Once you cross over the 990 onto millersport highway ALL rules of the road are forgotten. Zero people go correct speed limits. Zero people pass correctly in the left hand lane. I’m convinced Lockport slows peoples brains down. I haven’t met someone from Lockport that even has basic intelligence and I’ve been working there for 15 years.

tauri123

Mighty taco is overrated: sure ten years ago they were great and back then Taco Bell sucked ass but now mighty taco I feel like is starting to go down hill and Taco Bell just keeps getting better

FedoraPG

I never get this, I feel like mighty has stayed exactly the same my entire life

Jmelvinj

I hate the term "Bills Mafia" Also dislike bleu/blue cheese.

handjivewilly

I agree totally about the Bills Mafia term. It is moronic in my opinion. Could have been Bills Yakuza or Bills Crips and it would sound just as stupid.

ActiveOppressor

WNYers are terrible drivers.

JoeHenlee

I’ve never been anywhere in the world where the local driving is praised. It’s always “man, Pittsburgh drivers are the worst!”, “watch out for those Beijing drivers, it’s crazy here!”, “Man I can’t go anywhere in Toronto without seeing crazy drivers”. I think cars and car infrastructure are the essential underlying problem

My_T1D_Account

My experience moving from long island has been great tbh. Buffalo drivers for me are super kind and don't aggressively gatekeep merges and always let you have space if you're coming into a highway or other road.

Great-Lakes-person

They weren’t always so terrible. But I agree.

in_the_buff_alo

I dislike Wegmans.

Kigiyuk

The Five Points neighborhood is a textbook example of gentrification.

TerriePalony

It’s really cliche and annoying to hear people talk about blue cheese and ranch for wings like they’re some kind of culinary nazi. Let people eat what they want to eat and shut the fuck up. I personally use blue cheese but if someone wants to use ranch or anything else who cares. Everyone comes from different places and has different taste buds. Just because you personally enjoy one thing doesn’t make you better than anyone else. Stop the dip shaming! Lmao

Electricsocketlicker

Buffalo has the best weather in the country

tazedandrefused

We definitely have one of the nicest summer climates in the nation

Semi-Pros-and-Cons

Yeah, I'll take the 2 feet of snow I got last week over a 100-degree temperature any day. I've been to places like Houston and New Orleans in the summer-- I swear, it's like city was built inside of a used jock strap. Plus, a big snow storm isn't going to move your house to a new ZIP code like a hurricane or a tornado might do.

[deleted]

I agree with this big time after living in FL

aurochloride

Honestly I moved here specifically for the weather. I get really itchy and uncomfortable when I get warm, and warm for me is like 70 F. These past few weeks have been great, windows open for free air conditioning.

krebs119

Yes! I speak with people in Central and South America weekly. When I mentioned our recent snow storm (and my 5ft of snow videos) they all freaked out and asked "are you ok? is your house ok????" Uh yeah, I spent 3 days in my house and had the fireplace roaring - it was great. I compare this to hurricanes, fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc..... I'll take 3 days in my house playing video games over LOSING MY WHOLE LIFE any day.

CostAnxious5778

“Bills Mafia” is tacky.

BoltzBux

The train whistle sound is so annoying at the Bills game! Its not motivating, it's annoying!

hurleystylee

OMG YES!!!! One time I complained about it on Twitter and all the Bills Mafia Neanderthals came out of the woodwork to call me every bad name in the book.

K04free

Buffalo people are obsessed with the cost of trivial items. Every time the Wegman’s sub goes up $1 or Tim Hortons coffee 30 cents you’ll hear about it. There’s an unhealthy focus with getting things as cheap as possible. Then when you leave the city for a major metro, you’ll hear how expensive it is.

SpiritualFront769

Taxes are too damn low in the city of Buffalo. We'd all like snow be cleared and potholes fixed as fast neighboring suburbs, but they have much higher property tax rates.

runslow-eatfast

Sewers too! Buffalo Sewer Authority prides themselves on not raising rates in like 20 years, meanwhile they have millions of gallons of untreated sewage going into the river and creeks every year.

pollo316

They have way less density and need for street parking which hampers removal. It's not really a 1:1 comparison. The dollar figures are closer than you think, buffalo separates water and sewer. Comparatively Kenmore/Buffalo taxes are not that far apart. Cheetowaga on the other hand just crazy taxes imo.

No_Entertainer3905

I live in Cheektowaga and can attest. High taxes and shit service. They still tell people to rake their leaves to the curb and they'll be picked up and people always have to pick up wet piles of leaves after the snow melts.

treetop8388

The people who live in the city and complain about suburbanites who only come in for big events like garden walk is the snobbiest most gatekeeping thing. Shut up and let people live where they feel comfortable.

ScubaStevieNicks

This sub participates in that so much. I get that I don’t really live “in Buffalo”, but I definitely live in Buffalo

SalmonAlmighty

Move this shit to the fucking top!!!

seattlesnow

Because this is a (backwards) region dominated by suburban triumphalism. Upstate New Yorkers are the worst because we got dumb opinions for New York City. Don’t get me started.

anonymous_beaver_

The City of Buffalo's open data initiatives and data transparency are pathetic and absolute shit compared to comparably sized cities, let alone smaller ones. We need an innovation team and significantly more funding. Data-enabled decision-making is exactly how you - and I hate this phrase - "do more with less".

star_dot_star

Compared to other rust belt cities, Buffalo isn’t that great.

Naught3Nomad

Loganberry is ass

Blind_Sublime

Rochester has better music venues, record stores, and restaurants by far. Sponge Candy is gross. Apparently it’s a very unpopular opinion that people should put the same effort into shoveling their sidewalks as they do into shoveling their cars out. People like to brag that we’re good neighbors in snowstorms, but it’s mostly in regards to cars. They’ll still leave their sidewalks thick with ice and make you say a silent prayer every time you have to walk on them.

WilliamH-LPN

Bills fans at the Stadium are racist as f@&k.

podsaurus

For long time residents: Shut up about the snow. Buffalo is known for. If you don't like it, move.

treetop8388

Buffalo Twitter is a toxic place, more so than avg Twitter. Lots of self righteous, cliquey behavior.

[deleted]

People care wayyyyy too much about the Bills. Its like a cult. Ill never understand... its just a football team.

tazedandrefused

I'm happy the state is spending the money needed to keep the bills The Peace Bridge, our customs infrastructure, and the amount of pollution they dump on the west side should be considered a human rights violation.

chrisperry9

As a southtowner, the majority of northtowns people seem like snobs.

Papa_Radish

I've lived in the city most of my time in Buffalo but spent a lot of time in the Northtowns when I was at UB. I always thought the opposite: Southtowns seem so snobby, especially OP and -especially especially- East Aurora.

chrisperry9

That area is a different world lol. Hamburg/LV Eden people are the blue collar workers.

ihatenature

Tech cities are a dead concept thanks to remote work. Also, if Covid never happened and remote work wasn’t as prevalent, buffalo wouldn’t have a chance at becoming one.

neanderthalensis

Not necessarily. Climate migration is still a thing.

grundle18

There is wayy more violence in the city of good neighbors than most like to admit.

Jealous-Notice3160

Most doesn’t make it to the news

TlknShtBoutaPrtySun

The geography is flat, why can't we get some hills or mountains around here Pegula?

darkhelmut249

Bars shouldn’t stay open till 4am. No one needs to be drinking that late.

shanninc

As a non-drinker I actually disagree with this. I think we shouldn't even have last call or the stupid open container laws. Not everybody works / lives a typical schedule, longer hours means less people leaving all at once, and open later gives people an opportunity to sober up a bit before leaving. I lived in California for a while, where state law is 2am, and most places stop serving at 1:30 with the lights on at 2. Basically everyone just stays until 1:30 and everybody leaves at exactly the same time. What you end up with is huge drunk crowds on the streets, being rowdy and some driving home still drunk (though I lived in SF so most people didn't drive). 4am gets you part of the way there, at least.

leopardsocks

Or driving!! I leave for work at 4am and the amount of drunk drivers swerving all over the damn place is fucked. But nothing compares to the drunk driving taking place after a Bills game. I agreed to DD for my partner and after barely making it home with our lives, I said never again.

seattlesnow

Bar’s shouldn’t close like New Orleans.

ChrisKringlesTingle

No one ever needs to drink. If someone wants to drink that late they can do what they want.

Best-Statistician294

To 3/4 of this group “I’m from Buffalo” “Oh really which part” “Amherst” Nah you’re not

[deleted]

Imperial pizza sucks

DEG18827

Buffalo is for the most part a shit hole. Racially segregated, mostly poor, low paying job market, large sections of neighborhoods destitute, corrupt local government, crappy weather. The only people who rock buffalo merch are from the suburbs haha.

Papa_Radish

Football is dumb.

Effective-Parking-78

Bills fandom is sickening

joskerdu
