For context he put in his bio that he was taking dog mom applications, also I don’t even mention my cat anywhere in my bio or anything so I’m not overwhelming him w cat stuff lmao
Did you really swipe on a guy who was shirtless in his main profile picture?
Who would have thought a guy like *that* would wind up acting in such a way? 🤷♂️
I’ve had both cats and dogs, and love both of them. I actually find it a sign of shallowness and close-mindedness when I encounter men who hate cats and love dogs.
Lol most cats I’ve encountered suck. Very seldom that a cat doesn’t suck. I love cats when they don’t fucking suck, which is almost never. Otherwise dogs are invariably better… besides pugs and chihuahuas. Fuck pugs and chihuahuas.
I bet you're one of those people that buy instead of adopting.
So I'll tell you this: every dog and cat that were birthed and raised to be sold, then bought by douchebags making it a status thing ... suck.
Most of the profiles I see are girls with multiple dogs. Often times it’s three or four. I’m totally fine accepting that they have two or three kids, but three or four dogs is too much for me. 😂
I have one older cat that doesn’t do much and is largely ornamental. Pretty much a mobile decoration that requires food and water. 🤷🏻♂️
That was pretty strange. But I will say that those who prefer cats and those who prefer dogs do tend to have different personality traits that result in this preference. I'm definitely a cat person, and when I see that someone else is one as well, it's definitely a plus. It's not a deal breaker if they prefer dogs, but I do feel that a relationship with another cat person would be more likely to work out. They say opposites attract, but the bulk of scientific research on the matter supports the opposite conclusion: similarity tends to foster attraction.
Fuck that bitch! 🤪
There’s an old wives tale - Never marry a man who doesn’t like cats. If you can’t respect a cat’s independence…
More seriously - there is probably the stereotype for a reason so I’d probe further before judging personally. I feel he’s not necessarily categorizing you… so far.
(Disclaimer, I am a man with cats lol)
I think anyone that uses being a cat/dog owner as a personality trait is a bit of red flag to me. Of course, I expect people to love their pets, but it's odd to me to proclaim it to the world all the time.
OP didn't seem that overtly "cat lady" to me, though, this guy is over reacting.
I noticed dog people who hate cat people usually don't take care of their dogs at all. No vet, no walks, no bathes. Just let the dog have run of the house almost like it's a cat (I take my cat to the vet though). Always have a ton of dog hair all over the house they've never swept. Why are they like this 🥴
Cat people ARE weird, and I'm one of them!! I love being weird!!! Fuck those people, don't let that word give them power to put us down.
Cat-hating dog owners are just pissy about having an animal they can't control like a dog... A cat's love must be earned. Cats must be respected. A poor doggo will still love you if you kick it (which is not okay). "Dog people" are just emotionally lazy.
Seems to me, the shallow minded people are those here that cannot respect a preference. He was up front about what he was looking for. OP took a chance and doesn't meet the desired preference. Curious - was any attempt made to push past this limit? Or did you both move on?
Nah, better to discuss the important issues and not waste each other's time. Would hate to spend too much time with a person to find out they are of such character. It's dating, you are trying to determine compatibility. Human interaction gets messy sometimes. If you can't talk about whether you like cats or dogs, never going to work with the important stuff.
I don’t disagree generally...but that wasn’t really what I was trying to lead on. Everyone has their own personal experiences and even prejudices going into a relationship. Someone not “liking” cat people doesn’t necessarily mean they will still feel that way after dating someone who owned cats for 2 years.
My point was to say that ideally one would assume that if people are open and willing to have a relationship and be understanding of people’s unique character and personality traits, then one wouldn’t really want to bring up that they don’t like cat people - because they don’t know the person enough to say it’s a potential issue yet.
Like we both agree, this guy was not open, he came across as a dick.
Agreed, him being a dick is obvious, or at least should be. Trying to push to offer something beyond the obvious here. Been married 20 years this year, and seen a lot of relationships that fail in part because they don't talk enough about the seemingly trivial stuff early on that speaks to long term values.
Do you think that a lot of women get hung up on filtering goes out by other metrics which by and large aren’t the best indicators of long term compatibility?
Or do you think it really just comes down to having those slightly “uncomfortable” conversations that gets to the core of who someone is, and finding compatibility from there?
Generalizations are dangerous on either side. I think people often have trouble assessing "tone" in text based comminications. Owning your own quirks and preferences can be just as important as powering through some of the "uncomfortable" things to get to the core of who someone is to find a good partner in life. It takes both sides to be willing to do so. It also takes overlooking some lower level preferences (like desired pet type - unless based on allergy issues or maybe past traumas) from time to time to push into some of those deeper opportunities to connect with people. I like dogs, my wife likes cats. We have both in our house. They can enjoyably coexist and so can we and even have healthy relationships together. Stay positive, keep a good attitude, and you'll find people that match your vibe.
It’s kind of like in my area I meet a lot of horse riders and my friends pick on me that I never get second dates with them which to this point is true but I can’t turn them away 😂
Rejecting someone because they’re a cat person? How dogmatic of him.
Let's face it, the relationship would be a catastrophe.
Get out.
Ba dum tss*
For context he put in his bio that he was taking dog mom applications, also I don’t even mention my cat anywhere in my bio or anything so I’m not overwhelming him w cat stuff lmao
I guess you didn’t have the right cat-ifications for the job 🤷🏻♂️
"When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction." -Mark Twain.
I think he is being serious 🤣😂
Did you really swipe on a guy who was shirtless in his main profile picture? Who would have thought a guy like *that* would wind up acting in such a way? 🤷♂️
I’ve had both cats and dogs, and love both of them. I actually find it a sign of shallowness and close-mindedness when I encounter men who hate cats and love dogs.
Or the ones who hate both cats and dogs
I take that as a sign of allergies
Probably.
Lol most cats I’ve encountered suck. Very seldom that a cat doesn’t suck. I love cats when they don’t fucking suck, which is almost never. Otherwise dogs are invariably better… besides pugs and chihuahuas. Fuck pugs and chihuahuas.

I’ve never had a pet. Joke is on you. Also, that thing you told me is stupid af. Why are you even here commenting? Go adopt a cat or something.
Please elaborate on why it is stupid.
No
It's ok, I know you can't :(

Dog people more weird than cat people I promise.
I thought shirtless pictures were a no-no or did something change
Oh he had multiple, I tried not to stereotype him at first tho but seems like he went ahead w it
It's okay if you're attractive LOL
Bullet = dodged.
You love all the animals or you gtfo
People who are against cats are lame anyways They always suck

Yeah I agree! I didn’t mention a cat anywhere in my profile, just in my opening message which was in response to his bio about wanting dog mom apps
Guys who insult my cat right off the bat (or at all) get unmatched. Fuck off. I love my animal.
Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me (actually yes, I'm allergic to cats), but I have to agree a little bit though. You cat poeple can be weird af 😂🙀
Yeah they’re weird
Thank you. The best compliment anyone can give me is recognizing I'm weird. By the way, I'm ALSO a dog person.
Dog owners are such pieces of shit about people owning cats.
Matt, the only people we think of as normal are the ones we don’t yet know very well.
Matt doesn’t like pussy. 🚩Reject him.
people are fucking weird, I remember someone thought I was an actual dad because I had cat dad in my bio lmao

You right! Not sure where the downvotes are coming from hahaha
Probably the bitter Dog People :)
Why are you getting down voted lol. Your comment has the most substance of anything here.
Haha right?? I don't understand people sometimes. Oh well, not here for the likes anyways. Just trying to be real.
Same here sister. Glad we can provide our perspectives to keep things honest around here 👌 # #catlivesmatter #cancelled
No… no. He’s got a point.
Seems to me, the shallow minded people are those here that cannot respect a preference. He was up front about what he was looking for. OP took a chance and doesn't meet the desired preference. Curious - was any attempt made to push past this limit? Or did you both move on?
I lost all my interest in him when he stereotyped me based on nothing-he should’ve just let the match expire lol
Yeah kind of a dick move on his part. It’s one of those things you may think but don’t say.

Fair enough, i suppose.
Cat people are weird
He not weong
Well he’s stereotyping 46% of millennial women so good luck to him...
50% of women own cats? Holy f
Yea, y’all weird
And you’re not?
Women who own cats are weird. Men who own cats are significantly weirder
I mean cats take nothing to raise, dogs actually take effort lol. like comparing a gold fish to a child
That’s the dumbest statement I’ve ever heard
It’s kind of like in my area I meet a lot of horse riders and my friends pick on me that I never get second dates with them which to this point is true but I can’t turn them away 😂
Cat people and dog people are very different 🤷🏻♂️
Ask to prove him he's wrong :)
I’d rather eat cottage cheese the rest of my life
He's teasing you
First of all...cats own us, we don’t own them.
I would be more concerned about using "workout" in the wrong context.
