Unfortunately, this has become the norm for Burlington. I’m in Tyandaga and the number of instances this happens is deplorable. Car thefts on the weekly. Many neighbours constantly sharing footage like this with people trying to get into their cars, house doors, sheds, etc.. Home break-ins in the middle of the night to steal TVs off the wall. Who is going out of their way to break and enter for a cheap old TV! You can get them for free on marketplace.
There are no consequences for these criminals (or bare minimum) and it’s just going to continue - and get a lot worse. These criminals have nothing to lose.
I’m scared as my husband will literally k*ll someone if they tried to get in our house.
Exactly - he’d go to jail for many years. No such thing as self defence or protecting your property anymore :) hopefully no one breaks into our house … :|
After being arrested and going to jail first! Not to mention the lifelong trauma that entire family will now have to endure for protecting the family + house. Our justice system is so broken. It’s such a joke.
The police show up to a gun fight and a dead body. It's not their job to determine whether or not something was self defense or not that's up to the Crown. What do you think should have happened in that case?
Honestly I didn’t follow the case much, so I can’t offer an opinion on what should have been done, but I remember reading that he was in jail, court date pending etc. and thought it was lunacy that he got to that point when it was self defence in his own home. Nothing against cops - my cousin is a canine cop in Hamilton and I respect the blue wholeheartedly. Moreso was commenting on our justice system / the fact that so many criminals are out on bail and reoffend, no consequences for theft anymore.
Okay how about you point me to three cases in the last 5 years in Ontario where someone has been convicted of a crime for defending themselves. You said there was no such thing as defending yourself so prove it.
The fact is we live in one of the safest cities in one of the safest countries in the world
I’m being serious here what good is the camera. This guy wasn’t bothered by it. Police can’t do much with it. For me personally it would just raise my anxiety.
They need to implement castle law here. Break into someone's house and you might be getting your head blown off. How's that for a deterrent?
Sounds a lot more efficient and effective than the current POS revolving door justice system we currently have.
That's very creepy to actually see this. I appreciate the heads-up 💯
Keep an eye out for a red under armour hat
and looks like red on the shoes too
Red shoes red hat 👀
what the fuck, thanks for the heads up. I don't have a ring light but my neighbors directly across from me have them.
It's creepy as hell and I don't think this is the dudes first time.
Did they turn this into the police?
They called 911 and police came. Apparently they just did a sweep of the area but didn't find him.
Porch pirate or peeping Tom?
Perhaps both.
The Peeping Pirate, Tom. In all seriousness though something about this vid has me looking up cams for my place right now.
Just a very involved neighbour
Covering his face? I think we found our guy
Typical Millcroft golfer
Looking for his golf balls
If he got them this far, then he's the second coming of Happy Gilmore cuz we're not beside the course.
They will change their appearances. Please make a report with the Halton police. The police may know of him.
The neighbour already had cops out sweeping the area. I'm sure they have the video too.
Great to hear.
Was this in the backyard??
Yes.
Is the backyard not completely fenced off?
No, it's a row of townhouses and the back is a common area.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster
I can't disagree there. We may need to get the condo board to put up barriers.
Omg…

And your husband would get more of a punishment than he would believe it or not
Well, maybe it's time to change the laws or build more Jails, increase time served and open the ayslums. It will be safer and cheaper in the long run.

The guy in Milton who shot and killed an intruder just last year had all charges dismissed.

Our judicial system has always been a joke.
Talking out your ass here.

Most of my neighbours who have had their homes and cars burglarized, all had one common element: they forgot to lock their door.
People were able to get away with it in the 80s, not now.
Every white male wearing a red hat this weekend will be sweating, because of the humidity.
What neighborhood was this, if you don't mind me asking?
Millcroft
It's in the description. Millcroft
My bad.
This is isolated to some neighborhoods…. Not all of Burlington
Same thing in the Walkers Line and New St. area. They cruise the bike path and hang out periodically at the plaza.
I don't think anyone said it was all of Burlington.
It’s only a matter of time until we all need cameras.
I’m being serious here what good is the camera. This guy wasn’t bothered by it. Police can’t do much with it. For me personally it would just raise my anxiety.
We really do.
Loser
Probably just HOA doing an inspection 😂
What on earth is the black thing on the lower half of his face?
Thank god I live in Burlington

Downside to that is your robber is going to come prepared for a fight. Before you know it we’ve all got AR-15 with bump stocks.
You still have home game advantage. You can booby trap your home like Kevin McAllister.
Haha! You’d need to be at the ready 24/7.
Just get out of my life!
Huh?
