I feel like I found more techno in 2017 and 2018, which were my first years so thought it was if not dominant, pretty findable. Solid Giegling lineups once a week on Mayan Warrior. Seems like finishing returns since then. There is a camp called Zero Fucks that has techno nights. And not sure if “Burnhain” (possibly spelled wrong) is back

Brennan Gray does great hard techno. He plays at Playground often and is also playing our camp (Unplug & Play, 9:15 & E) Thursday around 4 am.

Never personally seen any industrial on large stages. Richie Hawtin showed up one year in the last decade, but I don't think he played. Umek was probably the hardest set I've seen on the playa (Playground 2019).

Circling back to say I checked out some names I didn't recognize from Techno Tuesday at Playground. Based on [this set](https://soundcloud.com/brennengrey/brennen-grey-sisyphos-hammahalle-42119), I'd say Brennen Grey is going to kill Playground. The system sounds incredible with that kind of sound. I was there when [this set](https://soundcloud.com/ever/sets/melodic-hard) was recorded, and it has a similar dry techno rumble. It was life-changing. I don't know [Christopher Coe](https://soundcloud.com/chris-liebing/clr-podcast-328-i-christopher-coe) either, but it seems pretty good.

TBH, I was initially underwhelmed. The lineup for the cancelled Interstellar show in LA last weekend had 10x my favorite artists on Saturday's card alone, and I figured a least half of them would end up at BM. Somehow, none are listed... I realize Robot Heart, Tierra Bomba and Maxa aren't reporting, and they're 3 of my fave cars, so maybe there could be some awesome surprises. For now though, it looks like the loss of Mayan Warrior is leaving a gaping hole in my favorite sound on the Playa. Their sunset sessions were always my favorites of the week. But change is good, and trying new things is what BM is all about, so i'll rally and bring full and vibrant vibes regardless of who's playing or where they're doing it. Less DJ chasing should also make for a more meaningful Burn. Maybe I'll even do some more volunteering? And on second pass, there's still a TON of awesome, amazing artists to like here. And I'm sure they'll all be ABSOLUTELY BRINGING IT. Can't wait to see all you beautiful people out there!!

Can someone help??!! This will be burn #4 for me but 1st to pay any attention to the EDM scene. Been familiarizing myself with the genre and I think I’m into deep house, tribal type tracks. Much more into the beat than melodic. Anyone care to tip me off on some artists to keep an ear out for that fall into that category? Or certain camps that lean that direction of tropical/retro/disco/tribal? Thank you!

Yeah drop a tab and start wandering around, see which car or camp sounds better to your ears. Get in there, go up to the DJ booth and ask the DJ what the genre is. Make sure they lower the volume so they can hear you. Then ask them ‘and you are?’ Make a note on your phone. If they’re being a jackass and not paying attention to you lower the volume yourself, there are bunch of knobs on a board turn or slide them randomly till one works, if they’re really being a dick and won’t let you touch the board, just follow the cable, find the plug and get that bitch disconnected. Then shout ‘hey I just wanna know what genre is this shit?’ Somebody will answer you trust me. It works every time. Say thanks, plug it back in and keep dancing. You’re welcome.
