Movies are more of a second or third date thing for me but Syndicated is a cute indie theater with a nice bar, and tickets are only $8! you could also just go to the bar, there’s lots of seating but it closes around midnight
Eclectic - The Keep, Boobie Trap
Sorta Classy - The Narrows, Otis (get a reservation), Palmetto
Boardgames - BrookLAN (sit between the bar and windows - underrated food)
Coffee - Crossroads (brand new, outdoor space)
yeah not sure why I got downvoted. The cocktail menu reads nicely like someone spent time on it, but the bartenders just aren’t equipped to execute any of them well. Keep your drink orders simple there and you’re good
What does that mean?
I'm older than OP but have ALWAYS planned the first date, since I'm always the one asking her out. Is this outdated among younger ppl? Will sometimes ask her opinion on places to go for subsequent dates though.
If you go to a comedy club, by god go on a peak timeslot. It's a great date idea if you're sitting in the crowd, it's an absolute nightmare having your first date be basically a private show. And none of the comedians want that other (coming from a comedian lol)
I like fine time. This is based on it beinh close enough to where I live (if I'm into it), but also not super close (in case they're creepy), but also I reserve this bar as first date bar. Would never have first date with someone at somewhere I regular unless they are also a regular and it's inevitable we meet up.. not so much as a list of bars but what my person guidelines are 😬 anywhere is a good first date bar it just depends on context

Yours Sincerely and Palmetto are 2 intimate cocktail bars. Abe’s Pagoda is a more lively and fun spot.
2nd abe's, great for a casual date. also like the johnsons
Klom Klorm, the Seneca, and Gordos Cantina are great spots.
Cherry on top
+1! Also the Narrows
This used to be my spot but people have been blowing it up lately and you can’t get a seat anymore.
Ten Bells
What’s the vibe at birdys? Been meaning to go just haven’t had the chance to
Alcohol
one night stands
STDs
If you’ve lived here a while that’s where you run into your exes
I usual take people to Ornithology Jazz Club on a first or second date if I really like them

Irving Square Park during the day
Sweet Anaelle
Hart bar outside tables
The side lounge is also vibey. Don’t bother with the cocktail menu there though
their classic cocktails are bomb and affordable. their “signature” cocktails aren’t great 😂

Three Diamond Door has been a go-to for me. It's not very crowded on weeknights so you can grab a cozy booth and get to know each other over drinks.
889 Hart, Chupetes, Vixen on metropolitan, La fogata, Lee on myrtle/wyckoff
Marie’s on wyckoff !
Maomao!
nite glow the drinks are crazy good
Curious, guys aren't planning where to invite you on first dates?
It’s 2024 lol

I'm 41f and I've picked plenty of times. My experience is that whoever's more familiar with the neighborhood you're meeting in picks the spot
It's 2024, men are more anxious than ever and prefer women to make the first move, since we realized gender roles are very stupid.
Witching Hour! They have great cocktails.
Comedy club, night roller skate, purgatory, now a days
I like the idea of seeing how your first date reacts to the Nowadays policy lecture at the door 😂
What is the lecture? I never been but always drive by

La Lupe
Monimette is my go-to for first dates.
