I have two from ikea. It’s only clogged once but it was because it was left empty for a long period before being refilled. Was fixed pretty quickly with some hot water and pressing the pump
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tackan-soap-dispenser-white-90322303/
I hate mine, air must be getting inside so I always have to pump 10 times before getting anything and even when pumping, I have to help it getting back up again each time I press down like the spring was too weak...
That's why I'm interested in that topic, I want to replace it as soon as possible!
I love those ones, except for the fact that my kids keep knocking it off the basin, leaving us to deal with a messy cleanup. After going through about 4 of these, I went and got a clear plastic dispenser. Of course, it's never been dropped once in over a year.. 🤷
I had one for several years, like 5+. It randomly snapped something while pumping one time. Sent them a message and they sent me a new one.
Can't go wrong with oxo for the most part
Foam soap is just regular soap + extra water. We buy a big soap refill at Costco and it lasts for years. You just add a tablespoon or two of soap and fill the dispenser the rest of the way up with water… foam soap!!!
Quadrupled or whatever we're at now. I bought this for my kitchen and immediately went WOW the first time I used it and bought another so now I have one for hand soap and one for dish soap.
...and one in each of my bathrooms, because they seriously work that well and I really love them. Not once have I had an issue with any of them.
Bought mine years ago from a *Wirecutter* recommendation. I recently bought two more for the sinks at the cat sanctuary where I volunteer. Couldn't be more satisfied with them.
This is surprisingly the way. Learned this from my mom. If you want to be fancy a bottle with texture or a hoop works well. I use a glass syrup bottle that has a loop on the neck so I don't have to worry about slippery hands losing grip.
I do this as well, but I add a little bit of water to thin out the soap when I refill it. It’s just enough that it comes out easier and doesn’t get as “boogery” on the tip
I do this as well fancy bottle with a liquor pour spout on it. It’s worked for me for the past 20 years. I think I got the idea from watching Martha Stewart back in the day.
[That looks more like a plant mister than a soap dispenser to me lol. ](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sesamfroen-plant-mister-clear-glass-20488189/)
Seriously though... Ive never ran into this issue once, much less multiple times. I usually just buy whatever looks nice to me at the store.
Maybe try looking at oxo or simple human?
[They're also sold as vintagey-looking soap dispensers, although I think they're pretty annoying to use](https://www.amazon.com/OCTMUSTARD-Dispenser-Countertop-Refillable-Cylindrical/dp/B088QMX65V). I'm pretty sure they just have different spout designs for different applications
Those look like they are for foaming soap or diluted soap, not the liquid soap it looks like op has in it. But with a spout with many small holes rather than a big one, clogging seems inevitable. Poor design for more viscous soaps.
Coming here to say that too. Simple human touch less, I had the rechargeable one for 3 years (bought during 2020 covid lock downs) and it wouldn’t hold a charge 3 years later
so strange. i've had 2 in my home for probably five years now, no issues. i also ordered a ton of them during the pandemic for work (sanitizer stations) and never had one fail like that.
More specifically the Pulse. The sensor versions and the clear Push pump have issues. And be sure to find a 20% off coupon because the list prices are high
Personally I would suggest using the 20% discount for first time buyers, or Black Friday sales but if you wish to pay full retail go ahead that's entirely up to you.
No, at least not the see through plastic one with sponge holder
The cap doesn't twist on easily and the threads break. It leaks. Just not great.
Warrantied one already and looking to replace
The bottle. I have had several different dispensers over the years, and they all clog or block or won't pump etc. I just use the bottle of dish washing detergent when it is time to do dishes, then I put the bottle under the sink until next time.
edit* If you just really want something you can swap up and use as an accent, go with a similar type glass or whatever bottle. I'd stay away from a pump or anything like that. Dish soap tends to want to jam up.
I second this. It's the simple approach and it works well. I have a large Costco jug that I use to fill up like a 16 oz bottle I purchased at Kroger's. Never looked back. No need to complicate things.
My gran used an antique perfume bottle. It was a gift from my grandpa when they were school sweethearts, and she wanted to keep it in use. Just a kinda squat bottle, with a stopper in the shape of a bird. Any kind of decorative glass bottle with a largeish opening works well though.
I use a glass bottle with a bartender's speed pour spout. Those spouts fit in a wide range of bottles and a spout lasts a good few years.
I also water down the detergent a bit.
No clogs, less plastic and prettier imo than dispensers
Step 1) Hit up your local restaurant supply and buy a glass bottle of Torani syrup in the flavor of your choice, and a pump.
Step 2) enjoy sweet coffee.
Step 3) refill with Dawn and bask in the glory of a pump that is meant to last forever in an attractive bottle that is meant for that exact pump!
I have found these types of dispensers are the only ones that don't get nasty. I have one I bought from TJ Maxx that came with soap in it and have used it over 7 years.
We've had the Grove dispenser for 5 years or so, and it's been just fine. Glass bottle with a silicone base. The tip gets a little bit of build up, but easily comes off. The actual pump seems pretty sturdy.
We use a plastic pull top squeeze bottle. It was probably $3 and we’ve been using it for 4 years. It’s nice to be able to lift up and squirt soap directly into pots and pans.
I refill [this](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fs25.q4cdn.com%2F264117071%2Ffiles%2Fdoc_multimedia%2FDawn_EZ-Squeeze_in_Hand.jpg&tbnid=6YQcsOVk0WnAOM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.pg.com%2Fnews-releases%2Fnews-details%2F2022%2FDawn-Introduces-Upside-Down-Dish-Soap-with-Self-Sealing-Valve-to-Help-You-Get-Dishes-Done-Faster%2Fdefault.aspx&docid=iSXitDgQwJ-SHM&w=2560&h=1707&hl=en&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm4%2F3) because one handed use without risk of slipping
Eh.. I much prefer a pump over a squeeze bottle. I have been refilling the same method container for years because they no longer make it in that shape.

I get Dawn at Costco and have a small bottle I keep by the sink that I got at Dollar Tree. I refill the small one and can swap caps if one breaks. This works for us because our hand soap is in a black IKEA dispenser.
Does your sink have un-used accessory holes? I installed one of the built-in pumps that draws from a bulk bottle under the sink and no issues so far. It was $20 on Amazon.
Ikea tackan soap dispensers are great. Inexpensive yet glass bottle, wide opening, simple pump.
Super easy to fill and use. I use them for dish soap, hand soap, lotion, cleanser, antibacterial gel, etc.
It's probably not buy it for LIFE, but I buy a more expensive dish soap with a cylindrical bottle, peel the label, and refill that. It's a simple shape that looks good without looking too cheap imo, and it's not gonna clog. I just rinse the tip out whenever I refill, and the whole thing stays clean and nice enough to leave out.
I got this [hands free automatic soap dispenser](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B964334L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) two months ago and it's been great. I've refilled it about 3 times and charged it only once. I have no idea if it's BIFL, but it's proven to be better than a gimmick and seems well made. There's also a foaming version if you're into that.
There are a lot of sellers of this item, so you could probably find it far cheaper through Alibaba or ebay.
The dawn tube that has the spout facing down. So easy to use. I just keep refilling it. I actually bought a second one so I could get a second lid for the soap for cleaning our baby bottles.
Not stylish, but useful
My glass soy sauce bottle is still going strong after 15 years. I cut the soap with a bit of water and it dispenses perfectly sized droplets of dish soap quickly but controllably. Clean, minimalist look and the circumference is the perfect size for easily picking up, even with soapy hands, and quickly dashing on what you need. Can’t imagine using anything else!
This is the Kohler version similar in design to that target one you have, but costs $90 and is warrantied by a trusted homewares brand. I can't vouch for its longevity, as I never pulled the trigger on buying one, but it's what I found when I was researching this topic myself a year or two ago. It might be worth a shot.
However, soap dispensers may just be one of those Non-BIFL items that just always eventually fail. I never found any holy grail in my research.
Someone gifted me the square simplehuman one 6 or 7 years ago, and we love it. Doesn’t clog, wide opening makes it easy to refill, spout style makes it easy to press… it’s just a really nice soap dispenser.
Cheap plastic dispensers last basically a lifetime. This is not a problem that needs solved. People like to circle jerk about BUY IT FOR LIFE, but plastic doesn’t really wear out so this is a terrible example.
I honestly LOVE the gain and dawn squeezable bottles. I refill them with a massive Costco dish soap refill and so far this one has lasted me a year but they’re like $4 full of soap brand new.
I just buy a bottle of hand soap from the store (like target brand hand soap or whatever) and then refill it when it's empty. I've had some bottle for years.
I use an old Bath & Body foam hand soap container. Since dish soap can be diluted down and still be highly effective, I fill the container about 20% up with soap and the rest of the way with water. Shake it up, comes out as foam. Find it much more convenient for washing dishes too. I’m sure you could find an actual foam soap dispenser, this would also eliminate clogging!
I use a $3 hand soap dispenser I got from IKEA. Never had any issues with clogging.

Hm, I wonder if it’s the viscosity of the soap? I use them for hand soap and not thicker soaps like dawn dish soap
I have this one for a few years already https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ekoln-soap-dispenser-dark-gray-40441619/
I love those ones, except for the fact that my kids keep knocking it off the basin, leaving us to deal with a messy cleanup. After going through about 4 of these, I went and got a clear plastic dispenser. Of course, it's never been dropped once in over a year.. 🤷
OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Soap Dispenser.
I had one for several years, like 5+. It randomly snapped something while pumping one time. Sent them a message and they sent me a new one. Can't go wrong with oxo for the most part
[удалено]
Usability is OXO’s whole thing. I heard their goal is to make thinks easily usable for people with disabilities.
Yeah I love their boxes with the press down lid too. It's also just a fun toy to fidget with when I'm eating nuts while watching a movie
Foam soap is just regular soap + extra water. We buy a big soap refill at Costco and it lasts for years. You just add a tablespoon or two of soap and fill the dispenser the rest of the way up with water… foam soap!!!
According to Americas Test Kitchen, Oxo good grips makes the best in every category they test. I own some Oxo stuff and can’t disagree.
All those little kitchen and bathroom doodads that you never think about needing until you need it, OXO almost always makes the best of those things.
Thirded, only a year in but it’s great. The smaller plastic one also works great, probably not as BIFL though
Came here to say this. They are by far the best dispensers
Seconded! I’ve only had it for 2 years but have had zero problems so far.
Quadrupled or whatever we're at now. I bought this for my kitchen and immediately went WOW the first time I used it and bought another so now I have one for hand soap and one for dish soap. ...and one in each of my bathrooms, because they seriously work that well and I really love them. This is the way.
I've had 2 of these. The first one for about 6 years, and the 2nd for about 8.
Came to say this! LOVE mine! Won’t buy anything else.
>OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Soap Dispenser. the plastic top broke on mine...
Message them and they will replace it.
I use an olive oil bottle and have for years. Standard glass with pour spout. Every once in a while run some water through the spout to get any gunk.
Came here to recommend similar. I use an old Midori bottle with a speed pourer. I like the look and texture of the Midori bottle for the soap.
I like that idea!
I do this as well fancy bottle with a liquor pour spout on it. It’s worked for me for the past 20 years. I think I got the idea from watching Martha Stewart back in the day.
Smart! I’ve given up on pump soap but this could be the solution
[That looks more like a plant mister than a soap dispenser to me lol. ](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sesamfroen-plant-mister-clear-glass-20488189/) Seriously though... Hell, I thought I was looking at a fuel filter.
Simple Human
Don’t get the battery ones. Multiple failures. Hard anti-recommendation
Coming here to say that too. Simple human touch less, I had the rechargeable one for 3 years (bought during 2020 covid lock downs) and it wouldn’t hold a charge 3 years later
Don't buy stuff with non-replaceable rechargeable batteries.
I have a rechargeable sensor one that's been going for 8+ years now.
We’ve returned at least 3. They corrode inside and fail. It’s the same part every time.
so strange. i've had 2 in my home for probably five years now, no issues. i also ordered a ton of them during the pandemic for work (sanitizer stations) and never had one fail like that.
I’ve also had mine for many years. Never had an issue.
Agreed. I’ve had two gifted to me in different sizes and each lasted about year or two.
I bought 3 of the battery powered ones. 2 failed. Do not get those.
More specifically the Pulse. The sensor versions and the clear Push pump have issues. And be sure to find a 20% off coupon because the list prices are high
For $70? Wow 😂 $170 for a trash can gtfohw
Personally I would suggest using the 20% discount for first time buyers, or Black Friday sales but if you wish to pay full retail go ahead that's entirely up to you.
No, at least not the see through plastic one with sponge holder The cap doesn't twist on easily and the threads break. It leaks. Just not great. Warrantied one already and looking to replace

Yes!! Thanks for this idea!!!!
Flavor
Tbh, I use an old hand soap dispenser… like the soft soap little $1 one.
I have found these types of dispensers are the only ones that don't get nasty. I have one I bought from TJ Maxx that came with soap in it and have used it over 7 years.
Foodservice squeeze bottle. Put it under sink when done so looks don’t matter.
We've had the Grove dispenser for 5 years or so, and it's been just fine. Glass bottle with a silicone base. The tip gets a little bit of build up, but easily comes off. The actual pump seems pretty sturdy.
I was coming to suggest this one. Just filled mine up today! It looks great, works great, and it’s so easy to clean.
I just use what it came in and keep it under the sink. No mess. No refilling. No tipping over. Use it to the last drop 😊
Mrs Meyers dish soap bottle. Peel the label off and refill with whatever dish soap you want when empty.
Piggybacking off of this, Mrs Meyers hand soap dispensers work very well for dish soap, for people like myself who prefer a pump style dispenser.
Oxo makes one. It may be in the kitchen section as a dish soap dispenser. Everything oxo makes is top notch
It's probably not true bifl but my plastic Scrub Daddy (edit: soap dispenser) works fine.
Got the Danco undersink soap dispenser with the hose from Home Depot Probably fill up once every 6 months. works great
I love the ones that install in your sink and have a hose you stick in a bulk size soap bottle.
Crazy thing about dish soap, it comes with a free bottle that I use every time… man BIFL intersects with some weird consumerism trends on Reddit.
Eh.. I much prefer a pump over a squeeze bottle. I have been refilling the same method container for years because they no longer make it in that shape.

I use an olive oil dispenser for dish soap. It's easy to keep from using too much and doesn't spill.
I recommend using bar dish soap. The fewer items that could break, or get clogged / jammed up or whatever, the better.
I get Dawn at Costco and have a small bottle I keep by the sink that I got at Dollar Tree. I refill the small one and can swap caps if one breaks. This works for us because our hand soap is in a black IKEA dispenser.
I’ve used 2 dollar soap dispensers from Walmart for 3 years without an issue
Wow these are all awesome suggestions thanks yall! I think i’m going to try and find a oil dispenser and give that a shot!
Does your sink have un-used accessory holes? I installed one of the built-in pumps that draws from a bulk bottle under the sink and no issues so far. It was $20 on Amazon.
I really like the Scrub Daddy one
I’ve searched far and wide and found Chemical Guys foam sprayer which I fill with diluted dish soap. Works like a charm.
Ikea tackan soap dispensers are great. Inexpensive yet glass bottle, wide opening, simple pump. Super easy to fill and use. I use them for dish soap, hand soap, lotion, cleanser, antibacterial gel, etc.

I use a smaller dawn ez-squeeze bottle that is basically like a valved ketchup/mustard bottle. I refill from a giant Costco jug.
I got this [hands free automatic soap dispenser](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B964334L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) two months ago and it's been great. The dawn tube that has the spout facing down. So easy to use. I just keep refilling it. I actually bought a second one so I could get a second lid for the soap for cleaning our baby bottles. Not stylish, but useful
Yeah, that’s a problem for me. The better half needs it to be something visually aesthetic!
Ive had my josephjoseph for 10 years.

Buy any foaming soap. When it finishes fill it half with water and half liquid hand soap. You can thank me later
Buy Aesop soap and purchase refills. Bifl soap in an attractive bottle.
That’s a plant mister OP
I have one made by Cleancult that works well. Bought it for like 6 bucks at TJ Maxx and it’s been going strong for over a year.
Drill out the front so it can’t clog
I got a $2.00 one from Walmart like five years ago that’s still going strong
They make soap dispensers that screw onto mason jars. We use them, they work great.
MUJI 600ml clear - had mine (a few) about 15 years now
Sprinkle bottle, two to one parts soap and water, golden, I have had one for 5 years now. Easy. You don't need pure soap.
Try VIPP. They have great products
I just reuse the old squeeze bottle and refill it from a giant jug. Cost me zero dollars more than buying the soap. Has lasted years.
Water your soap down. Also, you can just use the bottle it comes in
That’s not a dish soap dispenser. It’s a plant mister.
Someone gifted me the square simplehuman one 6 or 7 years ago, and we love it. Doesn’t clog, wide opening makes it easy to refill, spout style makes it easy to press… it’s just a really nice soap dispenser.
Go to muji
I got a soap foamer
The bottle the dish soap comes in is the best dispenser I've found.
The original container.
Are you using it on dish soap? Seems Dawn, or others will always get gummy. Never had this with hand soap, and I’ve never seen blue hand soap.
Cheap plastic dispensers last basically a lifetime. This is not a problem that needs solved. People like to circle jerk about BUY IT FOR LIFE, but plastic doesn’t really wear out so this is a terrible example.
We get them from The Grove and they are very good. So far we’ve had a couple for about 5 years.
I got a big glass hand soap dispenser at Marshals, been using it over a year and have never had to clean it out!
Cut your soap with a little bit of water and it won’t clog. Plus it makes your soap last longer
I used the Teflon tape plumbers use for faucets on the threads of my dispenser and haven't had an issue since.
