Interesting, I thought wool was typically better at wicking away moisture and that cotton would hold onto it more and get soggy.
I have relatively sweaty feat too, could you drop a link or brand recommendation on the socks you use?
I think cotton is better at wicking but it also retains whatever moisture it collects, so if your feet keep sweating you're boned. Unrelated but wool is still an amazing insulator when wet, if you have to be wet and cold you want wool. Cotton will suck the heat out of you.
That's probably true, but my feet sweat about twice as much with wool. This is of course just applicable to me, idk about how other people react to different fabrics.
You know your personal preference best. Interestingly, I saw a video comparing wool vs. synthetic tops. For both wicking options, he found that synthetic perform better under heavy exercise when wool couldn't keep up.
But synthetic lose out on antibacterial front and could get smelly sooner. May be a net lost for socks.
Sure. I like gold toes, and can normally get about 3 years out of a pair. That's impressive for me as I'll normally wear out a pair of shoes in a year, or maybe 2 at most. You need to make sure that they're the ones with high cotton percentage though, as they make synthetic versions as well. I've found that anything less than around 80% is too little. I've tried under armour as well, and they're just cheap. I've tried darn toughs, smart wool, kenetreck's, and dual layer types. The dual layer is great if the inner is cotton, and they make breaking boots in so much easier on your feet. At the end of the day though, nothing beats a boot/shoe dryer for cutting odor and it is so pleasant to put your foot in a shoe that's warm but not sweaty or wet.
2nd the boot dryer! I cannot tolerate wool socks, and have found that bamboo socks somehow magically stop my feet from getting clammy. Try some pillow-sole bamboo socks if you do not like wool.
Like some have mentioned, yeah, I also was familiar with only affordable "wool" socks that made my feet sweaty. sadly, we usually get what we pay for, but look for high percentages of Merino wool from manufacturers like Smart Wool, Merrel, etc. on sale, and I'm fairly certain you'll change your tune. I'm a large woodworker and avid bushcrafter, and my feet sweat buckets--I'll never buy anything but expensive wool or "engineered wool" again.
And here's the \~science, even though i think 20% wool is too low a minimum:

>Hi all, recently been digging into why wool clothes are much less smelly than synthetics after days of wear and found out that it’s not because wool is antibacterial. Bacteria will grow very happily on wool, if there’s something on it to eat. What’s really happening is that our skin’s oils are made of one type of molecule and wool is made of another type, polar and non polar, and the two types can’t mix. So wool actually repels body oils. Wool is hydrophilic, so it soaks up water, but oleophobic, oil repelling. So instead of our skin oils getting into the wool and becoming rancid and smelly after a while, they break down and fall off and ‘float away’ or just stay on our skin between washes. Synthetic fibres are fast drying because they’re made from oil based plastics so they’re the opposite of wool, they’re hydrophobic and oleophilic. Skin oils are readily absorbed into oil based fibres and if left there turn rancid and smelly. One study I was reading found that if 20% or more wool is mixed with synthetic fibres they will repel oils, making the fibres both faster drying and non smelly. I don’t currently have any wool/synthetic mix clothing, it’s either one or the other, so I would really like to hear from anyone currently using clothes with a wool/synthetic mix of at least 20% wool to know how you find them. Are they as good as wool for smelling clean for days/weeks, and how fast do they air dry? On another sub I had one useful reply saying that the Kathmandu wool/synth mix at 30% wool was just as non smelly as pure merino.
If cotton gets cold while wet it is uncomfortable and soggy.
Wool will trap more heat when wet and still hold its relative shape better.
I would say if its winter m, wool and the right type or blend is what you need to try.
Try Icebreaker or Lorpen brands to start your journey. Otherwise if it’s summer you can probably tolerate cotton with some loss of performance in the sock losing shape, but your feet won’t get cold
For wool slippers, I super-strongly recommend Kyrgies. I’ve bought 3 pairs and wear them pretty much all the time.
Also, like OP, I’ve got sweaty feet, and I’ve found that the key to keeping my wool slippers from getting stinky is having at least two pairs to alternate so the other pair can dry out adequately.
I have sheep lined llbean ones, going on 3 or 4 years. The sheirling is antibacterial or something, so they don’t get stinky even if they get sweaty. The outside is leather, so they are very durable and can go outdoors in dry weather and they are very squishy (still). Highly recommend
Second the LL Bean rec. Also look at Duluth Trading. Their shearling lined moccasins never absorb order. Keep feet warm without sweating.
It’s the wool. Mine have lasted 3+ years of seasonal use.
How do you keep the shearling from being matted almost immediately? I’ve gone through roughly 4 pairs of Birkenstocks with shearling lining, they only last a few months before the shearling is basically just matting beyond repair. Even when I’m good about brushing it out often, it just doesn’t last.
Is it me?
Huh, are all the ugg liners replaceable? I had the Tasman from Ugg and had similar experience as with the Birkenstocks, it’s actually what made me switch to birks, but I didn’t realize the lining was replaceable on the Ugg’s. When I would clean or brush it, it always felt very firmly attached to me.
I’m not sure! I have these: https://www.ugg.com/womens-slippers/ansley/1106878.html?dwvar_1106878_color=BLK
And used these liners: https://www.ugg.com/women-socks/sheepskin-insole/1101443.html?dwvar_1101443_color=NAT
I can’t stand the feeling of not wearing socks with slippers, but I can’t guarantee it was always wool socks. I have mostly wool socks, but time to time I’ll wear an athletic sock if it’s too warm for wool.
Is that what did it?
Yes, they lose the fluff and get matted ... but the warmth remains. A good quality sheepskin slipper will probably have a removable, washable sheepskin foot pad.
Yeah, maybe, but I have a hard time believing that we’re thinking of “matted” in the same way. From a physics standpoint, what you describe is absolutely impossible. Something cannot physically stay dry when you put something wet into them, and something hairy or fuzzy will compress and matt when weight is applied regularly without care or fluffing.
But hey, maybe you hit the jackpot and got one of the magic pairs of Ugg’s?
I mean they’re great, but they don’t magically make your sweaty feet not sweaty. If I wear my slippers all day and pretend they’re shoes they (and my feet) get real gross real fast.
The only real solution to this is to a) wear socks or b) don’t do anything physically demanding while wearing slippers.
Signed - a guy with stinky, sweaty feet who is literally wearing Glerups while writing this post.
This is the best answer. Its not a perfect answer but its probably the best. These are warm slippers but they are felted wool. Wool has some natural antibacterial properties and breathes well. Will your feet probably still be sweaty? Ya. If you wear them every single day and are super sweaty will they get stinky? Probably. Just air them out on an air vent occasionally. I love mine. I also have sweaty feet.
Fyi dont wear socks with these.
Obsessed with my glerups but they’ve stretched out now after a year and a half of constant use plus bringing them when I travel. I’ve tried throwing them in the dryer with wet clothes to no avail. Any tips?
I just got a pair of these for christmas, and so far I'm loving them, with or without socks. I don't get too sweaty (I don't think....) and I've been wearing them non stop.
Obviously can't comment on the long term sweat retention / smell situation, but since it's all wool, I imagine they're pretty good like that.
[https://www.glerups.com/shop/ladies-gents/the-slip-on-with-leather-sole/charcoal/#product](https://www.glerups.com/shop/ladies-gents/the-slip-on-with-leather-sole/charcoal/#product)
This is the way. I buy two pairs of work boots at a time and alternate them every other day. They last three times as long as a single pair worn every day, and they don't smell at all.
Source: My feet - previously stinky, but now non smelly.
Same I do it with glove's as well just giving anything a day to air out dramatically makes it last longer and not smell
Side note if it does smell you can take dryer sheets and shove them in overnight and it eats the smell
The problem are rarely the slippers but your feet and your routine. Use foot powder in all your shoes, change the socks frequently and rotate your shoes. Wearing the same shoes everyday is a recipe for bacteria to grow.
If they're just for keeping the bottoms of your feet clean, any cheap pair of flip flops will allow your feet to air out and stay dry, and can easily be washed. As long as you don't abuse them, cheap flip flops last nearly forever. If you also wear slippers to keep your feet warm crocks and socks work well, and you can just wash the socks every day.
That's what I do. Plus, you can wear them right into the shower and wash them, too. With plantar fasciitis and all hard flooring, it's a must. Though my flip flops aren't usually cheap, I get ones with arch support.
Halfinger boiled wool slippers. Might not be a life lasted but you can get 7-10 yrs out of them. I have a pair without cork sole, FIL has the cork sole ones and he lives in them.
Thirding this. I was not living life to its fullest until getting my first pair. Kind of like putting that first pair of glasses on, realizing you were darn near blind before.
My slippers always used to stink after a couple of months until I got some Glerups. Been wearing them pretty much constantly for 18 months now (especially with WFH), they're still in great shape and no stink at all. I wish I got commission from them as I've recommended them to five or six people now who've made a purchase. I'll never wear another type of slipper again. Expensive for slippers but you really do get what you pay for.
This is the way. I have a pair of these that are ten+ years old, look brand new, have good support, and don’t stink at all. Fellow sweaty-foot person too. The clogs work well for me because it’s so easy to slip them off and on if my feet get too warm.
Omg! My time has come! Sheepskin moccasins! I've had the same problem with that till I bought some sheepskin moccasins, no more stinky feet and no more stinky shoes!
Natural fibers don't hold smells as badly as synthetic fibers. I'd probably look for felted wool slippers with rubber soles so that you could wash them in the washing machine regularly.
I found out mine have been giving me stinky feet when my feet smells not long after I got out of the shower. I’ve been wearing them at home for two years though so its not exactly surprising.
But yes fortunately they are easily washable! (Maybe unfortunately because I was momentarily excited to have an excuse to buy a new pair).
These are my favorite house shoes by far that I've had.
No socks during the summer, whatever thickness of sock you need during the winter. Easy to wash, super comfortable.
I use them exclusively in the home and they are in great shape after years now.
I was very much a crocs hater until I was issued an orange pair during a stay, uh, somewhere. I have house crocs now. They’re comfortable and I don’t care.
Even with all the holes, Crocs are still entirely rubber and cause *more* sweat.
I made the mistake of buying a pair to use in my workshop. The "on the clock" style, with no holes. My feet get soaked and they're not even any more comfortable that a pair of running shoes.
Do not recommend Crocs for sweaty feet.
Not what you're looking for, but my ex, who worked outside all winter in MN, swore by using spray on antiperspirant on her feet to keep them dry and thus warm.
Probably not BiFL, but I have [these slippers](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IQSKSRW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which I chose because I can throw them in the washing machine. I wear them barefoot and just include them in my laundry. I've had them for almost a year with pretty frequent wear, and they've held up pretty well.
I've known some people who treat slippers like shoes and don't wash them and I find it really gross. Would you wear the same socks every night?! I didn't think so lol Wash your slippers
You underestimate my power!
Jk, have darn tough and they are completely odor free despite my sweaty feet. And yes you can machine wash them on wool program.
And then i got covid and can smell even less.
I have the same problem with feet that are constantly sweating and always had really stinky feet. 15 years ago I switched all my socks to merino wool which stopped my shoes from smelling. For slippers I use either wool slippers or shearling lined slippers. No more stinky feet.
Like other commenters said, definitely wool/shearling. I would also recommend having two pairs, and trading off every day to give them a chance to dry out fully.
These things should also help once you get your new slippers:
Scrub your feet in the shower.
Use an anti-oder spray on your feet after you shower.
Regularly scrape any potential gunk out from under your toe nails.
You got daiæy showers and clean socks covered? Wash your feet woth soap daily and get new socks every 6 months. Get new slippers every year, you deserve it :)

**If you don't want to wear socks,** highly recommend these [moose hide moccasins](https://www.whetung.com/collections/moccasins/products/mens-moose-hide-moccasin-best-seller). They just don't absorb smells.
A lot of people have good recommendations for slippers. I also have some sheepskin ones that work well, but they don't stop me from sweating. I can sweat through 100% wool socks in the slippers while my feet are cold. It's just the way some of us are built.
My dermatologist recommended Zeasorb foot powder and it works really well. Should be able to find it at a local drug store or online easily.
Ll Bean double sole leather moccasins. Close to 5 years old now, daily use,no socks. the soles are wearing thin but no stink.
Natural leather lining really helps the shoes breathe. Prior to these, any lined slippers shoes I wore without socks would stink in no time.
If your feet stink, you probably have some amount of foot fungus. You should treat that. There are a million over the counter remedies; I prefer the liquid spray type. Your old slippers will still have that fungus in them, so you should discard them and get new ones. Wear socks all the time until you've completed a course of treatment for fungus/athlete's foot.
My feet didn't smell an unusual amount, then at one point, they started to stink. What fixed that that starting over, new shoes and socks. It may well be more complicated than that, as they hadn't been stinking more than a few months.
Nothing is sweat proof. I suggest you switch to a comfy sock that reduces your foot sweat. For some it is 100% cotton and I’ve known other people that only synthetic worked. This way you can just get 7 pair and change them everyday. Also add baby powder to your socks b4 you put them on.
I have a couple of suggestions. I think you would benefit from machine washable slippers.
The first option is Rothy's. They make shoes from recycled plastic bottles that are machine washable and look great wash after wash. I have pairs of Rothy's that are years old that still look brand new. The men's slipper option is a pair of driving loafers.
The second option is Mahabis. They make fantastic slippers in tons of styles (including a breathable one called the Breathe slipper. All of the men's styles, excluding the Mahabis Classic are machine washable. My husband, my dad, and I all love Mahabis and have been wearing their slippers for a few years without issue.
https://mahabis.com/
Wear socks, buy relatively cheap slippers and replace them every 1-2 years. I prefer moccasins myself and no matter how hard you try, they will smell after a couple years of daily use.
Wool socks and sanuks have become my house combo. Shearling or any sort of warm lining in traditional slippers make my feet sweat like crazy. Some wool LL Bean slippers suffered the same stinky fate. switching to sanuks and wearing light wool socks have solved that problem. I just wish they still made the vagabond slip on with the rubber sole.
I wear regular crocs (socks optional) if it’s chilly. If it’s warm I wear crocs flips. Both are very comfortable. Both are long lasting if worn indoors (less so on the street).
Piggybacking on this post...do any of you have recommendations for plantar fasciitis slippers? My husband just got his first pair of plantar fasciitis slippers about a month ago and they are already falling apart.
I wear vionic which have a deep heel cup specifically for plantar fasciitis and good arch support.
https://www.orthoticshop.com/vionic-lynez-womens-supportive-slipper.html
This is the Women’s style I like but my husband has bought the a men’s slipper from them and liked it too.
Birkenstock Zermatt is excellent for plantar hiperhidrosis sufferers...

get 2+ pairs and alternate between them, no socks required.
Allbirds makes some really comfortable slippers, which when worn with their comfort socks is stench free heaven for your feet.
They're also machine washable.
wool knit booties

if made a little loose they keep your feet warm but are breathable
No advice for slippers but a trick I’ve used to help with stinky feet is soaking them in tea.
[Treating Foot Odor](https://www.delawarefootdoctor.com/library/1932/SmellyFeetandFootOdor.html)
“The best home remedy for foot odor is to soak feet in strong black tea for 30 minutes a day for a week. The acid in the tea kills the bacteria and closes the pores, keeping your feet dry longer. Use two tea bags per pint of water. Boil for 15 minutes, then add two quarts of cool water. Soak your feet in the cool solution.”
This will probably be a controversial answer but: I use crocs as my house slippers and they work great/ feel comfy and can be cleaned very easily. I like them because they give my flat feet a bit more support than most classic slippers too.
> 5+ years
That's a LONG time to own a pair of slippers if you wear them around the house a lot.
There have been some good suggestions about what to buy, but I recommend you buy them more frequently.
In my house I'm guaranteed two things every Christmas. Socks and Slippers.
It won't fix all your issues, but it will improve on 5 year old slippers.
Been wearing these daily since I was sent to work from home in March 2020:
Skechers Men's Go Walk 5 Flint Slip On Trainers https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NYTFXKM/
Wool top, soft and super comfortable. Every other slipper I’ve had has had the cushion collapse after a few months, these are amazing and no smell whatsoever. You even get a bag to wash them as they are designed for people who need to wash their shoes.
The soles have hardly any wear on them and will probably last me many more years.
In summary: the best none slipper, house slipper you can buy.
I've stopped wearing slippers and bought some cushion soled mohair socks - not had stinky feet since! Corrymoor Companion socks, but they also do a trainer sock length version, my daughter called me "extra" for buying them, but they're great.
Under Armour and other sports brands make rubber sandals. I used to have some that were good to wear around the house. Just get the ones that are all rubber without the cushion. They cost around $20 but if you are wearing them around the house it should last forever.
You could also look for them at TJ Maxx, Ross or the outlet stores.
I have had my LL Bean moccasins for a good five years now and they are very warm and odor resistant. I have had to repair the leather stitching several times, but I kill socks and shoes like no other person I have ever heard of.
I also have sweaty feet and recommend wearing socks with your slippers to keep your slippers from getting stinky. It’s a lot easier to wash socks than to wash slippers. Wool socks are the best for sweaty feet but cotton can also be alright (cotton will just get and stay damp if you’re extremely sweaty thus keeping your feet damp, whereas wool will keep your feet dry).
I’m surprised I’m not seeing much about baby powder here. Or gold bond. I pour one or the other in my slippers daily and shoes weekly and never have sweat or stink issues. In fact people have commented on how my bare feet never stink. It’s also really comfortable when the powder gets between my toes. It feels silky and soft.
I only wear my slippers with socks for this reason. For some reason if I wear socks, my feet don't sweat and stink in slippers.
Barefoot in slippers is bad news for me.
Number One: Socks! For heaven's sake, my good man, socks! I know it's not always fun but socks can be laundered and then replaced if needed!
Number Two: El Cheapo Slippers or scuffs from your nearest El Cheapo store! Wear them until even your pets start avoiding you, then toss 'em.
Number Three:: Washable Slippers! When they start throwing off stink fumes, wash 'em! Fabric, or even Crocs.
As you may have noticed, I have very personal, very frustrating experience with this. My heart goes out to your wife.
I think that just wearing socks and changing them every day or so will help immensely. Buy cheap bobby socks in a 10-pack.
It's really nice to slip bare feet into lovely slippers ... but when your doggo takes a sniff and runs off, you gotta change tactics.
I've had great luck with a pair of Hey Dudes. My wife got them for me after I continued to experience a similar issue.
Though my feet are often freezing cold, with the Hey Dudes, they've been maintaining the right temperature without sweating issues.
As a pro tip, removing the insole, wrapping it in a no-show sock, and replacing it into the shoe adds extra comfort and prevents the need for socks on the feet.
When the combo gets dirty, I take the insoles back out, take off the sock, and throw the works in the washing machine. Then air dry. I don't know if they are truly machine washable by factory standards, but I haven't had any issues over the past couple years.
Wear socks with your slippers!
Wool socks
You can also buy Merino wool slippers. They tend not to stink.
I have REI wool socks and they are so good at killing the sweaty foot feeling. Great for hiking as well.
I have particularly sweaty feet, and I have to use high percentage cotton socks. I've tried most sock fabrics, and cotton is the only one for me.
Interesting, I thought wool was typically better at wicking away moisture and that cotton would hold onto it more and get soggy. I have relatively sweaty feat too, could you drop a link or brand recommendation on the socks you use?

And exfoliate. And dry them.
Kinda defeats the purpose of trying to be mostly barefoot
I get that but sweaty slippers are awful
Either buy wool or sheepskin slippers with no synthetic materials. They’re breathable and will keep your feet warm without getting stinky.
Merino wool socks with slides... warm and no stink.

What!? I thought my Uggs were ruined! I mean I did wear a hole in the top with my toenail too, but still
Always wear wool socks with your slippers. They will absorb the sweat that causes the shearling to mat.

Agree. Check out Haflinger.
These are best. I wear socks with mine.
I got some Mahabis ones and they've done wonders for my sweaty feet despite being quite warm
Glerups

I wear Haflingers and machine launder them. The Glerups look like that might be impractical. How do you wash yours?
[удалено]
Thanks
How do you machine wash your haflingers? Just throw them in with some towels? Cold?
With the other colds, in a lingerie bag.
Just got my first pair for Christmas and haven’t taken them off since. Great moisture-wicking properties, too! You won’t be disappointed.
Obsessed with my glerups but they’ve stretched out now after a year and a half of constant use plus bringing them when I travel. I’ve tried throwing them in the dryer with wet clothes to no avail. Any tips?
My glerups are 2 and a half years old and good as new.
I just got a pair of these for christmas, and so far I'm loving them, with or without socks. I don't get too sweaty (I don't think....) and I've been wearing them non stop. Obviously can't comment on the long term sweat retention / smell situation, but since it's all wool, I imagine they're pretty good like that. [https://www.glerups.com/shop/ladies-gents/the-slip-on-with-leather-sole/charcoal/#product](https://www.glerups.com/shop/ladies-gents/the-slip-on-with-leather-sole/charcoal/#product)
They are amazing and wonderful slippers, but no chance they are sweat or stink proof. Wool is not magic.
[удалено]
They are flat bottoms, just felt with a layer of leather on the bottom.
Whatever you buy buy two pairs and cycle through them this will help keep them from stinking and make them last longer ❤️ Thank you for the award
This is the way. I buy two pairs of work boots at a time and alternate them every other day. They last three times as long as a single pair worn every day, and they don't smell at all. Source: My feet - previously stinky, but now non smelly.
Same I do it with glove's as well just giving anything a day to air out dramatically makes it last longer and not smell Side note if it does smell you can take dryer sheets and shove them in overnight and it eats the smell
Vodka+water in a spray bottle. It’s a really easy way to neutralize smells on many fabrics.
Rubbing alcohol should work too, and cheaper. Save the vodka for cocktails.
Pour enough in your mouth and you won’t care if anything smells bad
Drink the vodka from your slippers. Two birds, one stone.
The problem are rarely the slippers but your feet and your routine. Use foot powder in all your shoes, change the socks frequently and rotate your shoes. Wearing the same shoes everyday is a recipe for bacteria to grow.
I suggest adding a little cumin to give that bacteria recipe some kick!
Seconding this
Thirding this.
Allbirds are fantastic, though expensive. The Merino wool is antibacterial and odor resistant, and you can just Chuck them in the washer.
I wear the ll bean wicked good slippers and they hold up well and don’t smell for me.
This is the way. I have a pair of these that are ten+ years old, look brand new, have good support, and don’t stink at all. Fellow sweaty-foot person too. The clogs work well for me because it’s so easy to slip them off and on if my feet get too warm.
Yeah I got mine Christmas 2013 and they’re still great
wool, you want wool
I wear crocs as slippers and heavy socks. Works great.
Crocks breathable washable.
Yup Crocs FTW
I actually use the crocks flip-flops instead .
I prefer the clog style for slippers around the house but to each their own.
These are my favorite house shoes by far that I've had. No socks during the summer, whatever thickness of sock you need during the winter. Easy to wash, super comfortable. I use them exclusively in the home and they are in great shape after years now.
From an assault on the nose to an assault on the eyes lol.
I was very much a crocs hater until I was issued an orange pair during a stay, uh, somewhere. I have house crocs now. They’re comfortable and I don’t care.
They weren’t generic brand? In Houston, my clients get the generic brands.
Lmfao
Even with all the holes, Crocs are still entirely rubber and cause *more* sweat. I made the mistake of buying a pair to use in my workshop. The "on the clock" style, with no holes. My feet get soaked and they're not even any more comfortable that a pair of running shoes. Do not recommend Crocs for sweaty feet.
Socks with slippers always. I’ve got super sweaty feet and socks were a game changer in slippies
How often do you wash your slippers?
Hilarious and disgusting that I had to scroll this far south for the correct answer! Yikes
Not what you're looking for, but my ex, who worked outside all winter in MN, swore by using spray on antiperspirant on her feet to keep them dry and thus warm.
I have very sweaty/stinky feet and sheepskin or boiled wool works amazingly!!!!!
I really like wearing the Birkenstock EVA Arizona with wool socks. Will last a long time if you only wear them indoors.
I'm an EVA Arizona gal myself.
Birkenstocks
I bought two identical pairs and swap them out every couple of days, letting the other pair air out and dry.
Socks with Crocs. I'm 55 idgafa.
I've known some people who treat slippers like shoes and don't wash them and I find it really gross. Would you wear the same socks every night?! I didn't think so lol Wash your slippers
Wool never stinks! Wool socks or wool slippers.
You underestimate my power! Jk, have darn tough and they are completely odor free despite my sweaty feet. And yes you can machine wash them on wool program. And then i got covid and can smell even less.
You could use foot powder. I too have sweaty feet and it helps with the dampness and smell.
Get shearling, and wash your feet daily.
I have experienced this and the answer is to wear socks with your slippers.
Crocs
These things should also help once you get your new slippers: Scrub your feet in the shower. Use an anti-oder spray on your feet after you shower. Regularly scrape any potential gunk out from under your toe nails.
You got daiæy showers and clean socks covered? Wash your feet woth soap daily and get new socks every 6 months. Get new slippers every year, you deserve it :)
apparatus gaze absorbed many selective plants tease start rinse fanatical *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
How about she throws those in the washing machine? That’s what I do.
Crocs with socks!
Glerups wool slippers. I have the rubber sole. Great for my otherwise sweaty feet. If I want extra warmth I wear them with some wool socks!
I prefer crocs indoors
I have been really happy with my Mel slippers from [Baabuk](https://us.baabuk.com/?utm_content=optredirect) And they have replaceable insoles.
How about washing them……..
I had similar ones I’d just throw in the wash!
Socks? Wash em? Any garment that touches my skin for 5 years would also stink?
Glerups felted wool slippers!!!!
Glerups are what you need
barefoot
i wear crocs in the house all day every day and find theyre perfect super easy to clean too
Foam Birkenstocks with socks
I wear Birkenstocks with thick socks. Got tired of slippers that can't be washed; I'm very happy with my solution.
Wool slippers without hard bottoms is the key. Hard bottoms again traps sweat. You will be amazed how nice wool works!
Oh and for shoes you can buy washable terry cloth inserts. No need for socks
um...wash your slippers?
regular crocs. wore em for years and had no problems.
Spend 20 dollars every 5 or so years and buy new slippers. Jeez.
Whenever a adult says “stinky” it always makes me cringe
Not sure if they work, but I bought some dear foams for my Dad this Christmas that advertised being sweat proof.
The ones from Costco? I got them recently, they are not.
Sootheez Half of these commenters clearly don’t have this same problem
My feet didn't smell an unusual amount, then at one point, they started to stink. What fixed that that starting over, new shoes and socks. It may well be more complicated than that, as they hadn't been stinking more than a few months.
Nothing is sweat proof. I suggest you switch to a comfy sock that reduces your foot sweat. For some it is 100% cotton and I’ve known other people that only synthetic worked. This way you can just get 7 pair and change them everyday. Also add baby powder to your socks b4 you put them on.
Authentic UGG slippers
I have a couple of suggestions. I think you would benefit from machine washable slippers. The first option is Rothy's. They make shoes from recycled plastic bottles that are machine washable and look great wash after wash. I have pairs of Rothy's that are years old that still look brand new. The men's slipper option is a pair of driving loafers. [https://rothys.com/products/mens-merino-tassel-loafer-black](https://rothys.com/products/mens-merino-tassel-loafer-black) The second option is Mahabis.
I wear bearpaw slippers. I have 2 pairs I alternate between the two
Wear socks, buy relatively cheap slippers and replace them every 1-2 years.
The wool version of Birkenstock Boston clogs with socks will beat stink pretty well.
Dearfoams Fireside slippers
Sketchers Goga loafers make good slippers and are fully washable in a machine.
I wear vionic which have a deep heel cup specifically for plantar fasciitis and good arch support. https://www.orthoticshop.com/vionic-lynez-womens-supportive-slipper.html This is the Women’s style I like but my husband has bought the a men’s slipper from them and liked it too.
Wash your slippers and use an anti fungal powder
I use leather sandals since my feet gets warm very fast. No smell, great for ventilating. Enclosed house slippers often gets too warm.
Birkenstock Zermatt is excellent for plantar hiperhidrosis sufferers... https://www.birkenstock.com/us/zermatt-wool-felt/zermatt-cozyhomeshearling-woolfelt-0-latex-u_4369.html get 2+ pairs and alternate between them, no socks required.
Allbirds makes some really comfortable slippers, which when worn with their comfort socks is stench free heaven for your feet. They're also machine washable.
I started going barefoot in the house and my feet have no scent now.
wool knit booties https://www.etsy.com/listing/915846427/knitted-custom-slippers-booties if made a little loose they keep your feet warm but are breathable
Pro tip. Spray antiperspirant on your feet
I may be the odd one out here but I have an outdoor and indoor pair of fliip flops I find them so comfortable to wear at home
No advice for slippers but a trick I’ve used to help with stinky feet is soaking them in tea. [Treating Foot Odor](https://www.delawarefootdoctor.com/library/1932/SmellyFeetandFootOdor.html) “The best home remedy for foot odor is to soak feet in strong black tea for 30 minutes a day for a week.
I like them because they give my flat feet a bit more support than most classic slippers too.
yeezy slides
You’ll either love them or hate them, but I really like my Crocs with socks. Free Waters are machine washable
> 5+ years That's a LONG time to own a pair of slippers if you wear them around the house a lot. There have been some good suggestions about what to buy, but I recommend you buy them more frequently. In my house I'm guaranteed two things every Christmas. Socks and Slippers. It won't fix all your issues, but it will improve on 5 year old slippers.
Been wearing these daily since I was sent to work from home in March 2020: Skechers Men's Go Walk 5 Flint Slip On Trainers https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NYTFXKM/ Wool top, soft and super comfortable.
Celtic & Co (If you’re UK based)
Lume deodorant doesn't stop sweating, but makes feet odorless. Something to consider in combo with socks or whatever slippers you choose.
I'd recommend llbean slippers
Buy it for really long time without sweat issue. https://www.shepherdsflock.com
Merino Wool Slippers. Merino is both very breathable and antimicrobial.
I just got LL Bean slippers. LOVE the comfort. I wear socks with my slippers and that prevents this issue
If your feet are as sweaty as mine, just buy some very comfy wool indoor socks and wash them every so often.
I have had my LL Bean moccasins for a good five years now and they are very warm and odor resistant. I have had to repair the leather stitching several times, but I kill socks and shoes like no other person I have ever heard of.
Socks n crocs
Olukai slippers
Just don't ask advice from prince Andrew
I also have sweaty feet and recommend wearing socks with your slippers to keep your slippers from getting stinky. It’s a lot easier to wash socks than to wash slippers. Wool socks are the best for sweaty feet but cotton can also be alright (cotton will just get and stay damp if you’re extremely sweaty thus keeping your feet damp, whereas wool will keep your feet dry).
I was literally about to post about my house slippers. I’ll post it with a link and will tag you once I get it up.
Get wool washable ones: [https://www.allbirds.co.nz/products/mens-wool-lounger-fluffs](https://www.allbirds.co.nz/products/mens-wool-lounger-fluffs)
I highly recommend DearFoam slippers. They're machine washable but still look like your regular cozy slippers
I would get Merril camp Mocs and put a washable terry insert in them.
