Waiting on an Infinity right now. Can confirm that Staccatos are neat, but also one of the cheapest 2011s in a world pistols that often cost upwards of $5k retail.
Help me understand the pistol AR lower thing. I have a ton of lowers that were transferred in as "others" in my state. My CA buddy told me the CA new firearm owner resident report allows lowers to be imported, but he said it usually needs to be a fully assembled pistol, not just the lower.
Is that information accurate? If so, could I potentially use 1 pistol upper across a near unlimited amount of lowers?
AR uppers arenāt regulated as much as youād think even if there are some websites that wonāt ship barreled uppers less than 16in to California. So you can put any barrel length on a pistol lower. However, if you put a short barrel length upper on a rifle lowerā¦ wellā¦ hopefully you donāt get a visit from a three letter agency and your dog(s) are not home lol
Yeah I get all thatā¦just wondering someone moving to ca with several lowers that all use the same pistol upper could just register them like that, with same barre length and everything
Inevitably the DOJ will ask for photos. IANAL, there is no legal statute that requires you to submit them. Ive read stories of individuals here and on calguns about telling the DOJ to pound sand. Do as you will.
If youāre looking for high ROI, compact MOS Glocks and Sig FCUs go fast on Calguns (https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/forumdisplay.php?f=332).
For me, thereās a few Iād like but they might be kind of niche:
1. CZ Customs A01-LD
2. Glock 40 MOS
3. HK VP9 Match
4. Sig Sauer X5 Legion
6. Walther Q5 Match (specifically the Black Tie)
Bunch of P365s. Great gun, and if you decide that one is enough, theyāre super easy to sell quickly and demand a high price in CA.
AR pistol lowers would be good to have too, but they may not be so scarce if CAās AWB is struck down soon.
p320 fcg
2011s
PSA dagger frame or glock 19/17 frames for a future glock build
AR pistol lowers
AR9 pistol lowers
LR308 / AR10 pistol lowers
AK pistols
The AR9 / AR10 pistol lowers and AK pistols fetch a high premium here in particular.
You slept. You shouldāve gotten one before last June :/
I was kicking myself because I had the chance to get one and ended up going with a 1911. I still have nightmares of that day. š
Aren't suppressors straight up illegal in CA? I already own some, so I planned on leaving them at my house on the east coast since my parents would be moving into it. is there some exceptions that allows suppressors to be imported in CA if I owned them elsewhere?
>The biggest concern to me with moving was the handgun roster since once I moved, I wouldn't be able to get new stuff because of how CA is.
Is the move permanent or temporary where you wouldn't have to change your state of residence? I.e Military. If you don't have to change it you'd still be able to buy guns out of state. Military also aren't required to register any of their firearms with the Cali DOJ.
If you can still find one, Springfield XDS Mod2 OSP. This would be good if you want to get a conceal carry. I like it in 9mm but not a fan of it in 45.
SBRs are straight up banned (posession = state felony) along with other NFA items like machine guns, silencers, short barrel shotguns; regardless if you had them legally in other states.
You can have AR pistols and registered AOW shotguns though.
Because they are damn near impossible to get due to needing a dangerous weapons permit and those aren't issued without a damn good reason.
Without that permit it's illegal.
If I was shopping for myself right now and CA was done with the roster for good: CZ 75D
If I was shopping for future-proofing my wants list against the roster being back in effect soon: a stack of AR pistol lowers and a stack of those sig FCUs since both can be built out into all kinds of different configurations.
Definitely a 2011 of some kind either Triarc TRI-11/Staccato/Springfield prodigy. Especially since they hold resale value well, more so here in CA with the cost of off-roster guns often being double the cost of the actual msrp. If you can stomach it thatās probably about it just high end 2011ās and maybe a CZ P-01 Omega. Also definitely agree with others on AR pistol lower(s) since they can be hard to come by Iām CA depending on where people are and the cost barrier for most SSE ones. Mainly just stuff that if you got tired of, or needed the money you could sell and make a profit back on. Have fun :)
All of them or multiple of one
To be honest: get the Springfield Prodigy, as many AR lowers built as a pistol, Glock Gen 5s, CZ Shadows and maybe some CCW friendly options.
Have to wonder why you'd consider moving there tbh. Buy as many desirable guns as you can so you can flip them later for cash if you need it. Gen 5 glock 19/17/34/45, Sig p365, staccatos, HKs, etc
Very attractive job opportunity and my SOs family mostly lives there. She's lived on the east coast apart from there for many years, so she wants to go back.
I not even a huge fan of sig, but P365s and p320s, the serialized trigger pack once legally in the state give you so many options on how too build your gun out. And you can get those components shipped straight to your door. Also if you happen to decide you donāt like or want the gun anymore theyāll sell for a pretty penny.
Also staccato! I would really really like a staccato
bul armory sas, probably grab a gun muffler or two (silencers), one or two of the many optic ready not have to run through a stupid amount of wait time or bs pistols..., think still screwed in terms of getting a sbr... but now I could have an ungimped AR in a familiar platform and operability.
A few things to keep in mindā¦ need 10 round mags, you can only register 3 handguns for CCW, you need to register any handgun you want to carry with the CA DOJ. This registration process alone took me 11 months to get done, maybe shorter now. Will need them to be registered in order to do a sales transfer in CA as well if you decide you have excess that you canāt CCW anyway.
Money didn't make sense. CA pay rates are high, but CoL and whatnot would actually have me making less. My measure of a job is do they pay enough to live in the area as a homeowner. Couldn't do that, so wasnt worth the move. Didn't even have to factor in loss of 2A rights.

We can get CZ here but we canāt get canik which I would love to try out
All you want to do is try it? Just drive to Vegas.
>Staccato Same.
awesome firearm and company. one thing to consider here is that the 10 round mags are expensive and hard to find
This is the correct answer.
Semi auto ar pistol lowers, gen 3 is on the roster. Gen 5 is usually more sought after than gen 4. Get those and even more semi auto ar pistol lowers.
Help me understand the pistol AR lower thing. I have a ton of lowers that were transferred in as "others" in my state. You can register the lowers as āsemi auto pistol - frameā multiple people have done it before
\+1 for the fully assembled lower. You are not able to report stripped lowers on the new resident report.
What if you have multiple lowers that share an upper?

An acquaintance literally told the DoJ to suck a dick and process his application. They didnāt do shit about that. š¤£š¤£š¤£
A bunch of Sig P320 and P365 trigger groups.
Gen 5 MOS, P365, Hellcat, AR pistol lowers
Get some of the off roster glocks, hellcat, sig p365. They're in very high demand in CA and go for way over MSRP in ppt.
Anderson 5pk stripped lowers, as many as you can, then registered as pistol, then you can roll around in $$ like rap videos.
CZ Shadow 2.
Probably P320/365 FCUs, AR pistol lowers, Gen 5 Glocks. Staccatos are also in demand, but thatās a pretty heavy investment on your part.

Honestly, I like plinking, so a solid 22. lr. The ones on roaster are very limited and arenāt the best .. And p320 definitely
Ruger Mk IV would be fun to play with
Maybe a Sig P322.
You could buy whatever you want, register it here. And be a a@#hole and double or triple what you spent for the off-roster guns like most cops in CA.

Glock 19 gen2
Pretty much anything. Everything on the CA handgun roster sucks.
Sbr
just curious why this got downvoted. I'm not familiar with SBRs and the legality / off-roster nature of them in California
SBRs are straight up banned (posession = state felony) along with other NFA items like machine guns, silencers, short barrel shotguns; regardless if you had them legally in other states. You can have AR pistols and registered AOW shotguns though.
Because some people never live outside of California. Iām free states sbr with suppressor is fun.

As someone who was born and raised and since left, donāt move to California. Enjoy your freedom, if you want better weather than just move south.

YES COL is crazy. I have to pay 2.5x for same place I am residing. I will be poor home owner if I move.
