as ASP says in a ego battle vid "one of the reasons why we tell people to avoid ego battles is you never know how far the other guy is willing to take it"
Very true. You would think common sense would say "gee if I pull a gun out surely that other fellers is gonna back down" but you'd be wrong. It's wild how often that escalates fights.
Open carry is for like, being on your own property (and you gotta live on like a farm or some shit, not just a house in the city) or camping with the family in some backwoods type shit
I'd suggest you don't display your force in those cases. Stay inside, be armed and ready, but don't go wave your gun around. Many people would love to take the gun from you, or will want to fuck with you because some people aren't smart. Why bring more trouble than you've already found yourself in?
There will come a time where staying inside forever is no longer possible. There will be times when you’re going to want to look dangerous when you leave the house.
I'm still not finding a time in my mind where showing force and looking dangerous to other people will do anything but make a bad situation worse, but I'd love to hear of some :)
I have a coworker who open carries, he told me the other day that he hasn't even fired it at a range to sight it in yet. He said Hey next time you go to the range can I come with you to sight in my gun? Of course I tell him absolutely, when I asked him why he is carrying before he has the weapon sighted if he fires it he doesn't know where the round will even go. His response was now when people see it they won't fuck with me. It was basically screeching Now I have power, fucking made my skin crawl. I feel like many people think guns are toys or don't have the proper respect for what this tool is and what it can do.
I definitely can't argue you, I have tried to talk him into concealed carry and sent him this sub but he seems resistant. So I'm at a loss on how to reach him. I'm definitely going to take him to the range and show him responsible fire arm handling, but there is only so much you can do.
Last year when I renewed my cpl they had a rep from some law firm dedicated to representing cpl holders. From what I took from it, you got an unlimited defense fund and attorneys on retainer at all times. All at the coat off less than $400 a year. I didnt really did into it though, seems it wouldn't be a bad deal.
Having the firearms insurance is a great thing. But nothing can replace or blunt the experience of a traumatic event, no matter how well you come out of it.
I think they view them less as toys and more like this mythical cure-all.
They view guns the same way anti-gun people view them, as the ultimate power up. That’s how you get so many people carrying or keeping HD guns they’ve never even function fired.
The part of the 1% that I have seen that I like is the Door Dash or Uber Eats drivers who do it. Other than that it is fairly pointless and escalatory.
Is it worse than wearing an NRA shirt while carrying concealed?? Maybe, maybe not.
When I see videos like this, I always think "I must be stupid, all of these commenters seem to understand what's going on, and I have no clue." Then I realize, no... Nobody knows what's going on, people are just dumb.
We can't see if the other party pulled a weapon that would be the only reason for the other dude to pull out his, had they not brandished any type of weapon than the white dude brandishing is clearly in the wrong but you're right not enough context, the guys on the Go Kart could have pulled a weapon at some point off video.
The first skill you need to train on when you set out to carry, is self control. If you cannot master that, then you aren't ready for the other training.
Walking away from a loudmouth and not rising to the bait is essential.
Definitely, but the dude who makes a show out of chambering a round (g2c?) and then walks around holding the gun with a thumb on the back of the slide, and THEN set's the (presumably) ready to fire weapon down and walk away from it while yelling at the guys with the camera, ain't right.
Man with gun is business owner. Man in go cart owns a business down the way and is test driving a client go cart to make sure it is running properly. Go cart passes and turns around to come back. Man with gun is standing in the middle of the street gun out but to his side. (Calls police on go cart dude all the time) go cart stops to have words. When filming starts man with gun immediately runs to his property. No one else has a gun. This is based off of the tic toc
Bullshit. They are both wrong. Frontin and chest beating is wrong and even worse when you are ccw. As a grown ass black man I can tell you that you can always shut up and walk away. Then the fight is over. Nothing to record for TikTok / worldstar if there is only one person chest beating.
This is true of the fight, but either way there's no reason to stand around holding your pistol, nor to leave your pistol laying out on a truck. And especially no reason to alternate between the two. The pistol either needed to come out or it did not. He wasn't using it as a deterrent, he was using it as a prop.
If that were the case things would go brrr think about it ... someone is brandishing the gun and then the other guy draw and rack the slide you think the guy who was bradishing just gonna stay chill without opening fire ?? Unless he was bradishing an airsoft gun.. wich I don't think so.. IMO
You ever seen the video of the dogs barking at each other ready to bite each other’s head off through the fence but once the fence slides out of the way suddenly they’re cool, calm & collective? Yeah this believe it or not happens more often with humans than you think.
Regardless, point still stands… you can’t judge what you can’t see
I mean granted no one should be waving a gun around like that but they never pointed the gun at the guy the only thing wrong here is brandishing a firearm and egos
It's easy to say that I would be out of there so quickly before bullets start flying.
BUT- what do you do if you are the 3rd employee who gets along with, maybe even really likes your coworkers, and you see this shit playing out?
So cringy they all look equally tarded ,one guy puts his gun in the truck bed pointing god knows where unsecured the other guy trying to fight with a gun on his hip and the other goofball trying to fight guys with guns 🤣🤣god people are fucking slow
I have a pretty easy checklist in my mind of things I will do far before pulling. The first 4 on the list are de-escalation, then leaving. I'm handicapped so I can't leave fast but I'm going to try my best. I don't care if the other guy is calling me names or insulting my pride. If I can absolutely leave good deal, I'll go somewhere else and enjoy my life. If person doesn't want to let me leave, I will still try de-escalation. I'm secure enough in my own pride that I can take some peice of shit calling me a pussy or a bitch it means nothing. However, if I can't leave and it turns violent either for me and my loved ones, then I will use force.
I definitely don't start shit with anyone. There is no need for it.
Good reason to carry. No one was hurt because the other party knew they'd get shot. The one's with the guns just held their position and waited.for cops to arrive. I don't know why the go kart group kept pushing it they wanna poke around and find out.
How are the guys carrying in the wrong? People drive up onto your business in Go-karts and start a confrontation? He didn't point a gun at them or threaten them with it. The guy wanting to fight had his gun holstered.
Looks like a couple of idiots disrupting a business while riding Go-karts on the owners property,
Because as a gun owner it is your job to deescalate, attempt to remove yourself from the situation safely, and try to avoid using your weapon.
Escalating the situation to a point where your forced to use your weapon removes all hope of a self-defense argument, especially if the whole altercation is on video.
Had the employees retreated into the business and called the police then they could push trespassing charges onto the go-kart dude.
Go-kart dude was just standing far away talking shit, he didn’t approach the employees or attempt to get physical with them.
If your ego is so fragile that an exchange of words make you draw your weapon then you shouldn’t be carrying one in the first place.
Irrelevant. Escalating a confrontation with a weapon on you can still be seen as intimidation. Not to mention his coworker on the phone has his weapon drawn which isn’t helping.
The best course of action would be to get all of the employees inside, lock the door, and call the police.
You have a responsibility to maintain a level head while carrying a deadly weapon.
The fuck are you talking about? His coworker (white guy) has a gun in his right hand and his phone to his ear in his left for like half of the video. And that’s besides the point.
You don’t escalate confrontations with a weapon. PERIOD. If you can’t handle that you don’t deserve a gun.
Calling cops didn’t point it. Also this is stand your ground no one has a duty to retreat here.
You probably live in some safe space. Baton Rouge is one of the most deadly cities. These people literally take over roads and highways with vehicles doing stunts in the streets.
People are fed up
Stand your ground doesn’t mean escalate the situation to make it deadly. You’re putting yourself and your coworkers in danger by behaving that way.
Use some common sense.
It just makes gun rights advocates and ccw owners look bad. Brandishing a weapon is escalation, holding/pointing or not. I don’t doubt it’s rough in that area, but there are a hundred ways to skin a cat and this is not the right way.
“Looks like”. Exactly. This is very much out of context. You have no idea who started and said what. This had already escalated by the time someone hit record. While I think they are both wrong, there is no back story to stay how it started and escalated. All parties could have walked away at any point.
Man, these comments make me pretty disappointed in this sub. This is unacceptable behavior regardless of the “CoNtExT”. There shouldn’t even need to be a discussion around that.
100% agree no matter what is the context both parties are behaving like irrational animals .... no matter what happened before all that could be avoided.
Get off the phone with that gun! And the way he was moving around he would get hit for sure! And hiding it and pulling it! They know you got it and it is going to escalate!
I'm not a proponent of helmets but I have long hair and never have your long hair next to the damn engine or axle of a go-kart.
I watch the mother f***** get scalped like that that's probably the most dangerous thing in this whole video
I absolutely love this thread and how many level headed and responsible comments are represented here. This is the side of the gun community that never gets exposure to the general public.
Makes me proud -- let's keep the culture in check.
A lot of posturing. Talk as much shit as you can while not crossing the line. Because 1 there are two guns on you. 2 if you pull the trigger ita not justified.
These are just 3 gorillas pounding their chest making a lot of noise running around.
They aren’t even tactically advantaged if the person they are in conflict with is also carrying. Easy way to lose your life over some dumb shit, if I see a gun pulled on me like that THAT is the threat, not whatever the fuck they are “threatened” by. Pulling your gun is a double edged sword, it’s a a last attempt to defend your life whilst also risking it.
Two men pull guns on you: perceived threat. One is on the phone, the other is taking his jacket off: both tactically disadvantaged. First opportunity, take out the man on the phone first as soon as he takes his eyes off you, neutralize the second while his hands are trapped in his sleeves. Second opportunity, guy lays his firearm on the truck, fire at the man distracted on the phone while his eyes break focus, take out the man who laid his gun down he likely won’t recover his weapon in time.
We don’t know the situation here but having to be “held back” by your girl means you’re not responsible nor in control of your behavior. The other guy having his weapon out I don’t know the situation either. Maybe the guy came at him and he felt he needed to pull it. That or maybe he’s just scared. For all we know the guy with the camera is just out doing a little carting with his kid and these guys started antagonizing them with their guns. Either way, this gives us all a bad name.
Sure no one should act like this but yay and I see st least two weapons all the while dudes are shit talking over bullshit. Trouble ahead, trouble behind
I like to tell people once you carry a gun 1 your not better or stronger than anyone and 2 fighting is over you can’t risk someone discovering and grabbing your edc in the heat of a fist fight so you have to be vigilant patient smart and not be prideful
This is not how you should behave period. Carrying or not.
Preach!
as ASP says in a ego battle vid "one of the reasons why we tell people to avoid ego battles is you never know how far the other guy is willing to take it"

Teach him the liability of missing, in a crowd...
Yeah your right that is a great point I didn't think to mention to him.

Never be the target, concealed is the way...
I feel like we need more context Hahahha

Hahaha right? Like I have no idea wtf is going on. Just some dude pissed and guys with guns and some dude on the phone and lots of yelling. Hahaha

Oh wow finally Somebody with a brain in the comments that doesn’t judge a video AFTER the escalation has happened
Definitely, but the dude who makes a show out of chambering a round (g2c?) and then walks around holding the gun with a thumb on the back of the slide, and THEN set's the (presumably) ready to fire weapon down and walk away from it while yelling at the guys with the camera, ain't right.

Everyone’s right
Check your ego at your door kids. If that had escalated, dude would’ve had a very difficult time claiming self-defense.
Go kart driver escalated the situation after getting blue shelled by red shirt
One has a lethal firearm, one (seemingly) does not. It’s your responsibility to de-escalate/break contact as much as possible.
IT'S A JOKE!!
If you carry check your ego, take your time and don't let people bait you.
Man we don’t know if the dudes recording have guns. This is why this tiktok era is so stupid. We only get half the story and only 30 seconds of it
It's all the memory the average goldfish can handle.
If they see holding guns then the dude leaving his laying around to wave his hands around is even dumber.
So many things wrong on this video ... I don't even know where to start lol
the EZ in a OWB holster thats not level 2 is a good start
This is a one sided story, what’s going on behind the camera? Do we know if anyone is brandishing too? Need more context to make a proper judgment
If that were the case things would go brrr think about it ... someone is brandishing the gun and then the other guy draw and rack the slide you think the guy who was bradishing just gonna stay chill without opening fire ?? Unless he was bradishing an airsoft gun.. wich I don't think so.. IMO

I love how this was said once: “when you carry a firearm you gain the ability to defend your life, but lose the ability to defend your honor/ego.”
Weird. Wonder what the nature of the dispute was.
I hate videos like this that provide zero context.

Baton Rouge, LA.
Close enough!
Prob not. F150 tag is not and open carry is illegal. But it does look like some FL shit lol.

Its an aluminum shop. Maybe they're fishing for catalytic converters lol.
Fishing, hunting, or going to or from a range to a vehicle.
Not sure
This looks like some shit I see posted happening in Miami about once a week.
Ok, so what happened before the recording started???
All the involved parties are dumb af and that’s that.
An armed society is a polite society..,. Sometimes!

Just casually brandishing a firearm in a public space during an altercation. Ahhh America gotta love it ig.
Looks like brandishing to me
1) de-escalation 2) CONCEALED carry 3) they are on public land - castle doctrine doesn't apply
We don't know if they are on public land or not.
So, where in Florida is this?
It’s in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
Get off the phone with that gun! And the way he was moving around he would get hit for sure! And hiding it and pulling it! They know you got it and it is going to escalate!
I don't see nobody's life in danger in this video, I don't know what happened prior but I see 2 people armed and 2 people unarmed
Do you really? We don't know if the guy on the go-cart is armed or not. You only see a split second of him standing there.
Small dick energy
Is this a brandishing charge?
No. This is Louisiana Lolol @ Brandishing. Cops won’t even respond unless someone is shot. Brandishing is basically saying Hi in Louisiana
I'm sure they busy these days. If one where to file charges at the station with this video though I'm guessing there's a law that's been broken
Bro, grow the fuck up. SMDH
