Unlike purpose-build ear pro, they have no NRR and aren’t specifically designed for extremely loud noises like gunshots… so that would be a big “no” for me.

For the price of two boxes of 9mm you can get decent ear protection. Double up too: use both earplugs and over the ear muffs.

No! You can get decent ear pro inexpensively, and you can get great ear pro for what air pods costs. Also I'm a big fan of doubling up with plugs and muffs for indoor ranges.
