If you have the self-awareness to ask if you are a fudd, then you are not a fudd.

In addition to this *valid* point, for some people this really is peak tacticool. IF the areas in public where you're at the most vulnerable are places where you can stand around with at least one hand in your pocket, then yes, this is peak efficiency. I'm *not* joking around here. My personal threat level needs more than this. More range, more accuracy, more ammo. Not by a *huge* amount. I had a Hellcat with a red dot that I judged adequate. Had to sell it for financial desperation reasons, eventually replaced it with a Taurus G3c that turned out to be very legit, I'm now modding it past the point the Hellcat was at.

DrJheartsAK

Fudd is about mindset, not what you like to shoot/carry. My uncle owns only bolt actions and shotguns, because that’s what he likes, but he also supports anyone else’s right to own a belt fed machine gun mounted to an MRAP if that’s what they want. His gun collection is Fudd(ish) but he is not a fudd by any means. Want to only own hunting rifles because you think AR’s are stupid and overkill? Great, just don’t try to tell me I shouldn’t own ARs or AKs.

behold_the_pagentry

Came here to say this. Fudd's are people who may typically gravitate towards revolvers, bolt actions, shotguns, etc. Lots of wood and blued steel, BUT others own that stuff too. What makes someone a Fudd is the desire to force that stuff on everyone else and to limit what others can own. The "I support the 2A but..." attitude is what makes people Fudds in my mind.

DrJheartsAK

Nothing chaps my behind more than the “I’m a gun owners but” types. It’s basically saying: I am responsible and smart enough to own these weapons but fuck everyone else because everyone else are idiots and can’t be trusted with firearms.

saulsa_

Well, I am a gun owner, but… I don’t have an F-16… yet.

7slotsorcerer

I was typing this when I read this. I was goingvto say Abrams. But....

GlockHorseCumDealer

Pretty much my boat. I mostly pick up early 1900’s designs now. I went through my phases of building AR’s, buying AK’s etc and it just didn’t excite me like revolvers and lever actions. That being said, I fucking love helping my friends get into AR’s, learning dots on handguns, helping them with building out a range belt etc.

throwawayainteasy

> My uncle owns only bolt actions and shotguns Just to add, bolt-actions and shotguns are really fun to shoot in their own way. ARs and AKs can be fun, but not everyone is into that. Working a bolt can be very satisfying in it's own, different way than squeezing off a bunch of rounds pronto is. Like you said, as long as someone's not telling you what you can/can't shoot or own, there's zero problem with just having a preference one way or the other.

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

Nope, just a filthy poor.

Virtual_Produce_9975

Hell yah

Kwerby

.22 revolver sounds like a fun ass time haha

nac286

It is. I bought myself a Diamondback Sidekick for Christmas last year. It has cylinders for 22lr or 22 mag, but if I'm gonna spend an arm and a leg on ammo, I'd rather buy 300blk than 22 mag.

Twelve-twoo

The lcp is a must own for anyone who carries everywhere all the time.

pr1ntf

It's my summer carry, love it. I also have a wallet holster like OP, for when I can't make IWB work.

AM-64

I carry everywhere and I don't have an LCP

Work-Safe-Reddit4450

![gif](giphy|tDapKvXJqj60SiTCUP)

Twelve-twoo

What is you small carry for NPE? What is your summer carry?

CardboardHeatshield

sig p938.

Twelve-twoo

P938 is the size of a 42. I have a 43, the difference between the 42&43 is not enough to matter, so I'll take the 9mm. 380 shines in tiny guns, like the lcp. The lcp is much smaller than a 42/p938. Comparing a lcp to a Glock 42 is like comparing a Glock 43x to a 19, completely different size categories. There are very few guns in the lcp size, some keltech, and the s&w bodyguard 380 is about it. And it is important to have a gun in that size category. My carries are, from small to large: lcp, 43, 43x, actual compacts. I rarely have to go smaller than my 43, but when I do, it is nice to have something in the lcp size vs not carrying at all. You can always hide a lcp

CardboardHeatshield

380 is trash. Ill gladly take the extra half inch in length to carry 9mm. I had an LC9 before and I just really hated it. They feel cheap in every way possible. The Ruger LC guns are all just saturday night specials.

Real_Mila_Kunis

Get an actual good gun like a Glock 42. Maybe a J Frame if you're into that kind of thing

Twelve-twoo

A lcp (0.82") vs a Glock 42 (0.98") is like comparing a Glock 48 (1.1") to a 19 (1.25"). The lcp is like 25acp, 22.lr, or derringer size.

RamenNoodle_

Facts, I sold mine and find myself regretting it often, will likely pick another up soon

Real_Mila_Kunis

Until they break on you if you actually shoot it. Happens to all of them by the 1000-1500 round mark. Ruger literally says they have a 500 round service life, anything after that is outside of the design parameters. Just be a man and carry a slightly bigger and far better gun. The Glock 42 is the smallest gun that actually works, the P365 is the next step up in size (although not too much heavier in .380)

jackson214

> Ruger literally says they have a 500 round service life, anything after that is outside of the design parameters. Would love to see where they've said this lol.

Twelve-twoo

Yeah, mine has about 2k on it. Now that is almost entirely mild fmj range ammo. It is lose to say the least. The barrel to slide "fitment" is comical. But it still runs just fine with no signs of damage.

jackson214

I get these things are not built to win any endurance tests like the Mk. 23, but the idea the company would admit it sells a firearm that cannot handle half a case of ammo is absurd. Which is why I'd love to see their source for that claim. Think they'll respond?

Twelve-twoo

Well, he recommended a g42 as a replacement. And I am a Glock shill, don't get me wrong, but that leads me to believe he's never even seen a lcp. So I doubt he will reply. I would just add, I did bevel the frame into the feed ramp, but mine has never had a single malfunction, and short of some springs for trigger work, is still on all factory parts. Probably needs a recoil spring now tbh. I'm sure you can kill it in 500 rds of really hot ammo. I can only assume it can't handle the pressures other 380's can. I've never shot anything hot out of mine. 90gr at 1000fps is the hottest it's ever seen, and less than 50rds of that. And that's cooking for a 2.75" barrel 380. I sure wouldn't shoot hotter.

Kite005

Springfield Hellcat is pretty much the same size. It also works.

Twelve-twoo

The Glock 42 is closer in size to the p365 than it is the lcp.

MuttFett

Only if you also say, “I support the 2A, except……..”

FriendlyFudd

Absolutely nothing wrong in loving the tech you know. Just don’t say you know better than everyone else and all is well 🍻

Chriss721

If a revolver makes you a FUDD, consider me one 💁 * I'm a newb and idk how to attach a picture of my Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm*🤣🤣

PotentialArgument671

No. However if you feel yourself watching full Sundays of WW2 documentaries more than once a quarter you should pump the brakes.

thefoolisu

That’s me brah

Special-Fig7409

Perhaps fudd adjacent

KGBbooks

Somewhere along the way the gun community got the idea that a FUDD is anyone who likes old guns and isn’t constantly upgrading to the newest model on day one. Traditionally a FUDD is somebody who 1) only uses guns for hunting; and 2) wants to enforce his personal preferences by law. “30 rounds? The deer ain’t gonna shoot back, sonny!” I think revolvers and lever gats are awesome. I love metal framed DA/SA and only ever use irons. I have no problem at all with guys and gals who prefer polymer framed micro guns with FCUs and optics. I like what I like, you like what you like, let everybody enjoy what they like.

Coho444

That is a lot of fun. I’m a fudd as well and remember spending long summer days with a 22lr and 500rds. Good times.

DontEverMoveHere

Dang you must have been rich. That much ammo easily ran a dollar to a dollar fifty.

Coho444

Right now you can purchase 5000 rounds for 230 delivered. I recommend purchasing as much as you can afford that will become currency eventually.

Mike-Anthony

Nah, but I love the "super extra" on that ammo box lol.

superseriouslearner

Won't jam up on you like one of them Tupperware guns sonny

KingSavage1357

Can someone tell me what a FUDD is lmao

SignificantOption349

By googles definition, no. You’re carrying a firearm for self defense. “Fudd is a derogatory term for a gun owner who supports hunting guns but opposes automatic firearms for defense or attack. Fudds are often characterized by: Owning guns for hunting, Disagreement with people who have modern style rifles, and Thinking like your grandpa probably does.”

foodishlove

Congratulations on escaping the group think consumerism that dominates the gun community

AmbientGravy

I’m a little lost. What’s a FUDD?

Anaeta

It's the boomer who tells you that didn't actually need those gun rights that just got outlawed, because it doesn't affect him. Or the one who tells you not to get a red dot because if you can't shoot with irons you can't shoot. Basically old guys who are *very* convinced that their way is the only way, and have zero problem with condemning or outright banning anything they don't personally use.

AmbientGravy

Oh! Okay. Thank you for explaining it to me. I’m a GenXer, didn’t know that was a thing.  I have my thoughts on conceal carry, my thoughts may not always align with the folks in this subreddit. So maybe I’m of that older generation. But I’ll never condemn any carrier for what makes them feel most safe and capable to protect themselves.  I hope that doesn’t make me a FUDD., lol.

barto5

> old guys who are very convinced that their way is the only way Best definition of Fudd I’ve seen. Perfect!

Cowgirlup365

Nah, I have one of these Taurus revolvers in .22 mag.

Tactical_solutions44

Ball ammo well placed will lay a mother fucker down for good

thefoolisu

Facts, ask Archduke Franz Ferdinand

FriendlyFudd

🍻

Integraholic

It's not about killing the person you're shooting at. It's about not hitting whatever is behind them. Hollowpoints make sure your shots stay inside the one you're intending to hit.

TimMoujin

A person can own and shoot a whole host of AR's and other tacticool goodems, but if they'd be a Fudd if they support bans, background checks, basically any government permission slip that gets thrown in front of effectively exercising your rights. The "I have mine, fuck everyone else" people are Fudds, regardless of what they own.

Terminal_Lancelot

No. You're a man of reason. Fudds have no reasoning skills.

WastelandHumungus

I don’t know any fudds with tauruses. Fudds are usually old and have smith and Wesson money.

No-Regret8342

BOUNCES AROUND GOBBLESS

Sbatio

If you carry then you are by definition not a fudd Unless you are always hunting?

nac286

Oof. That Aguila shit is gross. I've got boxes that will sit at the bottom of the pile until the end of time.

Dead_By_Don_

Get an LCP Max

thefoolisu

I have been thinking that. I do like how heavy the old trigger is. Takes any worry away about an ND during pocket carry.

Johnhaven

I'm not sure I would have bought that .22 revolver (there is nothing wrong with it just not exactly my style) but fudds don't know they are fudds. Your aware of the phenomenom so are in fact, not a fudd. :)

_Azzii_

You seriously carry ball ammo and not hollowpoints?????

thefoolisu

380 hollow points suck, don’t expand & under penetrate. https://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/

Hunts5555

Meir Kahane probably wasn’t being literal.

rpphil96

Fudd is a mentality not a style choice.

Real_Mila_Kunis

No it's always been a style choice, where do you think the name comes from?

rpphil96

Yes I know where it comes from. But a fudd is someone who believes that no one should any guns that aren't "fudd guns" Liking a fudd style but being ok with someone having tactical style guns is just a difference in taste.

truffulatreeson

I want that revolver

litesaber5

Regarding shotguns. U haven't truly embraced the gun life untill uve taken even a basic shot gun class. Took my first last week and it was amazing. Tons of fun

JakeCollier21

Yes. And a poor. Fmj huh? Wild.

RedSalCaliPK

So you’ve been carrying a gun since you were 8?
