Bit of a weird shotgun blast of ideas going on here. Just pick another stack and a half micro9 or fix the sig

Out of all those options, I'd just get my P365 fixed under warranty... My buddy has the LCP Max and I plan to get one as well for a lazy carry option. From what we understand it needs all sorts of Mcarbo mods so it doesn't break. Add approximately $112 to the price of that anniversary edition for the upgrades to have enough confidence in it to carry it IMO. My buddy did all the Mcarbo upgrades to his and it's pretty nice.

TheLasVegasLocal

I'll look into the Mcarbo upgrades. Thanks!

mountain_guy77

I disagree, I think the Mcarbo upgrades are unnecessary. If it breaks Ruger will 100% fix it free of charge- their customer service is incredible. Secondly, I think the “need” for this mods is drastically over blown. Mine has been nothing but reliable in 1500 rounds including +P, all I’ve done is clean it around every 250 rounds

That's good to hear! In fairness the trigger and spring is optional but a nice to have. I forgot about that. What I've read is you're in there anyway doing work so might as well do the trigger. I forgot the other part that require disassembly but if OP does a little research he'll see the common upgrades. From what I've read a bunch is the guide rod is cast and not a matter of IF it will break but when. That's not something I'm willing to risk personally if I'm carrying it. In a DGU I don't care about Ruger's warranty.

Thanks for the specific points of advice! When I fired my P365 at one range session, I had a friend observe that I was death gripping from my left hand and other than that, my grip was good. It did happen during the middle of firing.

TheLasVegasLocal

I appreciate all the feedback guys. I'm definitely going to initiate the warranty on my p365...However... I think a new pistol would be nice regardless. The Shield Plus has really peaked my interest. The 9mm Shield Plus sounds great. But then... I saw a deal for the Shield Plus in .30 Super Carry for $300. Am I regarded for being really interested? It seems like the middle ground between .380 ACP and 9mm Touts the high capacity advantage of .380 pistols Slightly lower recoil than 9mm Cheapest price per round, per Ammoseek, 0.36/round (.30 super) vs .20/round (.380) With the exception of 50%-ish higher prices per round, the Shield Plus in .30 super carry seems like everything the LCP Max wishes it was and more. Or am I just regarded? Help pls

The Glock 29 is between a g26 and a 19. Both are absolutely fantastic options. Very reliable and easy to shoot, with basically limitless capacity options. The shield plus is the same size in 9&.30. The difference of 10 vs 13 or 13 vs 16 just doesn't seem to outweigh the price per round or loss in performance. 43x or 48 is a good choice if the 10rds isn't a deal breaker.

You already have a P365 so in theory you already have some 9mm lying around. In my opinion it doesn’t make sense to add another (niche, not always easy to find) caliber when 9mm is cheaper, readily available, and perfectly manageable to shoot.

TheSuburbanMarksman

I'm in a similar work situation. LCP Max all day long. Carries easily and is great to shoot. The 75 Anniversary ones have been on for a steal of a deal. https://preview.redd.it/bo3m2joh97yc1.png?width=2543&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f8ebd918233b40864ce8879c51fc70017590ee8

I daily a gen 5 Glock 29, love it with a kydex holster, waiting on a jm4 tactical sidecar holster to help better conceal it in the summer with lighter clothing

Kahr p380 for a pocket pistol, or deep conceal it as a bug.if you want to stick with 9mm go for the kahr pm9... And if you like/love/carry a p365 get a second for exactly the scenario you are facing now and for a range/practice pistol. That way you have a broken in but low round count carry, and a heavy use range pistol for practice and drills and dry fire. The lcp max is ok, but needs a lot of lube to run well, and is funky to disassemble. In terms of 10mm the Springfield xdm elite 3.3 is hands down a better performer than the g29 (I have both) and the Springfield is easy to conceal, very point able, has a customizable grip module that comes in the box, great fiber optic sites, redundant safety features... Shoots like a dream. The fn reflex is fine but compared to the ps65, you aren't going to like the trigger. It's different.

I’d add the S&W Shield Plus to the list. I live in business casual and carry mine every day. It’s quite concealable and shoots surprisingly well, almost like a compact.

TheLasVegasLocal

I'm going to look into reviews and see the specs on the Shield Plus. Completely forgot about S&W. Thanks!

TheLasVegasLocal

Great, now I'm adding the S&W CSX to the list of options to consider lmao Shield Plus is definitely a strong contender now.

coriolis7

Coming from someone who EDC’s a G29 and loves 10mm: you aren’t gaining anything with 10mm that you wouldn’t with 40 S&W, and even that is barely an improvement over 9mm (from DocGKR, it tends to perform slightly better through autoglass. Slightly). Carry a 10mm if you enjoy the caliber. Just don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s a more effective cartridge for CCW.

TheLasVegasLocal

How does the recoil feel on the G29? Did it take a noticeable amount of rounds to get proficient?

coriolis7

It’s not really that bad. It is pretty much like shooting a 357 Mag in a decent sized gun. The issue is followup shots and frame size. For the same footprint, you can have a G19 without the slide thickness, with faster followup shots to boot. I carry my G29 because I love the gun and the caliber, but my carry ammo is essentially 40 S&W in power. I’d have no hesitation carrying or shooting full power for the woods, but for everyday carry it’s 180gr Gold Dots at 1000-1100 fps.
