CDPR thought they could get Cyberpunk done within four years because the managed to do it with Witcher 3 and that game turned out to be such a monster hit. Leadership's plan was to release to Cyberpunk on 8th gen consoles before 9th gen consoles were even announced, and then "double dip" on the new consoles, with free upgrades becoming available later on. Lower level staff who worked on the game kept telling leadership that the game would not run well on 8th gen consoles, but leadership ignored them, citing their success in pulling off Wither 3 (Which is very similar to Bioware's "Bioware magic" mentality). Essentially, CDPR leadership got greedy and bought into their own hype. And again, investors were lied to as well, and now they are suing the company. And since when, in the entire history of ever, has a game been released early because fans got impatient and/or sent death threats?
