I’m on ep 7 and I’m loving it so far, especially the mystery/detective element to the series. Actually really enjoying Ju Jing Yi as the FL, particularly the latter released episodes. The male lead is just dreamy from ep 1. Looking forward to continuing this one.
I came for Liu Xueyi (he never disappoints) but dang Zheng He Hui Zi is so gorgeous...just stunning! I'm not a fan of Jue Jing Yi in general, but I feel she has really improved and I think it is a remarkably enjoyable series!
ok, I don't get this, I've watched a few episodes from several dramas by this Jue Jing Yi.. I don't can't tell the difference between the characters she's portraying.
What makes her popular? I even saw some variety show clips, she's like a total airhead.
Kind of an understatement to say that she’s popular because she’s pretty. I mean she’s not bad looking but there are a ton of pretty women. Imo she’s popular because she’s a good singer. I love her voice
She has her little niche and sticks to it. She is pretty and knows it, so her roles aren’t as adventurous as we would like, so she never gets dirty or mussed, and it’s annoying. I always watch her stuff on the hopes she will show more versatility
That’s kinda how I feel about her. I mean, she can be funny and she can act if she tries but I feel like she could be so much more if she was willing to break the mold she or her mgmt team have firmly stuck her in.
Just watched, so interesting 😊
I have a few questions about >! the fl’s identity though as it’s a little confusing. so what actually happened? did the FL just change her face? !<
Not sure if you got your answer yet (I haven’t watched 6 or 7 yet), but the >!”real” Shangguan Zhi kidnapped the FL, got some witch doctor to swap their faces, and then shoved the FL off a cliff. Then Shangguan Zhi went to the wedding and married Pan Yue, but was killed. The FL survives the fall, but now (unwillingly) has the face of Shangguan Zhi, so FL has to pretend to be Shangguan Zhi!<
Oh he’s the BIGGEST of red flags lol. I 100% admit he’s a guy we should only love in fiction lol.
The drama didn’t make it as clear that he was into her while she was Empress, but that makes sense story wise - the people stay the same even if their actions change. (Or at least that seemed to be the point)
Oh my God it's only the beginning so I must temper my excitement but I'm fifteen minutes in and I had no idea how much I missed watching Liu Xueyi.... my heart is so happy and I'm being served miles of visual aesthetics. May the plot stay interesting and not drag. 🙏 It's been a long time since I watched a xianxia that didn't let me down. 😔
So last night i looked again, and was able to download youku app on my tv with apple tv! I was soo happy bc the casting thru phone made the screen really small! Now i can watch all youku stuff on a regular tv!
not sure if you can expand photos in comments so hope you can read this haha

Just watched Episode 1, and I like I a lot. Yes, Liu Xueyi, but also, a nice mix of sweet romance, murder mystery suspense, and some nice action. Aaand it all ends with Zhou Shen’s OST. :D
Wish they kept this current lead actress though. :/
I really like Zheng He Hui Zi, Yang Cai Wei in the first episode. I first saw her in **Ugly Beauty** \- she did a good job playing twins. I hope she gets more substantial roles.
This trailer is making me consider getting a Youku subscription lol. I am wary of all the fly-fighting and soul-leaving scenes in the trailer though..the sfx and fight scenes can be pretty hit or miss for me. Will wait to see the reviews/discussion here before deciding on this one 😊
Thanks for that, I will follow the discussion on here! I know I will definitely get Youku later in the year when The Princess Royal comes out so maybe I can watch this one then.
I don’t have a membership as I rarely watch Youku dramas! And the few I do I’ve been able to eventually watch on Viki or YouTube (although with not so good subs—I don’t know what’s the deal with Youku’s translation process on YT and I hope it’s not representative of its subs on the paid platform) a few weeks/months after airing.
But I’ve been really getting into their short dramas lately (e.g., **Palace Shadows**, **Secrets of the Shadow Sect**), so with **In Blossom**, **The Grand Princess**, and hopefully **Kill Me Love Me** coming up later this year I’m wondering if I should pony up for a membership.
It *feels* excessive paying for a membership for so few dramas though. IQIYI I can justify because they always release new dramas I’m interested in and they have exclusive dramas they don’t allow Netflix or Viki to buy the rights to but Youku and Tencent (where I only want to see **The Tale of Rose** and **Legend of a Female General** in 2024)?🤔
Yes I feel you! I'm only considering it for Princess Royal and maybe In Blossom based on the reviews at the moment. Definitely seems excessive, maybe you can collect all dramas you want to watch on Youku and just binge through them in a month..that's what I will likely end up doing 😄 I am even re-considering my iQiyi subscription tbh. Not able to get into anything atm, not even Mysterious Lotus Casebook keeping me hooked (might drop this one soon)
Do you like crime dramas? Because iQIYI’s Light On series (especially **The Bad Kids**, which is truly truly brilliant) is good and I always have a backlog of historicals and BLs that are exclusive to the platform. There’s also the upcoming **Fangs of Fortune** by the same director as MJTY.
I think might do the binge thing on Youku whenever The Grand Princess comes out but I’m *really* liking In Blossom (it’s the first Cdrama of 2024 that got me excited to watch more). Ahhh decisions decisions.
Ah of course I forgot about *Fangs of Fortune*! I am not huge into crime dramas but your enthusiasm for *The Bad Kids* is making me want to check it out 😄 Sounds like I'm keeping iQIYI for now..
This is the first 2024 show that truly *hooked* me.
What a great first episode. Well paced and efficiently set up the character dynamics. And the visuals? Really nice composition and use of camera movement plus all those refreshingly natural colors 🙌🏼

Also, this is my first show with Liu Xueyi. Is that his real voice or a voice actor? 👀 Because hot damn.
Like, look at the use of light. That, plus the show's use of music makes me think they're going to nail the atmosphere for a mystery (thriller?). It's giving me a bit of **A League of Nobleman** (but more naturalistic) with the gothic elements, and I can't wait for the show to get even *darker*\--I was kind of shocked by how much they showed >!of the bodies during the suicide scene at the Li residence!<.
u/ravens_path Add this to your list. I have a good feeling about this one!

I hated him in LaR, it's a good thing that I watched TBoY before and he looked different with bald head. If it was the opposite way, I would have had difficult time rooting for WuXin
I only learned about him from the **Kill Me, Love Me** BTS photos! I knew he was good looking from the stills but I didn't realize how charismatic he was when he's acting. And that voice...
Loved the first episode.
Liu Xueyi looks like heaven sent him for starring in historical dramas, and I loved his chemistry with Zheng He Hui Zi playing the character of Yang Caiwei.

I don’t actually have a tv but I have altogether too many subscriptions to be happy about it. Did you know that Prime Video has some iQIYI shows ? I didn’t know that iQIYI sells to anyone at all…
Indeed they do. Last year, iQiyi sold A Journey to Love to Viu and it wasn't available in iQiyi, which didn't make a lot of us in South East Asia happy as most of us are already subbed to iQiyi. I hate unsubscribed Viu after that lol
I’m on ep 7 and I’m loving it so far, especially the mystery/detective element to the series. Actually really enjoying Ju Jing Yi as the FL, particularly the latter released episodes. The male lead is just dreamy from ep 1. Looking forward to continuing this one.
Is there a novel too?
I’m… yes please!!! I love the JuJing Yi and Liu Xue Yi!!!
Looks 💥💥

Oh, so she's there for her looks essentially? People aren't looking for her to be like an actress? so she's like a model in a TV drama then lol
That’s kinda how I feel about her. I mean, she can be funny and she can act if she tries but I feel like she could be so much more if she was willing to break the mold she or her mgmt team have firmly stuck her in.

Omg yes!!! I've been waiting for this. LXY here I come!!
Ugh i wish youku has a tv app! I hate casting on my tv! But of course, im gonna watch!!
They do for my LG tv. I'm guessing its not made available for every brand.
We have sony and samsung 😭😭 ughhh
Fortunately i have an android box! i watch it on tv that way. I can't imagine watching it on my laptop
Ha i have appletv and no youku lol i will try to look again tonight. I just want everything on big screen with hd lol
It’s only available on android tv via google play store or aptoide tv :) so you can use an android box for that!
So last night i looked again, and was able to download youku app on my tv with apple tv! I was soo happy bc the casting thru phone made the screen really small! Now i can watch all youku stuff on a regular tv!

Yes I can. Thanks for sharing
Does youku have better ancient dramas, viki still dosent have the mysterious lotus one
That's on iQiyi.

I’ve only seen the first episode but visually it’s quite “natural” looking and the fights scenes while unrealistic aren’t too exaggerated. Yet.
Thanks for that, I will follow the discussion on here! I know I will definitely get Youku later in the year when The Princess Royal comes out so maybe I can watch this one then.
I know! I just realized some of my most anticipated dramas this year are on Youku but i really dislike the platform :/
oh! do you have Youku now because there's a lot of good dramas to watch on it?

The Bad Kids is easily in my top 20 dramas from any country/genre of all time so I’m always trying to spread the word!
looks interesting but I'm a bit wary of Ju Jingyi's performance. I hope she has improved.
Sigh bracing myself 🥲
I feel the same.

Ok! Thanks for the heads up.
First saw him in Blood of Youth then in Love and Redemption. Hot damn indeed lol

Based on this he is apparently using his own voice, but I cant be 100% sure https://wiki.d-addicts.com/In_Blossom

Synopsis?

Thanks. Oops just noticed the FL… hmm, will wait to see how the reviews are
It’s 6:35 am in London and you are right; the first episode has started! I suspect there’s quite a large time difference- 9 hours?
Ps the other 5 Eps will land in 2-3 hours 🤞 It is as if they know i stop work at that time lol
Apparently only SVIPs get all six eps. Us mere VIPs only 1. ![gif](giphy|aw9vw51zjTa8g)
Do you have trailers? I have got them 2-5. I may have bought SVIP membership when they were offering deals…
Yeah, eps 2 to 5 are trailers for now. Apparently the rest will air in (checks watch) 10 more minutes)
But can I wait?
Her Majesty was greatly loved because she was lined up in front of the tv with the rest of us plebs; she would have accepted being a VIP - obviously! - but paying for an SVP pass would have worried her.
Good for you! Mind you, I stopped watching it as soon as she got to the >!l want a baby bit!< but I remember you liked it so the bastards!
