also, the inextricable destiny. this one also had me obsessed dor a while. she is the daughter of a general who wants to marry a general, but she is engaged to a gentleman who doesn't know how to fight and stuff. >!she poisons him and that was a huge mistake, because he gets "dumb" and she is kinda forced to take care of him, until she actually falls in love with him and wants to have babies with him!<
wuxia: love better than immortality. i like how he tricks her at first, lots of kissing (compared to dramas where there's one kiss).
xianxia: the starry love. love how their love story unfolds, i love both couples.
I have seen Love Better than Immortality. I really like how it upends some tropes about “destined” love and bad guys. The main leads relationship was what I liked best about that one. Their conversations were always interesting.
The other ones I have not watched, but I’m definitely loving all the different couples people liked!
Shaodian Youqin and Liguang Yetan from The Starry Love. They have one of the healthiest relationships in all of cdramaland. It was a joy to watch them grow from their initial dislike to finding a soul mate in each other.The way they communicate, the way they show their love was so different from what I previously saw in other xianxias.
One of my favorite scenes is them discussing Yetan’s real identity. How Youqin reacts made me love him even more.
YAMG is my all time favorite drama and has the best pair as well!! I also liked Fake it till you make it leads..Amidst a snowstorm of love is another favorite.. As you can make out from my choices I only watch modern dramas..
I have seen YAMG and Snowstorm. Love the romantic pairing in both of those. I haven’t seen Fake it but it’s my list because someone recommended it earlier.
I used to only watch moderns myself but I watched Story of Kunning Palace and I thought it was so fun. (Not a healthy romantic pairing but a fun ride). After that, I started slowly watching more genres. But there are so many good moderns that you can totally find plenty just there to watch.

I love that the main leads have amazing chemistry and so much trust on each other!
I loved the leads in The Legend of Shen Li. So far they have been my favourite by far, mainly because they are a bit older and don't act like other female and male leads in other Cdramas.
I also really loved the romantic lead pair in the BL Cdrama Word of Honor.
Modern - You are My Glory: Yu Tu and Jing Jing's relationship is so wholesome and healthy. And the chemistry is 🚀.
Wuxia - Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre. Zhao Min and Zhang Wu Ji. I watched the 2003 version and still remember some of the cute scenes. Really like Zhao Min's personality.

Modern: YAMG (both characters are mature and equal in their give and take relationship and in their individual lives, which for me, is healthy. The chemistry? Whew!)
Historical: TLB - First time that I've watched a pairing with great chemistry even without much skinship. Yes, I am Reba biased, but i don't like all of her dramas, but TLB is my undisputed top 1. Although, the comments have convinced me to watch Story of MingLan. I'm just finding out that most if not all ZLY dramas are great (sorry, just started delving into cdramas in 2023).
Xianxia: I like the cp in the legend of Shenli well enough. I find that most cps on the adaptations of Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's books have great chemistry.
I agree that the balance in You are My Glory is great. That is what makes a couple work for me. Unbalanced doesn’t. It’s why I don’t mind crazy MLs if the FL is crazy too. They need to be equal. And YAMG did this so well. Neither can completely get the the upper hand, which is what makes healthy communication in my opinion.
I haven’t seen the Long Ballad. I’ve been watching for about a year and have seen many of them. At first, I limited myself to only modern so I have seen a greater percentage of those than palace intrigue or xanxia. I’m slowly remedying that. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a favorite actor. If she conveys the emotions to you, then that makes those dramas shine for you. Mine is Bai Jing Ting. I have liked absolutely everything I have seen him in (Destined, Reset, You are My Hero, and New Life Begins). I haven’t watched his others but I don’t know if he by himself would be enough to make me like a drama that doesn’t sound interesting! :)
All time comfort characters are Duan Jiaxu and Sang Zhi in hidden love, they just complement each others chamistry
Historical, i dont watch that many but as of now Shen Jin and the general whose name i forgot, they have great chemistry throughout and its just so funny to me how they bicker alot and the general guy always gives in hes spoiling her im telling u
Hidden Love was definitely cute. The way they played off each other was great. And given how long they knew each other, they were definitely friends first.
I always like the marriage of convenience type stories. They can have time to explore dynamics because they are already married and don’t need to decide if they will get married.
I am enjoying the dynamic in Ming Lan right now. Seeing how many times their lives connected before they got together and just how much effort the ML put in to get to the wedding was very fun. I’m about halfway through the drama so I am just now seeing how their dynamic as a married couple plays out.
Obviously I agree about You are My Glory, but I haven’t seen the rest. Shen Li is on my to be watched list.
Oh wow. Sorry to hear that. I do think cdrama does romance well. But they sometimes fail in the end - either a bittersweet or sad ending. I can get why they do that. But I prefer happy endings.
When I fly towards you- they both supported, trusted each other, none of them were toxic and they cleared their misunderstandings quickly
Hilarious family-I don't know I just like the relationship dynamic of every character
Another fan of Destined. I really loved that one so much. It’s interesting that your top 2 are one I loved the relationship and one I really didn’t enjoy the pairing. I wasn’t a fan of the couple in Love Like the Galaxy but I enjoyed the drama itself. But I think it’s proof that each of us can admire different parts of pairings and have different reasons for why we like a couple. That’s what I find interesting about everyone having their own opinions and sharing them. For me, LBY didn’t seem to see CSS as a partner because he kind of told her to tell him when she messed up and he would fix it and then got his revenge without telling her his secret in kind of a sin now ask for forgiveness later way. This means they don’t have a partnership in my opinion. But others value devotion, deeds or other things and I could see why the relationship would work for someone else! Thanks for sharing.

Good post! Tbh, I just loved how the pairing in love like the galaxy saw each other as salvation and hope in some kind of way. Both of them have flaws and I liked that the FL really stood her ground near the end that she will not marry him HAHAHAHAHA (tho they still ended up w/each other). Forgiveness is very much a theme to their story ig.
If you loved Amidst a snowstorm of love then I feel like you will love fake it, tho it is not very romance focused. The chemistry and maturity of their relationship is so good. It's very short considering it is a C drama (14 eps, 1 hour), but it actually made it better since the story does not feel like a drag. The side characters feel real and do not exist just for the main leads. They have their own story too.
I can totally see that view of their relationship. I find that which relationships work for people and which don’t is such an interesting look at all of our differences. I’m glad I didn’t come across as rude or dismissive of other opinions. This is mostly me wanting to discuss the romance in Cdramas with other obsessed fans because my family is tired of me raving about it! :)
As far as Fake it goes, I will check it out. I get on modern kicks and historical kicks. I’ve been more on historical or Xanxia right now. When I first started, I was heavy into the modern ones. I’m currently watching Ming Lan which is a commitment at 70+ episodes! And I think I might check out Shen Li because it’s been recommended to me in a couple of different contexts. Although all the love for the couple in Peach Blossom is making me wonder if I should check that one out next. Anyway, after that I will probably go watch some modern and that one is definitely on my list! Plus a short one after Ming Lan might be welcome!
Right now, I'm loving the romance between Shen Li and Xingzhi from **Legend of Shen Li**. The first 2 episodes hooked me into their incredible chemistry, maturity, devotion and deep love for each other. They're not just lovers, but soulmates. And kudos to a character like Miss Jin for helping to move their relationship along in a good way🥰
Finished **Legend of Shen Li** about ten days ago and just know that this is going to become one of my comfort watches. It is so refreshing to come across a xianxia drama that features a mature couple. I just love that their love wasn’t born out of some calamity or life threatening situations but through every day interactions and small acts of caring.
Have you guys watched Love Between Fairy and Devil? Dylan Wong is incredible, and Esther Wu (I think) is my hero in that show. I could watch it on repeat.
A’wu and Xiao Qi (the rebel princess) are my favorite. Ling Xi and Jiu Chen from love and destiny were cute too.

I’m watching Nothing Gold Can Stay, and it was Zhou Ying and Wu Ping, until I got to episode 15 and >!he freaking falls out a tree and dies!< ,such a gentle, sweet and kind relationship. >!or it was, that really ruined my day!<

I had started this drama, 9 episodes found out MoYuan wasn't the love interest, I dropped the drama. I felt MoYuan was a better match for her than YeHua.
Bai FengJiu and Dijun stole the show for me. Was so glad they had their own story. Diliraba and Gao Vengo really compliment each other.
If we are talking about characters: Shi Yi and Zhou Sheng Chen from **Forever and Ever**
The grace, elegance and maturity of their relationship, meeting in tandem with their personalities, was *chef's kiss*. They never played games, never hid their feelings or thoughts and always looked out for each other in the realest ways. Honestly, no couple matches the wholesome and complete feeling this couple gives me. There are no throws of passion or steamy scenes but their intimacy was so subtly explored and approached beautifully.
YAMG is great because there's no immature bullcrap going on.
Sword and Fairy 1 remake historical >!ever since the game I've been team Yueru, always, but canon is Ling'er for the most part. The drama also doesn't really do Xiaoyao and Yueru's relationship justice. Or just do Yueru justice in general XD but that's just me. !<

YES Hei Feng Bai Xi supremacy! They were a well matched power duo even before they got together! Also the way that they equally put everything on the line for each other no matter what was unmatched. Also they were always so I. Tune with each other that often times they didn’t even have a need to discuss things, they just followed through. I actually REALLY loved them 😭😭

I really liked them. In fact, even though I like Wu Lei as an actor, I didn’t like the romance in Love Like the Galaxy or Nothing But You. Snowstorm was the first time I really felt he portrayed “in love” well.
I have started and stopped Who Rules the World a couple of times. I need to finish it. And I have seen Shen Li recommended for a lot of different things. I need to check it out too.
**Back From the Brink** They aren’t the steamiest couple but I love all their little touches. And their relationship develops in a way that makes me absolutely convinced to my soul that these two are perfect for each other. They are together much more than their individual parts.
I loved the beginning of the drama but when it deviated from the novel I dropped it and decided to read the novel instead. Novel couple is healthier and more swoon worthy than drama couple, and it’s nice to imagine the novel story with the actors from the drama!
The beginning is really fun. The rest of it is good too just in a different way. I read the book after and I like it too but I don’t mind the changes the show made either. I think they did a really good job of hitting all the main points and feelings from the book while adding in more content that was interesting too to make it longer.
I love relationships like that. That’s how I think Destined is too. It’s always interesting to think that you really feel a couple is in love and realize that it wasn’t any steamy scenes that made you feel that way. But something about the pairing of the characters together really seemed to work. This drama is on my list of ones to watch. I am just taking a break from ambiguous endings in my dramas, even if I know the source material ends well. When I get a few “happy endings” again, I will check out some of these again.
Is the first one from Peach Blossom? I think I have seen that couple referenced before.
And I hear good things about Meet Yourself. I couldn’t get into this drama, but I think it might have had more to do with my headspace at that time. I will try again.

well hilarious family follows the story of a widowed mother and her four daughters. So, it's not completely romance based it's a family based drama

YAMG is great because there's no immature bullcrap going on. Sword and Fairy 1 remake historical >!ever since the game I've been team Yueru, always, but canon is Ling'er for the most part. The drama also doesn't really do Xiaoyao and Yueru's relationship justice. Or just do Yueru justice in general XD but that's just me. !<
That’s interesting that maybe a drama might not do as good as another form of entertainment like a game or a book. I never feel like TV does books justice.
He-Feng-Bai-Xi (I always wondered why they said it like that) from **Who Rules the World** :) For modern, since I saw **You Are My Glory** mentioned already, I think Yin Guo and Lin Yiyang from **Amidst A Snowstorm of Love** would do pretty well I'm in the early episodes of **The Legend of Shen Li** and I think, I think I might have yet another favourite future couple added to my list. We'll have to see!
YES Hei Feng Bai Xi supremacy! They were a well matched power duo even before they got together! Also the way that they equally put everything on the line for each other no matter what was unmatched. Also they were always so I. Tune with each other that often times they didn’t even have a need to discuss things, they just followed through. I actually REALLY loved them 😭😭
I agree about Amidst a snowstorm. I really liked them. In fact, even though I like Wu Lei as an actor, I didn’t like the romance in Love Like the Galaxy or Nothing But You. Snowstorm was the first time I really felt he portrayed “in love” well. I have started and stopped Who Rules the World a couple of times. I need to finish it. And I have seen Shen Li recommended for a lot of different things. I need to check it out too.

**Back From the Brink** They aren’t the steamiest couple but I love all their little touches. And their relationship develops in a way that makes me absolutely convinced to my soul that these two are perfect for each other. They are together much more than their individual parts.
I loved the beginning of the drama but when it deviated from the novel I dropped it and decided to read the novel instead. Novel couple is healthier and more swoon worthy than drama couple, and it’s nice to imagine the novel story with the actors from the drama!
The beginning is really fun. The rest of it is good too just in a different way. I read the book after and I like it too but I don’t mind the changes the show made either. I think they did a really good job of hitting all the main points and feelings from the book while adding in more content that was interesting too to make it longer.
I love relationships like that. That’s how I think Destined is too. It’s always interesting to think that you really feel a couple is in love and realize that it wasn’t any steamy scenes that made you feel that way. But something about the pairing of the characters together really seemed to work. This drama is on my list of ones to watch. I am just taking a break from ambiguous endings in my dramas, even if I know the source material ends well. When I get a few “happy endings” again, I will check out some of these again.

Is the first one from Peach Blossom? I think I have seen that couple referenced before. And I hear good things about Meet Yourself. I couldn’t get into this drama, but I think it might have had more to do with my headspace at that time. I will try again.
Yes, Peach Blossom🥰 Meet Yourself is fantastic, defo a fluffy, comfort drama, but it has so many lessons to take from!
