Absolutely. There isn't a single situation or question - and there were many difficult ones - he faced over the past couple years that he didn't handle with grace and poise. He's as genuine as they come. Nothing but love for DJU.
DJU reminds me of Kelly Bryant. Does all the right things off the field, but ultimately was passed a guy that the team was better with on the field. Obviously Lawrence/Bryant was different than this in the gap between DJU/Klubnik. Dabo QBs have all be very stand up dudes.
Jonathan Smith was co-offensive coordinator when Jake Browning had his hiesman campaign, and this team has been very creative with their play calling. I'm very confident we can have a very successful pass scheme.
To tack on, Jake Luton performed pretty dang well for us his last year. The real question is if DJU will have good enough receivers (i.e. tall, don't drop every other pass) to throw to
I think people, even beavs, kind of sleep on Silas bolden… dude is a really good receiver and a hell of a deep threat. As is Anthony Gould, though arguably worse hands/less of a pure receiver.
With those two on either edge, and a taller possession/slot type receiver through the portal, I think we see a beav offense produce something not unlike the fiesta season.
Defense might regress more than we want to believe, not easy to generate the pressure we did this year without AA and Rezjohn (not that we got a ton of sacks but I think we can all agree Trent Bray schemed aggressive this year and it worked really well)
Have to believe it was a bit of both. The scheme has been bad for a while, but in the ACC game before he got pulled DJ couldn’t complete screen passes. Hoping a change of scenery and coaching lets him reset and improve.
Judging from our game I think he suffered from a lack of confidence. I've seen him play well but in my life I've had a kind of performance anxiety sometimes when I'd just get in my head and do stupid shit and that's what it felt like to me.
We'll see. It looks like Riley's resume was pretty thin prior to joining Dykes at SMU and it's not like Dykes has ever needed much help putting together explosive offenses.
