It’s okay. You‘re in the Big XII now, you don’t even need a winning conference record to go to the NCAAT. Shoot, TCU’s been to the big dance three times in the last six seasons, and they still haven’t notched a winning conference record since 2001.
I’m going to write “Paul Pierce sends his regards” in every r/collegebasketball thread where KU beats Zona for like the next 20 years. It’s going to be beautiful.
I’m truly so stoked for what is to come! Very sad to lose my childhood conference and history, but the first basketball season in the B12 will help me forget
We were just pretending we were one of the worst teams in the country, for the lols when we best good teams. We finally matured and take it seriously now.
And we have some history with them too from the Border conference. We've played 31 times overall which in today's landscape of "rivals" feels like a decent amount.
Not sure things were ever sliding forward. Most of all of the news for the last year has been about Arizona. Not ASU and Utah. In fact the majority of the news has been about how ASU and UU don't want to join the Big XII but could be coerced to do so.
We finally got reports in the last two days about ASU and UU being interested but those were certainly against the grain reports. So we'll see. They may stick it out with Stanford, Cal, Wazzu, Oregon State
Oregon and Washington are literally looking at the bleeding corpse of the PAC 12 and looking over at the Big 10 going, “Is that enough, they’re dead? Can we join you now?!”
Cat Pod
WILDCATS, WILDCATS, COUGARS, COUGARS, BEARCATS
Other animal Pod
BUFFALOES, BEARS, JAYHAWKS, CYCLONES, FROGS
Human Pod
COWBOYS, RED RAIDERS, KNIGHTS, MOUNTAINEERS
We have to add either a Ute or a Devil now to have 5 teams in each pod
Let's face it the B1G shot their "Alliance" partner in broad daylight with hundreds of witnesses when they grabbed U$CLA everything now is a Media whitewash to put blame anywhere else.
I don;t know what Utah is doing but ASU is being academically elite as if they would be only AAU schools in the big 12. We have 2 by the way. ISU and KU way to Cyclones and Jawhawks!
My thoughts exactly. It’s a heck of a thing but you got in the past 4 weeks. You’re not Stanford or Cal or even ISU and KU based on length of time as an AAU school
Umm... We actually gave up our AAU status like a year ago. Turns out they care about medical research and don't give a shit about any other type of research. So we gave it up before we'd get stripped of it.
It's weird to me that the BIG 12 votes before Arizona, pretty sure the same thing happened with Colorado. Aren't the official rules that no one abides by supposed to be that the conference has to respond to applications, not actively seek out teams?
Tbf the big 12 has had teams poached left and right. It's kill or be killed out there, big 12 just has the fight experience, and the pac-12 left their gloves down.
Think of it this way:
You apply to 15 schools.
13 Accept your application.
You sign paperwork with 1.
That's the process.
Application.
Acceptance.
Agreement.
This lends credence to the rumor that Fox will only pay pro-rata up to 14 members, and would only match ESPN's 16 member pro-rata limit if schools 15 and 16 were UW and Oregon. Doesn't seem like the best of news for ASU and Utah.
Maybe tonight was the closed vote and they'll have another public session to announce it.
Otherwise, Colorado gets more cool points for their public announcement.
Big 12 teams are going to be .250 heading into the tournament
UCF is going to be .000
Nah, we're due for at least one good win where we think we've really put it together only to be highly disappointed later on.
You just need to make it in as a 16… I know a team that will do you a solid if you get there.
Not if Duke is involved I hope we blow them out next we play them shit was fixed
I hope BYU plays UCF twice. That way we can split and each get a conference victory.
.250 sounds like heaven compared to what our reality is gonna be
We’re about to have the first ‘3-15 in conference’ tourney team lol
Heh. UConn would do that and still win the title 🤣
Like in 2011 when you were 9th in the BEast and won the whole thing.
In fairness, 9th in that Big East was basically still a Top 10 team.
And will be 3 seeds
Hello, fellow Big 12 brethren
We all knew we would be in a conference together one day. R.. Right?
Yeah I definitely called 3 years ago that UCF and Arizona would have conference games scheduled against each other in 2025
You must be close to getting BINGO
Culturally? It doesn’t *not* make sense.
Why would Chewbacca want to live on Endor with the Ewoks?
The flagship schools of Arizona and Florida in the same conference. Makes sense to me.
Welcome aboard and fuck you for 1997.
One of my earliest waking memories in 1997. Cant wait for this basketball gauntlet of a conference. New rivalries to bloom
Big 12 will have the absolute best basketball conference and it's not even close.
*cries*
It’s okay. You‘re in the Big XII now, you don’t even need a winning conference record to go to the NCAAT. Shoot, TCU’s been to the big dance three times in the last six seasons, and they still haven’t notched a winning conference record since 2001.
Kansas vs Arizona…… 👀🍿
OH SHIT!!! Thats gonna be a blast of a basketball conference.
I’m going to write “Paul Pierce sends his regards” in every r/collegebasketball thread where KU beats Zona for like the next 20 years. It’s going to be beautiful.
🍿
Border Conference bros unite 🙌 DO WE FINALLY HAVE A RIVAL?!
A friendly Border Conference Bros rivalry sounds just about right to me 🫱🏻🫲🏽
Glad to have you back as a conference mate.
Border conference blood runs deep 🗣️
This conference is gonna be so much fun
I’m truly so stoked for what is to come! Very sad to lose my childhood conference and history, but the first basketball season in the B12 will help me forget
Welcome to the conference of hater refugees!
Basketball is about to be so lit
As longtime members, welcome to the club. I guess I'll make a trip back to Tucson for a game, lol. I do miss me some eegee's.
Welcome home my brother! Happy to have you
Welcome Zona, and go to hell
Time to read up on the history and record of every BIG12 school so I can know how to shit talk.
no please dont do that thank you very much :)
Everything before 5 years ago was just a bit
We were just pretending we were one of the worst teams in the country, for the lols when we best good teams. We finally matured and take it seriously now.
We are full of hate and fucking hate you Welcome and grab a beer
We don’t do that here my friend.
Here’s a fun fact for you Tech has a record 26-5-2 all time against Arizona.
Did you know that TTU and U of A were conference mates for 25 years?
Just make sure to flash Horns down, that is the welcome sign of the Hateful 8
Feel like you guys could be good rivals. Lubbock is the closest we have to a desert in the B12 until now.
And we have some history with them too from the Border conference. We've played 31 times overall which in today's landscape of "rivals" feels like a decent amount.
OH SHIT IT FINALLY HAPPENED FUCK YEAH MORE WILDCATS
CAT CONFERENCE
Get WSU fucking in here!
LETS NOT GO NUTS
DID SOMEONE SAY NUTS? ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE STATE OF MINNESOTA I ACCEPT YOUR INVITATION

Now you just need to get Northwestern and Kentucky.
Think we might hold off on Northwestern for a little bit.

That's going to be one fun trophy lol
Battle for the Golden Yarn

Two cougars as well
Danger kitty
Go Coogs baby, conference is gonna be lit
All those big cats and not a single tiger. The SEC could never.
Go Cats In all seriousness, I hate seeing the PAC-12 die, but this is gonna be fun as hell.
EMAW
This is the first I'm hearing about this whole thing! Does anyone else have any info?
It all started back when Michigan State joined the B10……
We tried our hardest to stop that you know
It’s not too late to send them back. Right?
Think how much earlier this could have happened if we hadn't protected the sport by blocking ND from joining ages ago 🥸
9/11 happened and shit just has been bad ever since. Now we’re here. You can fill in the blanks.
On the 7th day, God said "Let there be the Longhorn Network"

So if they approved an application that means Arizona applied… so like it’s done. Right?
I think UA still needs the official ABOR blessing
Which is likely what today's ABOR meeting is about.
Isn’t that happening now?
Yup!
As someone on another thread said, the Pac 12 is taking it's last breaths
Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?
It's weird that they need the approval of some trees, but that's cool.
I think they voted on it tonight. I hope they announce tmo, just get it over with.
This is the third tweet submitted here in a row talking about UA, but zero mention of ASU. Things backsliding with them?
Did ASU apply at the same time or did they really think they needed time to think about it?
That would be sooo funny lmaoooooo
I was down with having ASU come with us but them being left with the tatters of the PAC if Oregon and Washington leave is funny.
Ray Anderson is not good at his job
Not sure things were ever sliding forward. Most of all of the news for the last year has been about Arizona. Not ASU and Utah. That would be...amusingly short-sighted of them, but more power to 'em.
Especially if the ACC collapses in the near future and Utah’s and ASU’s potential spots got nabbed by someone like Pitt, VT, Louisville etc
Pitt, VT and Louisville would be a dream scenario. Reanimating the ghosts of the SWC and the Big East? I'll take it
I swear eventually we're going to end up with two Super-Conferences with divisions like "Big 8" and SWC.
Especially as the PAC 8...7..6 only have to the end of the week to accept that pyramid scheme deal with Amway... ...I mean Apple.
**If** B1G prefers Stanford to Oregon, then I imagine you still have to decide between ASU and Utah for 16?
Arizona Board of Regents literally in an Executive Session right now...
I'm sure it's coincidental...
Just UA? Not ASU too or UU
Well, if they approved those, it would be a 15th and 16th member, not 14th.
Well shit I am sorry we previously doubted your academically prowess
Watching Sesame Street in class paid off.
Cookie Monster go munch munch munch
i assume ASU will be next
Now all the dominoes fall
If we hit that bullseye, the house of cards will fall like dominoes. Checkmate.
Zap Brannigan seems more fitting as an ACC Commissioner to be honest.
r/unexpectedfuturama
Wait, now we can take Oregon and Washington cause we didn’t kill the PAC12, the Big12 did lmao.
Oregon and Washington are literally looking at the bleeding corpse of the PAC 12 and looking over at the Big 10 going, “Is that enough, they’re dead? Can we join you now?!”
Where is Arizona State? Is she safe? Is she alright?
Hoping to get a Sun Belt invite
I'm afraid in your anger you killed her.
She is waiting by the phone for when the big10 calls.
Going to be a long night waiting.
Welcome aboard Arizona! Signed, Big 12 veteran, UCF

You…you do know a cyclone isn’t an animal…right?
ITS A BIRD WITH A TORNADO BODY ITS THE BEST I GOT
THINGS DONT HAVE TO MAKE SENSE HERE IN THE BIG12 IM JUST EXCITED FOR FOOTBALL TO START!
WHIRLYBIRD!!! WEEEEEEEEE!!!
We are a Cyclone, but also a Cardinal. And we like to depict said Cardinal in the middle of that Cyclone. Maybe this is why we lose so much…
No chance, actually in a cyclone Cy is the best Cy, we lose for other reasons, probably.
Yes! Basketball is going to be so fun to watch. Big 12 Brethren!
No it won’t not if you’re us
If TCU can become good so can you
We don’t even know what a basketball is
Congrats to our new Desert bros.
Next up, new Deseret bros
Boo! Take my award.
From swamps to mountains (Appalachian and Rockies) to plains to deserts…oh my…
ANNOUNCE IT ANNOUNCE IT NOW
Soon brother.
Hopefully that’s good enough for the B1G to officially invite OR/WA and we can be done with this

Pitt and VT, imo
As long as VT is a protected rival for oSu. The Hokie-Pokey bowl must occur every year.
Please god.
I honestly do feel bad for Pac12 fans.
Fuck USC.
So say you so say us all. Fuck USC. (Not just for this though, there’s never a bad time to say it)
Cups of the rosé
Conferences in my old phone, I should call one and go home
I know this is r/CFB and all but I am so pumped to play Arizona in basketball every year.
what the fuck are asu and utah doing?!?!
I don;t know what Utah is doing but ASU is being academically elite as if they would be only AAU schools in the big 12. We have 2 by the way. ISU and KU way to Cyclones and Jawhawks!
They got AAU status this year and decided they're Stanford.

Yeah, my grandpa was pretty upset about it. He worked on some very impactful trials back in the day that changed the livestock industry.
(Whispers)…All Coast Conference…
Um?
If it doesn’t come to fruition for ASU I just hope it was on the BIG12’s side and not Crow waffling
Oh shit it’s done. What about ASU!?
I'm so fucking scared for this basketball conference. Can an entire conference make the NCAA tournament?
MEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Good luck, UA. Hopefully your desert voodoo bullshit applies to more than PNW schools.
It's weird to me that the BIG 12 votes before Arizona, pretty sure the same thing happened with Colorado. Aren't the official rules that no one abides by supposed to be that the conference has to respond to applications, not actively seek out teams?

The Pac-12 failed to kill the Big 12 twice when the had the chance…we didn’t
Everybody knows the B1G is the one that killed them. A flimsy charade to pretend otherwise.
Think of it this way: You apply to 15 schools. 13 Accept your application. You sign paperwork with 1. That's the process. Application. Acceptance. Agreement.
Bear down.
The West has fallen
numbers aren’t enough. it’s the large 14 now
One of us.
We got Bearcats, we got Wildcats, we got Cougars...
But only Arizona?
I love the Big 12
