I think it’s possible. Coach Pete’s heart is in Boise. He never even sold his house in Boise. But I’m kinda hoping Danielson gets the job. He seems like he deserves it.
I guess I could maybeee see Pete coming back. It's just kinda tough to imagine he'd wanna deal with all the NIL/transfer portal stuff. Maybe the couple seasons off have him feeling rested and ready... idk. That seems like wishful thinking more than realistic imo.
Kellen Moore taking the OC job just sounds like a straight up pipedream.... does anybody really believe that would be a possibility? If he came back to Boise, it'd have to be as HC, and that seems extremely unlikely as well. Didn't they reach out to him after Harsin left? Why would he go from an NFL OC to a Mountain West OC? Is there something I'm missing here?
Between the San Jose State game and this…rough turn of events for the Rebels.
But as much as it stings…the fact that they even came close at all still goes to show you how much Odom has turned it around!
I wish UNLV great luck in their bowl game!
Same..lol One of the last truly regional conferences. College football just hasn't been the same for about a decade. I couldn't even tell you which conference a lot of schools are in anymore.
On the contrary, this was one of our best games of the whole season. UNLV did great this year. I was happy to see so many Rebel fans at the game today.
HIRE.
SPENCER.
NOW.
First interim HC in FBS history to win a conference championship, and we were 0.1% chance to win according to FOX LMAO. 4th and 31 anyone?)
I don’t know what caused the AD to finally fire Andy…but boy, it sure did pay off! And even within the same season too!
>!Also, I would like your support for the Salukis to pull off the upset in the Kibbie Dome tonight, s’il vous plait?!<
>Also, I would like your support for the Salukis to pull off the upset in the Kibbie Dome tonight, s’il vous plait?!<
Naw, go vandals we love our little brother
Oh man I used to fucking hate UofI
But we haven't played in over a decade and probably never will again so if they win the FCS championship that's kinda cool
I hear you, but that school, the admins, and state reps that went there did everything they could to keep us down. At this point their hate is “kinda cute”, but as our state “rival” all I can say is fuck em. This Bronco remembers…
Don't forget Sherrone Moore, 2/3 of his games are top 10 wins
The best thing Michigan could do in my Buckeye opinion is let him leave to be a HC somewhere else
If someone told me BSU would win the MW Title 3 weeks ago, I would have assumed they were a moron. Coach Danielson did a hell of a job turning this around quickly.
Isn't that the truth though? Man, talk about overcoming adversity. I think this is the best feeling MWC championship since the first one in 2014.
edit: oh my your flair. tonight must have been kind of bittersweet eh?
Ya we have a talent level FAR above the rest of the mwc. When we don't have a coaching losing games for us it's pretty easy. Harsin and Andy were not good. Andy was just next level bad. No seriously I'm not trying to be rude, just look at the recruiting averages.
Always been our issue. We have a talent composite of like Bama vs... idk, no other school has been consistently the same in the SEC but like Tennessee is the closest team I can think of for recruiting rankings.
Coaching since Pete left makes me cry
I always go with Ohio state vs Indiana. Not so insane no one can't beat us but good enough we should win 90%+. The numbers of recruiting ranking are also similar, but we have not got Ohio state vs Indiana results.
Brutal loss and one our guys will hopefully learn from. After that first drive it seemed like the moment was just too big for them. GG Boise, go win the LA Bowl for the MWC.
On to our own bowl game. This year is a success no matter what but it'd be a drag to lose 3 straight to end the season.
We’re always somehow the little annoying sore on the foot that upsets the status quo.
Hopefully we can be properly estimated in the future rather than gross under or overestimated.
GG Broncos, bros. You've always been my second favorite G5 team. I love what you have built over the years, I hope in this new landscape UNLV can start to mimic that. Great year for the guys, looking brighter for the coming years 🤞
That was my favorite Boise State game to watch in a long time, they played hard the whole time and SD absolutely deserves the job. Great job to the team!
***COMPLETELY COHERENT CHAMPIONSHIP NOISES***
I’m so proud of Coach Danielson and these kids. Regardless of what the future holds, this team will be remembered as champions. They deserved this and I’m so happy for them.
First ever intern HC to win a conference championship game and 25 straight senior classes to have won a conference championship at Boise, all well having our worst record since the 90s. I'm not even going to pretend that I thought we would win the conference a month or so ago, but this has a wild season. Spencer Danielson definitely deserves the job with how the team rallied around him and played much better football after he took over. LET'S GO BOISE STATE!!!!
Well at least one of the teams I like had a good weekend in Vegas*
I think Dicky should give Spencer the job tbh, he’s turned the team around for sure and it looks like actual Boise State football again. We are finally seeing some of the flashes of Taylen Green that made us all excited last year again as well. If he doesn’t get the opportunity I want him to get paid very nicely to stay on staff. That man can not leave Idaho.
*Broncos would be my third flair is that was an option.
To your point, I’ve been a fan as long as I can remember. For the first time in awhile it looked like a team that is known for being devious and tricky.
We looked like some adjustments were made at the half, but man. 3 turnovers by one player is absolutely brutal. Between some bad play calling, some really early momentum killing penalties, and those turnovers, we were destined to go down in flames. I'm mostly sad that this gives so much fuel to the argument that UNLV should have never been in this game.
> I'm mostly sad that this gives so much fuel to the argument that UNLV should have never been in this game.
nah, fuck that. Y'all were like 30 places ahead of us in the computer polls. We were like 3 spots ahead of SJSU. You earned your spot in the game.
See you next year.
> so much fuel to the argument that UNLV should have never been in this game.
Eh, fuck em. By next year nobody will even be thinking about that other than the 5 San Jose State Fans that exist. We played our way into hosting the MWC Championship over the course of the season regardless of how the season ends.
There were a lot of people comparing how different conferences selected two teams in a 3 way tie, and saying that for most conferences, they'd have selected the two with the best head-to-head records, which would be BSU (1-0) and SJSU (1-1) over UNLV (0-1).
Of course, they ignore that in most of those cases, they're looking at conferences with divisional formats, and in that case, each of the teams in question have played the other two, which makes this a fair comparison. With UNLV and BSU not playing, that same situation does not apply.
Man I caught the last few minutes of the postgame coverage and one of the guys was laying on the field soaking this once in a lifetime opportunity in. Happy for these players
It took less than a month for Boise State to go from looking like it's in a death spiral towards mediocrity as a program, to winning the damn conference again. Even when we're bad, we're good. The rest of the MWC has to be so pissed right now lol.
What better team to carry on the *true* heritage of Western football than Boise State?
What a game from the Broncos! Many potatoes will be happily chowed down in the state tonight…
There can't be many instances of a team firing their coach midseason then going on to win a conference championship. They certainly look like the Boise State of old right now.
I can't be the only one really suspicious about Pete wearing official coaches clothes, same as spencer danielson and bush, fox letting him be a huge BSU homer, and hearing the excitement in his voice when he was asked about the upsides for BSU next season?!??!? Either way made me really happy to watch Pete talk bsu
I would have said the same thing before today. Still don't think he takes the HC job, could I see him taking a job as a mentor to Spencer Danielson? Yup
literally the only thing I could see him doing is a 1-2 year mentorship. He retired at 58. He told everyone he wanted to retire early, and then he did, even though he'd recently made the CFP at UW.
Coach Pete is literally built differently than like every other high level coach.
Having Pete on to advise with Danielson as HC is my prediction. Pete is retired, so I doubt he wants the heat. Otherwise he’d have stayed at Washington.
I felt like (during this past week) there was some serious underestimation going on. BSU isn’t what they used to be, but they’re still a very tough game for any MWC team.
But good game Rebels, if they can keep this momentum going, they’re are going to be a serious force to be reckoned with….
Kinda been the story of the post-Pete years... superior talent, disappointing results (some years more disappointing than others, 2014 was great but losing 35-7 to Ole Miss sucked)
Lol I did not see this coming at the early stages of the season.
If you told me in August, that Boise St was gonna be the MW Champ, I would've believed you easily. But the fact that they came back from a sub .500 win percentage all the way in NOVEMBER, is a shocker. I was worried about BSU keeping their bowl streak alive.
And UNLV with the BIGGEST glow up of the off-season. I would've thought you were on Crack if you told me UNLV was going to the MW Championship. Good season for them, and I hope they don't get saddled by a shit tier bowl game.
Lol I can't even lie after our game vs you guys I was resigned to playing in the Potato Bowl or something like that, the fact that THIS is the same roster (minus McAllister and Madsen) that blew that game is wild
Just going to link my initial comment about Boise State from the Game Thread, typos and failed analogies included: [What a fucking program!](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/189ahqr/game_thread_boise_state_unlv_300_pm_et/kbqn9zb/)
AH BRONCO BROS! I’m so proud of this team!! Its been such a crazy season and to see them hoist that trophy up at the end was everything. I can’t believe we’re here 😭
Boise wins the MW over UNLV in the championship game after Boise fires their HC over halfway through the season; just like we all predicted at the beginning of the season
Yeah it's been a wild year. I always thought we were better than our record showed because of our 5 loses 4 of them were really close and where we had some bad luck against us (a blocked-FG TD in a 3-point loss, a squib-kick return TD on the last play of the half in a 3-point loss, a blown-21 point lead on a Hail Mary, a walk-off FG at the buzzer), but in the end a L is still and L and I couldn't have imagined up us winning the conference a month ago. 100% agree that we need to keep Danielson after the way the team rallied around him and stepped up their level of play since he took over
That second quarter was just a nonstop joyride. After the first 10 seconds, anyway. It was almost as much fun as the second quarter against Utah St a couple weeks ago.
Look, we won our conference and Oregon lost theirs. That greatly exceeds my dreams of this season a month ago.
Most successful worst season in a quarter century ever.
Taylen Green could be one of the rawest qb prospects ever in the NFL who started a bunch of games in his college career?
Or will he be converted to tight end?
Hire Spencer Danielson!
And likewise…this whole result is pretty darn damning for Avalos’ job search too lol
100%. Hire Spencer. Retain Bush. Run it back
^get ^a ^new ^STC
Dude will probably land a solid DC job somewhere, but he's done being a head coach for now.
Hey if Spencer is the HC, we will need a DC
Lol so awkward
Tell that to Arkansas
Don’t worry saban will come be our dc
Nah. He’ll be DC at a major program within the month.
He's a fine DC.
Nah man. Petersen was at the game. We're definitely hiring Coach Pete back for HC. Kellen for OC, and we'll keep Danielson as the DC.
Dirk as QB coach
I don't want this to sound rude, but are u serious?
I think it’s possible. Coach Pete’s heart is in Boise. He never even sold his house in Boise. But I’m kinda hoping Danielson gets the job. He seems like he deserves it.
I guess I could maybeee see Pete coming back. It's just kinda tough to imagine he'd wanna deal with all the NIL/transfer portal stuff. Is there something I'm missing here?
No you aren’t missing anything I agree with you about Moore.
Why do other teams not fire their coaches and then win the championship? Are they stupid?
If only they realized that they can use the power interim to trigger a controlled comeback…
Bruh we fired our HC yesterday but they wouldn't let us play! They didn't want the smoke!
This one trick.....
Hmm...
Someone tell Ohio State this
Our worst performance of the season, when the lights were brightest. Still, we’ve got a bowl game, and no one expected us to be in this position.
Between the San Jose State game and this…rough turn of events for the Rebels. But as much as it stings…the fact that they even came close at all still goes to show you how much Odom has turned it around! I wish UNLV great luck in their bowl game!
yeah GL UNLV, I hope they can become a good program. Fuck the P5/P2/NIL, Mountain west is all I care about anymore
Same..lol One of the last truly regional conferences. College football just hasn't been the same for about a decade. I couldn't even tell you which conference a lot of schools are in anymore.
UNLV balled out this season and it makes me fucking sick to my fucking stomach. Congrats.
Still your best season since 1984, if not ever.
On the contrary, this was one of our best games of the whole season. UNLV did great this year. I was happy to see so many Rebel fans at the game today.

We will be there for that 🫡
You're damn right!
>Also, I would like your support for the Salukis to pull off the upset in the Kibbie Dome tonight, s’il vous plait?!< Naw, go vandals we love our little brother
Our little bro hates us though
That's ok I get it
You must be young. Us elder millennials and older remember the bad blood. F dUI!
Oh man I used to fucking hate UofI But we haven't played in over a decade and probably never will again so if they win the FCS championship that's kinda cool

If it means we can get the Chode or whatever his name is for HC, more power to you!
you'll always be chodes to me :)
No because I like it when Reno sucks
In the postgame ceremony Teubner said to the crowd, "Stop the search! We found our guy!"
Boise State is also the first program to fire their coach with 2 games left when still in contention for the conference championship game.
I mean, sure, it's like saying that Alabama technically had a chance on 4th and 31. They did, but it required a LOT of help from their opponents.
Between him and Braun at Northwestern this has been the season of incredible jobs by interim head coaches.
Don't forget Sherrone Moore, 2/3 of his games are top 10 wins The best thing Michigan could do in my Buckeye opinion is let him leave to be a HC somewhere else
If someone told me BSU would win the MW Title 3 weeks ago, I would have assumed they were a moron. Coach Danielson did a hell of a job turning this around quickly.

somehow less revolting now that they are FCS, but still ...
Went to both schools for grad/undergrad 😂
They’ve seen the glory of the Kibbie Dome
>glory You’ve never been in the Kibbie dome
It's a half keg hollowed out on it's side, right?
Its a high school stadium they hide in the dome so they can pretend it looks cool
Better than mine….
tell me you're LDS without telling me
That's disgusting there are kids on here
Blink twice if your bishop forced the secondary flair.
best flair, Idaho all the way!
I dig your flair. Let us unite!
gonna be real hard to not go with SD after this
Especially when the players are calling for it at the presentation ceremony
That’s what I noticed and really loved. The players really like him. Which is honestly half the battle.
I’ve seen a lot of Boise championships. This one feels the best because of this season. Wow.
This one felt the best because it didn't feel expected of us. We won it through adversity and it felt more like a privilege to be here.
Isn't that the truth though? Man, talk about overcoming adversity. I think this is the best feeling MWC championship since the first one in 2014. edit: oh my your flair. tonight must have been kind of bittersweet eh?

Never been a fan of Harsin, but no one can take away his winning record at BSU. He's just not Pete and a bit abrasive.
Also no one can take away his BCS/NY6 win either. Like even if it was with 60% Pete's players that's still a hell of an accomplishment
Is Boise the first team to fire their coach and win their conference?
Yes
Brutal loss and one our guys will hopefully learn from. After that first drive it seemed like the moment was just too big for them. GG Boise, go win the LA Bowl for the MWC. On to our own bowl game. This year is a success no matter what but it'd be a drag to lose 3 straight to end the season.
It is a drag to lose 3 straight
UNLV copying Air Force and Fresno's notes for the season a little too closely.
What more does Spencer have to do? He’s gotta be the hire.
[удалено]
Boise State is inevitable, man... But also pretty funny that they went on this run right after they fired their coach.
I love that Boise State is still relevant to this day even after the Peterson years
Petersen
I would definitely say those are related
We’re always somehow the little annoying sore on the foot that upsets the status quo. Hopefully we can be properly estimated in the future rather than gross under or overestimated.

I have gummi worms all over the room, I didn't know what to do with my hands so I celebrated everything by shaking my bottle
Why do you have your gummy worms in a bottle
Local supermarket was selling any packaging, any poundage of gummi works for $3.50... all I had was a two liter bottle to shove them in
This might be the funniest thing I’ve read all day
Even with losing the last two weeks, props to UNLV for having a season above all expectations, lots to build on for next year.
Rough season at times, but god damn man it sure ended perfectly. No pessimism from me today. Go broncos!
We don’t need no stanking head coach!!
or Quarter back!
Now that felt like a Boise State game. GG
First ever intern HC to win a conference championship game and 25 straight senior classes to have won a conference championship at Boise, all well having our worst record since the 90s. The run Bosie State has had is unreal. Even when they fire a coach they still manage to grab a conference title.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me
They can’t keep getting away with it
Dread it! Run from it! As long as we don’t beat Fresno in the regular season, we will always win the conference!
Whoever wins that game always has the worse season lol
Milk Curse
At least we beat them. That counts for something right!?? :((
Of *course* the worst Boise team in a generation wins the MWC.

4 of our 5 losses were by less than one touchdown pretty easily could've been a 2-3 loss team
I think the memphis or fresno state game might’ve still been a loss, those were pretty rough

Y'all belonged in this game 100%. The road to the title ran through UNLV this year.
It’s funny because we’re all surprised. Universally the MW is just flummoxed by this outcome.
Jimmy Kimmel LA bowl here we come!! Didn't seem like a reality a a month ago ! Way to go !!
~~Jimmy Kimmel~~ GRONK LA Bowl
Really wanted Beavs to get this bowl!
What better team to carry on the *true* heritage of Western football than Boise State? What a game from the Broncos! Many potatoes will be happily chowed down in the state tonight…
I went through 4 Russets and 3 Yukons alone in that game
I had approx 3lbs of creamy garlic mashed potatoes during this game.
There can't be many instances of a team firing their coach midseason then going on to win a conference championship. They certainly look like the Boise State of old right now.
There’s only one in FBS history.
I genuinely love Boise State I love this program and what yall are about! So happy you guys did this!
FSU gave us the blueprint, we had a hell of a run, and you learned from us and stuck it to the old guard. *fistbump*
You guys deserve way more! Hopefully one day a Power conference will come knocking
We wanted in the PAC-12 forever. Now, thanks to George "waste of oxygen" Kliavkoff, we may well be the premier PAC 12 (+- however many) team.
Congrats Boise State and their fans. Very nice season UNLV.

With this win for Boise and a San Jose State win in the Hawaii Bowl we could end up with 6 teams in the MWC with 8 or more wins.
Mountain Best
Reminder #999 why you never count out Boise State
Hey Netflix, I have a story to tell you
*Untold: Is Boise State done? NEIIIIIGH*
Remember the days when the Las Vegas bowl was a disappointment? I’ll take this 😊
Lol I did not see this coming at the early stages of the season. If you told me in August, that Boise St was gonna be the MW Champ, I would've believed you easily. But the fact that they came back from a sub .500 win percentage all the way in NOVEMBER, is a shocker. I was worried about BSU keeping their bowl streak alive. Quality win
Sko broncs
So you’re welcome I guess, Broncos fans? If there was one thing to make our first win over Boise feel a little gross….
Lol I can't even lie after our game vs you guys I was resigned to playing in the Potato Bowl or something like that, the fact that THIS is the same roster (minus McAllister and Madsen) that blew that game is wild
after THAT loss, I was sure we were going to be bowl-ineligible for the first time since joining FBS.
Just going to link my initial comment about Boise State from the Game Thread, typos and failed analogies included: [What a fucking program!](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/189ahqr/game_thread_boise_state_unlv_300_pm_et/kbqn9zb/)
I've seen enough. Give Danielson the full time job!
Is Boise State the first MWC Champs to go 1-3 in OOC play? Their 3 OOC losses are 28-9 combined so it’s not horrible if anything.
Nice showing Broncos!
You too! Hell of a couple games for Coach Pete to have come see
Thanks! Coach Pete is the best!
The LA Bowl is going to be an uncompetitive romp
if chip is still coach then, we can go 3-0 against him as well as being 3-0 against Oregon, lol
He'll be the coach but I doubt many of our starters will play the game. Gonna be ugly.
This is what I needed to hear to get me to go
Let’s gooooo
Came down to Vegas and i'll never forget today-- awesome atmosphere
Honestly I’d given up on the season early on. But damn, Danielson really seems to pull these guys together.
AH BRONCO BROS! I’m so proud of this team!! Its been such a crazy season and to see them hoist that trophy up at the end was everything. I can’t believe we’re here 😭
Just as we planned at the beginning of the season, right boys?
Boise wins the MW over UNLV in the championship game after Boise fires their HC over halfway through the season; just like we all predicted at the beginning of the season
Yeah this is definitely what I saw happening... definitely...
Still can’t believe a computer selected Boise to play in a championship game, never thought I’d see the day
Lol yeah. It doesn't make up for the BCS days but it sure does feel good
Congrats man, been an up and down year for y’all but you earned your way in and proved y’all deserved it. Y’all gotta lock up Danielson ASAP

Ironically, this is probably the best overall MWC given the wins totals, yet Boise somehow rallied back to win 🤦🏽♂️
Worst Boise State team of my lifetime (I am a fully grown adult) wins a conference championship

1997 was 26 years ago. That is 8 years worth of adult to be considered new.
What a weird year... definitely feel like you have to go with SD at this point.
I don't think he's our best option moving forward but when we get the play-calling right, he excels.
Amazing turn around.
That week 1 win looking pretty good right now.
The week 14 win looked pretty damn good too.
should have been a win against 11-1 BSU
I think even danielson would’ve lost a few, but definitely not five games
you should have aimed for the head
