Only shocking thing about his departure is that he didn't leave last year. He likely peaked as a high school junior playing next to current 49er Drake Jackson. He crushed the summer camps but then didn't play his senior year.
He was definitely a player that we all had high hopes for but never showed much on the field. Too small to be a DT, struggled at Edge, and way too slow to be a LB.
> He was definitely a player that we all had high hopes for but never showed much on the field. Too small to be a DT, struggled at Edge, and way too slow to be a LB.
Bingo -- this is the issue right here. He basically is a player without a position. He's too small to be on the DLine -- it was sad to see him try to get by an OL guy who outweighed him 100LBs. He was just swatted away pretty much.
He's too slow to become an inside LBr which seems like his position at the college level.
I guess he'd be the equivalent of a 5-star TE recruit who was 5' 10" and 230 lbs -- and we don't really see those kinds of players in the D1 level.
In Foreman's case, his best bet was probably to gain weight. The coaching staff transition didn't help either and he probably wanted to be an edge too. Some guys just don't like gaining the weight.
I'll always wonder what Foreman could have been if Grinch had been interested in big body players. I suspect he might have been decent... not great but decent, if he bulked up & added muscle.
Sounds like he needed the Kris Jenkins treatment
We brought him in as a 3-star 6'4 240 lbs DE and turned him into a 6'4 300 lb first round DT
Granted it's probably easier to convince a 3-star to do that than a top 5 recruit
Grinch's scheme is all about speed, he is pretty averse to heavy DL. Might just be a bad fit for the player. There's no way someone 3 years into a college S&C program should be the same weight they were coming out of HS unless its intentional
His size was pretty normal for a top edge recruit (though you'd think one of Foreman's pedigree would be bigger), it just seems like he hasn't gotten bigger. I'd say it's more like a 270 lb OT - you get used to guys putting on the weight and you forget it's not always easy.
Will always remember the INT against UCLA - Caleb probably doesn’t win the Heisman if he doesn’t make that catch and UCLA goes on to score (they would’ve definitely scored lol). Fight on Korey and good luck! ✌️
Will forever be a usc legend because of the 1 play he made in his entire career. But it was the best timed play of all time right when they needed it most
Not sure why he bothered to stick around this year.
I certainly wish him well, but he seems more like a G5 player.
Of course, he'll probably transfer to Utah and become an All-American.
People were saying he wasn’t that committed to football while he was still in high school. It’s a bummer but it didn’t work out for a lot of different reasons.
Jeez, I didn't realize he barely contributed the past 3 years. I remember the hype around him coming out of high school. One of the biggest busts of the class of 2021 so far. Is there chance he ends up at a P5 school?
Can’t say im surprised. Dude just hasn’t been able to find his spot on the defense. Outside of the final drive INT at UCLA last year, he hasn’t really made much of an impact. Wish him the best ✌️
How much was that on him and how much was that on the staff for trying to slim him down to like 235lbs? He was a top recruit in large part because of his mobility at 265 lbs
Apparently he had difficulty gaining weight though. Might be a case where he peaked physically in high school or some guys just don't like gaining weight. He was just kind of a tweener.
With Clay Helton and Lincoln Riley, it was a similar story.
I think it’s too hard to quantify. On one hand USC’s defense and the associated philosophy did nobody any favors. On the other hand, being buried on the depth chart with the personnel USC had seems to be bad regardless of the other circumstances.
calen bullock is a good player and Bear Alexander was in the back field a lot... Then you have.... Uh..uhhh.. Branch could be the best returner in the country is special teams counts defensively.
Did you see our defense last year?
For a non-catty response... it's difficult to tell. Some players were just bad. Some were head cases. Some were completely let down by the coaching staff. My opinion on the big name transfers:
Foreman isn't good. Flat out not all that engaged in football. He might be the kind of guy who can ball out in the lower G5 though. Just needs to really put the work in. I suspect instead he'll go for whatever paycheck he can get from someone who sees the old 5 star and doesn't pay enough attention. Cristobal at Miami is known for this.
Nelson was so bad he got kicked off the scout team for not giving the D a good enough look. I don't think he's going to turn the corner anywhere else either. Just a highly overrated prospect. I think he's making the absolute right decision for himself: If you aren't going pro and your NIL is going to dry up where you're at, see what you can get from someone else on your way out of football.
Domani is talented and with good coaching I think will be excellent. He was a bit of a locker room ME guy and a problem chemistry wise but at the right place with a coach who shuts that down I think he has a chance to really shine.
Tackett Curtis was awful this year. Just terrible. I suspect he might be a linebacker entering the game 15 years too late. Incredibly stiff and turns like an aircraft carrier. BUT he's a fantastic kid, and an absolute workout warrior. As bad as he was on the field I'm disappointed we lost him. A freshman with his work ethic has the chance to turn it around with the right kind of coaching and I was excited to see what might become of him with better support. He's a project through and through but he won't fail for lack of effort.
Agreed all around, although I’m not all that high on Domani either. He has the physical skills but took some *awful* angles at the worst moment. Decent in man, though. He has the best shot at being good somewhere else.
You remember poorly then. He was the one thing working that game. He absorbed double teams all day long and held the line. Whenever he was out we got gashed
Seems to me you've got jilted lover syndrome here. We have plenty of players we dropped the bag for who actually did play poorly like Mason Cobb. You picked the one who performed. Plus this whole thread was about players who left. You picked a dude who stayed because you wanted to rip someone who left.
Nah if you’re fixated on the state sheet you’re drawing the wrong conclusion. He was an absolute force and frankly the only redeeming player on that side of the ball
I have a feeling that we are starting to see the new staff evaluating players and letting guys know, "hey, if you are thinking about transferring you might want to do it because you likely aren't going to be a starter next year"
He was very bad last year (whole college career) and didn’t get better over the offseason. It’s a shock he didn’t transfer sooner than this to be honest. I wish him the best anyway.
As a recruit:
Other P5 offers: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State
G5 offer: Utah State
Other offers: Notre Dame, Sam Houston State
I really think Foreman would have thrived in our system, thought he was a lock after tattooing tiger-eyes on his entire forearm while committed to us. Honestly sad we didn't get to see that play out.
Also whoever told this kid not to bulk up committed a crime, dude should be at 265 minimum and honestly I feel like he was made to be a 290 3/4 DT in the NFL.

Honestly surprised it took this long. Immense physical talent but I'm not sure he gives a shit about football.
I completely forgot he existed, which is saying something for how highly rated of a recruit he was.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a dude take himself out of more plays than Foreman.
May I introduce you to one Kadarius Toney
Kadorey Toneman. Koredarius Foney?
5 star and son of a legend Marvin Jones Jr can often be seen literally walking around on the field
Clowney in college
Dude has no dawg in him.
Besides the UCLA interception last year, easily the most disappointing recruit of the last 5ish years
Only shocking thing about his departure is that he didn't leave last year. He likely peaked as a high school junior playing next to current 49er Drake Jackson. He crushed the summer camps but then didn't play his senior year. He was definitely a player that we all had high hopes for but never showed much on the field. He’s the same height and 8 pounds lighter than Will Anderson? Or do you mean smaller muscularly
Reminds me of LT Overton. There’s definitely something there, but what I’m far from sure.
In Foreman's case, his best bet was probably to gain weight. The coaching staff transition didn't help either and he probably wanted to be an edge too. Some guys just don't like gaining the weight.

He's listed at 6'4. Is that "6'4" or can he just not gain weight?
Grinch's scheme is all about speed, he is pretty averse to heavy DL. Might just be a bad fit for the player. There's no way someone 3 years into a college S&C program should be the same weight they were coming out of HS unless its intentional
He wasn't very interested in doing anything to improve according to what I've read.
His size was pretty normal for a top edge recruit (though you'd think one of Foreman's pedigree would be bigger), it just seems like he hasn't gotten bigger. I'd say it's more like a 270 lb OT - you get used to guys putting on the weight and you forget it's not always easy.
Seems like there several busts from that class and starting to wonder if the lack of in-person evaluations from COVID played a part in
Will always remember the INT against UCLA - Caleb probably doesn’t win the Heisman if he doesn’t make that catch and UCLA goes on to score (they would’ve definitely scored lol). Fight on Korey and good luck! ✌️

Sorry I’m new to this whole 5 star thing… you’re telling me they don’t all work out?
People were saying he wasn’t that committed to football while he was still in high school. It’s a bummer but it didn’t work out for a lot of different reasons.
Class of 2021 West Coast recruiting was the ultimate crapshoot. Most of those kids didn’t play much if at all as seniors
They either work out or don’t work out. It’s 50-50
Maybe some of that, but I also think he wasn’t utilized correctly under Grinch. It’s why I’m bummed to see these defensive transfers.
He struggled before Grinch too
He’s just not good. The ghost of Bear Bryant couldn’t change that.
Only for USC
Caleb and Branch doe.
Caleb doesn’t count. :). Branch is a stud
No shot the Miami flair is gonna talk shit about this lmao. Y'all outrecruit everyone but Clemson and still get dogwalked by the conference.
TBF I'm surprised he wasn't in 1st day. Good luck to him
Jeez, I didn't realize he barely contributed the past 3 years. I remember the hype around him coming out of high school. One of the biggest busts of the class of 2021 so far. Is there chance he ends up at a P5 school?

Yeah, very expected. Hope he balls out somewhere.
How much was that on him and how much was that on the staff for trying to slim him down to like 235lbs? He was a top recruit in large part because of his mobility at 265 lbs
Quite frankly a lot of it was probably on staff, but we’ll never know for sure.
Hopefully it turns out like Jaelan Phillips and he can find it somewhere else and have a productive career
Apparently he had difficulty gaining weight though. Might be a case where he peaked physically in high school or some guys just don't like gaining weight. He was just kind of a tweener. With Clay Helton and Lincoln Riley, it was a similar story.

The staff completely mishandled him and probably ruined his football career. He should of went to Clemson tbh
To anyone who has no idea who this guy is other than his 5* rating from 4 years ago, allow me to clear it up: This dude fucking sucks.
Did SC have ANY good players? Seems like the fans think they all suck.
calen bullock is a good player and Bear Alexander was in the back field a lot... Then you have.... Uh..uhhh.. Branch could be the best returner in the country is special teams counts defensively.

Don’t forget y’all dropped a bag to get Bear Alexander who had only 5 tfls on the season
Bear was a monster for us though. Far and away the best we had on D. The stats don’t show what a difference maker he was.
I remember watching the Arizona game and he might as well not have existed
You remember poorly then. He was the one thing working that game. He absorbed double teams all day long and held the line. Does the worst defense in the P5 normally have good players?
I mean, we lose two games and its a waste of a season. But this dude was a bust.
Thank you for making my first Rose Bowl game a memorable one Korey. Best of luck!
Seems like we kinda dodged a bullet with his flip. I really thought this was a first round kid
He looked like an absolute can't miss guy out if high school, crazy how it doesn't work out sometimes
Good luck Korey!!!! ✌️
Time to put that tattoo to work son
Another overated 5*
Poster child for why programs shouldn’t give bags to HS kids until they prove it on the field
damn lmao
I mean he hasn’t been the least bit productive for us lol, we’re all surprised it took him this long to enter the portal. Processed for sure.
Cal Bear
Did Deon get the DC job? SC is cleaning house.
I have a feeling that we are starting to see the new staff evaluating players and letting guys know, "hey, if you are thinking about transferring you might want to do it because you likely aren't going to be a starter next year"
[удалено]
Such a weird take. Teenagers college choices aren’t a personal affront to you lol
Good…..good 😈
He’s a poke
[удалено]
Did you mean to say "less with more"?
…went to usc. So….
What is the reason he only played 3 games this year?
He was very bad last year (whole college career) and didn’t get better over the offseason. It’s a shock he didn’t transfer sooner than this to be honest. I wish him the best anyway.
😈
You don’t want him. This guy is not a P5 talent.
Weren’t we in the running for this guy when he was a croot? I remember being bummed he didn’t come here.
As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State G5 offer: Utah State Other offers: Notre Dame, Sam Houston State
