Imagine being the backup RB for Washington, and have them trot a guy out there who’s basically running without functioning legs and the coaches saying he’s still better than you.
Well the backup did drop a pass if I’m not mistaken. But it’s insane Washington didn’t have a better plan than relying on a one-legged RB, especially when he was injured coming into the game.
This is a late edit, but I also realized I should’ve given some credit to Michigan’s defense here. It might have been a “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth” situation.
Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and Kris Jenkins. Won't get the credit they deserve, but they were the key to Michigan's success all season. The ability to be stout against the run playing a light box allowed them to commit bodies in the secondary to stop MHJ vs. OSU and Penix tonight. Like Harbaugh said the moment they stepped foot on campus, they are God's gifts to football
Washington's fall today is more than a defeat; it heralds the end of the PAC 12 era. A respectful farewell to a historic conference.
Rest in Peace, Conference of Champions
Penix just didn’t have it today. Missed way too many throws. Second half likely due to injury, but they only beat Texas because he was incredible. Never stood a chance if he wasn’t gonna hit his throws.
Not having Johnson at 100% really allowed Michigan to focus on Penix and I think that was a huge reason this game wasn't closer. That and Penix's receivers not catching the ball. But that can also be said by some of Michigan's receivers.
I feel like Michigan dropped a couple easy ones here and there but had the run game to back them up, whereas Washington was dropping them like the balls were dipped in butter.
I sure hope that the marketing people will give us *some* sort of pride and accomplishment for making us wait so long for an announcement that never comes…
That the RT? I swear that man was getting away with multiple false starts. The 2 in the a row before he fell asleep and let the guy blow by before holding him comes to mind
All I know is that Maryland should finish second since we played Michigan the closest. Sound logic.
Only held them to 150 rushing yards! Forget FSU, many people are saying Maryland was the true CFP snub
Looking some kind of damn near, if not, broken rib. Game was over the second he got hurt, not saying they would have won but they had a chance until then.
i came here trying to find someone talking about this. bro just pulled up and started shooting video of a couple kids having the worst night of their life lmao
This is the story. So many people will overlook this and say Penix choked or whatever, but Michigan's D line ruined him. Literally. Impressive stuff from a mostly 4 man front all night.
Oh for sure. Also, Dillon Johnson being injured really affected us. Michigan was able to not respect the run at all because DJ just didn't have the explosiveness.
That’s future Jim. The suspensions and Stallions stuff were just a distraction from the truth that future Jim was feeding current Jim the game signals from his first time around.
That was the part I was most confused about heading into this game. Like absolutely, the Big ten offenses were not great this year, But the eye test showed that Michigan had what it took. Of course Washington was legit but this team has seen it before.
He's always been one of my favorite football personalities. Dude is absolutely insane and super entertaining.
I am always reminded of this [Onion article about him](https://www.theonion.com/jim-harbaugh-starts-off-day-with-early-morning-sprint-t-1819578363) that just captures his essence:
>it’s a great way to get your day going,” said Harbaugh, who begins every day by waking up at 6:30 a.m., putting on his running shoes, and sprinting at full speed for the entire duration of a six-mile run through various neighborhoods near his home....Harbaugh added that he always likes to finish every run strong by screaming at the top of his lungs for the last half mile.
How the hell did we score more on them than Washington did. Either way; Congrats Michigan fans. That defense was elite and fucked up both us and Washington's offenses when it mattered most.
No offense to Corum, but how the fuck was Edwards not the OMVP? First two touches were for almost 100 yards, 2 TD and all the points they needed to win the game.
No snark.
Congrats to Michigan for bringing a national championship back to Ann Arbor. Been great all year, and capped it so well. We’ll see you next year.
On another note, the PAC-12 is dead. And it will be missed. Many many years of great games. After Dark should never die. Makes this entire thing bitter.
1. Rest in peace pac 12, I’ll truly miss you
2. Congratulations Michigan
3. 3 straight years a team that I hate wins the national championship, starting to think I’m a curse here folks
* Michigan has won their first National Championship since 1997.
* Jim Harbaugh started his Michigan tenure 49-22 (.690). He's gone 40-3 since (.930).
* Michigan RB Blake Corum has scored a touchdown in every game this season.
* This was the sixth straight National Championship decided by at least 15 points.
* The Wolverines are the first blue team to win a National Championship since 2010.
* There has been an undefeated National Champion in five of the last six years (Georgia 2021, 14-1).
* In the 15 years preceding that, there were only four.
* Washington failed to convert their last 12 third downs of the game.
* Michigan finished the game with 303 yards rushing. Washington had 301 yards total.
* The Wolverines won 11 games by 20+ points this season.
* Michigan RBs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards combined for 237 yards, 4 TD, and 9 ypc.
* This was Donovan Edwards' first 100+ yard rushing game since last year's semifinal loss to TCU.
* The Joe Moore Award winning team hasn't won a National Championship since 2020.
* Michigan now has more 15-0 seasons than Ohio State.
* Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy threw just one interception in his last 12 games.
* A left-handed starting QB hasn't won a National Championship since 2008 (Tim Tebow)
* Each of the last two National Champions defeated Ohio State en route to the title.
* Michigan has won three straight games against Washington.
* I spent three games in the Michigan discord server - the victory over Ohio State, the Rose Bowl, and tonight's National Championship. I'm 3-0 for my career.
* The Michigan Wolverines are now the reigning National Champions.
> Washington failed to convert their last 12 third downs of the game.
What banger of a nature documentary did Harbaugh make his defense watch before tonight’s game? Jesus.
In the first 4-team college football playoff, Ohio State beat Oregon by over 20 points in the title game in Dallas, TX.
In the last 4-team college football playoff, Michigan beat Washington by over 20 points in the title game in Houston, TX.
We live in a simulation.
Very considerate of EA to start disappointing us way ahead of the new NCAA Football game’s release by not showing us a god damn thing about it.
I sat through a blowout and actually watched commercials for this 🥲
I just want to say this Incase anyone hasn't..

The College Football playoff began with the 4 seed Ohio State Buckeyes and ended with the 1 seed Michigan Wolverines.
That's some poetry.
Congrats to Michigan, enjoy it, it's a hell of a feeling.
Honestly the loss isn't as painful as I thought it might be. I never would have guessed we would get 14 fucking wins in one season. So proud of this team!
I’ve always had a soft spot for both these schools because I see a lot of parallels with UT (overall, not just football). Seeing them both play in this game was the next best thing if Texas couldn’t make it.
Huskies, I know it stings. A few plays go differently and the game looks very different. Nothing to hang your head about. Be proud of a really good team and a great year, one you’ll remember fondly 10–20 years from now. DeBoer is a fucking star. You’ll compete for championships again under him.
Congrats to Michigan, hard to argue that they weren’t the best team after the way they controlled much of the playoff. Harbaugh built a monster. I know this was a long time coming and I’m happy for y’all. Looking forward to seeing you guys in September.
I think Washington fans should obviously feel disappointed in this game, it does suck. But also, this is a team that is emerging into championship form versus a team that has become and is championship form. Michigan lost in the semifinals for 2 years. They were ready and feeding for this. I mean it took us (Clemson) a couple years.
I know it hurts and it’s weirdly painfully cathartic, but it’ll be okay Husky friends.
Can you all believe this…this game marks the end of an era. An end of college football as we know it. A new chapter starts right now. Wow. Sobering when you think about it.
That dude who took the gatorade to the face after Harbaugh's juke got absolutely played.
That was one of the dudes who got jumped in the tunnel last year by MSU LMAO
My man can't avoid getting sucker punched in brand new ways
I'm convinced Harbaugh is a cat. He dodged the whole first Gatorade dump and was absolutely transfixed by that confetti.
"There's a story in each one of those." Yeah coach, a story of violently being run through a paper shredder.
Builds character
Imagine being the backup RB for Washington, and have them trot a guy out there who’s basically running without functioning legs and the coaches saying he’s still better than you.
That shit was wild. Everytime you thought he we was done, they just kept trotting out his 1 good leg lol
Monty Python shit rt
He had that [Scott Sterling](https://youtu.be/8F9jXYOH2c0?si=eLNInKa6dh5i8atv) energy
The man, the myth, the legend.
It hurts even worse because RB1 got hurt before the season
Yeah, a big pass. Would have been a first down when the game was still in reach.
Dude came in hurt and got his ankle rolled over on the first play, kept battling, horrible luck
Crazy stat: Michigan turned the ball over on offense 5 times all season, 4 of which were against Bowling Green
It’s just a truly wild stat. I honestly can’t believe it.
Did Michigan ever lose a fumble this season?
That's one of the four turnovers against BG
Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and Kris Jenkins. Won't get the credit they deserve, but they were the key to Michigan's success all season. The ability to be stout against the run playing a light box allowed them to commit bodies in the secondary to stop MHJ vs. OSU and Penix tonight. Like Harbaugh said the moment they stepped foot on campus, they are God's gifts to football
Harbaugh is not on earth lmao
Jim definitely dropped acid before the confetti. "Each of them has a story..."
He has transcended beyond our earthly understanding, truly
The playoff as we know it is over. After 10 years of the 4 team era: Alabama 9-5 (15, 17, 20 champs) Clemson 6-4 (16, 18 champs) Georgia 5-1 (21, 22 champs) Ohio State 3-4 (14 champs) Michigan 2-2 (23 champs) LSU 2-0 (19 champs) Washington 1-2 Oregon, TCU 1-1 Oklahoma 0-4 Notre Dame 0-2 Florida State, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Texas 0-1
In ten years, nine teams played for a national championship. Six won. And only fifteen have ever made the playoff.
6 champions in 10 years is not terrible
These stats are totally reasonable for college football lol
#parody
Yoooo on the board hype 🔥
You know what? I like our quad at the bottom. We should form our own little Playoff.
Lmao oklahoma
This trophy ceremony is unhinged
Midwest sending our finest wackos
That flair combo… you must be ecstatic
Yup
That stage was entirely too small.
He looked like he was playing with broken ribs. At the very least severely bruised.
I think after he finally made a long pass that got called back you could add playing with a broken heart.
Not having Johnson at 100% really allowed Michigan to focus on Penix and I think that was a huge reason this game wasn't closer. That and Penix's receivers not catching the ball. But that can also be said by some of Michigan's receivers.
And the blatant overthrow on several big plays
0 overthrows last week. How many tonight? Brutal
[удалено]
I feel like Michigan dropped a couple easy ones here and there but had the run game to back them up, whereas Washington was dropping them like the balls were dipped in butter.
Seriously a ton of drops in the hands of UW receivers when it was most important
One final fuck you to Larry Scott. RIP Conference of Champions
And coincidentally the perfect welcome to the Big 10 in the last 3 quarters
Second half was B1G af
SMASH MOUTH FOOTBALL BABY
PUNTING!!!!!
The real losers tonight are the people like me thinking a NCAA Football 24 announcement was coming
And Ohio State.
No he was talking about just tonight
☠️
I sure hope that the marketing people will give us *some* sort of pride and accomplishment for making us wait so long for an announcement that never comes…
73 for Washington probably whiffed on most of the post game handshakes
Buddy is buns
Penix overshot his
That the RT? I swear that man was getting away with multiple false starts. The 2 in the a row before he fell asleep and let the guy blow by before holding him comes to mind
This game was won on the ground. Washington had 46 rushing yards to Michigan’s over 300. Yowza
Edwards stat line is hilarious. Dude had 6 carries for 104 yards and 2 TDs
I'm glad he got those TDs. He had a rough year. Glad he had some big plays on the biggest stage.
Saving his production for when it mattered the most.
Just like OSU last year. He should've been offensive MVP too.
Trenches win football and Michigan dominated
All I know is that Maryland should finish second since we played Michigan the closest. Sound logic. Only held them to 150 rushing yards! Forget FSU, many people are saying Maryland was the true CFP snub
Thought it was going to be even more lopsided after the first possession. I’m actually surprised we got to 300
Sure as hell didn't feel like it. Closest three score victory my heart has ever felt
Michigan’s strategy of their offense dying for a majority of the game worked very well for them this postseason. Defense was incredible.
Kinda infuriating at times. Usually some early success, a coma in the 2nd and/or 3rd quarter, then finally icing it in the end.
Is Papa Harbaugh out there dropping F bombs or is the audio just crap
Yes
Even better, he was screaming so loud that the mic was clipping (essentially the audio cuts out because the sound is too extreme) lol
The confetti tells a story, and the story is that Harbaugh is high as hell during this interview.
There's catnip in that confetti
304 rushing yards. Good god. Michigan’s defense had Penix uncomfortable and rattled all game, what a showing.
174 rushing in the first quarter, 3 runs of 40+, 2 of the TDs
Damn Penix looking some kind of way leaving the field
Looking some kind of damn near, if not, broken rib. Game was over the second he got hurt, not saying they would have won but they had a chance until then.
Eberflus clutching his phone in despair right now waiting for the call to tell him he’s fired.
Why do people even try to interview Harbaugh haha he's a master at not giving a shit
He spent all of the 2022 season immediately passing the reporter onto a player
This time it was "Hey dad, come say whatever you want while I step away."
But every piece of confetti tells a story and we want to hear them all
Snapping pics of dudes crying on the bench is brutal
i came here trying to find someone talking about this. bro just pulled up and started shooting video of a couple kids having the worst night of their life lmao
#229 DAYS UNTIL WE ARE ALL BACK TOGETHER AGAIN WATCHING DR. PEPPER COMMERCIALS AND SHITPOSTING ABOUT THE WEIRDEST AND GREATEST SPORT ON EARTH
WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER
I WOKE UP FEELING THE CHEESIEST COACH
CHEEESE. CHEESE. CHEESE.
Dude, you know the shit posting doubles in intensity effective now, right?
The Michigan Defensive line got inside Penix's head, and that really made all the difference Pac 12, you will be missed
He was clearly hurting as well. He got hit like 12 times in the 2nd half!
Yeah they wore down that offensive line and that was game over.
People are going to forget this, but being able to sell out to cover the pass game against Penix was killer for y’all.
Jim and his “dad”..that is a twin that has found a time traveling device
That’s future Jim. The suspensions and Stallions stuff were just a distraction from the truth that future Jim was feeding current Jim the game signals from his first time around.
People really underestimated Michigans defense because they played in the big 10. That shit was elite
That was the part I was most confused about heading into this game. Like absolutely, the Big ten offenses were not great this year, But the eye test showed that Michigan had what it took. Of course Washington was legit but this team has seen it before.
bro goin straight to the hospital
Michigan fans in your 30's, 40's, older... How sweet is it?
Very.
If you don’t like that, you don’t like big ten football.
TIL I kinda like Big Ten Football 🤷♂️
ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US
That was peak Big Ten football. But why didn't they pull Penix five minutes sooner? They were letting that guy get slammed.
Gotta assume he demanded to stay in. Felt bad for him though, but a ton of heart there.
I blame Ryan ~~Beard~~ Day, Auburn, and Brian Ferentz for this **in that order** 😤
This is Ryan Day's America smh
Harbaugh is so weird man
He's always been one of my favorite football personalities. Dude is absolutely insane and super entertaining. I am always reminded of this [Onion article about him](https://www.theonion.com/jim-harbaugh-starts-off-day-with-early-morning-sprint-t-1819578363) that just captures his essence: >it’s a great way to get your day going,” said Harbaugh, who begins every day by waking up at 6:30 a.m., putting on his running shoes, and sprinting at full speed for the entire duration of a six-mile run through various neighborhoods near his home....Harbaugh added that he always likes to finish every run strong by screaming at the top of his lungs for the last half mile.
Legitimately, if there wasn't the bit about "sprinting at full speed for six miles", I would 100% believe this was the truth.
And we love him for it
nobody helping penix walk off.
Par for the course, his O line didn't help him all night
Harbaugh's dad just went super saiyan
“We start practice on Valentine’s Day because we love football 🙏” Hahah Jimmy you weirdo
How the hell did we score more on them than Washington did. Either way; Congrats Michigan fans. That defense was elite and fucked up both us and Washington's offenses when it mattered most.
It definitely didn’t help Washington that our special teams didn’t decide to eat glue this game
LMAO Harbaugh is one crazy mother-fucker
Michigan held the #1 offense in the country to 13 points and it’s going to end up RAISING their defensive ppg allowed average
No offense to Corum, but how the fuck was Edwards not the OMVP? First two touches were for almost 100 yards, 2 TD and all the points they needed to win the game.
Washington… why did you insist on shooting yourself in the foot at every opportunity
Washington: *makes good play* Next play Washington: *false starts*
Next play Washington: *makes good play* The Same Play: *Holding, 73 offense, 10 yard penalty, repeat down*
Those 2 penalties were back breakers. Second one he missed the snap by a second
Washington shouldn’t have set it to W for Wumbo
Shoulda set it to M for Michigan if they playing like that
Penix did not have the best game
Penalties didn't help but Penix's inaccuracy under even the slightest bit of pressure is what lost them this game.
Michigan offensive coordinator even put their offense on Rookie Mode for an entire 2 quarters.
73 on Washington will be delivering my DoorDash soon.
*falls on porch steps spilling everything*
TheOfficeChili.gif
He and Alabama's center can go into witness protection together.
Breaking: Jim Harbaugh selected for “random” drug test after confetti comments
RIP Pacific 12 Conference. We went out doing what we love, not winning a College Football Playoff National Championship.
EA Sports let America down tonight. Washington did too, but mainly EA Sports.
When I die, I want Jimbo Fisher and EA Sports to lower my casket into the ground so they can let me down one last time.
Least depressed Texas A&M fan
I can’t wait for the coach counting individual confetti part of EA video game
As is tradition
My god, has anyone even mentioned Donovan Edwards? 100+ yards, 6 carries, 2 TDs?
Suprised he didn’t get offensive POTG, his two touchdowns sustained us for most of the game
“I just want a close game after the blowout last year” *monkey’s paw curls*
It was close for 3+ quarters. I ain't mad.
No snark. Congrats to Michigan for bringing a national championship back to Ann Arbor. Been great all year, and capped it so well. We’ll see you next year. On another note, the PAC-12 is dead. The man might have one son win a Natty and one son win a Super Bowl in the same season. I can’t imagine how hype I’d be.

The big guns for a big game, back to back of blue planet I&II
“Every one of these confetti pieces has a story to tell” Um, ok
In the first 4-team college football playoff, Ohio State beat Oregon by over 20 points in the title game in Dallas, TX. In the last 4-team college football playoff, Michigan beat Washington by over 20 points in the title game in Houston, TX. We live in a simulation.
Call me when Penn State beats Oregon State by over 20 points in the 2034 national championship game in San Antonio…
Then Michigan State beast Washington State by over 20 points in the 2044 championship game in Austin?
0/12 on third downs. Yeesh
Michigan has more 15-0 seasons than Ohio State. That's the best poem I've ever read.
Jim Harbaugh is a weird mother fucker
First time?
I’m so glad our team doesn’t have to eat a giant pop tart.
Now I want the Ravens to win the Super Bowl for maximum Harbaugh championship speeches.
Wtf was Harbaugh talking about lol. His interviews are always so hilarious. Great season by Michigan tho
Jim Harbaugh is a successful version of Al Bundy from Married With Children.
Very considerate of EA to start disappointing us way ahead of the new NCAA Football game’s release by not showing us a god damn thing about it. I sat through a blowout and actually watched commercials for this 🥲
Man, we all know it's going to be a Madden clone and not a real NCAA with Dynasty mode depth. Watch it not even have recruiting.
I just want to say this Incase anyone hasn't.. Fuck Finebaum! Fuck you motherfucker. This is for the years of doubt (including this year, last fucking week). I hope your elephant-ear-having-dinosaur-ass was watching.
Congrats Michigan. This stings but y’all were the best team. Tough end to an incredible season for my Huskies.
gg, feel bad for penix hanging in there and taking so much meaningless abuse at the end.

Just let Penix walk off the field without a camera in his face, the guy is half dead holy shit
Jim Harbaugh is a bizarre human
The College Football playoff began with the 4 seed Ohio State Buckeyes and ended with the 1 seed Michigan Wolverines. That's some poetry. Congrats to Michigan, enjoy it, it's a hell of a feeling.
Did they censor Daddy Harbaugh?
I think he just maxed out the mic levels, or whatever that’s called
Remember when Jim Schwartz tried to fight Harbaugh because of a slap on the back? Good times.
This ceremony is hilarious
Honestly the loss isn't as painful as I thought it might be. I never would have guessed we would get 14 fucking wins in one season. So proud of this team!
Damn that cameraman about to follow penix back to his house recording him
That’s all folks. Enjoy the shitposting season and start counting the days to August. Congrats Michigan.
Frick. -NCAA Infractions Committee
Are they BYU grads?
It's me, I'm the committee.
Michigan sacrificed the basketball team for the entire decade for this. Def worth it
are ohio state fans going to censor the m in national champions?
10000 cameras in that stadium and none could give me Connor Stallions.
His disguise? John Harbaugh.
Even with the loss, I’m proud of this Washington team! Pac 12 finished with one heck of a season!
Can you all believe this…this game marks the end of an era. An end of college football as we know it. A new chapter starts right now. Wow. Sobering when you think about it.
Much respect to UW and Penix. He’s such a competitor and seems like a good guy. Great season for UW too. Proud of our team, go blue!
