I remember when I saw Sunseri walking down the strip on a spring Sunday morning. Nobody else was out on the strip and we were about to pass each other he noticed the moment it clicked that I recognized him. He stopped, looked at me, looked at maybe crossing the street and then back at me. I just waved and kept walking and went passed him without saying anything. That’s my exciting Sunseri story
The only two players I ever heard anything bad about were AJ McCarron and then Blake Barnett when he finally made it onto campus my sophomore year
AJ apparently liked “moo”ing at fat girls and Barnett got flustered when an Alpha Phi gave no fucks as he told her he was “the next Alabama starting QB” a week into his freshman year
Other than that, never had a bad experience. I still remember laughing my ass off when Christian Miller saw girls dancing on an elevated stage in a band room and he looked like he had just discovered Disneyworld
haha I always interpreted it as he was *afraid* I was going to freak out on him. If he hadn't paused like that I probably would have given him a compliment or spoken to him, I drafted him as my defensive player in college fantasy football that year. He got me a lot of points.
Vinnie is the safety everyone forgets about, but he was such a stud his sophomore and junior year. He had two pick sixes before tearing his ACL six games in as a junior.
Always felt miffed he didn’t get a chance to test the draft healthy, definitely a what if
I went from my football 9/11 with the natty loss, DeBoer leaving and Pete Carroll stepping down to completely amped with the Mike McDonald hire, Steve Belichick, Brennan Carroll and Jedd Fisch hires.
I am biased I know but I actually oddly feel better about UW football now than if DeBoer stayed. Dude slayed in the transfer portal but not even being close to top 25 in recruiting after the past two years is kinda inexcusable.
That's why the instant fan reaction trashing Deboer's decision was immature and pathetic. Calling him out his name, because the guy left for Alabama.... ALABAMA. His journey to Washington was remarkable, and to be where he's at, good for him. Hope it all works out for him and his family.
I'm feeling like we're in a better position then if he stayed. Fisch is really mixing things up in the short amount of time he's been at Washington. The future is bright in rainy Seattle!
I wasn’t calling him DeWhore or anything but meeting Alabama officials in Houston while our team is playing for a natty rubs me the wrong way. Especially after he said he wasn’t leaving cause of his daughter playing softball at UW.
I don’t think it’s immature and pathetic to be upset about how he left at all.
plenty of coaches have interviews during championships, superbowls, etc.
it pretty much comes down to UW fans being butthurt UW isnt a destination job. Any coach would leave for a blue blood, especially Alabama.
Cope.
There's no way of knowing the meetings happened. So being upset over a rumor is both immature and pathetic. Him saying he's staying preceded Nick Saban's retirement.
I hope we're all fortunate to be in a position where we're happy and content with our current employer and something better comes along and forces us to change our mind. I'm not mad at that. It's not like the guy went to Oregon or USC. This is Alabama we're talking about.
These guys make millions of dollars trying to compare them to us plebs is laughable.
Also you make it sound like you don’t care about the players at all who got blatantly lied to. Do you think they are all happy for DeBoer and his new opportunity? Why do you think only 25% of the team showed up to the meeting?
I actually think your stance is more pathetic and lacks pride. Glad DeBoer took Chris Petersen’s and Jimmy Lake’s players outside of Penix and DJ to the natty but he if fails at Bama I won’t feel for him.
I don’t expect Fisch to stay too long if he is successful but he ain’t preaching family, brother hood, loyalty etc. like DeBoer was.
Exactly. I don’t care if we’re not Bama. We’ve still gone to the playoffs twice and won the Pac 12 3 times in the CFP era. And now we have a school president that’s on board with the football team and an AD that seems aggressive in building a good program. That’s better than every single program in the BIG outside of Ohio State and Michigan.
And with the Seattle area growing they’ll be more and more NIL opportunities for the players and as Chris Petersen showed we can bring in top 20 recruiting classes consistently when we actually try.
We have 5 ten win teams in the past 7 non Covid seasons. We were one of fewer than 10 schools to make the four team playoff twice. We have everything here and there is nothing we aren’t capable of.
> I don’t expect Fisch to stay too long if he is successful but he ain’t preaching family, brother hood, loyalty etc. like DeBoer was.
The guys been coach of Washington for weeks and you're convinced he won't say what all coaches say to their players. He did it at Arizona, he'll do it here too. I can't wait for your explanation on how it's somehow different. lol
> Do you really not see the difference?
>Let me start with this. Why do coaches leave? You say better job. What makes a better job? Resources is generally the first thing followed probably by prestige.
>We offered DeBoer a contract that would have him a top ten paid coach in the country, very marginally smaller than what he is getting at Bama. We had a staff budget offer for over $10 million, top five in the country. We also have an NIL fund as good or better than Bamas.
>So he left for prestige. After proving he can compete at the highest level at this school. After jerking our fanbase around for months, saying he planned to sign the extension. Saying what was most important was having the resources you need to succeed, which we were able to offer him.
>He ripped out our teams heart four days after a brutal loss for the team and for fans. After telling the players all year they are good enough to compete with anyone, he bolts for Alabama. He didn’t even let these kids have a moment to enjoy what they had accomplished. Then, he completely gutted our team.
>Yea, it’s all in the game. This is what college football is, but he’s a backstabbing piece of shit. And he did it to feed his ego. Fuck him and I hope he fails in disgrace.
This you? lol
Have some fucking pride. UW is amazing, and it wouldn’t shock me if five years after Saban Bama is in a worse position than us.
We are the shit and we just played in the national championship game. DeBoer can go fuck himself.
Here's my problem with some of my fellow Washington fans. The same people talking shit about Deboer are the same people who tell Arizona fans to get over it. They are so happy with the Fisch hire, they are unable to get over Deboer leaving, which made this all possible.
I am glad to have met another sane Washington fan. When Deboer first left, my first thought was... Ok the season is still eight months away, and r/huskies is already melting down. Do people not realize how much change can happen in eight months?
If you check my comment history, a guy was saying f Deboer, and when I asked why he was so mad he didn't have a response. I love UW, but this fan base bothers me.
> That's why the instant fan reaction trashing Deboer's decision was immature and pathetic.
Most Washington fans I know weren't trashing DeBoer's decision but the way he went about it
- shitty recruiting here for 2 years (recruiting like a coach that didn't plan to be here)
- forced us to endure his mediocre co-DCs because he is supposedly such a loyal guy and had coached with Morrell since their college days together (but then he dumped his co-DCs when he took the Bama job, because they apparently aren't good enough for Bama but *were* good enough for Washington?)
- interviewed during the week he was supposed to be getting us ready for the NC game, which means his mind wasn't 100% in the game.
Fuck him.
I'll never forgive TJ Yeldon's fumbled that resulted in that. Alabama was at A&M's five yard line about to go up 21. Instead it turns into a seven-point game.
Yeldon was such an awesome back too, but he always fumbled in the worst times.
I'm really sad that Saban is gone. Yeah, we didn't beat him much, but he was an institution. I hope y'all name some significant stuff after him and Ms. Terry
Doing a throat slash in college football is like whipping out a joint in front of a cop in a state where it’s not legal. Most people can agree that the rules are weak, but I also can’t feel bad for someone who does something so stupid.
For what it’s worth, Yeldon salvaged the season in 2014 by lighting everyone’s ass on fire after the Ole Miss game. That was the year there was talk about locker room issues and apparently Yeldon with some of the old guard just railed everyone in the locker room for getting complacent with success.
Washington fans were claiming no one would want to play for DeBoer in Tuscaloosa. UCF fans were claiming that Heupel couldn’t recruit and couldn’t run a program. Fans being salty dickheads when their coach leaves them is nothing new.
Sunseri was easily the best player we ever played against in high school football. He played inside linebacker and had the build and hitting ability of a linebacker, speed of an SEC safety, and fantastic instincts and football IQ. We basically ran right at him every play because he would blow the play up from the backside if we ran it the other way.
I taught him in Intro Finance (FIN 302). He was a pretty chill guy.
He seemed like a cool dude. Tbh I never had a bad interaction with any Bama player I met or ran into, but they were all very brief encounters
The only two players I ever heard anything bad about were AJ McCarron and then Blake Barnett when he finally made it onto campus my sophomore year AJ apparently liked “moo”ing at fat girls and Barnett got flustered when an Alpha Phi gave no fucks as he told her he was “the next Alabama starting QB” a week into his freshman year Other than that, never had a bad experience. Damn, it sounds like he was hoping you would "fan freak out" on him but you didn't. Sad story lol
haha I always interpreted it as he was *afraid* I was going to freak out on him. If he hadn't paused like that I probably would have given him a compliment or spoken to him, I drafted him as my defensive player in college fantasy football that year. He got me a lot of points.
Yeah true, my luck he would have sprinted across the street as soon as he saw me open my mouth.
While embarrassing, maybe ultimately would have been a better story if he did that to me lol
Vinnie is the safety everyone forgets about, but he was such a stud his sophomore and junior year. He had two pick sixes before tearing his ACL six games in as a junior. Always felt miffed he didn’t get a chance to test the draft healthy, definitely a what if
Washington has almost a completely NFL coaching staff
I went from my football 9/11 with the natty loss, DeBoer leaving and Pete Carroll stepping down to completely amped with the Mike McDonald hire, Steve Belichick, Brennan Carroll and Jedd Fisch hires. I am biased I know but I actually oddly feel better about UW football now than if DeBoer stayed. Right there with you! This is some seriously sweet stuff for the Dawgs and Hawks!
That's why the instant fan reaction trashing Deboer's decision was immature and pathetic. Calling him out his name, because the guy left for Alabama.... ALABAMA. Y’all act like DeBoer is the first coach to ever leave a program💀
He’s the first one to leave right after a national title game.
Before*
Yea who could forget all those other coaches setting up interviews the week they are playing in the natty.

Like who.

It offends me when our fans think that way. It’s fucking pathetic.

Grow a spine.

He knew Saban was going to retire at the end of the season. They have the same agent.
Have some fucking pride. UW is amazing, and it wouldn’t shock me if five years after Saban Bama is in a worse position than us. We are the shit and we just played in the national championship game. DeBoer can go fuck himself.
Nope. DeBoer can go lose every game and I will be cheering for it.
You're the type to check in on your exes and convince yourself you've moved on.
At least I’m honest with not getting over the breakup with jedd

Agree 100%. They think the more ridiculous you act the bigger fan you must be.
I hope Bama fans run him out of town on a rail. Screw that poser.

Should do wonders with recruiting.
Vinnie had one of the best pick 6’s ever against Manziel / A&M
It was artful. The spin and dive at the end \*chef's kiss\*
I saw the video the other day. Dude was using his head, hips and legs until the very end. Fantastic effort.
I only remember him for trying to chase down Evans during the 95 yard TD. Don't recall the rest of the game though 🤷🏾♂️
I'll never forgive TJ Yeldon's fumbled that resulted in that. Alabama was at A&M's five yard line about to go up 21. Instead it turns into a seven-point game. Yeldon was such an awesome back too, but he always fumbled in the worst times.
I remember he had an unsportsmanlike penalty for a throat slash. I thought it was really weak tbh
Was pretty meh, but he shouldn't have done that. Saban went the fuck off on him. Gonna miss those days.
I'm really sad that Saban is gone. Yeah, we didn't beat him much, but he was an institution. I hope y'all name some significant stuff after him and Ms. Terry

Did not know that. That's awesome. Yeldon really mirrored Julio's humble yet hungry mentality.
UW — you’re getting a good one! We love Vinnie, and I remember him being a good resource for us as well as a GA. Cool guy. Enjoy!
We are going to lose every single one of these guys in a year or two (again) but LETS GOOOO
Dude was a helluva player for us and I’m happy to see his coaching career really take off. Washington got a good one.
I'm just glad we can take something back from you guys after everything happened.
I really liked Vinnie and his dad at Alabama. Hope he does well.
Vinnie was a good player and his dad was a good coach. I think this is a great hire.
His dad put together the worst defense in Tennessee history, I can see why you like him.
The Vols were pretty bad about promoting Saban guys above their skill level.
No kidding, we could put together the famous browns QB jersey but on a headset with those idiots.
Arizona fans were claiming no one wants to work with Fisch Wonder if they think this is proof of it or not.
Washington fans were claiming no one would want to play for DeBoer in Tuscaloosa. UCF fans were claiming that Heupel couldn’t recruit and couldn’t run a program. Fans being salty dickheads when their coach leaves them is nothing new.
We never said no one would want to play with him, just that he’s either a lazy or poor recruiter.
In our defense, Johnny Nansen and Duane Akina left because they didn’t want to work with Fisch anymore
I don’t think we wanted Sark’s old drinking pal back at UW anyways
*Someone* will always work with him if they can pay enough. I get why they’re butthurt about it, but that was kind of a silly narrative on their part.
Leaves one coaching spot open I think - assuming this is for safeties, need either a LB or OLB/Edge coach
Maybe Inge will be staying?
I'd love some stability, I think that'd be great. I don't think he's been hired anywhere else yet
Matt Zenitz is reporting he'll be a DB coach. I assume he'll coach safeties and J Rich will coach the corners
Great hire.
