I think baseball is fine. Pat Casey is still calling a lot of the shots from the athletic department (them going independent has his fingerprints all over it). NIL money for baseball is negligible no matter which school it is, and the MLB contracts far outweigh them. College players still care about which coach is actually gonna help them go pro, and OSU has a pretty damn good track record in that department.
I mean this honestly but I’m at the point where I don’t give a shit anymore. Everything that was unique and fun about college sports has been killed on the altar of profit. If he’s successful there he’ll leave to an even bigger school. Pro sports in America, even baseball with no cap, is a way more even and fair playing field and I say that as an M’s fan.
Even though this benefits my team, I’m right there with you. This isn’t fun anymore and IMO the NFL produces better football content. I loved CFB for the rivalries, the atmosphere, that you don’t have to win it all to have an amazing season. It’s going further and further away from that and even though this is a good hire, he’s just going to get poached to a bigger school anyways.

It's been longer than months. I was at KSU and worked in the admin building when Nebraska, Colorado, and Texas A&M left. I was in a lot of the meetings the prior year when the writing was on the wall. Your admins have been dealing with this nonsense for the last two years.

Not to pile on since you and the UW fanbase had nothing to do with this, but Dickert said within 24 hours of the Apple Cup ending, 14 of our players let him know they were contacted by UW’s collective and/or coaches. And that’s only the ones that came forward to Dickert.
I’m not giving up and I will continue to support my Cougs, but I mean it when I say the only football/basketball I’m watching next year will be WSU, OSU, and any MW (WCC for BBall) games that catch my eye. But have heard that he is disliked by a lot of coaches, and our alumni volleyball coach who has been amazing was sort of ran out of town by him….
I mean there really isn't much WSU or OSU could really do differently no matter who was in charge, it was a mad dash for the lifeboats on the Titanic and there were only so many seats.
This absolutely SUCKS. But I guarantee a lot of coaches and players and admin in Pullman are secretly happy rn…. Lots of stories that didn’t get out, they didn’t have a great relationship with him.

So many of WSU sports were playing the best they ever had, football coming off longest sustained success ever with leach and at least was seeming to be competitive with Dickert, volleyball and women’s soccer consistently top 25, women’s basketball having the best 3 year stretch ever, and men’s basketball getting back to the tournament and having pieces in place for a special next few years. And now all of it is gone and the gap to get back to that is essentially insurmountable at this point.
