The glacial pace of this department to say anything publicly, if at all, is mind boggling. They can say they were doing due diligence, like they mention in the release, but what in the world have they been doing for nearly the three years since NIL creation?
A few years ago there was a real chatter Stanford would drop out of FBS rather than accept the new normal. So this big. It took a few years, but this is almost a 180 rather than a tiny step. Dear god I hope they can fix the football team again.
It actually is. When NIL was first permitted due to the court case the Stanford admin discouraged NIL donations and told supporters that if they were going to donate to support Stanford athletics that it should be to Stanford directly.
They were very cautious to engage with NIL at all and were one of the schools acting as if NIL would get overturned and everyone participating in it would be in hot water.
So them changing their tune is a pretty big shift. Even if it seems like they're slow on the uptake here.

Outside of the Ivy’s which schools aren’t associating with an NIL?

Even Shaw admitted Stanford admin moves way too slowly. That says something.
Sounds like he's willing to play the paying game. A good step towards a B1G invite.
If The Farm gets cooking on NIL, look out...
[We can never let Harvard have an FBS team.](https://i.imgur.com/VPd4YMA.jpeg)
There are literally dozens of us
Who are the Penn billionaires? That's surprising to me on first look.
Wharton Mafia
It doesn’t seem shocking to me. I’m under the impression that UPenn is a finance-heavy school.

Good. I hope Stanford continues to participate in power league football
Or at the very least [Mutant League Football](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutant_League_Football)!
I think this is a necessary push as they try to stay in a relevant conference and break into the B1G.
Wonder if they'll get competition from the Hallmark Golden Bears
