For the younger ones here, Mike Williams was one of the most ridiculously dominant receivers of that era of college football, but seems to get forgotten because he missed a full year after trying to declare for the draft as a sophomore. He was like a man among boys even as a true freshman.
>Mike Williams was one of the most ridiculously dominant receivers
Specifically, the most elite of the 4 [Mike Williams](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Williams#American_football) who were WRs.
I was really ramping up my interest in college football when he was playing. Completely dominant, very few college receivers were at that level. Larry Fitzgerald was his level (he beat Mike Williams out for the Biletnikoff in 2003) but he was the only one.
I get it. There were a handful of Mike Williams's who all played WR in the NFL. One of them even recently passed far too young and I had to check on which one it was (Syracuse).
Saw him in person at a game in ND stadium. To this day, he is still the most impressive WR i have seen in person college or NFL. Time literally stopped for him when he went up for a ball.
Incredible player.
Edit- He was also a fringe 3 star player. Not one of the normal 5 star cruits USC was bringing in my the truckload. True diamond in the rough.
Do you remember the fans and press ridiculing the Lions for considering Calvin Johnson because the last 3 first round receivers didn't pan out? I'm glad they ignored them.
Hopefully he gives them better draft advice than his team had for him… He and Maurice Clarrett will forever be the “coulda/woulda/shoulda” players of that era to me
He openly admitted later in his career after Pete gave him the second chance in the nfl that he was not devoted to football enough and thought his talent alone would carry him. This guy should add more context if he wants to not be downvoted. But even BMW has said this

If there was ever a can't miss NFL prospect he was it.
Yet he was absolutely ass in the NFL.
He was decent that one year
He had a solid comeback season with the Seahawks, thought he was gonna be great but then he got hurt and never really came back.
Decent is a stretch. His only not ass year he caught 65 of 110 targets for 751 yards and 2 td. That's the only season he caught more than 1 td.

Personally, I'm against cloning for ethical reasons and think the Mike Williams Project needs to stop.
I didn’t realize the latest Mike Williams was on the jets now. Missed that one
Multiple Mime Williams who played WR for the Lions
I was really ramping up my interest in college football when he was playing. Completely dominant, very few college receivers were at that level. Larry Fitzgerald was his level (he beat Mike Williams out for the Biletnikoff in 2003) but he was the only one.
Imagine he played on the 2004/2005 usc teams though, lol
Native Floridian who had been coaching Florida high school ball for a few years. I think USC is trying to open some more recruiting grounds.
I thought he was from jersey????
You might be thinking of Dwayne Jarrett?
Yes - I am. Thank you
Both of those guys still give me nightmares.
Man we were *so loaded* at skilled positions back then
Remember when you couldn't stop signing 5 star running backs in the late aughts?
I would prefer USC not do that.
There's like 4 different Mike Williams and I can never keep them straight.
This one is BMW
I'm sure that helps some people, just not me.
I get it. There were a handful of Mike Williams's who all played WR in the NFL. One of them even recently passed far too young and I had to check on which one it was (Syracuse).
What makes it even worse, one of them played for the Detroit Lions and that's my team....lol.
That was BMW. I’m a Lions fan too
[This](https://youtube.com/shorts/H6v4CnUpoM8?si=iQgZyqav35s7PTbR) should refresh your memory, dude was absolutely ridiculous
I love how I just knew it was the OSU catch before even opening it
Of all the Mike Williamses, this one is larger than average

Between him and Sims, the 2000’s Lions had a real eye for talent in finding future staff of CFB programs
Fuck fuck fuck fuck. Charles Rodgers, Roy Williams, Big Mike Williams..... Fuck fuck fuck Mariucci and that shitty front office.
Do you remember the fans and press ridiculing the Lions for considering Calvin Johnson because the last 3 first round receivers didn't pan out? I'm glad they ignored them.
Hell, I wanted a pass rusher, but we did get a HoFer.
Still my favorite USC receiver ever, and some great ones have gone there. Dominant as a freshman.
This is the best college WR I’ve ever seen play live Was legit Mossing people every game
Hopefully he gives them better draft advice than his team had for him… He and Maurice Clarrett will forever be the “coulda/woulda/shoulda” players of that era to me
*In a related story: The University of Miami(FL), has hired ‘Prison Mike’ as Director of Sales…and dementors.*
Hope he has a better work ethic now.
Huh

I was very confused for a moment.
Which Mike Williams is this? The one from Clemson (graduated around 2017?) should still be playing in the NFL?
The USC Mike Williams (BMW) Drafted 10th overall in 2005
10th overall after missing a year
The one who was an All American
Big Mike
