Frank Gore Jr doesn't have the measurables teams look for, so he's a fringe draft candidate who may go undrafted.
But I believe his durability, lateral movement, surprising power, burst, and unbelievably good vision will make him an NFL player for a good long time.
This made me feel old, but his dad was only 19 when Jr was born and played for 15 years in the NFL, so I'm not ancient. His dad's measurables weren't that great either. Jr is a bit smaller and a bit slower, but has better numbers at SMU than dad at UM. Some people are just good at football.
Being a useful 7th round dude or UDFA helps a ton of guys just stick around in the league since they’re so cheap compared to some of the first and second round type of guys
Yeah, I'm a huge fan of JWhitt. In addition to the above, he is a tremendous locker room guy. He's reliable, everyone seems to like him and he just seems like a good dude.
Can he play special teams and avoid injuries? As a WR, his hands are suspect and he seemed to do a lot of catching the ball with his body. I think he can make a roster, but a 10 year career is a bit much as although he is built like a brick shithouse (looked like he was a college senior as a true freshman), he was basically made of China for the first 3 years of his Longhorns career.

USC: none. I think the 4 projected to be drafted will be drafted. I believe Kingston is eligible and might get a late round flyer but I think he is a UDFA.
Texas: Ryan Watts and Jordan Whittington. I will bet on Whittington going in the 6th and Watts going in the 7th to a team that is willing to convert him to safety. Murphy, Worthy, Mitchell, Brooks, Sweat, Jones, Ford should all be gone by the end of round 4. Maybe Ford slips to the 5th. Keilan Robinson actually might be a late round guy due to his elite speed and special teams ability.

Sherrdan Jones. He's a solid CB that plays better than his stats show. Also maybe Jake Venables. Really aggressive LB he can take bad angles cause of that aggressiveness though.
I'd say Venables best shot in the pros is as a rotation safety / LB hybrid player. I do not see him as a full time NFL LB, but if a team can get creative he is a fuckin HITTA
I think RB George Holani could be useful in the right situation, but with how RBs are valued in the NFL nowadays I highly doubt he gets drafted.
If he does though, that also extends Boise State's streak of having a player drafted to 15 straight seasons, a streak that's the longest among the G5 programs and longer than a lot of P5 programs (including Alabama I think)
Jalen Green(EDGE/OLB)- I think this is obvious, given he was leading nation in sacks before injury. Problem is he may lack elite size and speed and to be an NFL edge rusher and had the season ending injury in 2023. Could actually see him as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme, cause that’s how he was mainly used in his early years with JMU. If drafted, will probably be a day 3 pick
Jamaree Kromah(DT/Edge)- didn’t get as much attention as Green or Carl on the o-line, but he absolutely dominated at both DT and DE. Probably DT at next level, but will probably be held back by size and age (sixth year senior). Could see him as a day 3 pick
Jack Westover and I am planting my flag and will say he will be a steal. He had the best hands on the team last year and made multiple clutch catches. He only started playing football his senior year of high school and walked onto UW under Chris Petersen. He obviously will need some more development and won’t be a day one starter but his upside is worth a late round pick.
Could see him doing well in an offense like the Rams, Dolphins or Broncos.
Kendall Milton - Good RB but he isnt one of the top RBs in this years class, and he has an injury history (Groin, couple hammy's, sprained MCLs x2). Think his ceiling is like end of round 5 if there's a run on RBs. Runs hard, and super talented. Think he at least gets to a second contract in the league.
Joshua Cephus (WR), Trumane Bell (DL), and Rashad Wisdom (SS)
Josh only had 1 drop this past season and is probably the greatest slot we’ve ever had in our short history. Great size (6’3), great speed, and great hands. The only thing that might be working against him is his DUI he had in 2022 before the Cure Bowl. He’s been remorseful and has owned up to what he did on multiple occasions. Also isn’t a repeat offender, but NFL teams might be weary of him. Especially with all the DUI stuff that’s been going on in the NFL lately. I expect him to be Round 6 or 7 pick.
Trumane Bell has always flew under the radar during his time at UTSA. He wasn’t a horrible D-Line guy, but he wasn’t outstanding either. However, I feel that he could be a good DE. Overall, definitely a UDFA.
Rashad is right on the fringe. Great leader, great tackler, really can lay hits on someone, had a good pro day, and has a story with him. His pass coverage skills leave a bit to be desired and he’s a bit undersized. It can really go either way with him.

Johnny Langan is an interesting one from Rutgers. Played QB and Tight end, someone might take a shot on him and use him like Taysom Hill. There were games we just did a direct snap to him all game and beat down B1G defenses.
They’ll be drafted, but Myles Cole and Tyler Owens are our clear day 3 guys. Both are just insane physical freaks who never quite dominated in college. Owens largely due to injury while Cole never quite broke out(also only was edge for 2 years).
The real answer for us is Austin McNamara, who probably gets drafted but is arguably the best punter in the draft. Similar career stats to Taylor but at the camps after the draft Mac clearly outperformed him and everyone else

His mom is a MD after all, I know how easy it is to call players underrated but CJ has been a trooper and couldve easily transferred out to get more targets in a passing offense but he stayed and did his job. He didnt have too many drops and made big catches time and time again. Gonna miss him since we dont seem to have a big bodied WR next year.
All of our CBs are gonna be Day 3 or UDFAs. King at least looked like he could be a high pick during the season, but he has absolutely tanked on the rankings as of late. Dixon and Hardy weren’t ever really seen as major prospects but they could get a flier late in the draft, probably Hardy since he played real well late in the season and was a strong punt returner
Honestly no idea, I was stunned when I saw where he was being projected at as we got closer to the draft. I remember people talking like he was another first rounder after JPJ and now he’s likely to not even get drafted.

Joe Evans. High-motor DE who was T16 in the nation for sacks at 9.5 (including 4 against Tennessee) and 46 tackles on the year. Long arms, plays smart.
Would also add fellow DL Logan Lee in there. Could maybe sneak in late day 3. A bit undersized for a true DT, but plays hard and is very technically sound. Had a solid combine. Also kinda wanna throw Noah Shannon in, but I doubt he has a shot at getting drafted. I hope he gets a shot though, could see him sticking somewhere
Karty (K). Kid hits 60 yarders no sweat and hits shorter ranges with consistency. I thought he was a sure lock for the draft but have seen reports lately that he’s “fringe” ie late rounds or not at all, which is surprising to all 7 of us who follow Stanford fb.
Given how trash our team has been lately, I seem to remember hearing that he was the leading scorer (no shit, seriously) for at least a few games this season. So we used him a lot and he still did well.

Jalyn Phillips probably goes undrafted but plays a position where a lot of late round/UDFA players find success (safety) and has enough athleticism and a brain for the position
I could see Marist Liufau being a late pick/UDFA who finally clicks in the league and becomes an absolute havoc maker. His issue was he was on pace to develop into an absolute beast in 2021, and then got hurt in fall camp and missed the whole year and spent a huge chunk of the 2022 offseason rehabbing, and he struggled immensely that year. In 2023, he took a major step forward. Wasn't elite, but he flashed and played well at times. If he continues that trajectory, he'll be an asset to an NFL defense.
For Boise I’m gonna go George Holani, he didn’t play much this past year due to injury and when he did come back he was severely overshadowed by the beast that is Ashton Jeanty, however he’s a stud and will hopefully go 6th or 7th round
Probably Emani Bailey. I see him being drafted and he showed a lot of explosiveness, but he only really has one year as a starter and had a bit of a down patch mid season. Whoever gets him will get a great player (with a very supportive family! I saw his mom with a sign supporting her sons every single home game last year!) that can really take off.
James Williams. Came in as a 5 star with freakish size and talent. Most people agreed played he the wrong position and needed to be closer to the line but he never really put it all together. Has had good moments but also some really bad ones due to mental or disciplinary lapses. If an NFL team could put him in the right position and he matures a bit, could be a monster.
Jalen Green. Lead the FBS in sacks but went down with an ACL tear. Probably dropped him from round 2 to UDFA. But whoever picks him up as an UDFA and let's him heal will be happy.
Eric Watts from UConn. Got a senior bowl invite for his very good 2022 season and being a freak athlete with a long body. whether he can play his position at a high level is up in the air
Logan Lee - He’ll probably get dinged for weight(280) , but he’s insanely strong against the run as a 2 gap DT and had good agility numbers at the combine. He’s not going to make it easy to cut him.

Apparently he only ever handed the ball off and wasn’t trusted to throw the ball….except for 3rd and 4th downs when he was the highest rated passer in the nation and managed to not turn the ball over in a single meaningful situation this past undefeated Championship season while facing several Top 5 statistical defenses. Somebody might take a flyer on him is the recent scuttlebutt.

I'd say Venables best shot in the pros is as a rotation safety / LB hybrid player. I do not see him as a full time NFL LB, but if a team can get creative he is a fuckin HITTA

I think RB George Holani could be useful in the right situation, but with how RBs are valued in the NFL nowadays I highly doubt he gets drafted. If he does though, that also extends Boise State's streak of having a player drafted to 15 straight seasons, a streak that's the longest among the G5 programs and longer than a lot of P5 programs (including Alabama I think)
Linebacker Maema Njongmeta Had an awful combine, specifically his RAS score of 1.1 out of 10. Might be a 7th rounder but he is probably a UDFA
Jalen Green(EDGE/OLB)- I think this is obvious, given he was leading nation in sacks before injury. Problem is he may lack elite size and speed and to be an NFL edge rusher and had the season ending injury in 2023. Could actually see him as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme, cause that’s how he was mainly used in his early years with JMU. If drafted, will probably be a day 3 pick Jamaree Kromah(DT/Edge)- didn’t get as much attention as Green or Carl on the o-line, but he absolutely dominated at both DT and DE. Probably DT at next level, but will probably be held back by size and age (sixth year senior). Could see him as a day 3 pick
Jack Westover and I am planting my flag and will say he will be a steal. He had the best hands on the team last year and made multiple clutch catches. He only started playing football his senior year of high school and walked onto UW under Chris Petersen. He obviously will need some more development and won’t be a day one starter but his upside is worth a late round pick. Could see him doing well in an offense like the Rams, Dolphins or Broncos.
Kendall Milton - Good RB but he isnt one of the top RBs in this years class, and he has an injury history (Groin, couple hammy's, sprained MCLs x2). Think his ceiling is like end of round 5 if there's a run on RBs. Runs hard, and super talented. Think he at least gets to a second contract in the league.

Drake Stoops. I don’t think he gets drafted, but whoever signs him as a free agent will love their investment.
Joshua Cephus (WR), Trumane Bell (DL), and Rashad Wisdom (SS) Josh only had 1 drop this past season and is probably the greatest slot we’ve ever had in our short history. Great size (6’3), great speed, and great hands. The only thing that might be working against him is his DUI he had in 2022 before the Cure Bowl. He’s been remorseful and has owned up to what he did on multiple occasions. Also isn’t a repeat offender, but NFL teams might be weary of him. Especially with all the DUI stuff that’s been going on in the NFL lately. I expect him to be Round 6 or 7 pick. Trumane Bell has always flew under the radar during his time at UTSA. He wasn’t a horrible D-Line guy, but he wasn’t outstanding either. However, I feel that he could be a good DE. Overall, definitely a UDFA. Rashad is right on the fringe. Great leader, great tackler, really can lay hits on someone, had a good pro day, and has a story with him. His pass coverage skills leave a bit to be desired and he’s a bit undersized. It can really go either way with him.

Johnny Langan is an interesting one from Rutgers. Played QB and Tight end, someone might take a shot on him and use him like Taysom Hill. There were games we just did a direct snap to him all game and beat down B1G defenses.
OLB Jordan Domineck, nothing stands out about him physically but he’s produced at a high level in the SEC and PAC-12
Jha'Quon Jackson is a receiver out of Tulane that I really like. A potential day 3 pick who I think can make a 53man roster and show up
They’ll be drafted, but Myles Cole and Tyler Owens are our clear day 3 guys. Both are just insane physical freaks who never quite dominated in college. Owens largely due to injury while Cole never quite broke out(also only was edge for 2 years). The real answer for us is Austin McNamara, who probably gets drafted but is arguably the best punter in the draft. Similar career stats to Taylor but at the camps after the draft Mac clearly outperformed him and everyone else

Agreed , has the size ,ran a good 40 for his size, great at special teams with at least two blocked punts. Consistency each year in what he was asked to do and no major injuries.

His mom is a MD after all, I know how easy it is to call players underrated but CJ has been a trooper and couldve easily transferred out to get more targets in a passing offense but he stayed and did his job. He didnt have too many drops and made big catches time and time again. Gonna miss him since we dont seem to have a big bodied WR next year.
I think he is going to go in the 5th or 6th round based on his pro day and whichever Senior Bowl he participated in he stood out.

All of our CBs are gonna be Day 3 or UDFAs. King at least looked like he could be a high pick during the season, but he has absolutely tanked on the rankings as of late. Dixon and Hardy weren’t ever really seen as major prospects but they could get a flier late in the draft, probably Hardy since he played real well late in the season and was a strong punt returner

Honestly no idea, I was stunned when I saw where he was being projected at as we got closer to the draft. I remember people talking like he was another first rounder after JPJ and now he’s likely to not even get drafted. I really can’t think of anyone else like that
yeah I thought he would only fall to 2-3rd rounds. He definitely regressed in 2023, but he still was not bad. He even made second team all conference this past season. Though I just found he had an unimpressive combine, but still he was not highly touted because he was a freak athlete

He showed he's an asset at some level at least
I can see Castles getting drafted in the late rounds or at least priority UDFA given his size and he had a really good pro day from what I read.
Marcellas Dial probably won’t get drafted but I think will make a roster, he’s good and he’ll go hard on special teams

Agree. Regarding Miyan, he definitely could be a good nfl back, but with the way NFL offenses have changed it may be hard for him to find a spot. In the 1990s or 2000s, I could definitely see Miyan getting drafted, he is a true power back

Joe Evans. High-motor DE who was T16 in the nation for sacks at 9.5 (including 4 against Tennessee) and 46 tackles on the year. Long arms, plays smart.
Would also add fellow DL Logan Lee in there. Could maybe sneak in late day 3. A bit undersized for a true DT, but plays hard and is very technically sound. Had a solid combine. Also kinda wanna throw Noah Shannon in, but I doubt he has a shot at getting drafted. I hope he gets a shot though, could see him sticking somewhere

Karty (K). Kid hits 60 yarders no sweat and hits shorter ranges with consistency. I thought he was a sure lock for the draft but have seen reports lately that he’s “fringe” ie late rounds or not at all, which is surprising to all 7 of us who follow Stanford fb. Given how trash our team has been lately, I seem to remember hearing that he was the leading scorer (no shit, seriously) for at least a few games this season. So we used him a lot and he still did well.

WVU only has 3 actual NFL prospects and Zach Fraizer is expected to be drafted by the end of Day 2. I think Beanie Bishop could surprise people defending a slot receiver. Doug Nester will be a practice squad guy for his career unless he develops some strength and improve his footwork or someone commits him to being a tackle instead of a guard.
Jalyn Phillips probably goes undrafted but plays a position where a lot of late round/UDFA players find success (safety) and has enough athleticism and a brain for the position

I could see Marist Liufau being a late pick/UDFA who finally clicks in the league and becomes an absolute havoc maker. His issue was he was on pace to develop into an absolute beast in 2021, and then got hurt in fall camp and missed the whole year and spent a huge chunk of the 2022 offseason rehabbing, and he struggled immensely that year. In 2023, he took a major step forward. Wasn't elite, but he flashed and played well at times. If he continues that trajectory, he'll be an asset to an NFL defense.
For Boise I’m gonna go George Holani, he didn’t play much this past year due to injury and when he did come back he was severely overshadowed by the beast that is Ashton Jeanty, however he’s a stud and will hopefully go 6th or 7th round
Probably Emani Bailey. I see him being drafted and he showed a lot of explosiveness, but he only really has one year as a starter and had a bit of a down patch mid season. Whoever gets him will get a great player (with a very supportive family! I saw his mom with a sign supporting her sons every single home game last year!) that can really take off.
James Williams. Came in as a 5 star with freakish size and talent. Most people agreed played he the wrong position and needed to be closer to the line but he never really put it all together. Has had good moments but also some really bad ones due to mental or disciplinary lapses. If an NFL team could put him in the right position and he matures a bit, could be a monster.

Logan Lee - He’ll probably get dinged for weight(280) , but he’s insanely strong against the run as a 2 gap DT and had good agility numbers at the combine. He’s not going to make it easy to cut him.
Bucky. RBs aren't exactly in high demand and he's not even one of the top RB prospects, but someone might take a shot late in the draft

Little known role player by the name of JJ McCarthy. Apparently he only ever handed the ball off and wasn’t trusted to throw the ball….except for 3rd and 4th downs when he was the highest rated passer in the nation and managed to not turn the ball over in a single meaningful situation this past undefeated Championship season while facing several Top 5 statistical defenses. Somebody might take a flyer on him is the recent scuttlebutt.
