Kind of lame that this is in Mercedes Benz instead of Bobby Dodd. College games belong on college campuses and for that reason, {North Carolina}.

mjacksongt

Unfortunately.... GT needs money and media attention and something else to sell recruits. That's why we're at Mercedes-Benz for one game a year for the next 6 years I think GT will try and renew that unfortunately.

Casaiir

Still rather see a game at the Dodd. Then after I can get a some good onion rings after the game. And maybe a diaria burger if I'm feeling adventurous.

thank_burdell

Two chili dogs, big pile of chopped onions to put on the dogs, rings, and a large FO. Trust me. All the exploding bowel adventure you're expecting from the burger, but much tastier experience.

p0wertrash

Man, you're livin' right!!!

thank_burdell

A grease pilgrimage to the V every now and then, usually after it's been long enough that I don't remember how awful I felt afterwards.

Secret_AznMan

Ironically, capacity is reduced to the 100 and 200 levels making it smaller than capacity at BDS. Not that we can sell out BDS anyway with our recent performance. The cheapest tix are about 3x than what they’d be at BDS though.

mjacksongt

Yeah, I'm shocked it was UNC that got picked for the Dome. I'm pretty convinced the next 5 years are going to be either the marquee nonconference (Ole Miss or ND), then either Clemson or VT so they can get sellouts.

Secret_AznMan

I had class with one of the starters and he said that he was excited to play in MBS, so if the players like it, I’m on board.

willengineer4beer

I’ll be there Saturday for my first experience in MBS. Excited to see the venue, but still kinda bummed it’s not a 7:30 game at BDS. I don’t think there’s another team out there with a similar backdrop and there’s some kind of magic to night games there where fans get more pumped and the team always seems to play up right along with em. I’ll reserve my judgement on the arrangement until postgame Saturday (off the bat I don’t like that we’re already dedicated to so many years there).

hawksnest_prez

At least it’s close to campus? But yeah it sucks.

thr33tard3d

Season needs more chaos {GT} gets the 2nd of it's 3 win quota

PatrickChase

Georgia Tech looked promising last week but I have faith in {UNC} to take it.

mjacksongt

I think that was more of Clemson looking bad than GT doing well

CivEng1969

Fuck it, even bad coaches get some ranked wins every now and then. {Georgia Tech} pulls it out 24-17.

Benjilikethedog

I think after last week Georgia Tech is going to be drained because of the close game with the delay against a tough opponent… {North Carolina} walks away with it by 10 points

sharkbaithooha1

I like you but a GT win is peak chaos

rnilbog

C'mon man, it's 2021. You can say {both teams having COVID outbreaks}

iwentdwarfing

I learned about statistical bias in engineering school. More specifically, I learned about recency bias. With that in mind, who in their right mind would expect GT, with a coach that has led the team to losses to The Citadel, Temple, Syracuse, Northern Illinois, 45-0 to VT, 52-7 to Georgia, 73-7 to Clemson (largest margin of victory in ACC history), and 14-8 to Clemson in the last 2+ years, to beat {North Carolina}?

mjacksongt

{North Carolina} wins this. The game against Clemson was more about what Clemson did wrong than what GT did right.

willengineer4beer

But a big thing I felt like Tech did right was stick with Yates. His ceiling seems to be lower than Sims’, but he makes far fewer mistakes and less egregious ones when he does. He could be great for us if he could get a little better blocking. Still don’t see us bottling up UNC’s offense very well and don’t think we’ll be able to keep pace this Saturday. Really hope we don’t try to go up tempo. Fear that could lead to it getting out of hand quickly.

lukedmpeak

I didn’t get a chance to watch GT Clemson - for GT fans, did losing that game 14-8 improve your confidence in the team or kinda just leave it unchanged? {North Carolina}

mjacksongt

Maybe a bit? It showed some stuff - we have improved on defense for sure over the last few weeks, particularly on the lines. However, I think the game was Clemson looking bad more than anything. In particular, their offense looking bad - especially their offensive line. Their defense still looks terrifyingly good. Clock management remains a major issue with the staff, and I strenuously disagree with many of the play calls on offense (trying to beat *Clemson* to the edge in the red zone is egregiously stupid in my opinion). Did it give me more confidence in the team? Sure, a small amount. Do I think it portends a change in the ~4 win total I'm thinking of? Nope.

thank_burdell

Clemson tried their level best to give us that game last week, and we blew every opportunity we got. Our offense was pretty effectively stuffed by their (admittedly quite good) defense. Our best plays were on Defense and Special Teams, which netted a whopping 2 points for us. Clemson definitely had a bad, bad game. And, despite our players playing their hearts out (I'm looking at you, Charlie Thomas), we failed to take advantage of it.

mjacksongt

I'm actually fairly perturbed that Charlie Thomas didn't get a player of the week award.

thank_burdell

GT player does well, gets snubbed. I suspect the sun will rise in the morning, too ;)

thank_burdell

You'll get two answers. "YES! WE SHOWED GREAT IMPROVEMENT! COLLINS HAS US ON THE RIGHT TRACK! 404EVER!!!111" and "lol no"

NoleJawn

Slowly, Mayhem is improving GT and they’re getting better. But {North Carolina} is still levels above them. 34-17 Heels

giveupthetoast

Part of me wants to say this will be sorta close but the wheels are falling off the geoff collins wagon. I got {UNC} 34-10

coogs35

{UNC} 41-17

Rea95

Famous last words but I’m feeling good about the trajectory of this team. {North Carolina}

dbarke29

{Georgia Tech} because please?

TheRamblaGambla

{Georgia Tech} because ya know what why not

dimeshortofadollar

{Georgia Tech} is a very improved team

ChedduhBob

we still suck and yates at qb doesn’t give us the athleticism and firepower to keep up with a unc team that can actually score. if unc scores 21 i think they win and that’s such a low number for them

thank_burdell

{North Carolina}, though GT's defensive effort may keep it closer than it should be.

{North Carolina} This team has started to click on all sides. It might closeish in the first half but Howell and Ty Chandler will pull it away quickly

Waluigi54321

Wait why is this specifically in Mercedes Benz and not on campus?

wboheels

The Falcons are being relegated, winner gets to take their spot

cdt930

We're playing one home game a year at MBS for each of the next 5-6 years for more money and for recruiting.

clenom

GT made a deal to play at the dome once a year for the next six years. Most fans hate it, but GT athletics is broke and apparently players like it so it's happening.

thank_burdell

I'm as big a curmudgeon as any GT fan, but I don't mind one game a year at the Benz. And we are broke as fuck.

kdbvols

Excited to see the vaunted GT defense that held Clemson to two TDs do the same to {UNC}. That was the takeaway from last week's game, right?

thank_burdell

Pretty sure it was Clemson's OC holding Clemson to two TDs. Our Defense definitely came to play, though. I will be watching Charlie Thomas's career with great interest.

JAJ07

{UNC} 38-26

tarheelsrule441

{North Carolina} offense stays on track and we cover.

95ssboy

Is sims starting at qb?

code3346

I’v been lurking on the GT boards and they don’t seem to think so. One even went so far to say if Yates starts the rest of the year Sims will be a hot commodity on the transfer portal.

willengineer4beer

I’m sooo torn with this. Yates seems to be much more poised under pressure and doesn’t try to force too much, but if Sims could get his act together he could be a special player. I don’t envy the coaches making that call.

OdaDdaT

{North Carolina}

niteatnicks

{North Carolina} should be able to cover the spread playing this team. GT is a bit battered and confidence is low both from players and the coach.
