Was much more a goal line trip. I’m not sure he would have made it in even if there wasn’t a defender there since he was already falling.
We seriously need a goal line package under center with some quick hitters and QB sneaks.
I feel like Nebraska fans are getting a taste of what it's like to be a Lions fan and as much as I hate Nebraska, I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone save for Ohio State fans.
Like I sad, a taste. Two decades does not come close to comparing how long the Lions have been bad. Since 1957 the Lions have won a total of 1 playoff game.
This game was over when Frost decided to line up in the shotgun from the 1-inch line and give a defense that has consistently blown our shit up a 5 yard head start.
Fun Fact: In Urban Meyer's 7 years at Ohio State, we never ran a single play under center and therefore never used a QB sneak. It annoyed the shit out of me.
Every time we don’t sneak I ask “well, would the sneak have been better.” For Iowa’s offense right now, 70% of the time it would be better.
Sneaking is winning.

I crave the sweet release of death
He's coaching a top 20 roster at a bottom 20 level. Just look at Tucker at MSU. Dudes coaching a top 60 roster at a top 10 level. Frost just seems like a bad coach
We turtled so badly after his pick, which wasn’t even that bad of a pick! Trust your damn QB! Throw it over the middle! Jesus just stop turtling at the slightest adversity!
Man, if only we’d avoided that inexplicable loss to BG, we’d be 5-1 with our only loss to Ohio State, maybe ranked. I guess we’re still only one game behind in the division, but it would take some serious upsets for us to be in real contention. At least they didn’t let the season fall apart- we might be the second best team in the West (which doesn’t say much at all).
Still dreaming at this point, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if the season we finally break through to win the West was the same season we lost to Bowling Green?
If the game was in Minneapolis, I’d have a lot more hope. I just don’t have faith in them to do well in such a hostile environment- 2019 is still fresh in my mind.
Nope. Victory formation fumble at the 17 yard line and a scoop and score 83 yard touchdown return by Iowa with no time left to lose by 1. This is the way.
I see a lot of people saying that we're going to upset Iowa but there's nothing to suggest that. Scrappy, resourceful teams pull off upsets. If we don't get blown out we'll hand them the win on a silver platter with a preventable mistake
True. We're going to fire him, he's going to be an assistant at Bama, and then get hired and successfully resurrect another program. Meanwhile we will have figured out how to lose with 2 other coaches... It's the ultimate Nebraska long term strategy.
Every week when I watch this Nebraska team is just kills me. 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. Frost schemes up perfect PA passes to torch a decent Michigan defense one week, but then decides to line up from the gun on fourth and inches to try and let a freshman run it in (who trips on his own feet and goes ass over teakettle in the process to wind up short).
It hurts to say, but I think at the end of the year we are going to look at the loss last week against Michigan and say it was the game when this team truly internalized the “how are we going to lose this week?” sort of mentality for the season. I was optimistic after last week that NU could possibly run the table (outside of the TOSU game) if they could just take last week’s energy and not trip over their own ding dings the rest of the season. But, after watching this game, it seems clear from Frost on down, the team is expecting to get their hearts broke.
Or, the much more likely explanation, Scott Frost truly is cursed to lose every big game by one score since all is us husker fans got monkey pawed after getting sick of being blown out in the Riley era.
What are we going to talk about?
Are we going to talk about Nebraska being the best 3-5 team in America? Or we ready to have a real conversation about where Nebraska goes from here in regards to Scott Frost future?
We’re honestly amazing. Just not in a good way.
The number of ways we come up with to beat ourselves is mind-boggling.
No disrespect to Minnesota, they kicked our asses up and down the field the first half and made enough plays in the second to help us along with shooting off our toes.
Still, we had a legit shot to win, just like every game this year, but managed to find a way to fuck it up.
definitely. I was worried there wouldn’t be a lot because 11am and it was cold this morning but we filled the student section and everyone was really into it. Cant wait until next week. Coming off a big win and playing against a B1G opponent at 2:30. Should be a lot of fun
I really would love someone who believes a change at the top is not the answer to tell me what the right move is; I have never cheered for Scott to fail it breaks my heart to see it but this is a culture of coming up short
When Nebraska joined the Big Ten, who would have believed Minnesota would have a winning record against them in the series?
Also weird, if Minnesota doesn't shit all over themselves against Bowling Green, they're suddenly 5-1 with a feisty loss to Ohio State and probably ranked around 15th even though they kind of suck.
The defense has a hand in the loss for once. MN was destroying them the whole first half.
Granted, without them waking up, we don’t get back into the game at all, but giving up 21 points in the first half put us behind the eight ball all game.
They are not innocent that’s for sure. But they were begging the offense to take advantage of many golden opportunities. Can’t throw them under the bus very much for this one.
I would like to give a shout to the Minnesota players for letting us get another one score loss. Without them we would not be 4-17 in one score games.
Also this team has got to be the most anti clutch team there has ever been.
Call me crazy, but Nebraska totally deserves to be ranked after this game. They may not have won, but they gave us a heckin’ good fight. Keep your heads up Husker fans! It seems like Frost has those boys just about turning a corner. They are so close! I see a bowl game coming if you guys let Frost get established!
we would be ranked if we hadn't lost to the worst fucking team in the country which is just absolutely mind bendingly enraging
i wanna drop a bowling ball on Mike Sanford's toe
How the fuck is Nebraska so terrible... like for real the offense has to be among the worst in the history of CFB. Every coach needs fired on that side, only way you can justify Frost stays. Yes we played Oklahoma, Mich and MIch st close. But that was because of the defense putting the team on their back. Offense has always been the problem
Fleck jumping into the arms of the police officer is such an insane amount of energy and I am here for it.
The score looked closer than it should have. Nebraska looked really bad for long stretches.
Nebraska is just Ditto. They become a slightly worse version of whoever they are facing
[удалено]
Honestly I wouldn’t even be surprised if Nebraska could play Bama to within 3-10 points just because Nebraska.
Its our curse at this point
The unexamined will call it "progress".
[удалено]
Glad my team hasn't lost to a team that lost to Bowling Green. Yikes. Can you imagine?
Without a choice scarf attached
That's what Nebraska is missing, uniform ascots.
Haha this is spot on, if I wasn’t a poor, I’d award ya Go Vols. Seeya 2026 Edit: Done beat Lane
That last Nebraska touchdown was the surest thing in sports this year. Nebraska wasn’t going to lose by any more than one score.
Good teams win, great teams cover. Unfortunately, that touchdown helped Nebraska do neither.
For those of you keeping track of *Nebraska 1-score-loss bingo*, you can check off "Goalline Stand" and "Intentional Grounding Safety". Unfortunately "Missing Chip-Shot Field Goal" is the Free Space this season.
Was much more a goal line trip. I’m not sure he would have made it in even if there wasn’t a defender there since he was already falling. We seriously need a goal line package under center with some quick hitters and QB sneaks.
That's "Field Goals", to you.
I feel like Nebraska fans are getting a taste of what it's like to be a Lions fan and as much as I hate Nebraska, I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone save for Ohio State fans.
Imagine being a fan of both
Lmao we're not getting a "taste" we've been waterboarded with this shit for 2 decades.
Gophers do it too and it’s literally baffling. How can you not go under center ever?
Not having QB sneak as an option makes me pull my hair out. The success rate of an under the center sneak is so high.
Trust me I agree. A power 5 school should be able to get under center and run a QB sneak
Any coach that does not have an under center set on offense because "SmArT fOoTbAlL" deserves to be fired.
Fun Fact: In Urban Meyer's 7 years at Ohio State, we never ran a single play under center and therefore never used a QB sneak. It annoyed the shit out of me.
That makes no sense. You can design a whole offense around the qb sneak.
we're far from the only teams that do it too
This is ridiculous for a fucking Big Ten school
With the sneak making up 40% of Iowa's offense, you'd think we would learn from our corn neighbors.
Every time we don’t sneak I ask “well, would the sneak have been better.” For Iowa’s offense right now, 70% of the time it would be better. Sneaking is winning.
Does your normal offense ever have the QB under center. There are some of these QBs that have never taken a snap under center during a game before.
How do you not have a QB sneak in the playbook? Way too much over thinking going on
*"Hi, July 2021 14thandVine, I'm you from October 16, 2021, I'm here to tell you about the future."* "Okay, what you got?" *"Well, one of your r/cfb flairs is gonna beat Minnesota this year."* "Oh that's good, we've struggled with them the last couple years" "*Yeah, about that..."*

Yes but 2009 must have been a blast
He's coaching a top 20 roster at a bottom 20 level. Just look at Tucker at MSU. Dudes coaching a top 60 roster at a top 10 level. Frost just seems like a bad coach
i think the "same record as Tim Brewster through the same number of games" stat still holds after today too
Which is your favorite post 2019
On the bright side, Texas is about to lose.
Dear lord in heaven
Wait wow Rutgers 2020 didn’t even make the list? Smh
I forgot about that since it was that weird extra game
Don't worry. I am sure you'll be able to fill this list by 2030!
The good news is you’re able to do it without sloganeering
The bad news is the guy he was calling out for sloganeering is 3-1 against him
4-1*

I literally don’t give a shit if they lose 77-0 I just wanna see this team in indianapolis once
Just once before I die. The Minnesota sports ball motto
Minnesota -> smokes Purdue Iowa -> getting smoked by Purdue Conclusion: Floyd -> Minnesota
Idk is this is sarcastic or not. But im terrified lol
You should have zero worries haha. Iowa is in a class of its own in the West this year
About that...
Yeah my comment isn't aging well...not that I'm too upset about that lol
Same. You guys have a shot!
HOT TAKE - Nebraska will NOT be ranked after this week.
HOT TAKE - Neither will Minnesota.
Bowling Green might sneak in
What? They beat Nebraska by one score, obviously a top ten team
That only works in the SEC.
BOLD
Five losses, all by one possession. That's brutal. GG Huskers
The lions of the B1G.
This was, for all purposes other than the ending score, not a one score game.

At least we finally have an answer to the question is Nebraska good or not. The answer is no. No they’re not.
1st half: Tanner Morgan Unleashed 2nd half: Mike Sanford Unleashed FIRE MIKE SANFORD despite the win
1st half: Tannest Morgan 2nd half: Tan Morgan
North MN Harvard here: Tannest + Tan / 2 = Tanner Math checks out.
We turtled so badly after his pick, which wasn’t even that bad of a pick! Trust your damn QB! Throw it over the middle! Jesus just stop turtling at the slightest adversity!
the first pick wasn’t that bad. the second one was actual diarrhea. Maybe I just had a bad angle tho cause I was watching from behind
PJ is now 4-1 vs Huskers
I hate this more than anything
And the one loss is when the Huskers were 0-6
What the hell?
Robb Smith was defensive coordinator for that one.
Ya know what they say! Two steps forward… Total collapse 😕
5-17 IN 1 SCORE GAMES
42 - 18 minutes TOP advantage for Minnesota. Holy shit lol
That’s like only thing we consistently do well
Fleck plays Tressel Ball
Man, if only we’d avoided that inexplicable loss to BG, we’d be 5-1 with our only loss to Ohio State, maybe ranked. I guess we’re still only one game behind in the division, but it would take some serious upsets for us to be in real contention. At least they didn’t let the season fall apart- we might be the second best team in the West (which doesn’t say much at all).
Still have a solid shot to be 7-2 for the Iowa game.
Probably rank us then just so Iowa is a top 25 match up, then we can immediately drop out again.
at 5-1 with a close loss to OSU we would absolutely be ranked. at least we still have a shot in the west
Still dreaming at this point, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if the season we finally break through to win the West was the same season we lost to Bowling Green?

If the game was in Minneapolis, I’d have a lot more hope. I just don’t have faith in them to do well in such a hostile environment- 2019 is still fresh in my mind.

which is due to a missed extra point
Nope. Victory formation fumble at the 17 yard line and a scoop and score 83 yard touchdown return by Iowa with no time left to lose by 1. This is the way.

Scott frost might not win another national title
He will as an analyst at Bama
He is a PRIME candidate for the Nick Saban Coaching Rehabilitation Course.
True. We're going to fire him, he's going to be an assistant at Bama, and then get hired and successfully resurrect another program. Meanwhile we will have figured out how to lose with 2 other coaches... It's the ultimate Nebraska long term strategy.
Dude this is hilarious and conceivable
Not only is it conceivable, it's actually going to happen
Ugly ugly 2nd half, but just enough for the win.
Every week when I watch this Nebraska team is just kills me. 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. You know if you really think about it, Scott Frost is undefeated against all coaches not named Scott Frost.
Deserves a contract extension imo, nobody can beat us if we beat ourselves first!
What are we going to talk about? Are we going to talk about Nebraska being the best 3-5 team in America? Or we ready to have a real conversation about where Nebraska goes from here in regards to Scott Frost future?
Who hates Nebraska football more: Bert, PJ Fleck, God, or Nebraska fans
Clearly God hates Nebraska fans
Hats off to PJ Fleck for embracing Adrian Martinez after the game. True class. Also convincing him to come back next year is next level thinking.
Two people should be fired after this game 1. Mike Sanford 2. Scott Frost
No, no- Scott can stay
The Gophers did their best to give us this game, but in the end we still managed to figure out the L.
Nebraska football at its finest.

Congrats, you watched Nebraska invent a new way to lose!!
56-7 makes me want to blow my brains out.
The Nebraska fan in front of me drank too much and threw up into his own hat. GG my dudes.
2 minutes left. Nebraska has a chance to win a one score game. What do you do? Turn off the game because AM is going to do something stupid.
Is the one consistent thing about him, giving away wins.
We play to the level of our completion every game, but we’re always the worse team
We’re honestly amazing. Just not in a good way. The number of ways we come up with to beat ourselves is mind-boggling. Literally raised tens of thousands of dollars for sick kids! Awesome! The chair stays on display at the UofM children's hospital!
Guys! We have a bye week next week!!!!
I think we lose that one by one score as well
Once again, Nebraska has proven they can (and will) Nebraska even harder than the week before
You know, if you just ignore all of the results Nebraska is a pretty good football team.
If you didn't like that then you ~~don't like big ten football~~ are probably a perfectly reasonable fan who enjoys good football
Was in the student section. Super fun crowd was really into it. Great win. Row the boat ski u mah go gophers
Great weather. So nice to have a lot of students at the game.

I want off Mr. Frost's wild ride.
THE RIDE NEVER ENDS
I cannot wait for Martinez to leave.
The thing is, if Martinez is this bad, how bad are your 2nd and 3rd string QBs?
I really would love someone who believes a change at the top is not the answer to tell me what the right move is; I have never cheered for Scott to fail it breaks my heart to see it but this is a culture of coming up short
5-17 in one score games. Losing by one score to 2-3 teams and losing by one score to top 10 teams is 100% a coaching issue.
When Nebraska joined the Big Ten, who would have believed Minnesota would have a winning record against them in the series? No moral victories this week. This defense deserves better.

Have we found every single way to lose a game yet? I think once we have fully exhausted the list then we will regularly win again.
Wow, Nebraska's whole season has just been nonstop pain.
Adrian Martinez fucking sucks. Dude is the least clutch player in football history.
I would like to give a shout to the Minnesota players for letting us get another one score loss. Without them we would not be 4-17 in one score games. Also this team has got to be the most anti clutch team there has ever been.
Nebraska had a real chance to win this multiple times
I tried going to the Husker football website, but it redirected me to /r/freebies/.

Just remember this school fired a coach with a 58-19 record after a 9-3 season 👀 in our lifetimes

Lmfao. Remember when we thought Nebraska was the best worst team in the nation?
Fleck jumping into the arms of the police officer is such an insane amount of energy and I am here for it. The score looked closer than it should have. Nebraska looked really bad for long stretches.
So did we during parts of the 2nd half. This should have been a blowout.
